Friendly staff! No wait time when I went in, I have seen it very busy before! Ordered a veggie Benedict. Presentation was great! Pretty plating. The greens worried me that they would make my muffin soggy. They did not, however I did move some off my muffin because awkward to eat. My server was very nice. I had different people helping- checking order was right/clearing table/refilling water etc. none asked how my food was until after I paid- was asked if i needed anything else which to some could be the opportunity to share but not a big enough deal for me to complain about it. Oh, my, my... I'm honestly sad to say that I've lived in PDX nearly 15 years, and Mother's Day Brunch 2025 was my first time eating at Marco's! My son's Dad made the reservation for the 3 of us, and I'm not quite sure how he found the place, but part of why we landed here was because of the menu: there was a Dungeness omelet for Mother's Day, and I am a sucker for nearly anything with that specific crab meat involved. We walked in a few minutes ahead of our reservation time, and were seated promptly, which was appreciated: I've visited several establishments where we had a reservation and were not sat for quite some time after the fact. The space was a lot larger than it appears upon walking in: there was entire second room that I didn't see upon entering and my back was to, so I didn't notice it until I was filming the umbrella ceiling - this place does NOT believe in bad juju from opening one inside! There were so many options on the menu that I did hesitate when ordering: as much as I was looking forward to the omelet, they have corned beef hash, and that tends to be my go to so I can compare from place to place. but we'd come for the omelet, right? RIGHT? First world problems. Anywho - I ended up with the omelet (86 the tomatoes - I wasn't feeling them), and a spicy bloody mary, and I'm SO glad I went with my original plan. If you, like me, kind of scrunched your nose at the thought of crab & eggs, let me assure you, my friend, it's amazeballs. In addition to those, there was also Swiss cheese & spinach, and holy ****... my jaw dropped at the amount of crab. I was completely expecting to be a supporting actor, but it was definitely co-lead. There were delicious chunks of both body & claw meat, and I was loathe to let anyone try a bite, but I did swap for a bite of kiddo's dad's brie & bacon scramble, and it was worth suffering the loss of a nibble/ To wrap it up: everything we ate was delicious, the drinks were strong without being overwhelming (1 full Bloody + the flight had me at a good tipsy place), service was quick & attentive without being IN YOUR FACE (I wish I'd gotten our server's name... she was so sweet!) and Marco's is being added to our list of brunch places... Our first Marco's experience. Food was so fresh and delicious. Nice clean restaurant and bathrooms. We ordered the traditional breakfast and Huevos Rancheros. Good quality ingredients. Service was good. The only one thing I didn't like was the chairs, not comfortable at all. Small, no padding and hard as a brick. It probably won't prevent me from going back, but I might try to sit in a different part of the restaurant if the chairs are different in the room closest to the entrance. Super busy when I ducked in for a quick lunch on Wednesday, so you know they're doing something right. I can definitely attest to that. ---been coming here for years -- as the food is reliably good, served hot and fresh, with pro level service, better than average coffee, cozy Euro vibes and a neighborhood-y feel. They do breakfast, lunch, happy hour and dinner, and I've tried them all (the menu is pretty extensive) but my fave dishes usually come from breakfast/brunch side of the list. This last time I got the roasted veggie scramble, with nice fluffy blocks of butternut squash working against chunks of zucchini and backed up by a nice pile of roasted potatoes. Awesome, as was the super friendly server, who accommodated my requests with a smile and zero eye rolls. There's a separate bar/counter area if you want drinks or espresso, as well as an outdoor seating area, but you're basically on the sidewalk/street, so, not my thing. Wonderful time here! The ambience is really cozy and clean. The staff are really friendly. We went to this place on a weekend for brunch. The ambience is different with umbrella's all over the place which is very unique. Food is great here. We tried their classic cappuchino's and really loved the coffee. We ordered Portabella scramble and chicken club sandwich. Both were delicious. The interesting and most loved part about the brunch was fruits, they just sliced the fresh fruits and they were really fresh and delicious. Overall, I would definitely re-visit this place and would recommend to anyone in and around the area. read more

Coffee decent, food is bland. Came on a Sunday around noon and surprisingly got a table for 4. The coffee was tasty with their seasonal and different offerings. Service was also good. I got a chicken sandwich on their specials and it had no seasoning whatsoever. It also didn't have lettuce which is surprising for a chicken sandwich. The house made chips were good if you added salt, again no seasoning. Was disappointed in using the bathroom. Tried this spot for the first time after driving and walking by it dozens and dozens of times over the years. Came mid afternoon on a Saturday, probably right after the brunch rush. Plenty of seating, and was seated right away. Deliberated on the menu for far too long because it all looked way too good....but I ended up with the Cobb salad add bay shrimp. I also opted to try their chive ranch and it was excellent! As was the salad. My husband got the traditional breakfast and loved it! He also loved that they serve breakfast all day, which is perfect for us when I'm not a big breakfast person and prefer to have lunch items and he prefers breakfast. The service was really great also! Attentive, suggestive and friendly. Will definitely be coming back! We came for dinner at around 7. It was pretty busy. They have a dinner menu/service, so we didn't check the closing time. Apparently, it was *sharply* at 8:00. At 8:10, we were asked to leave because the window washers had arrived. The *outside* window washers - the unobtrusive, quiet, squeegee guys. And we weren't even by a window. And we had just barely received our second dessert (see below). And we weren't stragglers, there were were several other customers who were presumably also 86'ed. It was nuts. I am not mad, but given the many options in Portland, I would rather give my business to someone who appreciates it. Food was decent, but. nothing special. Other than being 86'ed, the service was friendly but kinda odd. For example, we both ordered dessert. Only one arrived, so we thought there was a mix up and we just shared it. As we were finishing it - about 10 minutes later, the other one just appeared with silence. No explanation. We had very high hopes due to prior reviews and the incredible looking menu, but our experience was very poor. Our order was taken incorrectly, which happens, but upon being delivered to the table it was practically thrown in front of us without a word and the person walked off. My sandwich was made wrong, my husbands biscuits and gravy was more closely related to Luke warm rocks and starchy cream. My daughter got chicken strips which were a piece of chicken breast that had been pounded to within an inch of its life and breaded. After waiting 10 minutes for someone to come back and check on us I had to go find someone to bring us more water and dipping sauces. I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

The price for this disaster was $22.50, overpriced, dry and tasteless. My friend had the pancake tacos; it also was very disappointing. Three cold pancakes folded over in a taco rack with a small dollop of whip cream and three berries in each. Again, over-priced, cold and no taste. Ambiance was pretty unique with the upside down umbrellas, you won't catch this unless you look up since they have pretty high ceilings. Now let's get to the food - Marco's has a decent size menu: they serve breakfast and lunch all day which can be a little worrisome, i feel the quality of food may go down if you offer both breakfast and lunch all day. I started off with the Pompadour coffee: pretty average, when i read the description, i was very excited and was expecting an out of this world coffee. The coffee tasted just okay, there's whipped cream that has cinnamon and cardamom which is a nice touch. I ordered the chilaquiles for my main dish and this was overwhelmingly bland. I had to add plenty of salt and pepper with hot sauce to really get a flavor profile. The salsa complimented the eggs and tortilla and the beans tasted fine. I probably wouldn't order this again. The blintzes - this was probably the best tasting thing I had here today. The sour cream compliments the sweetness of the blintz but if you don't like sour cream, i don't think it's necessary to eat with the blintz. I would consider going to Marco's again only if other breakfast places in the area were packed. I really liked Marco's hospitality and promptness in service but the food was just okay. read more

We came in for breakfast and everyone had something different. Every dish looked and tasted amazing! The portions were large. I had the gnome waffles. I know the whipped cream had to be homemade. The potatoes were good but the pancake was better. Had an espresso drink that was fantastic and it had a name like the Boss coffee. Highly recommend this restaurant. Such a gem of a diner in SW Portland! Marco's has an iconic umbrella ceiling for decor and homey menu items to satisfy a craving from any meal. I chose the fruit waffle, which was on their seasonal menu. The fruit was super fresh and perfectly complemented my Belgian waffle with a hearty dollop of fresh cream. Marco's also offers huckleberry syrup with all of their sweet breakfast items, which I highly recommend! It is so good. The restaurant has flare with umbrellas hanging from the ceiling and the service was prompt given how busy it was. However I thought the food was overpriced and frankly not that good. I had the French toast for $14 and a side of bacon for an extra $5. When I got my French toast I was surprised that I didn't quite get a "full slice" of toast. Mostly fruit on the plate.... I certainly felt taken advantage of. I'll include a photo and you can decide if it was worth close to $20. Just to be clear, I had not eaten any of that slice on the right! My friend opted for a brunch item and ordered the huevos rancheros. She thought it was delicious! The menu is a little pricey, but what isn't these days? I recommend getting the dressing on the side so you can have the portion you want on it. The fish tacos are a lighter meal so if you are hungry, add something else. Wandered into this restaurant at the bottom of the hill. Food was very good. They have learned how to make breakfast potatoes, unlike the places that believe you have to have tiny cubes that are greasy and jammed with peppers and avocados. The service was prompt, friendly and accurate. Our waitress, Lissette, was very pleasant.
