I have a 2004 Volvo S60 R. It is a great car and I really like driving it. About A year ago it started acting up. I bought it Used about a year before and I have never had a Volvo before. Whenever I drove it in heavy rain it would start to act-up. The warning system would start displaying error messages having to do with the traction control system and the car would start to shutter. I would pull over and wait a while and it would go away. I live in California so it doesn't rain that often. I took the car to a dealer and they quoted me 5000~6000. They said they were go to replace ECU's until they found the problem (I'm paraphrasing). At that point I called a friend that owns a auto repair shop and he said he couldn't work on it, but referred me to another shop. I brought my car to the other shop and basically they told me the same thing as the dealer. I really didn't want to spend that much on the car. I have another car so I just parked it. About six months latter I had some extra money saved up and I figured I would get it fixed and then sell it. I started searching the internet for a place to take my S60R. I found JK Volvo in one of the searches and it had great reviews. I am always skeptical about reviews on the internet (it could be a friend or the owner posting their own reviews). I gave them a call and talk with Mike. He was very friendly and helpful. He said he had a few ideas and wasn't going to just start replacing ECU's, but he did warn me that if he had to do that it could get expensing. When I went to drop off my car it wouldn't start, dead battery. I called AAA and got a jump. It started but all the gauges and interments weren't working. Also the traction control, transmission, and engine were in service mode (basically in a mode that is meant to help you limp home). At this point I had to get AAA to tow it to JK. At JK, Mike said that it could be the connectors between the ECU's. He said he had seen that before. He said he would take a look at it and give me a call. Mike called me and said, after looking at the connector, he really felt that it was the connectors. He was very honest and said he couldn't guarantee that that would solve everything. He also asked if he could drive it for a few days to make sure, if it work, to verify there weren't any other issues. I told him to go ahead. A couple of days later he gave me a call and said everything was working and they had replaced the connectors. It was almost a 20th of the quote I got from the other guys. I really mean 1/20th the cost. These guys and experts at Volvo's and the reviews are true. I was going to fix my S60R and sell it, but thanks to JK Volvo Specialists, I going to keep it. Now I have a great Volvo mechanic that I can trust and isn't that what we are all looking for .... TRUST. I have and will recommend JK Volvo Specialists to friends and family. read more

i took my 2001 S40 to the dealership to get it checked out and they wanted to charge me $3000 to fix it. My car is definitely not worth that much. However, I took it to Mike at J K Volvo and I was definitely impressed with the quality of service I got while I was there. Mike rechecked everything and gave me a quote that was half the amount than the dealership wanted to charge me, plus he gave me 10% off the entire bill. He's knowledgeable and friendly and he's been working on Volvos for at least 20 years. He even gave me a ride to my job and picked me up when he was finished with the car. Now I don't know if he is the cheapest around, but he is definitely worth a little extra. I will definitely be taking my car back when I need service, which is good because now, a week later, my check engine light has turned on so I took my car back to Mike to see. He let me know what the problem was, but he also knows that I am really strapped for cash in this time (horrible recession), so he waived my diagnosis fee and let me know that I could come in when I did have money and he would help me find the cheapest solution to my problem. I have been taking my vehicle to the local dealership while my vehicle was still under warranty. The dealership tried to sell me things that the vehicle did not need urgently yet made it seem like my car was unsafe. All in all, the dealership wanted to charge me $3500 to make repairs. Mike and his staff literally saved me almost $1500 and made all the repairs necessary. His staff are volvo certified technicians that are trained up to 2012 year model cars. They were even able to perform software download to my vehicle to program it just like the dealership. They have all the factory diagnostic equipment and all the special tools. Now if I could only find some one like them to repair my toyota I will be a happy camper. Thanks Mike and JK Volvo for all your help. You guys are great. Best place in town. If you have a Volvo or Mini Cooper this is the place to go. The staff is up to date with 2015 models that I saw there. Super clean facilities and very professional. This place has been in business since 1969. Mike took over his fathers business and knows how to make you and your Volvo feel welcomed. I brought in my 2006 Volvo XC90 for routine maintenance. Not only did they do the work correctly they also fixed some annoying cosmetic things on my car FREE of charge. I can't believe how much they pay attention to detail. I came across J K Volvo on Yelp. I usually don't write reviews but Rudy did an spectacular job. I needed to reset my airbag for my front passenger seat. I dropped by the shop at 5:30 pm and Mike quickly directed me where to park my car. He informed me he would quickly free up one of his workers to assist me. After plugging in a device to my car, Rudy was able to clear up my airbag warning sign. I was in and out within 15 minutes. My warranty will expire in the next month and I definitely know where to go if I ever had any problems with my car. I highly recommend this shop. read more

Finally found a shop that can handle all of my wants and needs for the Volvo. Mike was very courteous and showed me everything that went wrong. My engine was running rough and Mike told me that I was only running on 4 cylinders, I then responded with, "That's good right?" (I assumed that was OK...), He then told me that my Volvo has FIVE cylinders...(I never knew...), can you believe they make these things with 5 cylinders!?! Fantastic! My extended warranty expired and I had to find another repair shop since the dealership is too expensive. I read some good things on here about JK so I decided to stop by. Mike took care of my car for half the price the dealership wanted. They did the 105k timing belt service and fixed the white smoke from the tailpipe. My car run so much better with the new Turbo. i took my 960 volvo there for repairs because the dealer in pasadena couldn't fix it they keep telling me one thing after another and i said that was enough of that. So here i go to JK volvo and they knew what it was and they fix it.
