This guy isn't going to try to rip you off or tell you parts that are fine need to be replaced. He will be my appliance guy from here on out. He will figure out the problem one way or the other.

Online information said it was probably a fan that moves airflow from the freezer to the fridge. Maybe a motor or a control board. The service tech came to my house to look at the fridge. This took about 10 minutes. I had already pulled the fridge out and had it ready to be checked. The tech just pushed some buttons on the fridge controls and read out a code within minutes. Nothing removed or taken apart. Based on the code, the cost for repair would be $824! Not to mention that the warranty would only be a few months. I could have done the same thing with the buttons and gave him the code to avoid a $95 service call. He could have then told me that he would charge me over $800 for the repair. Not too happy to be charged over $500 an hour for diagnostic work. People think about this before you commit to a $95 service call fee! That charge is applied towards the repair should you choose to go forward with it, pretty standard business practice in this industry I feel so no issue there The problem is the quote came in 4x higher than everyone else we used in the past. And I'm starting to believe that they do this on purpose just so they can claim their $126 for two minutes of work. For reference, I own a 78 restaurants across the US. A dozen here in Southern California. We typically hire a company called Stiles (highly recommend) , for our oven repair need. Unfortunately their tech was out on leave so we had to find someone new. We needed a fan motor replaced on one of our ovens (we provide the parts), a job Stiles charges $155 for and takes about 15-20 mins. These guys came in, looked at it for 2 mins and quoted $800. Definitely not happening! I'm sure they were happy charging their scam charge of $126 for a 3 min trip. I should've been more cautious when the representative on the phone told me they had issues with businesses wanting to pay the $126 so they required my card upfront before they would schedule Avoid them at all cost !!

It was nice that they send a link to track the technician but I don't think it was working. Good thing Steve called ahead and informed me he was due to arrive in 30 minutes. He arrived along time and quickly diagnosed the problem. It was a bad compressor which required about a two order window. Steve was very professional and advised to contact the manufacturer to see if it was under warranty. After contacting the manufacturer it was still under warranty but they require a service technician in their network to come out and diagnosed which would cost $145 and then they would order the parts. So glad JEA's service call was $50. Otherwise, I would have used JEA to continue the repair but it would cost me over $900.
