About 6 months ago, in November 2024, I took my 2009 Honda Pilot to get the alternator replaced, they also told me that there was a leak, gaskets needed a new one. With additional work, brakes needed new ones. I agreed to pay for all those almost $3000.00. When they called me to pick up my car, I did pick but after driving less then few hundred yards, the engine light showed up. I took it back they said it was fixed, it was not really. I have no idea about the engines, I trusted their word. It was still dripping on my garage floor. Anyway, after another shop had diagnosed my engine, there was a leak. I took my car back to them again. It was under warranty. Well, this time, a young man asked me to open the hood. I did, he lifted the cover over the engine, and he said there was no leak instantly. At that moment, I was very upset. I took it back to another shop to be diagnosed. two mechanics confirmed there was a leak, and they even took a picture of where the leak was. Finally, we came back to them, they lifted the car in the shop, and they could see the leaks. To make a long story short, they were not very friendly to me. Time will show, did they really fix the oil leak? And I noticed, my door locks were not working; when I left my car, all the locks were working. I had to take another shop, they fixed the problem. There are some customers who were happy with their service, but I am not happy with their service. I will never take my car to them, while they are working on one problem, they created another one . read more

Our car needed some hoses and serpentine belt replaced. We heard from our neighbors that this was a good place to go for repairs. They did not disappoint! I'd give them 10 stars if I could. We took our car in for an oil change and asked them to give it a once-over. They had everything done in just a little over an hour. Fantastic service and so much better than any dealership that takes forever to get an appointment and then forever to have it serviced. We actually came to JM's because another local shop told us we needed a $6,000 automatic transmissiom replacement on our 2009 Chrysler Town & Country. JM's replaced a transmission pump at a cost of less tha $2,000 and the car runs fine. Since then JM's has done other work on our cars, and all of it was done extremely well and at fair prices. My truck overheated once and this shop diagnosed it as having a blown motor and cracked head gaskets. I took it to another shop, and they determined it was just out of coolant. One bottle of coolant later, I'm safely driving around with a very much not blown motor. My husband took his diesel truck here and JM's diagnosed it as needing a new turbo, new fuel injectors, and new catalytic converter system for a grand total of about $14,000. We took it to a diesel shop in Tucson, where they replaced the turbo and one fuel injector for $5,400. We will definitely not be coming back to JM's. read more

Beware. Especially single women or elderly people who might not know when to ask questions if RED FLAGS go up. See JM's write up on this page to "stop in for a free estimate". Really? My first experience with JM was to have a dead battery replaced last year, I was new to the area, having moved from MN; however, within weeks, the new battery was completely dead. JM said that it was my responsibility to get my dead vehicle back to them (less than 1/2 mile away) so they could put a new warranty battery in; I had to call a wrecker for the second time to jump start my vehicle, costing me another $45. That really should have been my first Red Flag...that they wouldn't send someone over to simply jump start my car, but since my Emergency Road Service paid for it...I let it go. Today was my second experience with JM. Since I already know what is wrong with my car (the back window needs a new regulator because the window won't close; and the gas gauge isn't accurate), I made an appointment to have my car repaired by JM Automotive...(it was not an appointment for a "free" estimate...I didn't even ask for an estimate), the repairs simply had to be done and being new to the area, I was familiar with them and hoped they would be honest; and I had a good feeling about the place because of the rapport I had with their mechanic on previous maintenance work. I dropped my car off today at 8 a.m. and the shop called me back just before 11 a.m. (I thought to tell me the car was ready to pick up). They informed me that they spent one hour evaluating the two issues that I told them about and that they were charging me $100 for their Free Estimate. RED FLAGS. The shop employee went on to tell me how much the repairs would be on top of their $100 "free estimate". I told them not to do any work on it and I immediately went over to talk to the owner about the $100 estimate. To make a long story short, I did not have to pay the $100 Free Estimate; however, the Owner was unprofessional. When I told him that I no longer trusted his shop to work on my vehicle (only because of the extra $100 Free Estimate I was being charged for), he told me that "YOU AREN'T OUR TYPE OF CUSTOMER"...(he said this more than once, trying to bait me). When I asked him for my car keys so that I could leave, he sneered and asked me "Where ARE they?" ... I said ... "I don't know, I wasn't the last one to have them" ... and as we were walking out to the yard where they keep the cars, to see if the keys were in the ignition, he tried to intimidate me more by telling me that he didn't like the "smirk" on my face, and said other unkind things. He previously tried to explain to me that people can't walk in to a medical clinic and get a free estimate (well...I used to work for a hospital, don't like that analogy and I wouldn't let him go on with that little rehearsed speech. I told him that I just wanted to drop the conversation and leave...because I realized how valuable he thinks his time is and didn't want to risk getting charged. haha I felt like I was in a playground fight with a Big Bully. I have to say that their mechanic is a very nice person, and as I was leaving in my vehicle, he told the owner that my back inside door panel was off and needed to be snapped back on along with the door handle and window control...so the owner stopped me, told me that the panel had to be put back on...and I agreed, but not before I asked him if there would be a charge...(it was "free"). I'm sure the mechanic felt uncomfortable being in the middle, not knowing exactly what had transpired, or why I was leaving, so I simply chatted with him about his dog so that he wouldn't be involved. I told my ex-husband about this experience and he urged me to post on Yelp to warn people (I have never posted a complaint on Yelp, or any other site before); my ex-husband's family owned and managed two generations of car dealerships in Northern Minnesota, customer service was important for the dealerships and for the community. I would refer people to GASOLINE ALLEY (on Camino Casa Verde... a friend of mine gives them high ratings). This morning, as I was on my way back to pick up my car at JM and talk to the owner about their $100 Free Estimate, I stopped in at Gasoline Alley to inquire about the two issues that I have with my car (I didn't tell them that it was sitting in their neighbor, JM's lot, or anything about what had just transpired)... and in less than one minute, they told me exactly what is wrong with my vehicle and how much it will cost to fix. It happens to be exactly the same diagnosis as what JM spent one hour diagnosing for their FREE $100 estimate. Remember to pay attention to those RED FLAGS. And to you...Mr. Owner of JM Automotive...you need extensive Customer Service Training. Just because you own a business doesn't mean that you can be the Big Bully on the playground and try to intimidate women who aren't familiar with auto repair. read more

My car needed major repair work done today that involved replacing two axle shafts, previously thought to be motor mount problems that I now believe was incorrectly diagnosed by another auto shop. The bill was enormous and took a day and a half to diagnose and repair, but I feel like I left with a brand new car! The staff worked hard to get to the root of the problem and seemed to actually care about the overall wellbeing of my vehicle. They gave 110% to the job and I was very satisfied overall with the experience. read more

I'm not impressed. I visited them about a month ago, asking about repairs for my 2009 Toyota Rav 4. Chris took down the details, front left wheel bearing, front brakes and oil change, after I had given her the details, 2009 Toyota Rav 4, 6-cyl, all wheel drive, and said she would get back to me. I heard nothing for a month, called and left a voicemail, and was informed they don't do any estimates by phone, and that I would need to schedule my vehicle in. First off, why didn't they tell me that a month ago? She stated they needed the VIN, and I offered it to her on the phone, and she said no, I have to schedule it in. I JUST had gotten off a call with a competitor who gladly took the VIN and description of the estimates I need via text message. I look forward to hearing from him, but won't be contacting JM's again. read more

They've done fairly routine work for me, like putting running boards on my truck, and also troubleshoot/repair, my problem child the 2012 vw jetta tdi (they corrected a transmission fluid leak when the vw dealership told me they didn't know where it was coming from and just gave the car back to me). I had a very good experience with this company. I had some banging going on on the underside of my car and this company just happened to be next door to a dog groomer that I frequent. There was no charge for the estimate of what it could be, struts or something else. Turned out to be something else and was fixed for a reasonable price. I was taken home and picked up by them. Also, had a pick up in my yard moved to the driveway which was very nice of the guy-Eric. This company feels honest to me and the customer service was great. When I took the car there the next day the price was different, almost the same as all the rest I called. I was already there so I left the car a stewed all the way home. Not long after I received a call from Chris apologizing, she wasn't organized when I came in...it was early. My daughter was visiting Green Valley and needed an oil change. I suggested JM's Automotive and went with her to drop off her pick-up. We met Jerell, the owner, and I asked that he do a thorough inspection as she was traveling to Vermont. We dropped off her vehicle at 8:10. At 9:15, Jerell called and said he would like to show us the items he had identified. We drove to his garage where the truck was on a lift and he showed us 8 items. For each item, he explained the purpose, the planned service interval, and the current condition. Jerell then identified the maintenance items that were "musts" versus "good to do" . He explained things clearly and simply (sometimes multiple times), allowing my daughter to process the information and make informed decisions. We picked up her truck the next day and he reviewed each item repaired, showing us the vehicle, and the old parts (fan belts, hoses, etc.) It was easy to see the part wear and need to repair. In addition, Jerell provided a vehicle maintenance schedule (based on mileage) of potential upcoming service items. He passed on the key "watch items". The cost of repair was not cheap ... but reasonable; and the vehicle was completed in 24 hours. This was a superb experience based on the technical assessment, time, and cost. The most important aspect was Jerell's judgement, considering my daughter's travel plan and need for a pro-active maintenance approach. His communication skill is superb. We took our Avalon to J and m to have the strut hangers replaced. After a while we kept hearing a clunking noise and had no idea where the noise was coming from. Even took It to another repair shop, they replaced the rack and pinion , that is what they decided the noise was from. . Brought the car home, still had the noise. Monday we took the car to the dealer to have it checked out. After driving it and checking it ou, they found out the strut hanger bearings were installed improperly.
