This restaurant is located on the corner of 2 Main Streets. The music playing is classic rock, and all the songs are good ones. You order at the counter. Dann was working there and was very friendly and helpful. I ordered a chicken sandwich and a drink. There is a drink machine so you can get anything you want. I got Coke Zero of course. I got chicken and cheddar cheese and lettuce and tomato and a bit of mayo on a bun. It was served hot off the grill and very tasty. It was also very filling and pretty healthy because it wasn't fried.

I have enjoyed almost everything that I have tried here. Their Nashville hot chicken is delicious but it is spicy. Even the mild is spicy. They also have crinkle cut fries which is always a plus in my book. I recently tried their hand dipped corn dog. It was good but I wish it was a little more crispy on the outside. My family really likes their burgers but I have only tried a bite of theirs and it was pretty good. They serve bbq now so I would like to try that next. Service here is always nice and friendly.

Moved to the area a few months ago and have frequented this establishment, my dad recommended JS and I'm glad he did! So far everything I've had here I've enjoyed. Service here is great, prompt, kind folks behind the counter. I've yet to try to the bbq but it's on my list! The bbq bacon cheese burger is wild it has coleslaw bacon, bbq sauce & and onion rings. I had it after an 18 mile run not long ago, best thing I ever had in my life. With a mug of root beer on the side. *chefs kiss* I came back 2 days later for the burger, it was memorable. The corn dog here is tasty! The hot chicken sandwich will win me over every time. Made to order, fresh ingredients. The crinkle cut chili cheese fries are a big fat YES. The custard sundaes are a slice of haven, or should I say pie because it's loaded with layers of creamy custard, pie filling, and pie crust pieces. Truly delightful! Anyway, come eat here! The games are always on, the place is well maintained, the service is good, overall a good spot to visit.

If you want a good old American spot, Joes Schmoes is for you. From hot dogs to chili cheese burgers and spicy chicken sandwiches, nothing will disappoint. If you like fries on the crispy end, ask for crinkle cut, there are a lot of potato options from fries to tots so be sure you check it out. Service is friendly and quick, food is brought to your table. seating is accommodating for 2-8 people but consider this a place to sit down for a quick bite during your lunch break. Edit- Took some coworkers back today, everyone loved their food, unfortunately my coworker's spicy sandwich (Cluckin Hot) was not spicy at all but he still really enjoyed it.

Found this little Cypress gem after a quick search for "good hamburger near me." I knew it was a place you order at the counter and did not expect it to be as big and cute as it is. You walk into the area with the ordering counter, and there are large menus on the wall behind the registers. They were super friendly and pretty quick. Put in your order and you'll get a number for your table. They'll bring your food out when it's ready. If to the side is a dining room with several TV's playing sports with some banquettes and booths. Beyond that is another dining room with some awesome Nashville themed decor. There is exposed brick, reclaimed wood, and garage door windows. This place has a big menu with burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, corndogs, and the list goes on. The kicker is that they are cheap!!! A cheeseburger is only $6.95, or $12.95 for a combo. We ordered three cheeseburgers combos, two with fries and one with house made potato chips. We also got a corndog with coleslaw. None were earth shattering, but they were good, especially for the price. Seeing that this place is literally around the corner from my father in laws house, I can see us returning often.

They glow up is real at Joes. The decor and all the tvs make it feel so cozy. The food was already good and now they have bbq stuff to amp it up! Sooo good. Dont walk to fast past the specials out front. Thank you for a great food and being consistent!

Honestly, I was all prepared to give this joint a 3. The chili cheese dog combo, while above average, wasn't super impressive. The chili was a little thin, which I don't mind if it isn't super chunky, but this one felt more like sloppy joe sauce rather than a proper chili. Also, the flavor wasn't really punching me in the face either. The bun was rather flimsy and fell apart after two bites. The hot dog itself was alright and had a proper snap and good flavor all the way to the last bite. Another grievance I had was my meal almost took 20 minutes to get to me after ordering, even though the joint wasn't overly busy and my order was a super small and easy one compared to some of the larger parties present. The staff was nice enough and the space was pretty ample for an establishment of this size. The ambiance was good for sure. It was just the little things that kept me from saying this place was worth the forty minute drive out. I think the item that saved this food joint from a worse rating was the concrete (mixer). I've been a fan of the sweet treat since my first trip to Minnesota and Culver's all those years ago. Indeed, a big reason I wanted to come to Joe Schmoe's was their concretes are so highly regarded it seems. My Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Concrete was sublime. Thick, rich, creamy, big chonky bits of the peanut butter cups, and just a divine mess of sweetness--I couldn't have asked for a better treat to cap off this meal. I would have this concrete a dozen more times, a thousand more times even. It was why the gods bestowed frozen custard upon us lowly mortals in the first place. It was our destiny to finally achieve this level of dessert/snack satisfaction. And if we have to get through a perfectly average meal to get to this ultimate reward, then so be it.

Update: Went here yesterday for lunch and they have updated/rebranded themselves as a Schmokhouse. They now offer barbecue on Thursday through Saturday from 4:00 pm until they run out. See updated menu pictures. My wife was able to order their Schmoked brisket and grilled cheese sandwich that include a small cup of tomato soup to dunk your sandwich in. The sandwich is good. My only critique is the tomato soup was was very sweet. It tasted more like marinara. I suggest tweaking it and add a little heavy cream and possibly some chicken stock. I had their bacon cheeseburger which is highly underrated. It's very good. I also had their Chicago dog which very good as well. The interior is super clean and we like their booths. It's very comfortable dining inside. The staff upon entering were very friendly and welcoming. They even thanked us upon leaving. I can't wait to come back and try their Thursday thru Saturday barbecue menu.

It looks like things are happening! Expanding the length of the place & maybe adding to their menu. An awning says "Smokehouse" as well as "Bar-B-Que" that I don't recall seeing before. Joe Schmoe's has been here for years (we were one of their first customers) offering an eclectic menu that's popular for a reason. Fun food done well. Customers order at the counter & service is efficient & friendly. The building is casual & unique & there's lots of parking spaces. It's located near Chaba, a Thai restaurant we frequent regularly but soon we'll go back to Eat At Joe's!

This place was a hidden gem. Came for burgers and they were delicious! Cooked so well, lots of veggies in the bacon burger and meat so juicy. The ordering process with the cashier was easy and she kept us informed since it was our first time. I can see this place being busy on the weekends. I almost feel bad about writing this review because I guess I never wrote a positive one over the past few years; I've visited Joe Schmoe's regularly for what I always considered "Disney quality" corn dogs (IYKYK) and amazing milkshakes. However, my most recent experience was so egregiously bad that it wiped out years of good ones. Here we go: Last Thursday I visited with my family and my out-of-town friends who always insist on a Joe Schmoe's run when they visit. For the first time, the corn dogs were nasty...burninated shriveled little husks of their usually resplendent selves. My kid and I ate ours but our out-of-town guest returned hers....and got another blackened corn dog. As we were finishing our meal, my spouse pointed to the trash can adjacent to the patio gate. The gate swings freely above the patio pavement, and in had wandered a little rodent...a really big mouse? A teenaged rat? Clearly the gate's bottom is too high to keep pests out of Joe Schmoe's eating area. As pets, I'm a huge rodent fan. In restaurants, not so much. Mickey made himself comfortable next to the bin, munching on a bit of dropped lettuce. We figured that we should alert the staff so that they could shoo him out. We waved down one staff member who waved down two more. They pointed, laughed, and snapped a couple photos, and then one of the cooks CRUSHED THE RODENT WITH HIS FOOT in full view of everyone on the patio. It took two stomps to end Mickey's little rodent life. Chef Murderpants retreated to the kitchen and retrieved a plastic glove, which he donned so he could pick Mickey up and TOSS HIM IN THE DINING AREA GARBAGE CAN. Then, easy as you please, he walked with his rodent-crushing kicks back into the kitchen to keep churning out burnt corn dogs. And just like that, Joe Schmoe's made it to our "never again" list. I'm leaving this review in hopes that the owner might see it and reach out for the story. I hear y'all own the Pasty Kitchen now and maybe also a pie restaurant? Please do something to make sure your patio and kitchen are vermin-free and your staff is educated on what to do if such a situation arises in front of customers again in the future. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE My parents and I used to get their fish sandwich? fish burger? It used to be my favorite thing ever, but they got rid of it :-( Now I just get the grilled chicken burger, and it's still as good! Their portions are so generous, and the vibes are immaculate. It looks like a small, family-owned shop from outside, but when you go inside, it's like a whole different VIBE. It kind of reminds me of cane's, but better! Workers are also very nice every time i go in! read more

Joe Schmoes is good. I used to eat here alot too when i lived in Cypress. I like the Chili Corn Dogs with fries and all . Its really good here. Chili is not all greasy and oily like i would find it at other places. Feels good to come here once in awhile. read more

Went there Sunday 10/5 for two orders of broccoli salad, waited 10 minutes, orders continued to be sent to customers. I went to the counter and asked where my order was, the man behind the counter said they do not sell broccoli salad on Sunday. What but you charged me. Not a very good experience. read more

Ordered a cookie dough concrete as a snack. Service was great-swift and friendly. It's an interesting restaurant--looked like an old Wienerschnitzel building attached to a sit down restaurant section. The concrete itself was good, not remarkable. There was a little bit of soft gritty-ness to it that stopped it from being great. Decent serving for the price but not necessarily a good value. Would consider coming back if in the area to try the hot chicken but probably not for the concrete. read more

Hey Mike and Nick: hey, it had been some months since we had been over to your joint. Well- Not again...take out item either wrong or missing. We were looking forward to getting some warm food and hubby suggested joes. Ok. Well, order was not correct. On the receipt it says sliders on TWO different lines. They could not get it right in spite of the word printed on their receipt. Strips were sent in lieu of sliders & The strips were so-so. The blue cheese slaw was -ug- soupy. The onion rings were hours old it seems. Bummer it was another bummer. C'est la vie. read more

I live out of the area but went to Joe Shmoe's 2 times over the past week while visiting my Dad in Cypress and ordered the Nashville chicken sandwich "Hot" both times. The service and friendliness of the servers is outstanding. I ordered at the restaurant once and online once. Both times everything went smoothly. The "Hot" chicken sandwich is H.O.T. . They have one even hotter that they call "Cluckin Hot" but there's no way I could do it. My son on the other hand is going to try it in a week so I will update my review once he does. Hope he has a gallon of milk nearby. The restaurant is extremely clean and organized. Next time I'm in this area I would sit down and order one of their 29 degree beers instead of getting my food to go. Just a great place that I would give 10 stars to if I could. I submitted a picture and it makes the sandwich look small. It's just the picture. The sandwich is not small. It's a normal sized chicken sandwich that is actually slightly larger than expected. **3 STARS** Standard classic American fare with an expansive menu (Menu ranges from corn dogs, burgers, Nashville hot chicken to concretes/custards) Apple Pie Custard/Sundae (4/5): Joe's vanilla custard/icecream topped with their house apple pie and crumble. The sweetness of the vanilla icecream added a nice contrast to the spice and cinnamon of the apple pie. Really enjoyed the flavor of the pie with the crumble for additional texture. Would recommend for apple pie lovers! Boysenberry Custard/Sundae (3/5): Joe's vanilla custard/icecream topped with boysenberry compote and crumble/pie crust. There wasn't anything too special about this sundae, I think the vanilla flavor from the custard overpowers the boysenberry flavor. The sundae itself is not overly sweet but compared to the Apple Pie Sundae, I would choose the Apple Pie. Recommend for anyone who enjoys the flavor profile of berries and cream. Nashville Chicken Tenders (3.5/5): Not overly breaded, there was a nice heat on the chicken (ordered Medium) and was much spicier than expected. The chicken itself was a good, not gamey or tasted like tenders out of the freezer. One thing I felt that was lacking from the flavor was that smokiness that you would normally find in the Nashville Hot Chicken. Points though for not being overly powdery or oily. Irish Nachos (3/5): Fries (Your choice, just make sure you ask the cashier to substitute a different style of fries ie. Crinkle Cut) topped with melted nacho cheese, bacon bits, and green onions. The French Fries were very fresh, crispy and had a good amount of potato on the inside. One thing that did throw me off about this item was the overpowering taste of chili cheese. Despite not having chili cheese in it or maybe the nacho cheese that was used it also used for their chili cheese fries, the dish tasted strongly of chili cheese. Mac and Cheese (2/5): More on the runny side, less of a baked mac and cheese. It didn't have an extremely artificial taste that was reminiscent of Kraft Mac and Cheese but it didn't taste like Velveeta or other typical Mac and Cheese either. read more

Under construction when I visited but the back dining area is still open. Got a "Babe Ruth" combo. Was not disappointed. Hot off the grill, crispy dog with sour kraut and grilled onions. Fries were perfect. Crispy on the outside soft on the inside. They also serve beer. Though I didn't have any. read more

I've been coming to this place for years and I've never had anything bad here. I always run into a lot of regulars here. It's all covered patio seating. It can get pretty hot during the summer but they have tons of fans and water misters to cool you down. I also love that dogs are allowed on the patio. Normally when I come here I'm being good and get the salad (they have the best salads here) but on my cheat days I highly recommended the frozen custard and Irish nacho tater tots read more

A friend recommended I give this place a try so this was my first time. For a fast food burger restaurant, the decor is very nice with a 1950's feel. I had a cheese burger and it was very good but definitely on the small side for the price of almost $9.00!!! That's the only complaint I have for this place is the prices are too high for the portion sizes. I'll try something different next time and see if it's a better value. read more

Guilty Pleasure Confession: I love corndogs. But not just any corndog...it's got to be a big, thick, beefy, hand-dipped, fresh out-of-the-fryer type of corndog. You know what I'm talkin' about. If you're like me, & crave amusement park-style corndogs but aren't quite ready to congregate around large groups of people yet, then turn that frown upside down, because there's a place in Orange County where you can actually satisfy that craving: "Joe Schmoe's"!!!! Located in the north Orange County suburb of Cypress, "Joe Schmoe's" exterior is a cheerful bright red & yellow with an ice cream cone near the peak of the roofline that's sure to make you smile. Actually the name alone ("Joe Schmoe's") makes me giggle every time I say it! Offering a large variety of menu items, "Joe Schmoe's" has something for everyone! Some of their fresh, made-to-order treats include: unique specialty hot dogs, burgers, sandwiches, chicken, tater tots, fries, salads, baked goods, frozen custard, & of course....the biggest, baddest, best corn dogs you'll find locally outside of "the mouse's house." As it can get crowded inside, if you are immune-compromised, &/or still taking extra-precautions due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, you can still enjoy "Joe Schmoe's" tasty treats by using what they call "Alleyway Pick-Up." Whether you order in-person or online, just let them know that you want "Alleyway Pick-Up," drive to other side of the restaurant (in the "alley"), & they will bring your food to your car --- neatly boxed, hot, fresh, & delicious! For us, the "Alleyway Pick-Up" is our preferred (& convenient) way to enjoy our treats while still staying safe. Hand-dipped to order, these corn dogs are served piping hot & fresh, & they're so huge, "Partner-in-Crime" laughs every time I struggle to wrap my lips around this massive corn dog! The only downside: sometimes there may be a small spot (or two) on the corn dog that is so soggy to the point where the batter falls off, but overall still a great corn dog! * Specialty Hot Dogs: "Partner-in-Crime" has ordered L.A. dogs (bacon-wrapped with grilled onions & peppers), classic hot dogs, & gives two (2) thumbs up. * Crinkle Cut Fries: Too hard. Tastes too processed. Not a fan. * Onion Rings: I prefer beer-battered, but these are "OK." * Homestyle Fries: Next best thing to the iconic burger place that everyone knows & loves here in California. This is the fourth time we have eaten at Joe Schmoe's and each time it has become increasingly worse. Today, my husband ordered two Chicago dogs. He started to eat one of them and noticed that the texture of the hotdog seemed strange, mushy to be exact. It didn't taste anything like a hotdog. He asked me to taste the it and I immediately spit it out because it felt like it was raw meat. There's no such thing as a raw hotdog so what the hell did they serve my husband? I ordered off the special menu, a brisket patty melt. Since it was on a special menu and was made with brisket, you'd think it was going to taste delicious. Well it wasn't good. The bread was completely burned and the grilled onions were mostly onions skins. Honestly, I may have been bamboozled and the meat was probably just plain old ground beef. My husband went to the front counter and told the employee about his hotdogs and they kindly swapped them out for some spicy chicken sliders. Unfortunately, the sliders were not good either and the french fries that came with it tasted like they were cooked in old grease. We spent $48 for dinner and ended up throwing away almost all of it. We didn't ask for our money back, but we left very disappointed and will never return. read more

The food is always excellent. It is the definition of comfort food! This is our go-to place when we can't decide what to eat. The burgers are phenomenal, the corn dogs are incredible, and the LA Street Dog is awesome. The service is always friendly and helpful, and will offer suggestions if needed. There are always multiple sports shows on all the televisions, so you will often find teams coming in after games. There is seating for small groups or larger families. Always a great choice. read more

Excellent joint. Nice atmosphere and super friendly service. I went with the classic cheeseburger it was delicious, a little better than the Habit imho. In n Out needs to try the fries here so they can be schooled proper. The comeback sauce had me comin back over and again dippin those tasty fries...if I had to guess how its made I would say 60% mayo 20% bbq sauce and 20% chipotle sauce blended up together. This simple lunch was FIRE!! And I had to try the custard 50/50 and it did not disappoint. Perfect dessert for my lunch, so creamy soft and buttery. Reminded me of Joes italian ice vanilla custard.My only complaint is with the custard spoon...its really deep but the scoop is short, makes innapropriate noises when trying to get in there with the mouth parts lol. I WILL BE BACK to try the other menu items. I cant believe they have been open 12 years and I am barely trying them out. read more

What a great first visit at Joe Schmoe's! I perused the menu online and found a lot of fun hot dog and hamburger combinations. We ordered online and got the Nashville quarter chicken, Irish nachos subbed with crinkle fries, corn dog, and chunky monkey custard. There was a slight wait even though the online ordering system said it was ready for pickup, but I didn't mind because when we got home, the food was still piping hot! They really make the food to order. Everything was greasy, salty, and delicious! The broccoli salad was a nice surprise and reminded me a lot of the one at Souplantation! I also loved that they included everything in a large takeout cardboard tray so nothing spilled or got smashed. Thank you for also including ketchup and mustard. Everything was packed super well! The custard is also a must try if you've never had frozen custard before. It was a little on the sweet side so get one to share or eat half of it and store the other half in your freezer!! I am living very close from this restaurant, so I gave a try. I have ordered chili cheese fries, L.A. street dog, and corn dog. Chili on the fries were mediocre, and there was nothing special. I hate the sausages inside of the hot dog, and corn dog because those were very chewy, and smelled bad. The corn dog itself was very salty. Everything is over priced considering the quality of ingredients, and they do not offer any combo meals, so I had to order fries and drink separately. I couldn't understand why there was a tipping option when I paying with the card, because this is not a restaurant that provides a full service. First timers to this little gem. I consider myself a self proclaimed corn dog aficionado and these were way up there on my favorites list! We also had the chili cheese dog and it was awesome. Been here before, but since it isn't real close to our home we forget about it until we are out on errands. We thoroughly enjoy it each time we have dined. This particular day we chose something out of our comfort zone and we loved it!! The Mac n'cheese hot dog with bacon bits. Super scrumptious combo and packed with flavor. Our onion rings were nice and crispy. We finished with a swirl chocolate/vanilla custard in a waffle cone which we shared just the entire meal. Don't leave without getting their famous custard. No visit is complete without it. Love the fact you can sit on the covered patio or inside the completely covered restaurant. They have lots of TVs around playing sports or various other things plus piped music. It's definitely a family and/or couple place to eat. So disappointed!!!! We come here all the time. The food is usually good and service is usually good. On this day, we asked for chili cheese fries, but asked that the put the chili on the side. I don't like soggy fries. They said they can't do that and would have to charge me two sides. Why... whatever you were going to put on the fries, put on a plate. I'll pay for the extra plate. They said no. Shocking. The food was below average. The fries tasted like they used old frying oil. You lost another customer loyal customer. read more

Ordered a pastrami sandwich and a large chili cheese fries to go. The French roll had a piece of mold on it and the meat was bloody and raw. I had to pop it in the air fryer another 4 minutes just to make it edible. I had to dump the bread. It came with aus jus. It's technically a French dip sandwich. Not a pastrami. I don't think they know the difference. Chili cheese fries was alright. I think they give generous portions relative to the price. Maybe I just got a bad item. I'm guessing the burger and hot dogs would be better. read more

I like ordering a double burger with bacon, joes Irish nash(which are either fries or tater tots). The fried chicken sandwiches are good as well, be careful with the heat level, I do mild because I like to enjoy my food. Delicious all-american classic hotdogs, frozen custard and unbeatable burgers! Frozen custard is an unbelievable form of ice cream that is popular in the Midwest and on the East Coast. It was invented in Coney Island, NY in 1919. If you ever made your own ice cream at home or ate some of your granny's homemade ice cream, you were probably eating frozen custard. Mike's chili came from an old family recipe created by his Uncle Joe. Not only that, hot dogs and hamburgers are good enough for any average Joe, and Joe Jost's was taken, so Joe Schmoe's it was! All of the menu creations at Joe Schmoe's are favorites of the American palate. Hot dogs, hamburgers and frozen custard have withstood the test of time with familiarity and flavors that are definitely All-American. Our best hotdogs are our "Snap hotdogs" that are all natural beef and natural casing to seal in the flavors and juices! Otherwise, we also have non-casing dogs for everyone's preference!

Established in 2013.

Nick and Mike's Hot Dog Adventure Mastering the classic American hot dog proved to be research intensive! Seeking to learn from the established wiener-masters, Nick and Mike began sampling hot dog stands around the country. They traveled across Southern and Northern California and eventually made their way to Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, and even Florida in search of inspiration for a quality hot dog they could serve at a reasonable price. The partners chose to serve the popular natural casing dog, which creates a "snap" when you bite into it.

Meet the Business Owner: Mike and Nick H.

Shortly after Nick Harris sold his previous restaurant of 30 years in 2007, he and his friend Mike Richards, the owner of Gourmet Pie for 26 years, decided to embark on a new food adventure. Having operated heavily-staffed restaurants, which take 50 to 100 people to run, the partners were inspired by the simplicity of a hot dog stand and the idea for Joe Schmoe's was born.

There was also standing water on the floor with no wet floor signs, barriers, or any warnings whatsoever. This was a clear slip-and-fall hazard in a busy restaurant. I calmly brought it to the attention of the manager on duty, Julie, and pointed out how dangerous it was--especially for guests using wheelchairs or with mobility needs, this was particularly concerning. Instead of addressing the problem, she dismissed it as "not a big deal," refused to complete any incident report, gave me a negative attitude with a mean facial expression, and then called security on me as if I was the problem. When the young security guard arrived, he asked for my ID. I politely refused and explained the situation calmly--he looked surprised but not defensive. I have photos documenting the ceiling leak, standing water, and lack of signage. This experience was disappointing and unsafe, especially from a hotel restaurant attached to a family theme park. Management should prioritize fixing hazards and training staff to handle legitimate guest concerns professionally rather than escalating them. I hope Knott's / Six Flags investigates and improves. This was my first time coming to this restaurant.

The patties were a little salty, but upon reading the other reviews, I see that the owner pre-marinates the patty meat. The prices were also steep for just the burger, and I thought my order would come with fries on the side, but that doesn't take away from the quality of the food. All in all, I would return for future orders and would love to see them open a brick-and-mortar restaurant someday, ideally in Garden Grove still. 10/10 rating and five stars all around for a seamless ordering experience, delicious food, and timeless customer service.

The whole space is whimsical, quirky, and full of personality. It does take a little while for the food to come out, but the quality and attention to detail are there when it arrives. The syrups and fruit purées are made in house, and my mom said the hot matcha latte was the best she's ever had. They also sell bouquets, plants, and little confectionary-style gifts, which makes the whole place feel even more charming. Korean-owned small business with very kind and genuine owners.

When I saw that this place had an orange pineapple smoothie that was made with orange sherbet, I knew I had to get it. It was exactly what I wanted and so refreshing. I used to get açaí bowls and smoothies often but most of the places I went to closed down so I'm definitely bookmarking this spot! Can't wait to try their other smoothies and açaí bowls!

A standout patty melt and efficient service, just avoid the harsh backroom lighting. I visited Joe Schmoe's at 5123 Ball Rd in Cypress for a business lunch with a vendor on June 5, 2026, around 12:30 pm. Parking was straightforward, and I found a spot immediately out front. From the outside, the restaurant has a classic 1950s walk-up feel. There is an extra patio area with sun shades that can open, which creates a nice roofed outdoor environment on cooler days. The ordering process is efficient. You order immediately upon entering, grab a number, and pick a table. The staff then tracks you down to deliver your food. The entire property, inside and out, felt very clean and well maintained. Tables were bused immediately as diners left, and the self-serve drink station was kept up nicely. The only negative aspect of the space was the lighting in the backroom. It uses a harsh spotlight style, and sitting in our booth literally felt like being under a spotlight. It was not pleasant. Fortunately, the rest of the restaurant features nicer, softer lighting that is much easier on the eyes. Drinks include Coke, Dr. Pepper, Sprite, tea, lemonade, and a selection of beers and diet soda. I ordered a Tillamook cheese patty melt as a combo with crinkle fries and a Heath Bar concrete for dessert. The patty melt stood out as exceptionally well-made. The onions were a distinct highlight, the Tillamook cheese melted perfectly, the burger was cooked to the right temperature, and the rye bread tasted fresh. The crinkle fries were cooked perfectly, and the Heath Bar concrete was a very tasty way to end the meal. While I don't remember the exact prices, overall pricing seemed reasonable for the quality of the food, especially for a casual business lunch. The staff was friendly and accommodating. One practical note for anyone planning a visit: the menu link on Google is currently a broken link that directs to a hot dogs page. You need to go directly to https://www.joeschmoes.com/menu to see their actual menu. Bottom line: I would absolutely return to Joe Schmoe's. This restaurant is best for anyone looking for good BBQ, sandwiches, hot dogs, and burgers. It had been about a year since my last visit with family and friends. I wasn't going to ever go back after our last visit. The reason being; the owners unprofessional yelling and cursing. While we were waiting for our order, the owner starting yelling and cursing on the phone to someone. My friend and self grab our small children and went to the back room. We said "we would never return but sadly I did, last week. I brought a friend, her son and my daughter after NFL. After ordering we sat in the newer back room, which is very nice. I realized I got my daughter f.f. not tots. When I told the girl I ran into on the way back up to the front. She loudly and rudely told me I can't change my I order. I explained "yes I can, I'm the customer". She proceeded to be rude. I went to the person in charge, he changed them. Not happily by the way. He then brought them to our table. He told us the owner doesn't allow them to change things, once an orders been started. He followed with stating numerous times that he was in charge. I guess you would have to be there to understand the frustration in the way and how many times he said it. So I swung by this hot dog place I've been hearing about. Gave their hot dog a shot and decided to spice things up with a chili dog as well. The regular hot dog was alright, pretty much what you'd expect. The chili dog, on the other hand, was a bit better. It had that extra kick that made it more enjoyable, though I wouldn't call it a game-changer. As for the service, it was okay. The staff did their jobs, but there wasn't much warmth or enthusiasm. You get your order in, and you get your food, and that's about it. No real complaints, but nothing to really praise either. The place has a relaxed vibe, typical for a hot dog joint. It's alright if you're in the area and need a quick bite, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. Overall, it's a solid 3 stars from me. HAMBURGER IS QUITE SMALL FOR $3.75. Fresh cut fries also good. Frozen Custard is quite good, but don't let the name fool you, most soft serve ice cream back east is called frozen custard. Owners claim that this is the first place in CA to have the machine that produces the product. Service was chaotic was chaotic, slow, my 1/2 my order was lost on one visit. After several business' moving in & out of this location, I think we finally found a "wiener"! Our delicious Reuben Dog had that special "snap". Chili cheese fries could have used a bit more cheese. The cheeseburger was tasty. Not thrilled about refills costing extra. At least 1 free refill would be fair. Want to try the frozen custard next & looking forward to trying all the hot dog toppings, even the one with the sour cream & tortilla chips. Prices for dogs & burgers are just a tad high. Here's the rundown: Mac N Cheese Hot Dog "Bacon wrapped dog w/ mustard, home made Mac N Cheese, topped w/ cheddar cheese & bacon bits" They got me at "Bacon wrapped dog" lol. The only thing I changed was getting mayo instead of mustard. I like mustard, just not on hot dogs for some reason. The verdict: Delicious. Mac N Cheese was good. The toppings were excellent, specially the bacon bits that added some crunch. The bacon wrapped dog, well let's just say I haven't had anything bacon wrapped that I didn't like. Processed frozen food.... nothing exceptional to rave about. The Rueben lacked meat. Had plenty of filler. Onion rings packaged not fresh battered. Tatter totts again frozen processed food. Hamburger nothing stood out making it a go to order item. Have had these items at other locations like John's Place. Joe Schmoes is not the place to go for amazing unique dinning. Wonderful first time experience on a Friday night. Our reservations were a bit late 10 pm, but it was worth it when they seated my friend and I towards the back corner booth fit for 4-6 people, but it was just us two.The black truffle creamed spinach was to die for I will go back just for that. I wanted to try their huge chocolate cake, but after our meal I was too stuffed to take another bite of anything.
