Been here before, but since it isn't real close to our home we forget about it until we are out on errands. We thoroughly enjoy it each time we have dined. This particular day we chose something out of our comfort zone and we loved it!! The Mac n'cheese hot dog with bacon bits. Super scrumptious combo and packed with flavor. Our onion rings were nice and crispy. We finished with a swirl chocolate/vanilla custard in a waffle cone which we shared just the entire meal. Don't leave without getting their famous custard. No visit is complete without it. Love the fact you can sit on the covered patio or inside the completely covered restaurant. They have lots of TVs around playing sports or various other things plus piped music. It's definitely a family and/or couple place to eat. They sell beer for those who enjoy a beer with their dog. read more

Excellent joint. Nice atmosphere and super friendly service. I went with the classic cheeseburger it was delicious, a little better than the Habit imho. In n Out needs to try the fries here so they can be schooled proper. The comeback sauce had me comin back over and again dippin those tasty fries...if I had to guess how its made I would say 60% mayo 20% bbq sauce and 20% chipotle sauce blended up together. This simple lunch was FIRE!! And I had to try the custard 50/50 and it did not disappoint. Perfect dessert for my lunch, so creamy soft and buttery. Reminded me of Joes italian ice vanilla custard.My only complaint is with the custard spoon...its really deep but the scoop is short, makes innapropriate noises when trying to get in there with the mouth parts lol. I WILL BE BACK to try the other menu items. I cant believe they have been open 12 years and I am barely trying them out. read more

First timers to this little gem. I consider myself a self proclaimed corn dog aficionado and these were way up there on my favorites list! We also had the chili cheese dog and it was awesome. Finished with the frozen chocolate custard and it was fantastic! The atmosphere was like Tootsies in Nashville. 5 Stars all the way!! read more

Local burger/Nashville fried chicken sandwich/ hot dog/sandwich spot. They also serve desserts and beer. I like ordering a double burger with bacon, joes Irish nash(which are either fries or tater tots). The fried chicken sandwiches are good as well, be careful with the heat level, I do mild because I like to enjoy my food. You can order pick up, you can pick it up on the side which is very convenient. They also have several types of hotdogs which I enjoy ordering as well. read more

So disappointed!!!! We come here all the time. The food is usually good and service is usually good. On this day, we asked for chili cheese fries, but asked that the put the chili on the side. I don't like soggy fries. They said they can't do that and would have to charge me two sides. Why... whatever you were going to put on the fries, put on a plate. I'll pay for the extra plate. They said no. Shocking. The food was below average. The fries tasted like they used old frying oil. You lost another customer loyal customer. read more

I go here all the time, and I love everything I've e ordered like the hot spicy chicken sandwich with coke slaw, BBQ chicken salad, tater tots, cheeseburgers and more. Yesterday, I had the funnel cake with boysenberries and ice cream OMG, it was incredibly delicious. read more

I have been here a hand full of times I've the years and have to say never anything to complain about. The staff is awesome and now that we're coming back off co-ved and have weird orders to go by I think they do an awesome job. Small but decided menu and love everting I have ever tried. read more

Ordered a pastrami sandwich and a large chili cheese fries to go. The French roll had a piece of mold on it and the meat was bloody and raw. I had to pop it in the air fryer another 4 minutes just to make it edible. I had to dump the bread. It came with aus jus. It's technically a French dip sandwich. Not a pastrami. I don't think they know the difference. Chili cheese fries was alright. I think they give generous portions relative to the price. Maybe I just got a bad item. I'm guessing the burger and hot dogs would be better. read more

It's rare for me to hand out five stars; but even though Joe is a Schmoe, he's no shmuck. He's a shining star! 1. Food was hot, fresh, delish and came out at a reasonable time frame. 2. Prices were reasonable. 3. Efficient, helpful and knowledgeable staff that accommodated special requests. 4. Clean and sanitary facility. 5. The place had character. Joe Schmoe's is a local joint that serves really delicious fries, hot dogs, burgers, and chicken sandwiches. Their fries are really good; they kind of remind me of in n out french fries. I would recommend their mexico city dog with guacamole, irish nachos, and chicken sandwich sliders. They also sell cold draft and bottled beer to enjoy with your meal. The restaurant is rock themed, with guitars hanging on the ceilings and rock classics playing in the background. There are also many TVs to watch the sports on. Will probably come back to watch a basketball game or something!! read more

I've been a fan of Joe Schmoes since it opened like 10 or 12 years ago and only live 2.5 miles away. They have a bacon cheeseburger that when cooked and done correctly to the order is one of the best ones I've tried around the Cypress/Anaheim area. Some years back I ordered this (because it's what I order when we go there) and it came to the table literally one side cooked and the other side raw. I let that slide because it was busy but today we go in and I ordered, you guessed it a bacon cheeseburger less the cheese and with only raw onion. It came out to the table and it was cold and had every veggie known to man on it with NO bacon. When the server came back I told him what I ordered and he was kind of flippant and said "oh, ok". He came back 45 seconds later with the same cold burger and all the veggies and said "there it's got bacon on it". The fries that came with the burger were like they were made an hour before we got there and they were also cold and tasted like they've been sitting around a while. I used to wait tables back in the day and I don't send food back because I've seen what people in a kitchen do when they get pissed that it wasn't good enough for you. It sucks because when it's good it's really good but I'm tired of paying good money for a burger and fries that arrive like these meals have. If I have to take a chance on every meal when I'm going to a place, I just won't be back at that place. It was good while it lasted. P.S. It wasn't the girl that took the order because she repeated exactly what I said to her so it came from the kitchen. read more

Five stars, upscale fast food, and excellent service. Drive up window for phone orders and a huge parking lot. Order came quick and 12 minutes, as promised! Top rated tater tots! One order is big enough to share...unless you want to oink oink! My pic is small portioned, I ate about 10 pieces from it. KIDS MEALS yay! Burger, grill cheese, hot dog or chicken strips. Comes with a drink (milk, juice, soda or lemonade) and side. My kids chose plain burgers, tots and fries. They said the burger was good but not their favorite. Ample amount food given! Lack of pictures due to hunger pains . Buttermilk fried chicken sandwich comes on a white or wheat bun, pickles and coleslaw. This is my man's favorite menu item, preferred over other places...yummy. Pastrami on rectangular bun, mustard and pickles. I really liked the taste, but it may need a tad more meat. I only ate half and it seemed sparse...maybe there's more on the uneaten half. At home, I chose to put creamy horseradish sauce instead of mustard, it was good! I'm hoping they offer/have creamy horseradish sauce if I eat there. This maybe a perk of to go and eating at home. We are regulars here and they are always consistently good. Please bring a cash tip for phone orders and drive up pickup...we didn't have any cash this time...keep small businesses alive! They gave me lettuce on a chicken sandwhich which wasn't supposed to have it, when I brought it back in to be replaced they gave me the same price of chicken with lettuce remains on it, the person I was getting this for had a lettuce allergy and I just wasted 30 mins of my time, $20 and didn't get to eat my food. Always saw this spot but decided to try with my husband and it was actually so good. The fresh cut fries are just like in n out and the tator tots were super crunchy. Didn't expect it but the seating was plentiful and nice despite looking small from outside. The girl who rang us up was also so friendly and patient answering our questions. Food was OK, nothing special. Servers were nice enough at the register. We tried a variety of things. A bacon cheeseburger, chicken strips, Nashville chicken sliders, hot dog, fries, chili cheese fries, custard, and onion rings. The onion rings were good but the rest nothing to write home about. Not bad at all, just pretty basic. I'd give it a 3 on the food alone. We did have a couple issues. With all that food, they gave us one side of ranch. I was specifically asked what sauce I wanted with multiple items. I said ranch for each, and even said extra please. We got 1. I asked for more and they gave me the tiniest side of ranch I've ever seen. As in, not even enough for one chicken strip. I asked for more and was given 1 more. I just let it be, because I didn't want to be that guy. As we passed the food out, we realized they forgot the comeback sauce for the Nashville sliders. Again, whatever, I'll roll with it. But then we realized the bacon cheeseburger came out as a plain cheeseburger. The guy asked when I ordered if I was fine with everything on it, and I said yes plus pickle. So it's not that he misunderstood me. I took it back to the front to point it out and they said they'd fix it. OK, cool. With the other food already there, everyone else was eating. I tried some of everything waiting for the burger to be brought back out. Everyone else finished their meal, I nibbled on what they didn't finish. I even got up and ordered the kids one of their concrete custards while we waited, and they ate that. All while waiting for the burger. We were getting up to leave when the burger was brought out. The guy said sorry but I dont know what took 20 minutes to make another burger when there was only one other table occupied and they already had their food. Mistakes happen but a few issues and the timing of it all was very disappointing. read more

We enjoy our local hot dog and burger sports bar place, but we are not big hot dog and burger fans. We have always enjoyed their chili, onion rings, broccoli salad, and homemade lemonade. Then, we top it off with the frozen custard or banana pudding. We found out tonight that the broccoli salad has been discontinued so we may have to lower our star count to 3! read more

My boyfriend decided to call ahead to pick up his order. The girl who answered stated (In Rude tone) it would be 30-45 minutes for all orders. He then asked "Even just for a chicken salad" and all he hears next was a dial tone. She hung up on him!! Really?? He then tried calling back because he thought they were disconnected, but no one answered. I get it they are probably short staffed still, but that's no excuse for Poor Customer Service. I would come hear 2xs a week during my lunch hour. But I don't think I will for a while. read more

I have been going to this place for the pass 6 years and have seen the service and care for the customers have gone down dramatically this year. If you change the way you order food to online vs over the phone at least check the descriptions of your food items. The least this establishment can do is apologize for the mistake and comp the drink and side, but even then the apology from both the staff member, and manager on duty shows the place shows even less care for their customers now. read more

This place is no longer on my go to list. The menu is limited and the service was poor. They brought my food out and gave it to the wrong customer. The customer carried the food back to the counter and told him that it wasn't his order. When the server brought me the same tray with the food on it, I told her I didn't want it she said why. I told her that I didn't want food that was paraded around the restaurant and she said well I don't think he touched it. So when she went back to get me a fresh order, she made some disparaging comments about me. I will never go to this place again and I don't recommend anyone else go there. The only good thing about this place is the beer was cold. read more

Wow just wow! I expected this place to be okay and pretty small. Boy, was I surprised. So after ordering our food we went outside to find a seat to sit. As we walked out we noticed the addition they have which is so cool. There is a huge lighted Nashville sign and TVs to watch sports games. Really cool area for a summer day out. I ordered the Mac n Cheese dog and loved it. Those are two of my favorite things so it definitely satisfied my stomach. I got the cheesy fries too but it just comes with a little cup of cheese. I still loved it because I cannot live without cheese! I heard or didn't hear there is a secret menu so I definitely want to try out some of the selections on that. I also want to try out there desserts since we were so full this time and could not eat anymore. I definitely recommend this place! It is delicious and definitely does not break the bank! read more

The first time I came here I tried their southern fried chicken. One thing i dislike with many Nashville hot places is that they hide their bad chicken with the intense spice. So I ordered their southern fried because it is the same chicken but without the spice so I can assess how they cook their chicken. Pleasantly surprised. T he chicken is juicy and not overcooked. Safe to say my next return I am confident to order their Nashville hots without having to worry about bad chicken Recommended the place to my co-workers and they are equally hooked Come here for the chicken. Delicious all-american classic hotdogs, frozen custard and unbeatable burgers! Frozen custard is an unbelievable form of ice cream that is popular in the Midwest and on the East Coast. It was invented in Coney Island, NY in 1919. If you ever made your own ice cream at home or ate some of your granny's homemade ice cream, you were probably eating frozen custard. Mike's chili came from an old family recipe created by his Uncle Joe. Not only that, hot dogs and hamburgers are good enough for any average Joe, and Joe Jost's was taken, so Joe Schmoe's it was! All of the menu creations at Joe Schmoe's are favorites of the American palate. Hot dogs, hamburgers and frozen custard have withstood the test of time with familiarity and flavors that are definitely All-American. Established in 2013.

Nick and Mike's Hot Dog Adventure Mastering the classic American hot dog proved to be research intensive! Seeking to learn from the established wiener-masters, Nick and Mike began sampling hot dog stands around the country. They traveled across Southern and Northern California and eventually made their way to Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, and even Florida in search of inspiration for a quality hot dog they could serve at a reasonable price. The partners chose to serve the popular natural casing dog, which creates a "snap" when you bite into it.

Shortly after Nick Harris sold his previous restaurant of 30 years in 2007, he and his friend Mike Richards, the owner of Gourmet Pie for 26 years, decided to embark on a new food adventure. Having operated heavily-staffed restaurants, which take 50 to 100 people to run, the partners were inspired by the simplicity of a hot dog stand and the idea for Joe Schmoe's was born.

A standout patty melt and efficient service, just avoid the harsh backroom lighting. I visited Joe Schmoe's at 5123 Ball Rd in Cypress for a business lunch with a vendor on June 5, 2026, around 12:30 pm. Parking was straightforward, and I found a spot immediately out front. From the outside, the restaurant has a classic 1950s walk-up feel. There is an extra patio area with sun shades that can open, which creates a nice roofed outdoor environment on cooler days. The ordering process is efficient. You order immediately upon entering, grab a number, and pick a table. The staff then tracks you down to deliver your food. The entire property, inside and out, felt very clean and well maintained. Tables were bused immediately as diners left, and the self-serve drink station was kept up nicely. The only negative aspect of the space was the lighting in the backroom. It uses a harsh spotlight style, and sitting in our booth literally felt like being under a spotlight. It was not pleasant. Fortunately, the rest of the restaurant features nicer, softer lighting that is much easier on the eyes. Drinks include Coke, Dr. Pepper, Sprite, tea, lemonade, and a selection of beers and diet soda. I ordered a Tillamook cheese patty melt as a combo with crinkle fries and a Heath Bar concrete for dessert. The patty melt stood out as exceptionally well-made. The onions were a distinct highlight, the Tillamook cheese melted perfectly, the burger was cooked to the right temperature, and the rye bread tasted fresh. The crinkle fries were cooked perfectly, and the Heath Bar concrete was a very tasty way to end the meal. While I don't remember the exact prices, overall pricing seemed reasonable for the quality of the food, especially for a casual business lunch. The staff was friendly and accommodating. One practical note for anyone planning a visit: the menu link on Google is currently a broken link that directs to a hot dogs page. It had been about a year since my last visit with family and friends. I wasn't going to ever go back after our last visit. The reason being; the owners unprofessional yelling and cursing. While we were waiting for our order, the owner starting yelling and cursing on the phone to someone. My friend and self grab our small children and went to the back room. We said "we would never return but sadly I did, last week. I brought a friend, her son and my daughter after NFL. After ordering we sat in the newer back room, which is very nice. I realized I got my daughter f.f. not tots. When I told the girl I ran into on the way back up to the front. She loudly and rudely told me I can't change my I order. I explained "yes I can, I'm the customer". She proceeded to be rude. I went to the person in charge, he changed them. Not happily by the way. He then brought them to our table. He told us the owner doesn't allow them to change things, once an orders been started. He followed with stating numerous times that he was in charge. I guess you would have to be there to understand the frustration in the way and how many times he said it. So I swung by this hot dog place I've been hearing about. Gave their hot dog a shot and decided to spice things up with a chili dog as well. The regular hot dog was alright, pretty much what you'd expect. The chili dog, on the other hand, was a bit better. It had that extra kick that made it more enjoyable, though I wouldn't call it a game-changer. As for the service, it was okay. The staff did their jobs, but there wasn't much warmth or enthusiasm. You get your order in, and you get your food, and that's about it. No real complaints, but nothing to really praise either. The place has a relaxed vibe, typical for a hot dog joint. After several business' moving in & out of this location, I think we finally found a "wiener"! Our delicious Reuben Dog had that special "snap". Chili cheese fries could have used a bit more cheese. The cheeseburger was tasty. Not thrilled about refills costing extra. At least 1 free refill would be fair. Here's the rundown: Mac N Cheese Hot Dog "Bacon wrapped dog w/ mustard, home made Mac N Cheese, topped w/ cheddar cheese & bacon bits" They got me at "Bacon wrapped dog" lol. The only thing I changed was getting mayo instead of mustard. I like mustard, just not on hot dogs for some reason. The verdict: Delicious. Mac N Cheese was good. Wonderful first time experience on a Friday night. Our reservations were a bit late 10 pm, but it was worth it when they seated my friend and I towards the back corner booth fit for 4-6 people, but it was just us two.The black truffle creamed spinach was to die for I will go back just for that. It was good but it was not worth the lineup, or the wait after you make your purchase. The cheesy fries are very good, and a veggie burger is great. The lemonade , not so much. It's really hard to find seating by the way.. read more

They feature a wide variety of burgers, both meat & vegetarian. Their fries are excellent and Joe Schmoe's are delicious. Of course, the burgers are the reason for going there - very good. read more
