My first visit. I had early evening rations. I ordered the tri tip sandwich and made it a combo. Sandwich quality was satisfactory but not outstanding. Meat was not cooked to order and was thinner than I would have liked. French Fries were satisfactory. I am dinging this establishment one point. Men's washroom was clean and had paper towels available... good. I do have a bone to pick about the personal appearance of the employees. We chose a burger with slaw and tots, an order of tenders and fries with Mac. While the food looked great, it lacked seasoning and flavor. The tenders were dry and the fries lacked salt. The tots were similar. The burger was decent but did not pack the punch of other burger places I've been to. I liked the cleanliness and rock n roll theme. The staff was nice. Wow! What a nice renovation! The back room was really cool already. Now, they updated the front dining room and entry to match. I love the decor! The menu has changed too. No more turtle sundae. We got there around 5:00 PM and were surprised to hear they were already out of brisket -- which is kind of a big deal for a barbecue spot. Since that was off the table, we ordered the sample platter to try a little bit of everything. Unfortunately, the ribs were really dry and barely had any meat on them. They felt overcooked and lacked that fall-off-the-bone quality you hope for. The mac & cheese was also disappointing -- honestly, you're almost better off making Kraft at home. That said, the tri-tip and pulled pork definitely saved the platter. Both had solid flavor and were cooked well, which is why this isn't a lower rating. Overall, for a barbecue restaurant, it felt below average compared to what's out there. There's potential here, but consistency and quality (especially on staples like brisket and ribs) really matter. This place is amazing, We tried a little bit of everything. The Brisket sandwich with the red slaw and the tri-tip sandwich we're on point. Meats were cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful. We also shared a Nashville slider with medium heat and a Chilli cheese dog. The slider was not too spicy and had a good spice. The slaw in the slider gave it a great blance and the chicken had nice crunch and was very tasty. The Chilli dog had a great snap to it and the Chilli was delicious even just on it's own. I went to Schmoe's when it first opened and can say that they had excellent food, so-so service, and higher than necessary prices for the whole dining experience. Well, my wife told me that her friend heard that Schmoe's was now serving bbq'd food. So, I took an old friend there yesterday. I can say, if money is no object, then go to Schmoe's. Their food is excellent quality, the service is very good, but approximately $42 for 2 sandwiches, french fries, tator tots, and 2 drinks was way overpriced, especially since the sandwiches are smaller than everybody else's in this area. For your money, I recommend Ghost Sando or Togo's Sandwiches for Pastrami. Ghost Sando and Togo's pastrami is easily 4 times the size for the same money. Schmoe's you can do lots better, and should. Your fries and tator tots shouldn't be larger than your premiere sandwiches are. read more

Something is different about their burgers but in a good way. I occasionally order burgers or chicken tenders and decided to order a burger tonight. The lettuce, tomato, patty, dressing down to the bread have all been changed. I don't know exactly what it is but the burger was delicious! It's fresher! The best part about ordering from Joe Schmoe's is that you can do curbside pickup and the service is fast and courteous. It always gives me the feeling like I'm ordering at a 80's diner. My husband went in tonight for a pick up order we got the non spicy tenders with Irish tots - and we got spicy tenders and plain tater tots . We also got a double cheeseburger no pickles or onions and it came with both pickles and onions . Overall a terrible experience and not sure if it was the manager or owner who took our order but he knew how to do nothing . We came all the way back home and realized this and when my husband went back in to get the tater tots fixed they offered him water and an extra ranch . Nice outdoor area that we saw in that was air conditioned and had TVs. Ordered a New York dog and Fries a Coke and custard. Large themed dog with a nice soft steamed bun. Had sauerkraut and grilled onion with mustard on it. It was very good. We got to hand cut fries which are well hand-cut fries. Next time we'll try the crinkle cut ones. The custard we got swirled chocolate and vanilla it was very good as well. Service was fast and friendly. Next time I'm trying a burger lettuce wrap and one of the big beers they have here. The service at Schmoe's is always great. The food is just okay now. It used to be a treat spot after games with the kids. The portions have seriously shrunk. I ordered a $15.00 smoked pastrami sandwich. My wife ordered a $15.00 tri tip. Both came in a tiny bun with "maybe" two slices of meat on them. The flavor was lacking as well. The outside looks like a hot dog franchise building, but when you walk in, you're greeted with counter service and hint of a larger dining area. The cashier we had was friendly and helpful. The parking is shared with other businesses and fairly plentiful. The dining area is themed and decorated with like maybe a diner country music vibe? That's not my genre, so I didn't relate to it, but I appreciated the effort. There are high ceiling fans, but the area still felt a bit stifling and there was no air conditioning when we went. :-( The food is extensive with different options of hot dogs, hamburgers, sandwiches, sides & more. They also have alcoholic and nonalcoholic options and shakes of different flavors. I believe they also have daily, weekly and monthly specials. Their french dip is not super exceptional, but it's good--make sure you get it with grilled onions cuz it enhances the flavor. They forgot to give me the auj jus (which is a weird thing to overlook since it's such an essential part of the sandwich) but we told the counter and they gave it us with no issue. The chicken sandwich is good, but it's small for the price. The Beer Brat is delicious, but just a warning, it's mustardy and pickly (I think they put picked onions on it). If you have a big appetite (or a normal one if you're a member of my family) get two or get it with another dog to get more filled up. The Reuben is also a solid and hearty choice.
