I love it! These guys have great coffee, quick service and a nice breakfast menu. I was passing through the area on a road trip and stayed with a friend who took me to breakfast here. I ended up enjoying the cappuccino and breakfast so much that I came back after dropping him off at home so I could get a triple latte to hit the road with. I can't believe it's taken me so long to get into Joe Van Gogh. A friend and I planned on meeting at Bean Traders, but it was unexpectedly closed for repairs, so we hopped on over to the Woodcroft Plaza to this cute location. It's a lot bigger inside than you'd expect from the outside! The décor is bright and the furniture is light, and there are plants hanging from the ceiling. The baristas are friendly and helpful. I got an oak milk steamer with peppermint and vanilla. It was festive and simple. I love that they have 3 different non-dairy milk alternatives. Their food also intrigued me- I would definitely stop in to grab lunch. The only thing that was disappointing is that they closed at 6pm. This surprised me because Bean Traders always is PACKED with students and working folks on laptops, knitting groups, parents with children. Joe Van Gogh has some of the best lattes I've had. I'm usually an Americano drinker, but I will always order a lavender latte if its on the menu and the seasonal brown sugar rosemary was something I had to try. The lavender latte was really good. It had a thick, sturdy layer of foam on top that created a beautiful design, and it wasn't overpoweringly floral. I grabbed an iced brown sugar rosemary latte to go one morning (I bribed myself to leave the house early with this drink). I recently had a rosemary latte at another local coffee shop and was not a fan, but this won me over. It was well-balanced with both the herbal tones and slight sweetness. I don't know how long the syrup will be available, but I need more of it. As someone who isn't supposed to drink milk (oops), I always try to make note of the non-dairy options. They have macadamia and soy milk available (for $1 and $0.50 upcharge respectively). At a glance, the food menu looked vegetarian friendly. I found the space to be open with lots of tables and fairly quiet. I think it's a good place to work (there's Wifi) or meet people. There were a few 15-minute parking spots available, so it's also easy to run in and grab coffee in the morning (and they are fast!). Friendly workers, good coffee, and a nice environment makes this my new spot to get work done. read more

I really like it in here. It's bigger on the inside than it seems from the outside. It's quiet and you can eat and eat your food. There are a lot of people here working and focused. They do have outdoor eating and parking is limited in the back but plenty in the front. Nice, quaint, quiet place to get your work done. read more

I've only been here once, but amazing first impression. My issue with small coffee shops is mostly the parking. A lot of them barely have any space or are more for people who live by. This coffee shop has a huge parking lot which may not be a big deal for some, but this place is much more accessible for people. There's is a lot of space to do work. Lots of table space. I got the cold brew coffee milk and it was delicious. Everyone was super nice. This is definitely going to be my new study spot. read more

The person at the register is super nice and informative! I came here after reading that they had lavender latte, my favorite!! After first experiencing it from Savannah, GA I have been looking for this all over! It's finally here in the RTP area! You do have to pay $0.75 extra for it, but it is worth it! The hint of lavender just makes the latte taste so much better! And the lavender is locally resourced from Hillsborough (what I have been told). They make the lavender syrup in house, too! I love all Joe Van Gogh coffee locations. Their coffee is always good and I love the food I've gotten their too, from cheddar scones to sandwiches. One of my go-to coffee places. Best cappuccino with oat milk, hands down. My partner usually orders the iced honey latte with oat milk. I usually order the egg sandwich. It is a good size and biscuit-worthy. Mmmm! My partner has ordered the frittata and breakfast burrito and she loves them. We have tried the scones, maple pecan, and new favorite - London fog. Their ginger molasses cookies are to die for. Always in low stock or sometimes out of stock. it's a popular item. I don't think you can go wrong with whatever you order there. I looooove this coffee shop in Woodcroft. The baristas are great, the food is good and the price is fair. Don't miss the seasonal lattes, they're listed by the cashier, or the egg cheddar biscuit, which is my favorite. One complaint: Terrible lighting! It's super fluorescent inside, making it less cozy than it could be. I wish they'd change the overhead lights in the seating area to something more yellow! I love this place! Seriously. Have not tried anything here that I didn't love. I've had their hot coffee and iced drinks - the iced matcha may be my favorite. I think matcha can sometimes be hard to get right and they def do! It's refreshing and very tasteful! Also their vegan peanut butter brownies are amazing! I LOVE Joe Van Gogh! It has quickly become a favorite for me to get work done, enjoy some amazing lattes, and snack on some delicious toast. They temporarily had a (seasonal) rosemary brown sugar latte which was excellent, and currently have one of the best lavender lattes which is made from a housemade syrup! Also, their toasts - both the almond butter and the avocado toast - are phenomenal. I'm partial to the avocado toast which has orange juice sprinkled on it instead of lime and is done so so well! The baristas are always friendly and knowledgeable. There is usually ample space and I like driving a little farther out to this location instead of going to some of the coffee shops closer by (where there is often no place to sit in the afternoons). read more

I have been a regular here for about 2-3 years. I have bought T-shirts and sweatshirts, also I have purchased coffee cups. I have promoted their cafe on my social media. I have come here about 2 times a week during this time period. I am not sure why, as I am friendly and cordial, but there are staff here that have once been chummy with me and now are totally cold. This has happened with a number of them and I do not know why they would treat a faithful customer this way. I am a POC, and as most of their clientele are passing for white culture and I see them very chummy with other customers, I am not sure but that may be a factor. I am astounded at how they think they can treat a loyal customer who has contributed so much to their revenue with such coldness, not talking to me as they once did, just ridiculous. Wisely, they're not allowing customers inside, opting to serve from a window/plastic barrier, along with online order/ pickup, which is flawless. Stopped by Joe Van Gogh on Sunday morning because I've been wanting to try their coffee for a while now. The place was airy and bright, and the staff seemed nice. I got two iced mochas--one for myself, and one for my husband, who is not usually a coffee drinker. The iced mocha was delicious. Very creamy and just the right amount of sweetness. I would not be giving this high a rating if their coffee weren't so very good because they are SLOW. We went on a Sunday and got coffee and then decided to get sandwiches as well. Our coffees came in a reasonable amount of time but our sandwiches took significantly longer. There was just one person handling all the food. We then went back on Monday (July 4) to get coffee as it was so good and while they were a bit busier, it still took a long time. We got Chocolate Cold Brew and iced latte with oat milk both times and they were divine. The sandwiches we tried were the Van Gogh Wich and the the Turkey Pepper Jelly Sandwich and they were both delicious. So my rating for coffee is 5 stars, food is 4 stars and service time is 3 stars. I would definitely recommend them but with the warning to expect it to take a while. read more

Honestly this place wasn't special. Had some great seating for doing work, and it was fairly quiet. The Chai latte wasn't very memorable and was a bit overpriced to be honest. Maybe coffee is their speciality and not so much lattes? It was also basically at room temperature. The service was nice, he was personable and kind. But not a place I'd get my chai latte from. I like Joe Van Gogh. I think their coffee is exceptional. Their baristas seem consistently well trained and capable. I'm really glad they opened this new store in south Durham. I have mixed feelings about how popular it has become. I definitely want JVG to be wildly successful, but I need to be able to use the same amenities as everyone else, including the wi-fi. I was trying to do a simple task the other day... specifically to load a map... and I couldn't get a page to load. I looked around and realized there were about 20 hipsters staring at their computers, no doubt killing the router. On the bright side, this is a beautiful store, nicely designed with really cool furnishings. The bathrooms are both HB2-compliant (I hope this post sounds out of date really soon), large and very clean. Parking is excellent, and if you are a Southie (Durham) the location is hard to beat. Mask signs all over. I figured they were left over from the previous two years of mask obsession, so I ignored them. Until I was told by cashier, behind a glass wall, to put one on. Was excited to try a new coffee shop that opened up in the area. I had heard great things about Joe Van Gogh, but I have been two times now and am not impressed. The coffee tastes stale and doesn't have good flavor. There is lots of seating, but the atmosphere for a coffee shop is not as cozy as I would hope. The pastries are all really small so I have not been eager to try them. Also, if you want to drink more than a sip of coffee, do not order a small. It is literally a small cup and only a few sips. I'm so excited to have a new coffee shop walking distance from my house. The atmosphere has an industrial vibe, and the staff is super nice. This place reminds me of my favorite coffee shop back in my old hometown. I ordered a café latte, it had a slightly bitter taste to it- as coffee tends to do some time. Overall it tasted pretty good. The coffees here are pretty small. The small coffee is 8 ounces instead of the usual 12, so you don't get quite as much bang for your buck here. read more

We saw on yelp they offered breakfast but did not see on large menu posted behind counter. We were getting ready to leave when we asked if they did have breakfast and then we were told there were paper menus in bin near counter. No visitor would have know. They were out of biscuits before 10am however the avocado toast topped with scrambled egg was delicious. Husband's toast, egg and sausage gravy were delicious as well. The brown gravy was not too thick and not too thin even with very little flour, but instead had plenty of meat and a rich taste --with no grease! I loved my gingerbread latte! It's quite expensive for two lattes and two small servings of breakfast food when one has to stand in line and do everything for them self in comparison to a sit down restaurant like Cracker Barrel, but the coffee so delicious and food so healthy, we will be back. read more
