This is a busy little local spot on Montauk highway. Seems like mostly locals or summer locals comes here. They have a big parking lot in the back, and a little bar where you can watch the game. They have an old school dining area. Does not look updated, but you can tell that it gets really busy. The staff hustles. We got seated right away, my dad and I ordered some burgers and pulled pork. It was average, it took a while to come out. The fries were good, the burger was good. Nothing that really wowed me. Lots of families and people were here. Hey there Yelpers, time to try a new place. We actually came here as a backup, or first choice was closed tonight. We have been driving by Joe's for a few years, each time saying that we have to try it, well tonight we did. Joe's has a wonderful pub like feel inside with a welcoming outdoor patio that has 5 to 6 tables. We sat and were greeted by our waitress Jessica. Jamie took very good care of our table as well. Some coming from the local brewery, we did not order any drinks. Our order consisted of the baked clam dip which was hot, moist and delicious. They clams were in a nice elongated baking dish, covered with cheese and a generous portion of chips. For dinner, my wife had the large salad with grilled chicken which she enjoyed. I decided to go for the rack of lamb, glad I did. The dish consisted of 4 pairs 8 total) of delicious lamb chops seasoned perfectly. I got 2v sides, fries and Mac n cheese. We have often eaten here and been pleased with the food and service. Tonight was different! Service was very inattentive and the bill was incorrectly added after my husband informed the server he would pay cash, which leads to a 10% discount. When my husband ( who normally tips 20-25%) tried to tell the server how his performance could have been improved, which would have earned him a higher tip, the server- incredibly- just called him cheap! In addition, in the mostly empty restaurant, there was a table of 4 whose occupants were very loud, even frequently loudly throwing the F word out there for all to hear. Quintessential neighborhood pub with a beachy feel. The food is fantastic! Especially, the swordfish and calypso shrimp. I come here at least once a week with the family. The servers and all of the staff is very kind and attentive. I can't imagine summer without this place! RIP Joe! read more

Went for an early dinner my wife and we had the french onion soup and split the ribs. We both felt the soup was to salty, (could have been the onions). The ribs were good fall off the bone. Service was prompt and attentive a very nice night. read more

A great spot to grab a bite to eat. They have a diverse menu selection if you have any picker eaters in your group. The food was absolutely delicious but the service was very slow that night. Apparently this is unusual I was told but not a great first impression. My daughter ordered the Buffalo chicken salad which was delicious and was large enough to have for lunch the next day. The chicken was just chicken tenders with Buffalo sauce on the side which was a little weird. I had the steak tidbits that came with a horseradish dip that was delicious. After years, finally stopped in for dinner. Great service. A bread basket! Clean, light, comfortable booths. I would totally go back and plan to make this a more frequent stop. Our server Natalie was terrific, friendly, and helpful. For the food, specifically, I have to say the $27 shrimp fajitas were just okay. These were $12 fajitas. The shrimp were average, the tortillas tasted very much like mission tortillas fresh from your local grocery store, and the guacamole/etc was bordering on skimpy. Why I would make my first order fajitas at a place called Joe's American Grill eludes me, so that's on me. Very filling and good, but not $27 good. My partner ordered the Big Caesar with blackened chicken and the minute it landed on the table, I was beyond jealous and it was terrific. Next time, and I will go back, that salad or a more Joe's American type order like a burger or sirloin tips will be the thing. Our server and the supporting staff were great. Shout-out for drinks. I don't drink booze (well...not anymore), and my go-to is seltzer with a splash of cranberry and a lime. Sounds like a simple drink, but at most places the results are so strange it's like I'm asking them to make beef wellington with american cheese and old pizza crust. This was the best Seltzer/Cranberry/Lime I've ever had out. That tells me the bartender knows what they are doing and pays attention, so for your booze fans out there I bet you'll find some fine drinks too. read more

Off season on the east end places like Joe's open year round are fully appreciated. It's on Montauk Hwy, not on the water, but it had a cool relaxed vibe that for some reason reminded me of Wall's Wharf up in Bayville. Maybe just like low key restaurants in seaside towns. Locals were at tables and around the bar. Stopping in here for a light bite at the bar good choices were tuna sashimi, calypso shrimp and BBQ ribs. Bartender was low key people were friendly. This restaurant is nice and cozy although a little loud inside. The food is very delicious and the cocktails were good as well. We ordered dinner salads which I expected to be just a salad but they were actually put together nicely and tasted really good! I happened to visit Joes and the its your typical American food, i ordered the bacon cheese burger with fries it came out in a reasonable time and it was huge. made just the way i ordered it. i just didn't like the roll. i would have preferred a hamburger bun. fries were nice and fresh as well. this place have a nice small fully stocked bar to the rear. I returned to joe's tonight after having a lovely and memorable meal there last year while visiting family. I really looked forward to returning and sadly it was an absolute nightmare. 30 minutes after ordering I pointed out to my companion that no one in the dining room had moved past the bread course. Then the lights went out. Then the smoke/fire alarms went off. Three separate times. Throughout this, and as the staff opened windows because the rooms were beginning to feel and smell smoky , no one communicated to patrons, no one explained the situation. I managed to wave a server down and ask for an explanation and was told "we really don't know- the lights went off and now the alarm. But it's fine" As the room continued to fill w smoke out food came. It was cold. It did not include the sides we ordered. And the entire night was a disaster We asked for it to be wrapped. For our inconvenience one drink was deducted from our bill. One drink. We left with cold tuna, and chewy scallops and no sides and paid 60 dollars for poor food and worse customer service. And left the parking lot just as three fire trucks pulled up. Terrible terrible attention to the safety and the welfare of your staff and customers. read more

We stumbled upon this place a few years ago and were happy with the food and the service.....but it has been downhill ever since and will never go back. The service is HORRENDOUS. The food has become lackluster that even my 7 year old stepson rolled his eyes at the waitress and how long it takes to get a regular burger, rack of ribs and a salad delivered to the table. This place was promising.....NOT ANYMORE. And the place is packed......I am so surprised that it is. There are a ton of other places to eat that are FAR, FAR better. After a long day of shopping and other activities, we just wanted to sit down for dinner, and Joe's was perfect for what we were looking for. We were seated in a booth and were brought a bread basket and waters right away, which is always appreciated. We ordered the Chopped Salad, Sashimi Tuna Salad, and the Steak Fajitas for the two of us. All were tasty. The steak fajitas were probably the best of the 3 items we ordered. This is standard American fare executed well. Our waitress was very pleasant and the service was good. I agree with other reviewers who mentioned a low key and friendly vibe. Went last night (Saturday 12/14/13). Have been a few times for burgers and beer and those times its been Ok. Last night, tried the full menu - filet/shrimp special and the Thai Chick Salad. The steak was overdone and very dry, shrimp edible (for $37, you gotta be kidding?). The Thai Chicken salad is probably the worst menu item I have had in the past 10 years. Chicken was horrible, I picked through the lettuce and dressing but left most of it. Again, $18 for some seasoned lettuce. I rarely complain about prices but this place is not a place to have anything more than a burger. Service was awful. read more

This is one of the worst restaurants I have ever been too. To say the service was terrible is an understatement. When we inquired why our dinner was taking so long (after waiting 45 min for our entree) we were told curtly 'the kitchen is backed up', but the place was half empty. After waiting another 20 min we asked again, the waitress argued with us that it just be a few more min. 10 min passed and again we asked about our dinner, again we were told just a few more min, we asked for the check and she argued with us that the food would be out shortly and walked away. We never got the check, but after waiting another 10 min our food finally arrived. My hamburger was under cooked and the french fries were raw. My wife's fajita was just OK. I would give this place zero stars if I could. Save your money and a lot of aggravation and go somewhere else. read more

A few years ago, Joe's replaced Milo's, which was a much better restaurant. Joe's is too expensive for a quick bite, and yet the food and service is not good enough for a wholesome night out. It's okay for the family, but again, the preceding restaurant Milo's was much more accommodating. While Joe's is one of the few restaurants to visit in Westhampton Beach, it is worth it to look a little further for a good meal and a good evening. read more
