I had taken my Jeep grand Cherokee to three other places with an overheating issue that wouldn't allow me to drive it more than a few miles . I had been told me anything from it had to have the engine replaced to replace the head gasket for anywhere from $3000-$10,000. Finally was told to go see these folks and they quickly were able to diagnose that it just needed an oil cooler. This place is a total rip off. "Joe's" auto service. I speak from experience. Take your vehicle to a reputable service center like Penske's, not some local place like "Joe's", or how about "Bob's". I'm surprised they haven't been reported to the BBB. They should be. They unsuccessfully replaced a timing belt on my vehicle (twice) which failed. I don't know where they got the part (maybe off another vehicle?) but it's cost was $2400! Don't be naive. Find a REPUTABLE service center. Not "Joe's"! I'd give zero if I could. TLDR: Offered to store my seasonal tires and apparently sold them to someone as new, pocketed the money, and won't return my calls to try & resolve this. On December 7, 2020, I purchased a new set of winter tires for my car at Big O in Carmel. Easy and pleasant experience as usual. I have been coming here for years. This time they offered, and I gratefully accepted, their offer to store my summer tires for me. Brilliant service to get me to return, I thought. And return, I did. On May 3, 2021, to switch the tires, then again on October 19, 2021. On March 1 of this year, I made another appointment to swap tires again. Here is where the trouble begins. I get to the store & a nice guy Dion apologizes, but he can't locate my tires. In the system notes, he sees that mine are in an upstairs storage area, marked with my name. And he can see where I had previously swapped them twice before. He agrees that they should be there, but they have just disappeared. Some vague allusion to the prior store manager being shady. Maybe he sold them on me? Who knows. He cannot help but assures me the new manager, Jake, will call and assist. Later that afternoon, I received a call from Jake that they may have found 2 of my tires, but the other two remained missing. To resolve this, he needed to escalate this to the owner, Joe, who returns from vacation that weekend. I called back when I had yet to hear by the following Wednesday. Jake informs me that he has no news, and it "isn't his protocol" to call when he has no update. It's clear from his tone that he is irritated with me. I implore him to put himself in my position and to make an effort to reach out to me. Almost $2000 of my tires have walked off after all. I finally got a text from Jake on Friday, March 10, that he spoke with Joe and "he will have an answer by this afternoon for you, at which time I will update you." Well, it is almost a month later. Despite my repeated messages, I am still waiting to hear something about the fate of my tires or how he suggests we resolve the situation. I went in last week to Big O Tires to get my headlamps looked at as they had water damage and one was completely not working. I got there right at 8 AM for my scheduled appointment and they were there waiting for me! SCHEDULING: I would recommend scheduling online, my experience was quick and easy! They quoted me for the work and I told them I would think about it. I decided to go with them and they ordered the parts which arrived in 1-day and then I dropped my car off the next day and it was completed within about 5 hours! They have great customer service and I would recommend them to anyone! They communicate thoroughly and told me the range it would cost with labor. EEEEEK new tires are expensive! Okay, now that we've gotten over that unavoidable hump, I'll say that I had a great experience taking my care in here. The guy working the counter was personable and explained risks/benefits of fixing my tires now vs. later. He didn't seem to have any agenda and was simply sharing helpful information. No one likes having to pay for car maintenance and this price tag was hefty, so my only tip would be to ask for the total estimated price in advance before you say yes to any service. Again, it was work that needed to be done, but I did have sticker shock when I went to pick up my car. Another thing I like about this spot is that the best nail salon ever (Zen Nails) is next door and an amazing Italian bakery (Stacco House) is across the street, so if you need somewhere to go while your car is in the shop, both of these are great options. DO NOT USE THIS LOCATION Not good isn't even close to the experience i have had with you guys as of today 7/20/2023. i had 3 year warranty on all of my tires as of 1/7/2023. I popped two of my tires yesterday 7/19/2023 and had my car towed to your shop. They told me my car would be towed at 7:15pm. It wasn't picked up until 12:30! 5hours and 15 minutes on the side of the highway unlocked by the way. Then find out this morning you guys can't even give me warranty on my tires because you guys haven't paid your fees to be able to be listed as a Big O Tires. Hands Down the worst location in Indiana. Joes has had my car since it was called bigotires. (March/2023) They were supposed to fix my ac actuator but gave me the car back after the first 6 months without touching it (they did fix a cat converter, coolant issue, and said they replaced my battery) and said it was fixed. I brought it back so they kept it and let it sit in the lot for 5 months and then called and told me it was almost finished for the last month then finally it was done! I went to pick it up and they gave me the keys like they proudly fixed it but... -(car was dead) - so I jumped it to leave joes -I noticed the ac still hadn't been fixed -within 5 min of driving my car shuts off while I'm driving it (the alternator was perfect before it was at joes auto shop- and he won't take responsibility) - I come in later and explain the issue and Joe says they never even ordered the ac actuator or put anything in because it's hard to find... I asked him 5 times in person "what was being done when the employee told me my car was almost done" and he couldnt give me an answer. Anyway I ordered an ac actuator online and it's being shipped to me in a couple days. I'm going to have to buy an alternator too and put it in myself. Not what I wanted to be doing after having my car at the shop for a year and spending $6000. I own a small business and would expect to be closed if I ever treated people like this and cared this little about my product. read more

This is our new go-to place for oil changes, tire rotations, & all things tire. The location is great .... just west of mid-town Carmel, on Main St. near 31 & near St. V Carmel. If your car was being worked on you could walk across the street & have a meal at one of the restaurants (or walk east to downtown Carmel, less than a mile). Parking is easy behind the building. Building is nice & new brick building with many bays to work on cars. Staff is pleasant, efficient & helpful both on phone & in person. Prices are comparable to others. It took about a week before I could get an appointment, so plan ahead. You can drop off your car after-hours & drop your key in the drop box for convenience. We have been to Big O twice now, ever since our regular place got new management & things weren't as well run. We are happy with Big O and plan to make them our new place for all of our family's cars. We have had two good experiences at Big O and hope and plan for many more! read more

I called at 3pm and got an appt for 4pm, same day. They told me it would be a little bit longer of a wait, which was fine. What I'm not happy about is that someone who walked in behind me, without an appt got in and out before me! (They were having the same service done). They are very friendly, but that is frustrating as someone who called ahead. Overall, they were great. They estimated the time very close to what they stated over the phone, just a little longer. The tire protection plan is a must for Indiana. I got tires three years ago and have used it at least five times to get patches or new tires after picking up a screw or running over a winter pothole. The crew is always quick and it is never been a hassle because they kept my warranty on file. The most recent visit was last week and Ryan and Garrett were awesome! Unfortunately, the business practices at this Carmel Big O' Tires location have gone significantly downhill over the past few months. It's truly sad because the other Big O' Tires locations I've gone to in other areas of the state of Indiana have been generally very good. Hidden fees. Not full transparency with pricing upfront. They don't even put oil change stickers in your car anymore but charge ballpark prices (2x the competition). The Carmel owner is incredibly rude and responds to complaints of regular customers with highly unprofessional comments like "Best of luck" and "lol" via email. There are so many other tire, oil change, and auto repair services providers to go to in the North Indy area, please do yourself a favor and choose elsewhere. I know I will be! Completely dissatisfied with service I called a week prior and was told I was able to get All terrains for 1200, then when I call Monday to set it up (took off work) I'm told that quote expires, fine ok I get it. Then Quoted two choices, all terrains for 1500 or mud tires 1100. I had just torn up my mud tires and wanted something harder for the highway but still able to not get stuck off roading. So I said the all terrains and sucker up the 300 dollar difference for a "better all terrain tire" AND free alignment on my F350 Drop it off in the morning on Monday and am told it'll be ready for pick up at 3:30pm At 3:40pm I get a call saying that they couldn't get the tire off the rim without popping rivits but offer to buy them and take it back Wednesday to put the ALL TERRAIN tires on. Fast forward to Wednesday I take a half day , they were nice enough to workout a drop off to work I didn't use it dropped the truck off at 9:30 and was told they'd be ready in the afternoon. I call at 12:30 to make sure the same thing isn't happening where they just didn't look at it till the time and am told 2 hours, call at 2:30 and am told 3:15, 3:15 passes and finally I get a call at 3:45 that it's ready. I pick it up and pay the 1500 and ask about the tires and the alignment to be told that they couldn't do the alignment there because it was too long ? Which I don't understand how they didn't see that Monday or when I dropped it off had to call their "sister location" but I had to hurry to a meeting so I didn't think much of it. Call the sister location they said they don't offer free alignments and they'd call and call me back. They NEVER Called me back. Go straight home from the meeting just to look at my tires and see that their MUD tires and NOT all terrains that I paid for. Even on big Os web site they are labeled as all terrain. read more

Not only did they handle contacting the Plainfield store for me to get my tire warranty info, but they handled it all so I wasn't constantly on the phone trying to get my tire fixed. They were kind when I called in for updates & walked me through all the things that needed done after my tire blew one night. We had some work done on my wife's car. They replaced the battery and then the dealership told us it was undersized and inadequate for the car. Over the winter, the tires had lost air. When we picked the car up, none of the tires had been filled with air. You would think a tire place would do that as a matter of course. I purchased tires from this Location on 08/01/23. Fast forward to September 26th, 2023. I am driving just fine and then my tire blows out almost causing an accident! I call them and explain the situation and inquire about warranty information. Al working the front desk said he would take a look into. SEVERAL hours went past no call back. i ended up having to go up there and he gives me some excuse as to why he hasn't gotten back with me. It was closing time so he took my keys and said he would contact me in the morning. Al cmalls me the next day and lets me know it pulled be a manufacture warranty and I could either pay ahead and let them reimburse me or wait for them to send payment. I went ahead and paid (he also claims I had to pay ahead due to it being a special order and when I explained I had cash he said he'll go ahead and get it taken care of. not sure what that was about if he would order it without the payment.) It has been almost two months and no one has gotten back with me about any reimbursement and apparently Al is no longer with the company. Jared was polite, honest and worked around my needs and schedule without any question. I called him with a product already in mind. Instead of telling me that they could get it, he first warned me that they were back ordered and didn't have a set date on when they would come in. No worries! Jared offered his expertise in the industry and recommended a different tire. Explained the benefits, the warranty and how the new recommended tire performed better in every aspect. My oil change took 3 hours!! Cost 180$ - Tow fees- missed work- 4 day car rental!!! Arrived for scheduled oil change. They didn't have a filter for my car but didn't mention until it was in the air and drained. Traveling out of town for work and my car is leaking oil. Took my car inspection; wrong size screws in oil pan; oil pan not properly attached . Thank goodness there wasn't any engine damage. I contacted the corporate office asking for reimbursement for my loss wages due to their errors. I was told it could take 48/72 hours before I would hear back. He directed me to the Carmel district manager who tells me it's being investigated!!?? It's now been 30 days. I'm patiently waiting... He has pictures, documents and receipts. He won't return calls or emails. I will NEVER use Big O tires again!! But if anyone is interested I have a free oil change punch card -Courtesy of my 3 hour wait!!! read more

Being a complete novice when it comes to my vehicle and what to do when something goes wrong, I feel completely comfortable bringing it to Joe's. I have been coming here almost exclusively for the past 16 years and have always been satisfied with the work that has been done to my vehicles. I trust the work and all of the employees. I know that they will not steer me wrong and will do the work at a fair price. I recently had to have something done to my vehicle and was told that only the dealer could do it. While there, they gave me a list of 7-8 other issues that must be fixed totaling over $2,000. I took the list to Joe's and they agreed that is would be best to have some of the items done. They, however, were able to do all of the items for under $1000. I'm so grateful for the honest and knowledgeable workers at Joes. read more

Preface: I am a 23 year old female who knows very little about cars. The only reason I went to Joe's Auto Service in the first place was because it was the closest place to where I lived, and I needed an oil change. My first oil change, I was told I need a new air filter. That was probably true. I was told it would be an extra 20 minute wait. This was the middle of the day, so I was taking off time at work to be here. Over an hour later my car was done, putting me in Joe's Auto Service watching a soap opera for an hour and a half. The second time I went, I figured it would just be another quick oil change and all would be well. Luckily, it was shorter, but I was told that I had a severe oil leak in my lower intake and it would cost me around $900 to fix. He said it was a serious leak and I really should get it taken care of, so I was a bit worried. Now, I'm young, just out of college, and don't just have $900 to spare. So, I did what anyone would do: got a second opinion. I visited my trusted mechanic when I was back home during a weekend, and he told me that there was no leak. In fact, everything looked pristine. He told me to check my oil levels the next few months to make sure, and lo and behold my oil level has not gone down in the past 5 months and I have had no issues with my car at all. Last week I had to stop and put in air in one back tire I thought I probably had a nail in it. I stopped in another tire place and the guy told me two hour wait and was very rude about it. Awful experience. Found out they had been putting the wrong oil in my car for the last year. Paid for a tire rotation. Never rotated. They were low on pressure and they didn't even fill them up. Confronted about this manager Ryan was not helpful. I called corporate customer service and it must be something in the water because they were the worst customer service I've ever dealt with. Beware of ripoff, doesn't know cars well, does know your wallet and register. My girlfriend took a Chrysler PT cruiser in to have oil changed, tires rotated, estimate on timing belt changed. Charged for oil change and tires rotated, was also told that car has a timing chain, not a belt and will never need a change. False information, the car has a timing belt and was overdue for change. When I looked at tires they were never rotated but they wrote on the receipt that the brakes were bad and need changed. So she called as to why she was charged for tires rotated but tires were never rotated was told to bring back in. Brought back in and was told the reason why tires weren't rotated is because they were too wore out to rotate. LOL, ok....so why was there a charge for rotation and how did you know the brakes were bad if you never took the tires off to start with? and also.,.....if your a mechanic why don't you know that there is a timing belt on this car? Which brings all the work done by this place into question. They finally refunded money for tire rotation that was not done but insisted there is a timing chain not belt on PT cruisers. (totally wrong) They also have there own review sight that shows about 300 people giving it 5 stars and not one 1 star. When we wrote a review on this sight it was not posted. So what we have here is a dishonest shop that will not hesitate to lie and take your $. check the other reviews and don't go there even for oil change read more

If I could put -5 Stars I would. This place is terrible. Let me start with saying we waited extra 2 hours after they said the car would be ready, the technicians kept removing the mag and putting it somewhere else my husband went to check on them because I had a feeling they would mess something up and I was right! We changed our BMW X6 tires and they put the tire that should go in the back in the front ( keep in mind my back tires are wider then the front ones) we never double checked maybe that was our mistake but when it's done by professionals usually you trust them . When we called them and said what they did they called us liars and that it was impossible or that someone is playing a prank on us , I mean seriously can you come up with a better excuse. They refused to refund us or even to pay for the bill that we had to spend to switch those 2 tires. So I would suggest you to never go there if you care about your safety, we drove in the car for months before noticing it and we had our child in it . Went in for their "fall maintenance package". They flushed the radiator, oil change, brake check, etc. They then say there are problems with the struts. Two days later I go in to get the struts replaced. They give me a "complementary" checkup and tell me the radiator fluid pH is off. They thrn went ahead and flushed it without me knowing. I was completely taken advantage of by Joe's Auto Service, which looks to be the pattern here on Yelp. I took my car in to have my turn signal looked at, and the next day I received a call from the manager saying both my front and back breaks were at 2% and needed to be replaced. He quoted me over $600 for the breaks and said it was unsafe to drive my car without getting them replaced. I realize I'm naive for not getting a second opinion; however, up until recently I took my car into Joe's regularly and never had a bad experience. I agreed to have the back breaks done and to wait on the front. Then, the manager proceeded to tell me fixing my turn signal would be very complicated and labor intensive - it would require purchasing a new headlamp assembly which would cost $516. I declined and got a second opinion. When I took my car to Car-x on 116th and Keystone, which I would HIGHLY recommend, the mechanic told me my front breaks were like new, not at 2%, rusted, or corroded like I was told by Joe's; therefore, it is quite obvious that my back breaks did not need replaced since my car is less than 10 years old and they get less wear than the front. ALSO, my turn signal was an easy fix and did not end up costing me anything. It makes me sick that these people make a living by lying to and deceiving customers every day. read more

Made an appointment for a tire change and was told that they would order the tires and guaranteed that they would be at the store by my appointment time several days later. I arrived for my appointment and had to wait 30 minutes for someone to open the store (the sign said they opened at 7:30am). Left them my keys and was told they would call me when my car was done. 7 hours later, no call!! I called them and was told the tires had never arrived and that I would have to wait an additional 1-2 days!!! I had taken off work to get this done. I asked why I did not receive a courtesy call telling me this earlier, and was not given a direct answer. I asked if my tires, services, etc. would be discounted for this inconvenience, and after consulting with the manager was told, no! I could have 2 free oil changes because the manager felt I was already getting a good deal on the tires!!! WHAT!!!! They clearly did not want my business. If you need tires and GREAT customer service please go elsewhere. I will never recommend this business!!! read more
