After using Larry's auto for years, I needed a new mechanic. My Grandfather told me about Joe's when I needed my car inspected! They were honest and reasonable! I needed new back brakes and rotors for it to pass and they called with a quote before doing any work. When I went to pick up my car, the worker showed me how thin my brakes were and that the rotors were corroded. I'll definitely be using Joe's Auto in the future for all my auto needs. I recently purchased a used vehicle from Joe's Auto Sales and I have to say it was a very good experience. When I first went to look at the used Tacoma, which is a good hour from my home in MA, Joe was very accommodating and up front with everything about the truck. After a quick test drive and discussion with Joe, I bought it. Joe had all the paperwork ready, which was no small trick since the truck was titled in NY, I purchased in RI and is to be registered/titled in MA. He also went the extra mile (no pun intended) to fully service the vehicle before the delivery - all fluids, serpentine belt, brakes, filters - you name it. Joe, You seem nice, but your customer service is lacking. I brought my Tacoma to you for help get it to pass inspection and re-registered so that I could return to work. You did my brakes and rotors, and a caliper. You pointed out that I needed expensive frame work done to pass inspection and I took your advice, and got it done. I spent a lot of money and a lot of time trying to get it in shape to pass inspection. I even swapped out the steering column because the knuckle was corroded badly. As you know, detaching the steering comes with risk of damaging the clock spring. After my work work was done, and I felt confident that everything was in order. I scheduled an inspection with you (not knowing you send it off to some jerk down the road at Tony Lewis Auto). You would have been appalled by how smug he came across when he spoke to me, and he even blamed you for not letting me know. It was your mechanic who told me he noticed the airbag light "as soon as he jumped in" to bring it for inspection there. A simple courtesy call would have saved me extra $55.00, allowing me the chance to fix it before being sent off for inspection. I feel scammed and let down, and I blame your poor customer service for the extra $55.00 charge. After all I have been through, I didn't need to get kicked one more time like that. Bought two used cars from Joe over the past 15 years and they ran great. Just brought cars in for maintenance and usual wear and tear stuff as expected over the years. The cars he sells are worthy. He is honest and great at what he does.(repairs too) Even though it's a small garage and basic office, don't let that discourage you. It is very hard to find someone honest in the used auto business it seems. Been very happy with him. By the way, the cars he sold me kept running. I only bought one car for lower mileage and my next car because I sadly totalled a perfectly good car, otherwise it would have lasted much longer. You can trust Joe. read more

Joe is an honest mechanic. He has never over charged or charged me for service I did not need. A couple of time he fixed things and did not charge me at all. Joes have been services our cars for over 10 years with no complaints from and that say a lot because I am very particular. read more

Joe is awesome (owner). He is honest as to what has happened to the car and the repair it requires. I have never heard him telling me anything additional than what it actually needs (not that I would know outright). Always on top of things to get your car fixed. He is very busy though and I would suggest you to take appointment before you drop your car off. Otherwise, it's a long wait. read more

I have been going to Joe's Auto Service for years with no problems but the past 2 trips have gone terrible wrong. He has a drunk working for him now and he messed up my new brakes. He stated they were made in China and that was the issue. Joe fixed them afterwards but gave me a major attitude over it and was very rude. The other time he kept my vehicle for 13 days. Joe stated he could not get my part anyway and had to get it specially made. He stated they messed up the part 2 times and that is why it took so long. Never called me until I asked after a week of not having my vehicle what was going on. He calls me after 13 days that the vehicle is ready so, I went down there to pick it up. I asked him some questions seeing he is a mechanic and he gave me a major attitude. I also asked for my old parts back. He would always give them back the old parts in the past but this time he would not. He stated they were in the shop somewhere and that I did not need them. WOW. I was going to call the cops but decided I did not want to want around for them to show up. So, I do not know if he truly fixed my vehicle or not. I paid him and in a rudely manner told me to get my vehicle out of here. Are you KIDDING ME? That is no way to run a business. I will never go back there. It is sad that I had my vehicle serviced there for over 7 years and this is the way you are going to treat me now. Joe is a great guy. He is more than fair and takes the time to go over all the details, show you the broken parts that were removed and review the bill line-by-line. He was referred to us by a friend after we went through a nightmare summer with our previous long-term, rake-us-over-the-coals mechanic in Lincoln. Not sure what Erin E's problem is, but do yourself a favor and give it a chance. I don't write reviews unless I really feel strongly one way or another.
