I feel like Joe's cafe is kind of a hit or miss. I usually go in to get donuts bc it's convenient, but I absolutely dread going inside to order because you just never know which type of service that you're going to get. Last time I ordered, the lady told me to take my mask off because she couldn't understand what I was saying. (I honestly think she was a little hard of hearing since she was the one that was yell talking. Lol) Okay whatever. So I repeated a glazed and powdered creme doughnut and she confirmed it. It was just such a weird and awkward experience. I got home ready to dig in and that lady gave me two glazed. So moral of the of the story, if you go there--make sure you check your order before you leave. read more

Aweful awful service. 1 was 2nd car in line. Took 5 mins to ask me for the order. Then the employee had a real hard time understanding I wanted a dozen donuts. Half glazed half cake. She responded so you want 6? I slowly repeated myself 3 times. Then waited 15 minutes for the pancakes. They did not check on me or inform me it would be a while longer. I had to go into the store and then back out and pull in front again. If you all want to be in business for a while your going to have to figure this out. This is my 3 trip a final time. We normally go to Joe's for breakfast on Sunday mornings which is wonderful so we thought we'd try lunch on a Saturday and they sure missed the mark. My husband ordered pot roast, mashed potatoes w/gravy. He received cold pot roast and rice which he promptly sent back and they obviously put it in the microwave because is was so hot, he couldn't eat it. I ordered the patty melt and validated that it came with grilled onions....the server said it did but when my meal was delivered not an onion in sight. More donut places in Terrytown is always a good thing. When I lived in Marrero, Joe's was my place. So when they opened up in T-Town, I was happy to have another place to ease up the traffic at the other nearby donut shops. And another place to get the mini burgers Castle burger style. This location of Joes is like the other newer versions. Modern, flat panel tv menus, renovated and a huge menu selection. Prices are right and the donuts are yum yum. Turning in and parking is a bit tight but I think this location is more drive thru suited. The like you to call in ahead of time if you want food food, then the drive up part is very fast. read more

Had to drive to the drive-thru window after waiting 12 minutes in the Drive-Thru to place an order due to the cashier only catering too inside patrons. Entire dozen of donuts taste as if they were cooked and refrigerated and allowed to thaw in room temperature. read more

I've worked around the corner from Joes since they opened in 2019, and I've finally got around to trying it. Sooooo good! I had the fried shrimp on bun and the shrimp were golden fried to perfection. I have been going to this place for years, but today was absolutely awful. I phoned an order for the surf and turf burger. I picked up the order and traveled quite a distance to arrive home and discovered that they burger was hard and I ordered medium well, no lettuce and tomatoe, fries were hard as a rock and the ground meat was very dry. I ordered two muffins which were hard and dry. When I phoned to report the issue, I was told that the next time I place a order, I can get a 1/2 dozen donuts. I advised her that I am a diabetic and she advised that since the manager/owner was not in, there was nothing else she could do. My grandson loves this place, but we are not going back. read more

First visit to a Joe's. Counter staff was lovely, but I walked in to place a to-go order at breakfast time and after 10 minutes of waiting was given the wrong item. I ordered the chicken breakfast sandwich with egg, was asked if I wanted cheese and agreed. Waited. Was given my container, left, opened once I got into the car. Just the chicken, no egg or cheese. Counter staff told me the register wasn't putting in to-go orders, hence my wait, and the kitchen must have just messed up--messed up putting a piece of warmed fried chicken patty on a biscuit and adding an egg and cheese to it. I brought the little cousins here for some food and I was kinda worried because the youngest one is a picky eater. We got chocolate glazed donuts, fried pickles, and half a dozen mini burgers with cheese. The staff was very polite! To my amazement, the rascals loved their mini burgers :) and even asked me to order more to take home! The donuts were fresh, and the fried pickles were crunchy and addicting. Finally found a place to satisfy my fried pickles craving because the Lord knows Chilis wasn't doing it. 12/10 will be back! read more

Every time I come to visit family in New Orleans we wind up going to breakfast at a lot of little places like this that tend to be geared to take-out or serving small groups (1-2 people). Places that are mostly counter space or small tables. We roll in with at least 5 and service is often spotty at best. That was the case here, but the waitresses/staff were friendly and from what I understand this place (at least this location) is pretty new. It took a little while to get coffee & place orders, but once everything was straightened out the food was very good! I got a delicious three egg omelette with sausage & I can't remember what veggie. I also got pepper jack cheese. I like when places put the cheese over the omelette & that's what they do a Joe's. It came w/a biscuit that was good as well. Everyone else I was with seemed to enjoy what they ordered as well. My nephew has one of those HUGE Texas donuts which is a fun & unique thing this place has (the pastry case looked AMAZING). Coffee was good as well, and like I said, after some initial hiccups service was good. Prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get. read more

Burger was delicious. The only reason I gave Joe's Cafe four stars is because multiple times I have ordered food to go and there's always something wrong. Also got an order of donut holes which is supposed to come with 20 and was shorted on those too. I recommend if you order to go save yourself the hassle and money and check everything before you leave. read more

Called ahead to order, was told 25 mins. Arrived at the restaurant, the order had not been put in. The began by accusing me of not placing one, but then it turned into someone took it over the phone but asked someone else to put it in and that didn't happen. So we waited another 25 mins in the restaurant. Onion rings came out 10mins before the burgers so were obviously cold by the time we got them home. Burgers were undressed. Was given sweet tea instead of unsweet. Was not offered an apology at all. I normally love the food here, but the service in inexcusable. read more

Came here for breakfast and ordered the biscuits and gravy. The gravy had a heavy pour of pepper and tasted starchy. There was only one biscuit for $4. Plus tax that nearly came out to be $5 for one biscuit. I did pick up some donuts to go and they tasted like any other donuts. Not worth the trip! This location is not welcoming, shows some subtle signs of prejudice and lack of quality staff. I've been going to Joe's a long time so imagine my surprise when Joe's came to my neighborhood in Terrytown. Unfortunately, I have not had a good experience at this location. I've gone to this location on 3 different occasions and it's been one disappointment after another. My final disappointment occurred 8/3. The continuous lack of customer service, in fighting between employees and the lack of organization & accountability assures I will NOT Return. I placed a phone order however when I arrive I still was required to sit for 20 minutes before I could get my food. Only after I inquired about the delay of my order did they realize a portion of my order had not been prepared. So I had to wait 10 more minutes. This evidence of poor training and management detracts from customer's experience. I think Joe's expansion occured at the expense of the quality customer service and quality of food. It's a shame. If I can rate this with no stars I would. I don't know where to begin. Whoever that white guy with the monotoned ass voice was working on 05/14/2019 between 2:30-3:30 pm was the fucking worst. I've never had such a bad experience at a Joe's Cafe until now. This place is never going to see me as a customer again. He COMPLETELY messed up my order and when he took my order, didn't even ask me what my drink was because it comes with one. He gave me my order and forgot my cinnamon roll. AND forgot my drink too until I told his ass something. If he doesn't want to work there then don't fucking work there. I see his attitude and it shows. Every time I go to Joe's, I always get the same experience: excellent customer service, great food, and family friendly atmosphere. The breakfast is totally delicious. My favorite things on the menu are the shrimp and corn soup, crawfish egg rolls, and the French Toast. Also, the donuts are fresh and delicious. read more

So I have always liked Joe's up until a few days ago. What changed? The food is pretty good. The breakfast is good. The service at this particular store is subpar. I went in for breakfast and noticed that the guy sitting to the right of me got the red carpet treatment. There were also some Air Force guys getting breakfast to go. They also got the red carpet treatment. I got the long handled spoon treatment from the staff. One in particular with the long face acted like I was bothering her even though there were only a few people in the restaurant. If only she knew who I was maybe that would've changed things. Oh well. I have been here several times, but after that experience I won't go out of my way to make it to the Crusty Crab to be greeted by Squidward. I cannot recommend this place due to the staff looking over me as a customer. You get one time to burn that bridge. read more

I want to like this joes and I really want the idea of place like this to stay afloat in Terrytown. I just also want the food to not taste drenched in butter, grease and/or sugar. The donuts being an exception :) breakfast plates seem lower quality for the price compared to common grounds and again taste like butter. Everywheres. Went for dinner and the fried shrimp/fries also tastes like salty butter? Maybe I just need to venture to a salad or soup/sandwich and see where it leads my tastebuds. went there Sunday morning, it was busy, sat down, waitress too busy to take our order, waited a while then someone took our order they saw us sitting there, they said it's not their job but they took our order anyways. they ran out of croissants, then we ordered chicken and waffles, they ran out of waffles. looks like lots of people work there, but it's still extremely slow to get the food. I end up getting eggs and toast, average, it's hard to mess up eggs and toast. but I'm going to ihop or waffle House next time. price is same and less chance of them running out of things people order. read more

Since i posted my first review a week ago I have to update. Service is quick and friendly. Donuts- they have the best glazed donuts I've ever had and I've lived across the US. Biscuits- also the best I've ever had, light, fluffy, and delicious. Bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit- tasty and delicious. Country fried steak - good but a tiny single piece of steak and the white gravy is too salty, and I like salt. Typically, there's some sausage in there too, but I didn't see any. You can make the gravy with chicken stock or bouillon to add more flavor. Rapidly becoming my favorite. Thanks! read more

I have been to Joe's many many times and have never been disappointed. My order was messed up one time where I got a biscuit instead of a croissant, but I'm not one to complain it's was still just as good, soft, and fresh. I'm unsure of why so many people have given bad reviews and I'm very surprised. One bad experience or order mishap does not define the whole place. Joe's will always be one of my favorite places. The service is always fast no matter how busy they are and the food is always hot and fresh! I have introduced so many people to Joe's and they have all loved it! The lunch, breakfast, and donuts are all yummy and freshly made daily. Joe's always deserves a shot and if you had a bad experience give it another shot! So disappointed in Joe's today. Joes surprised me the first time I went because it's a drive through cafe/donut shop with really good hot food for breakfast. Today I received such horrible service I'll never allow myself to spend money with Joe's again. I went through the drive through and when trying to place my order I was told to drive up to the window without even ordering. I pull up to the window and sit for 10 mins without being acknowledged. I then notice the lady standing at the window taking orders on the headset apparently of the customers behind me. So I asked the lady did she realize she still had not taken my order while she was taking others behind me in line? She said she would get to me eventually she was getting them out the way first. What does that even mean. So I sat another 5 minutes no one speaking to me. I felt like they were so busy they were purposely ignoring me in the hopes that I would drive off. So I did. They literally did not want to serve me for what reason I don't know. Was my order too difficult? So I called the store to speak to the manager but I'm pretty sure the woman I spoke to wasn't the manager. I think She was lying because she didn't give her name.
