The place is small, and AC was not workin or maybe they dont have any but it was warm and there are fans to help cool. This place has a bakery side and a dine in side. The staff individually are good folks, but during a rush one can see some discourse. I went with my family of 7 and we ordered a family meal for the kiddos and my husband I got some dishes (minr was stewed chicken and he got the friend chicken? ) i asked for cabbage for my side.. and ended with plaintains.... dont get me wrong, the plantains were really good..... overall the food was very flavorful and we enjoyed it (husband said it definitely satisfy his belly for home foods of puerto rico). Hubby and I recently stopped into this bakery for some fresh baked bread & dessert. I inquired about the empanadas, I was quickly told they were out of the shrimp empanadas & couldn't tell me when they would make them again. I even inquired further as to when I could get them bc I really did want the shrimp empanadas. I was told they didn't know bla bla bla no one was there, no one was working, couldn't get anyone to work in the kitchen bla bla bla. I should have seen this as a red flag but I said I would keep checking and then ask for a loaf of their fresh baked cuban bread & one chocolate tre leche cake to go. Few mins later, upon arrival back home, I took the "fresh" baked bread out of the paper sleeve and it was in a plastic bag! One end was wet and the other was hard as a rock! Completely rotten Nasty bread! My hubby took one bite of the chocolate tre leche cake & chocked on it, it was so dry and old. It went straight in the trash. These people looked me straight in the eye and sold me rotten food. All the while they were telling me they had no one there to bake/cook fresh items. I should have just walked out. The food they serve range from pork to chicken cuban/ puerto rican style that I've never tasted before. Let me start with their fresh delicious drinks. I got mango and my husb got papaya flavor. Its very tasty and fresh for only $4! For fresh juice, its an awesome deal. The entree- I got the dried pork with 2sides plantain and yellow. Everything in the plate was delicious and very tasty. This food is close to filipino food, for $11 I don't need to go to Fil resto. This is good enough! The spicy jerky chicken is so-so. I did tasted the hint of spiciness but not spicy enough for my taste. The chicken and sauce did not compliment the dish. Its lacking something. Holy Smokes... FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC food, Y'all! I've been wanted to try this Caribbean food truck for quite some time, and now I'm kicking myself for not going sooner. I really wanted to order the whole menu because everything sounded so delicious. I ended up ordering the Chicharron de Cerdo (fried pork belly) and two empanadas, one chicken and one cheese. The chicharron was tender, fatty, and so flavorful. The rice was seasoned well and the fried plantains were perfect. The empanadas were really good as well. We came here before heading back home to St. Louis, MO and probably one of the best food places we stopped at while down here! And...we had a lot of good food. There's a to go/pastry side and to the left is the restaurant. All the staff were excellent and we were checked on often. Everything was served so fresh and hot and quickly. The food was outstanding! We both ordered an empanada for an appetizer. Hubs got the chicken and I got the Pastelon (beef and plantain) Both were super flavorful but that Pastelon one stole our hearts! My husband said he would have just ordered empanadas if he would have known how dynamite the flavors were! For lunch he ordered the Cuban with fries and I got the pernil lunch special. They were out of the pernil but offered other options. I went with the pork chunks. I am so glad! These must have been marinated overnight or something because you could taste the flavor all the way to the center! The rice was perfectly cooked with wonderful flavors mixed in (capers too!). Plantains on the side we're perfectly cooked as well. Desserts there were the guava and cheese pastry and then the pillowy guava square. Sorry I can't remember the names but those were really fresh and truly spectacular! Big fans of guava pastries and we just don't have them where we are. We took some cheese and cheese/guava quesitios, another pillowy guava pastry, and a Nutella quesitios to take home with us. Seriously, must make this a go to eating place if you are in the area! So lately I've been wanting Cuban food, that I myself didn't have to cook. We tried this place out a few weeks ago, when they had ropa vieja as a special. I was able to order online and I loved it, so we decided to order lunch today. I first went to their web page and didn't see the ropa vieja, so I decided to call and see if they had it. I asked the gentleman who answered the phone if they had it today, he said yes. I asked if I could put in a call in order, he said yes what did I want. I told him I wanted 2 ropa vieja dinner plates with the yellow rice and red beans. Just like I ordered the first time through their website via menufy. He said no beans came with the meal if I asked for the yellow rice. I said okay could I add beans to the rice, he said yes. I told him I wanted to add a side of tostones, the green ones not the sweet ones. He said it would be ready in 20 to 25 mins. Which was fine. My kid's ended up wanting something as well, after I hung up so I jumped on their website and ordered 2 cuban sandwiches with yuca fries and a tostones tripleta. Picked up a piece of flan on our way out. The Good, The slightly good and bad, The Bad, The ugly. The Good: My kid's loved the cuban sandwiches. 7/10 The flan was really yummy. 9/10 The slightly good&Bad: The toppings on the tostones tripleta was full of flavor. The tostones themselves, no thank you. I grew up eating tostones. Like every weekend. These were brownish grey, felt like rubber and tasted between a packet of chicken flavoring and yellow seasoning. 2/10 The Bad: I just wanted some red beans added to our meals, like the first time I ordered, instead he added two giant, expensive tubs of it! The Ugly: I was excited that at least I was gonna get to eat my tasty ropa vieja. Yeah nope, not only is it not even close to the same thing I ate there before, it is heavily seasoned in what taste like cumin powder and chicken seasoning. 1/10 *if my ropa vieja tasted like this the first time, I'd never had gone back there. My call in order was around $50.00 for the 2 meals and flan and the giant containers of red bean, that I didn't ask for. And my kid's online order was around $34.00. I will say miscommunication is a serious issue here. It was the only real issue my first time. But this time miscommunication, being charged for items not asked for and the taste of "most" of food ruined this place for me. 2/5 stars. I recommend their dessert. Definitely! We've had the guava pastries the first time as well the flan and they were perfection. 10/10 Anything else is a hard pass for me, now. First time over experience: 4 stars. Last experience: 1 star. *Food is not a one size fits all, while I didn't enjoy the taste of my food today, someone else might have loved theirs. read more

There aren't many noteworthy places to eat in Pensacola sadly. However, Joe's makes the cut! I didn't get to try them when they were a food truck, but I ate in at their restaurant with some friends. The inside is a work in progress, but who cares when the food is good! They have a simple 'seat yourself and order at the counter' type of establishment. No alcohol, but they have some interesting soda to chose from. Their menu has pickings ranging from plates to sandwiches and at a reasonable price! I had the roasted pork, fried plantains, and rice...super good. The pork was succulent and very flavourful. The plantains were just the right amount of sweet. The rice was a little bland, but with some of the sauce on the table it was amazing. So hands down I will be coming back to this place to try more of their cooking! read more

Food was good but not worth $60, including tip (for lunch). The jerk chicken delivered on the spice, but it was reheated as was obvious by the numerous cold bites I got. The service was abysmal. We were the only customers eating there, but the waitress gave us zero attention. She set the condiment tray literally right in front of me so I'm not sure where she thought my plate would go. She brought my tea to me with the top of the lid full of tea so it spilled all over the place. She made no effort to clean up the mess it made so we had to do that ourselves...while she watched and waited to take our order. Not even an apology. We also ordered appetizers but she brought those out at the same time as our meal. She never asked if I needed a refill on my drink even though I ordered a spicy dish. She never came to our table to check on us, and when we were finished we had to go to the counter to request a box and our check. Did I mention we were the only customers there? Of course, she was too busy packaging silverware to notice us so we had to call out to her to get her to turn around and acknowledge us. The food was okay but nothing to write home about. If we ever did decide to give them another try (unlikely after this experience) we would definitely order it to-go. As for ambiance, nothing to write home about.
