It's like all the others I've been to, with a nice view of the "lake" that looks like a river. (They dammed the river, so it's technically a lake) The exceptional thing about the Crab Shacks in the South, is Crab Leg Wednesday - all you can eat for $29. The franchises in my state do not offer that. So, we ate crab legs, 6 different "flavors", you can order as much of any kind you want, comes in half pound portions after the first pound serving. And I chose to roll the dice anyway. *** If you're considering this, don't do it *** Here's the details of our visit. Our "45 minute" wait was closer to an hour and twenty minutes. Which wasn't too terribly bad, we knew we would need to wait. But the restaurant was less than half full. I've chalked this up to low staff. But then: 1. The hostess was snippy. 2. The photo lady got real sassy when we told her we didn't want to pay $20 for a photo that she insisted we take. 4. Our waitress was not attentive (again, low staff) and let our drinks run out twice. 5. Every single item of food from the appetizer to our dinners was cold. This is not an exaggeration, unfortunately. I couldn't even stand to eat mine. I ate two pieces of bacon wrapped shrimp and that's it. Now: With the exception of cold food, any of these things alone would be fine. I get it. Drinks run out occasionally, no big deal. People have bad days, it's ok. We did not have to wait for a table as we went at an odd time of day. Enjoyed looking out over Lake Taneycomo while dining. Had kind of an odd situation arise. My hubby and his dad both ordered a margarita (frozen) and both said that they were horrible. I had to agree-they told our waitress and she offered to have the bartender remake them. My hubby changed his order to one on the rocks, which still was not very good, and his dad got his remade, or so we thought. I had gone to the bathroom (very clean, BTW) during this time and had stopped by the bar to watch the college softball game, and overheard the bartender talking (presumably) about my father in laws drink and how she only added a bit more ice and the customer said it was better. This bothered me and I asked my waitress about it (she was present during the conversation at the bar) as to whether the bartender was talking about our drink. Said I thought that was pretty unprofessional and dishonest to do that when asked to remake the drink. She reported this to her manager who came to the table to ask about the problem. I told her what had transpired, and stated we were not trying to get anything from them but thought she might like to know what her employees were doing. She then spoke with the bartender and ultimately took the drinks off of our tab. I laughed and said "that's what you get ordering a margarita at a fish place!" And thanked her for taking care of the situation. My M-I-L was so excited to eat the crab dip, then was a bit disappointed in it. My hubby had a good blackened fish and veggies (GLUTEN FREE-menu available-don't think he got contaminated), and I had the etoufee which was very tasty. First and foremost this restaurant is hard to find. It is located in a outside mall and you have to walk quite a distance especially if you have some walking issues. We ordered the steamer and the Arctic Bay steam pot. They were both pretty good but if you know your seafood you would not be that impressed. The seasoning is okay but I have tasted better. On my visit to Joe's I presented my card, the waiter made note of the card and returned it to me telling me I need to register it to get the initial $25 off. I told him I registered it the night I got it! Seems it didn't matter. I am NOT a fan of this type of business. On to the good part. It's Joe's Crab Shack. Very commercialized. Very predictable. I ordered a crab boil with all the fixins' and the flavor was on point. The crab legs were actually cooked nicely, not over cooked as usual. The level of spice was very nice. First off, the customer service here is incredible. Never once have I had anything less than their best service. I ordered a steam pot for my mom for mother's day, and she's a cancer patient. She has a really hard time using her hands so I asked if it was possible to split the crab open for her. We were a party of 7. Walked in and were promptly ignored by the two chatting seating female hosts" A young male employee looked at us & we asked to put our name on a list. He went and got one of the females, unfortunately I did not get her name. She had called a short dark hair with the sides buzzed. It obviously angered her yeah and she gave us a dirty look and asked for a name. At the same time my brother said "seven & Rick ". She smirked and said 7 Rick? She then asked for a phone number and my brother and I started to provide our numbers simultaneously. She gave us one of the most hateful looks lI've ever seen. She is the rudestt hospitality person I've encountered in a long time. We walked out. I understand it is hard to find employees, especially these days, I was a server in college.
