We visited on a Monday evening and were quickly seated. My husband and I both chose the buffet. The featured items included a small salad bar, peel and eat shrimp, gumbo, étouffée, fish with dirty rice, frog legs, chicken wings, crawfish boil, and fried shrimp. Although there was plenty to choose from, some of the hot items were not up to temperature. The fried okra was very soft and the potato wedges seemed overcooked and not hot enough. I will say that I quite enjoyed the shrimp étouffée. The broth had good flavor and it had plenty of shrimp. It was definitely my favorite item on the buffet. For about $30 a person, this meal seemed a bit expensive for the quality of the food that was offered. read more

Yum yum come get you some Starvin Marvins. First off, this restaurant is unique because there is a buffet AND a la cart option for diners. Secondly, the burger is so good! We went here because it was on our way to a show and we just slid into the driveway. The logo outside looked fun, so we decided to give it a shot. When we walked inside, we were transported to a cafe in the 80's. Everything was brown and everyone in there looked sad. There was a huge buffet. We were seated and given our menus. Turns out this is a cajun place, complete with shrimp and crab boils, etc. My husband ordered gumbo and I ordered the shrimp scampi. The lunch buffet had a lot of overcooked or dried out food on it and the time was 12:30 on a Thursday. There was not as much variety as I had expected for the price. I've heard about this place for years, and we finally tried it tonight. It's Thanksgiving Day, and Marvin's was one of the few places in town we could positively confirm was open. Appreciated that they had that right on the website. I knew going in they have Creole and other southern seafood dishes. I was on the website that they have a lunch and dinner buffet. I was excited to try that. But when we got there, the buffet was almost exclusively Thanksgiving themed (turkey, ham, stuffing, sweet potatoes, etc ... plus fried fish). And the turkey and ham both looked a little dried out. So we didn't get the buffet. I wish it had been more of a fusion, with both traditional Thanksgiving AND creole. But I did order a fire roasted grilled chicken sandwich, and it was delicious. My wife got the grilled fish tacos, and she raved. The sauce on those things was legit! The atmosphere in there is fun, but nothing special. Our waiter was really nice and attentive, but it felt like it took a long time to get our food. All in all, a good experience. If I come back, it'll be for the non-holiday buffet. read more

This isn't a five star restaurant, this isn't a fancy joint, but it does have some good food! Chill atmosphere with people from all walks of life coming in. I consider this more of a diner/restaurant than anything. The place is a little older but I've been coming here since I was a kid. The breakfast buffet is simple and gets you fed. The food is good quality but don't expect to notch food. This is a place to overindulge and not worry about waiting to be fed. Dinner time was a little different. While again, nothing was mind blowing, (with maybe the exception of the frog legs) it was good quality and it's all you can eat. This include crawfish, frog legs, gumbo, peel and eat shrimp, etc. The gumbo was a little salty, and the the shrimp slightly over-seasoned, but it's a buffet......you can't have it all. The breakfast buffet - well it reminded me of the Army DFAC but one in a remote location. One buffet line with the basics - fruit, two types of scrambled eggs, shredded hashbrowns, biscuits, gravy, thin bacon, French toast, pastries. The sausage was thicker so not quite Army level, but that was it. The scrambled eggs looked like the same type of stuff the DFAC orders or those hotels with the free breakfast. Overall it was fine for a quick pop in to get some basic food and then head out for the day. It is pricey if you're not there to put the buffet to full use several times. The food at Starvin Marvin's is the best. It is the best Buffet in town. They don't have as many options on the buffet as some other places. But the quality is far superior. I would take quality over quantity every day of the week. The servers are always nice and friendly . The only down side is that there is an up charge for using a card to pay. They were running a breakfast buffet special for $8.99. It wasnt worth the money. Pancakes and french toast were hard, the scrambled eggs had no taste, the fruit (oranges) were not fresh, sausage patties were overcooked. Their regular price was $14.00 but its obvious that they need some help. Will never go back (we live in Branson) even with a reduced price. Overall the quality of the food was not good. I want to start this review by saying this place is not my typical type of food, so I'm a little biased in the review. I'll start by talking about the service was fantastic and the ambiance was welcoming. They worked diligently to keep the buffet line clean and make sure we had everything we need. The food, it wasn't bad. I am not much for deep fried food and that's about 40% of the buffet. The shrimp was great and the other foods that weren't deep fried were good too. I tried frog legs and they were good, but I skipped all the other fried food. It's worth a visit read more
