We went into the breakfast buffet to try something different and the place was pleasant. It was around 10, so we were seated immediately. Other than food leftovers on the floor from previous guests, our table top was clean. The server was very fast to get to us and was quick with service throughout the experience. The breakfast buffet - well it reminded me of the Army DFAC but one in a remote location. One buffet line with the basics - fruit, two types of scrambled eggs, shredded hashbrowns, biscuits, gravy, thin bacon, French toast, pastries. The sausage was thicker so not quite Army level, but that was it. The scrambled eggs looked like the same type of stuff the DFAC orders or those hotels with the free breakfast. Overall it was fine for a quick pop in to get some basic food and then head out for the day. It is pricey if you're not there to put the buffet to full use several times. My kid and I each had one plate of breakfast and two sodas for a whopping $48.46 (taxes included). read more

We went for the breakfast buffet with a large group on a weekend morning. We got a table right away, which was a plus since other breakfast places had 1-2 hour waits. I've heard about this place for years, and we finally tried it tonight. It's Thanksgiving Day, and Marvin's was one of the few places in town we could positively confirm was open. Appreciated that they had that right on the website. I knew going in they have Creole and other southern seafood dishes. I was on the website that they have a lunch and dinner buffet. I was excited to try that. But when we got there, the buffet was almost exclusively Thanksgiving themed (turkey, ham, stuffing, sweet potatoes, etc ... plus fried fish). And the turkey and ham both looked a little dried out. So we didn't get the buffet. I wish it had been more of a fusion, with both traditional Thanksgiving AND creole. But I did order a fire roasted grilled chicken sandwich, and it was delicious. My wife got the grilled fish tacos, and she raved. The sauce on those things was legit! The atmosphere in there is fun, but nothing special. Our waiter was really nice and attentive, but it felt like it took a long time to get our food. All in all, a good experience. If I come back, it'll be for the non-holiday buffet. read more

The food at Starvin Marvin's is the best. It is the best Buffet in town. They don't have as many options on the buffet as some other places. But the quality is far superior. I would take quality over quantity every day of the week. The servers are always nice and friendly . The only down side is that there is an up charge for using a card to pay. I consider this more of a diner/restaurant than anything. The place is a little older but I've been coming here since I was a kid. The breakfast buffet is simple and gets you fed. The food is good quality but don't expect to notch food. This is a place to overindulge and not worry about waiting to be fed. Dinner time was a little different. While again, nothing was mind blowing, (with maybe the exception of the frog legs) it was good quality and it's all you can eat. This include crawfish, frog legs, gumbo, peel and eat shrimp, etc. The gumbo was a little salty, and the the shrimp slightly over-seasoned, but it's a buffet......you can't have it all. The waitress that helped us was amazing. She was constantly checking on us and was super friendly. Been coming here since I was 12 years old and still going back at 33. They were running a breakfast buffet special for $8.99. It wasnt worth the money. Pancakes and french toast were hard, the scrambled eggs had no taste, the fruit (oranges) were not fresh, sausage patties were overcooked. Their regular price was $14.00 but its obvious that they need some help. Will never go back (we live in Branson) even with a reduced price. Overall the quality of the food was not good. The service was nice. I was with a group of 6 people and she forgot to put the food order in for two of the people in our group but our server was very nice and attentive. Moving onto the food I got the Cajun burger and was hoping for spice but it tasted a little dry and was just like a regular burger with a side of Tabasco mayo, wasn't very impressed with the seasoned fries. I want to start this review by saying this place is not my typical type of food, so I'm a little biased in the review. I'll start by talking about the service was fantastic and the ambiance was welcoming. They worked diligently to keep the buffet line clean and make sure we had everything we need. The food, it wasn't bad. I am not much for deep fried food and that's about 40% of the buffet. The shrimp was great and the other foods that weren't deep fried were good too. We stayed away from the buffet and ordered off the menu. We started with the onion rings, and they were delicious. We then ordered the hamburgers. They were absolutely delicious. The only change I wish they would make, instead of the long sliced pickles, I wish they put round hamburger dill pickles on the hamburger. It made the hamburger harder to handle.
