I finally tried Joe's Crab Shack for the first time ever. I walked in and was met by a friendly staff. I was seated and drink order taken. No problems there. The prices are pretty high, I know it's seafood...but still. I ordered the Crab Nachos off the appetizer menu. It arrived and was simply delicious. It was about 2000 calories, which was more than I wanted, but it was $11 so you expect it to be a pretty big appetizer. Another guy I was with ordered Fish N Chips, it looked pretty good, but it was something like $12. I don't know if it was $12 of Fish N Chips, mainly since "chips" are just super cheap fries. I scanned the menu and found some exuberant pricing on the larger meals; I will definitely not be ordering them in the future. It's not like it's caught the same day I order it, geeze! Never been to a Joe's Crab Shack before probably won't go to one again. I love seafood but it was mediocre at best. The peel and eat shrimp were straight out of the package with a little old bay sprinkled on it, not good! at other seafood places the shrimp is cooked in seasoning. Also had the mussels not that great it was missing something. The service was slow. I don't get why the servers go and dance when it's busy and they can't keep up with their tables. Fun, fun, and more fun! Yes I always complain of chain restaurants and my disdain of them however I have kids and some are just experiences they need to have and this is a great one! The food is great and obviously the same stuff is shipped across the country to every location and it's going to be the same but what's different about Joe's when there may be high end seafood restaurants around is the fun atmosphere. Came down for afternoon on the landing. Showed up at 3 and the lobby was packed but the dining room was almost empty. Wait was 30-40 minutes and from the look of it they were taking groups to the dining room in 5 minute intervals. So I guess they were trying to space things for the kitchen? I had the Arctic Bay Steam Pot and the Lady had the Classic Steam pot. Both came out pretty quick. Overall we both thought the seafood was bland and overcooked. My lobster was ok but again on the overdone side. Thank goodness for garlic butter. Corn on the cob was good, Crab was ok, and sausage was fine. The part that made me sad was the shrimp were really over cooked talking rubber here. With the price of the Steam posts being between 20 and 30 bucks we kind of expected better food. I had the best hamburger of my life here one year on my birthday. I went back a couple years later and had my worst! So burnt! I was quite disappointed after that. Went for late lunch and the place was busy but we had a table by the window with the view of the lake. The service was friendly and great. The food was hot and fresh. I am sitting here at the restaurant, having waited over an hour for our food. We arrived at 11:30 so we could beat the crowd (we have 2 young kids). Thought I'd start a review cause we have nothing else to do. I'll update when we get our food. Update: Received our food 1 hr 10 mins after arriving. The food was alright. We were offered 50% off for the long wait. The 50% off price was on par for the quality of the food, couldn't imagine paying more than that. I guess you're paying a premium for the "experience" when you're at a place like this. The waitress was very kind and apologetic for our wait. This was my first experience at a JCS. Hope they're not always like this. I initially gave it one star, but increased it to 2 since they offered the 50% off. read more

At least 7 open tables in here and we got sat next to the LOUD kitchen. Not accommodating at all when as asked for a window, think the kitchen thing was on purpose because we brought kids. Food doesn't matter, unless it takes it down to one star. Myself and two of my children made it a point to come and eat here on our spring break trip... I myself have eaten at many Joe's crabshack's in the past but this one (no pun intended)has gone to the pot... after an hour wait for a table we finally sat down to order food and to say it was awful is an understatement... The waitress we had was great but the person who delivered our food was rude to say the least... she even at one point threw a plate on the table and walked off crying. When we finally did receive our food it was cold there was no meat in the crab legs that I had ordered and the shrimp was cooked so long that it was rubber... our ticket ended up being over $100 most definitely not worth it don't waste your time run in and buy a T-shirt leave and say you ate there because it's not worth the price... read more

Everyone is being so hard on Joe's...come on. Yes, it's a long wait, and no, it's not cheap...but it's fun and casual and a nice break from typical tourist-y Branson. It's not a place to go for a romantic date on a Friday night....or if you aren't in the mood to wait for a table. But if you (and the people you are with) can relax and go with the flow, you will enjoy Joe's. I have been there plenty with a swimsuit under my clothes and a sunburn...and they are just as nice as if I were wearing nice clothes. I love the KJ steampot...it comes with mussels and a ton of garlc wine sauce...granted, sometimes there is no sausage in it, or they forget to bring crab crackers...but the folks are nice and the atmosphere is light and fun. By far our worst visit yet. Extremely overpriced for the portions and quality of food we received. Everything was extremely bland, the potatoes were disintegrated (not to mention there were only two halves in each steam pot), the corn was almost mushier than the potatoes, and the crab clusters were nearly microscopic. My wife Kim and I went to Joe's Crab Shack last night (June 6) for our wedding anniversary, and it was fantastic! It was what we'd been planning a while. We splurged and both had the Crab Daddy Feast with the snow, dungeness and king crab. Excellent! The crab legs were so sweet and meaty, very tasty. They were the best we've had. I also have to praise Sarah, our server. She did a marvelous job! Very friendly, very helpful, responded quickly if we needed anything. Sarah is an excellent employee for you and if you're given them out, she deserves a raise! Well if you like seafood this is the place for you! I personally only like the shrimp variety of seafood but that's just a personal thing. Wife and I went in the late afternoon so it wasn't to busy the waiter was nice and sure liked to upsell those damn cups. What can I say I'm a sucker and ended up going home with 2 cups and a $100 bill poorer. If your looking to waste your money on some silly cups and eat some seafood this is your place. Other than that the shrimp was good, the French fries came from a frozen bag, and the hush puppies were like rocks! I thought about throwing one at my waiter to get him away from us with those damn cups!!! Have been a fan of Joe's for years, I love the way they do crab, and you always get your money's worth.... I have visited this location on many occasions, and never ran into any problems, this time I had a small problem, but it was taken care of efficiently and very professional... I had eaten at a Joe's the previous week, in another state, and tried their Baridi Crab. when I arrived at this location I had already set my mind on ordering the same type.. when it arrived at the table, I noticed immediately that it was not the correct crab.. I had ordered a cluster of Snow Crab, in addition to the baridi crab, and both clusters looked exactly alike.. paying the price I was for my meal, I brought the issue to the attention of the server who assured me that it was in fact the same crab, however the picture on my phone of the previous weeks meal showed how different it looked. I still disagreed and asked to see the manager. he arrived, looked into the steam pot and stated immediately that it wasn't the correct crab I had ordered. due to a mix up at the shipping department, they were shipped the wrong crab in the right boxes. he immediately had another steam pot prepared for me with 2 new clusters of crab, and insisted that I go ahead and eat the one previously delivered.. and he removed the crab meal from the ticket.. From the view to the food, we didn't have any complaints bad enough to complain about! Ordered a Shark Bite (very good) and Calamari (great) to start out our dinner. Hubby ordered Fried Shrimp (which he devoured) and I had a Combo of Fish and Chips and Stuffed Shrimp. Hubby's shrimp were very large size and breaded lightly, my fish breading was a little too heavy and the Stuffed Shrimp weren't anything to write home about. Both of our fried seemed to have been sitting under the hot lamp as they were limp and warm, coleslaw had no seasoning and like eating shredded cabbage with a little vinegar dressing, saving grace was the hush puppies, calamari and fried shrimp. Checked in at 6:30 for table for 10 - told an HR. Told them they could split us up. At one hour, checked and told 30 minutes. Seated @ 1 HR 40 min. There were a lot of 4,5,6 person tables who were below us on the list who were seated ahead of us. Argh! Very very very loud music especially if you were seated under a speaker. Food was good - cedar plank salmon was excellent. Waitress was Kaley. She was awesome. My 76 y/o father was very growly when she asked how he was and he explained why. She apologized and offered us free appetizers. Crab dip and crab nachos were good. Great time, great food! I've eaten at Joes before, not this location, but I thought the food and the fun were way better here than other locations. I'd say this was our favorite dinner of our entire vacation to Branson. It's in a neat spot on the Landing, they text you when you're table is ready. We had 2 steam pots with crab, mussels, clams, lobster, potatoes, sausage, corn...all very good! We had the TKO drink and the Hurricane drink...the hurricane is strong. Always love going to Joe's. My wife and I will go out of our way to visit any of the Joe's establishments when we are somewhat close to one (50-100 miles). Every place we have been we have never been disappointed. The service is phenomenal, always in high spirits and willing to cut up with us. You can be as obnoxious and rowdy as you please and enjoy watching the servers break out in a few dances to some current upbeat music at random! The service is very friendly and efficient. We were served quickly and we were smiling and laughing the whole time. Now, the prices are a bit steep for the quality of seafood you get. The crab dip was amazing but the steam pots were mediocre. The sausage was great but the crab legs weren't really "king" and the seasoning was lacking. The shrimp in the pot was overlooked but the potatoes and corn were good. So there's a give and take element about the experience but overall a pleasant one and I will definitely go again. read more
