Joe's Crab Shack was one of the highlights of our Daytona Beach Dinning We ended up going twice!! Being right on the pier over the ocean gives it an unbeatable vibe. Our first visit we ordered the Crab Daddy Feast (assortment of different crab) and king crab boil (just king crab) The crab was sweet, cooked perfectly, and the portions were huge. We liked it so much we came back the next day. Our sever Larry recommended the Captain's Calamari which was a restaurant fav and it totally hit the spot. We also we also tried the Joe's Classic boil which had a little bit of everything and another round of the king crab. Came here just for a snack and a drink. This location is usually really busy and is located on the pier. I ended up ordering a margarita and and some calamari. The drink tasted good but I felt it was extremely watered down. The calamari was great though. It was crispy and tasted very fresh, also well seasoned. I did have higher hopes for the drink but the bite of food made up for it. If you just want a casual beach vibe and a quick bite check out Joes. read more

Stopped in with our Landry's membership to be able to get a table for the 12 of us for dinner after an event in town. We were seated after about 10 minutes and greeted right away. Joe's is not typically my go to, but it was close and easy to get to from where we were. The server was very attentive and made sure we all had full drinks and any sides or condiments that we needed. We were a large party, but he was very attentive. The staff was having a good time with the drinks, birthdays, and doing the cupid shuffle. I was not very hungry so I ordered the peel and eat shrimp, but I didn't want the old bay seasoning on it since that is spicy to me. They were able to do that, but it did leave the shrimp without much flavor. They were cooked well, but also came out luke warm instead of hot. I expected Joe's to be a typical, overpriced tourist trap, where you're really paying for the ambiance and the view. Well, it isn't cheap, but neither is the crab. And the nautical décor and view were superb. But this ain't no tourist trap! Our food (stuffed salmon and a crab boil) was outstanding. They use fresh, small-kernel, butter and sugar corn in the boil and it was perfect! Tender and sweet, not the usual tough, frozen corn you usually get at seaside places. And the crab legs (I had Dungeness, Snow, and King) were deliciously seasoned in the exact combo that I had requested. They might consider adding banana pudding to the dessert menu though. One fun thing was they wrote fun messages on the paper bibs they give you if you order crab. I didn't use mine, but it was fun to see the different quips on those who were wearing them. One thing that really stuck out was the service. Fast and friendly throughout the room. And the manager came to every table and thanked us for coming in. You don't get that kind of hospitality much anymore, especially not at busy seaside restaurants. I'm sold on Joe's (this one, at least). It will definitely be a highlight on future trips to Daytona and I will be trying other locations as I encounter them. read more

Ceasar salad with salmon. Tasty but simple and actually it was nice for it just to be that simple. No need for a lot of extras. Just a good piece of salmon done well and a balance amount of dressing with romaine lettuce. All in good taste within one another. I went here during a work trip and I tried their combo sauce on some snow crab legs. I had a friendly staff and amazing host that welcomed me and seated me. The atmosphere was gorgeous and definitely open. The food quality was great. I just didn't enjoy the combo sauce with Cajun, lemon pepper, and garlic butter. I will give them another try once I head back over there. I will just try another sauce of course. read more

Lively spot that is typically slammed when we've been by in prior years. Last night was pretty mellow for a Saturday night. We walked in with 8 and were seated right away at 6:30pm. Service was good. They have what appears to be pretty good team work for a good customer service experience. Food always fine. Not exceptional, not bad just fine. Felt overpriced. I had the Joe's Favorite boil and was a little disappointed. Comes with 2 kinds of crab, sausage potatoes and a hard boiled egg. Crab seemed to be overcooked as it was lacking moisture and lightness. It was dense and almost chewy. Asked for very mild seasoning but came out very spicy. Same with the sausage. For $50 I wasn't impressed. I would ask for very little or no sauce next time. (I ordered the original optional for reference. Kids meals were typical kid "food"... noodles, Mac, tenders, pizza. Overall it was fine. Tourist kinda place. Fun for kids. Loud, busy. Average food. First impression was the place had a beautiful view at night viewing the moon over the ocean on the walk up. When you enter it's very colorful. We waited at host stand for about 3 minutes before acknowledged. The bar tender smiled and told us the host will be here soon. The host was nice and sat us. When I saw the table first thought was my bench seat was dirty , but my table looked good. Took 8 minutes before someone greeted us at our table. It was weird because I saw a lot of employees around, about 10 other people dinning in but no one acknowledged us until I finally asked someone who walked passed us. I Only know the time because I wanted to place drink order before used bathroom. On positive note, the bathroom was clean. 18 minute to appetizer One steampot took an additional 18min. Server took off the top and then went to get us plates which took 10 minutes so food got cold. We didn't even have a knife to cut the sausage in our steampot. Finally we started to eat out meal. I went to go grab a shrimp and all i could see was a medium sized black straight hair in the shrimp. Gag! Manager came over and apologized. She said she will take it off the check. Never offered anything else, though appetite was lost. They took off the steampot. Fortunately the nachos were delicious and got our hunger filled by them! Best part of the night was spending time with my wife. Expensive food, bad service, I wouldn't go back by choice. We came to see if we wanted to bring back our family but after tonight's experience I know it's not worth it. read more

I had a very frustrating experience at the upstairs bar at Joe's Crab Shack in Daytona on April 10. The bartender working the 2 PM shift (woman with short brown hair & horrible teeth) ignored me for over 10 minutes while I was simply trying to pay my tab, yet continued serving multiple customers who approached after me, and were standing next to me. After being overlooked for that long, I tried to get her attention out of frustration and she then kicked me out of the bar instead of having the situation handled professionally. As someone who has owned a brewery for over 8 years, I can confidently say this was some of the worst customer service I've experienced--disorganized, dismissive, and unnecessarily confrontational. What makes this even more disappointing is that we were in town for a cheer event, and my wife had organized a group of about 40 parents to visit later that evening. After this exeperience, the group went to LandShark that night and the following evening, where we received exceptional customer service. Losing one customer is one thing--losing a large group and the word-of-mouth that comes with it is another. Experiences like this hurt both revenue and reputation. We stopped here after a gymnastics meet. We were a party of 12. We only waited about 10 minutes for a table. Our waiter was friendly, helpful, and on the spot with refills and making sure that we had everything we needed or wanted the restaurant was clean the staff was friendly. We enjoyed a variety of seafood, including peel and eat shrimp which the only complaint was that they were not deveined we had two orders of those we had a couple of foils some steak and seafood platters, which were delicious. The portions were huge so I ordered an appetizer of a crabcake and tomato salad with a side of coconut shrimp. The crabcake was very large and very, very tasty. Enjoyed immensely the coconut shrimp were great as well. the sauce had a bit of more spice in it that I would care for, but it went down well the kids enjoyed their shark drinks and their rice crispy treats that they could paint and decorate. Well it is on the water. I've been to a few others a few times and knew what I was getting into. Food here was horrible! Calamari came out dark brown ( dirty oil in the fryer my guess) hardly any calamari but a lot of fried veggies . The calamari that was in it was freezer burnt like crazy. We hardly ate any of it. I had the Grouper sandwich ‍. Not sure it was grouper . Over-breaded and only comes fried!?. Terrible sandwich. My son had the tacos and he enjoyed them. Pricing was reasonable and for the parking... about $5 for a few hours on the lot with the restaurants logo. Outside seating was only allowed on the front deck and not the back.
