To start, parking could be a problem although we lucked out and found a space on the side street right next to the restaurant. The bread was served piping hot and fantastic in flavor, however I would prefer the cheese and olive oil to be served separate not in the same dish. The wife had Eggplant Parmesan...more cheese and breading than she would have preferred. I chose the Veal Marsala served with all the mushrooms one could handle, but the veal was not pounded thin enough and was stringy for my liking. Well, Joe's has good pizza. Not the best but good for being close to home. As far as Italian dinners go, heck NO. This isn't the 1st time we have been disappointed in their dinners but tonight was the worst! We ordered lasagna, chicken parmesan with spaghetti and garlic and oil pasta. Lasagna was good however the spaghetti in garlic and oil was disgusting. I never had crispy, crunchy spaghetti! This pasta was dry, not seasoned, and measured exactly 1 cup. When I opened the container I thought it was a children's portion. Their prices are not cheap. Very dry sitting in a pot, not covered in water made this pasta dried. They better a cook who knows how to cook Italian food with the new place opening soon. If you want good Italian food go to LaVilla. They take pride in what they serve. The crust was excellent and the pepperoni was the spicier cupping type of pepperoni. The restaurant was clean and had a new interior. Good food But it feels like they would rather not have people of color patronizing their establishment. I have felt this personally and this has been mentioned to me more than once by different people of color. No matter how good the food is no one should feel unwelcome in an establishment where the owners want your hard earned money and are cooking your food. Food should be made with love and you as a consumer should feel the love from the restaurant. The delivery people have always been nice, polite and respectful. I spent the majority of my food experience from Joe's through delivery. I thought I was being sensitive (feeling unwanted in Joe's) until, I suggested Joe's to another person of color that lives walking distance, same as I and their response was they did not want to patronize Joe's because they felt the same type of energy I am talking about. Love this place! My family and I dine in often and they never disappoint. The staff is super friendly, even with my wild toddler. The pizza is wonderful. I love the pan and my kids the thin crust. My extended family dined with us last summer and they are a picky crew. We order a huge variety of menu items and everything was portioned well, delicious and worth the price. I went here a few months back and now I've been back once and carried out twice. As far as food goes I've had no issues. Very good. I like the restaurant, comfortable to eat in. I don't like when you're in a place and they haven't changed a thing and it looks worn out and out dated. If they get busy it can slow down that happened once but the food was still good. I've been in the neighborhood 30 years and went to other Italian restaurants and I really wish I would have tried this a long time ago. It's the neighborhood "go to" now. read more

We had seen many positive reviews regarding the pizza served at Joe's. Looking forward to trying the pizza soon but for our first visit we opted for entrees instead. Classic dishes, very well prepared. We tried both the veal parmesan and the shrimp scampi. Quality of the veal, shrimp, and pasta was great, ample portions for the price, everything nicely plated. Accompanied by soup or salad. The salad is much more than just a side dinner salad. Fresh ingredients and salad dressing. Soup very flavorful. The only knock was that it was warm, not hot when it came to the table. Our fault in not asking to have it reheated, that would have amped the taste up even more Service was great, friendly and informed. It was really nice to visit a local sit down restaurant where you felt welcomed. Although they both also offer carry out, in Jefferson Park I would say that Joe's and Iz-Tatl on Milwaukee Ave are both businesses that seem to understand hospitality. Joe's offers just a few sandwich choices. As a sandwich person, I'd love to see them add something like a chicken parm or meatball sandwich. They have a few tv screens. I enjoyed my white pizza! Sprinkle some garlic powder on it and boom! Great New York pizza. My only issue is it may be a little overpriced. We gathered at Joe's for my brother's rehearsal dinner. The restaurant is a bit small, but they did a very good job in accommodating the 20 of us. I thought they would have a separate banquet hall, but not really. Just the restaurant and they said they can accommodate up to 50 people, so to our surprise they were busy at the time of the reservation. The inside is pretty typical, you walk in and they have booths along the wall and two big tables in the center. That's where we sat down. My brother and his fiance set up the menu to be pizza, wings, mozzarella sticks, and fries, along with beer. They have some good wings, they are very meaty and the flavor is there. It hits the spot, the pizza has to be the best thin crust pizza I've had in a long time. My taste buds are melting from typing this review. The flavor of the sauce makes for a great pizza, and the crust is so crispy I can eat Joe's pies all the time. This restaurant was a good choice for my brother to have his rehearsal dinner at, I am happy with it as where all the people that were able to attend. read more

We've given them a few changes since we love the location, decor, etc. But every single time we leave very disappointed. This place has so much potential. I have been going to Joe's as a kid since the early 70's which was only a few blocks away growing up in Jefferson Park. The original location was a small storefront with maybe two small tables and a counter. The pizza was fantastic and nothing has changed! Fresh ingredients, tasty Italian sausage and the onions are the best! Great service and love the baked bread with olive oil brought to us by the owner, who I remember as a little boy years ago! We have been going to Joe's for many, many years - all 3 generations of the family-owned neighborhood joint! The new location just a block or so west on Higgins is very cool. Love the big windows that open up on a warm evening. We had the Joe's supreme thin crust, which is deliciously crispy crust and cheesy goodness. The house salad is big enough for 2 to share. Had the vanilla biscotti gelato as a special treat and it was yummy. We don't live in the neighborhood any more, but make a trip to Joe's at least once a year. It isn't often that a salad provokes the need for an updated review but I found the urge to be undeniable. 3 years after my first review of Joe's, I am still a regular, satisfied customer. The pizza is still fantastic, albeit a tiny bit salty, but that's the cheese distributors fault as I've noticed the exact same issue amongst other local pizza places. That's neither here nor there, and I have since branched out, trying the calamari, pastas, salad, and desserts. Calamari is usually a reliable indicator of how good an establishment's fried food is, particularly seafood. When I say that their calamari is AMAZING I am not exaggerating. It's perfectly breaded and fried, and the seafood is fresh, not chewy or gummy. The accompanying red sauce compliments the dish well, adding a touch of sweetness and lemony acidity to the fish. But I digress, the real reason I'm here is to say I have never, ever, in my existence on planet earth, had a better, more fresh salad than recently at Joe's. When I opened it up I was legitimately astonished: perfect, unblemished romaine lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and cucumbers came together in the well portioned medley, their appearance completely untainted, as if they had leapt off the page of an advertisement. Nothing, in the thousands of salads I've purchased or made myself, can even hold a candle to this one. I felt it was important to acknowledge this utter perfection because 9/10 a restaurant salad is underwhelming at best and absolutely disgusting at worst. There's nothing good about wilting, browning/blackening, weeks old iceberg being used as filler for a highly mediocre assembly of neglected vegetables. The house vinaigrette dressing was also extremely fresh and delicious--I am SO, SO, SOOOO impressed. Please patronize this restaurant- you cannot go wrong with dining in, taking out, or catering. read more

I asked the driver where it was (couldn't even be bothered to check his car) and he said he never got it. I called Joe's and they told me the driver "didn't take it." Hmmm so no one is at fault here? When I asked for a replacement salad the person on the phone said I can "come drive and pick it up." It is Friday at rush hour in Chicago. I will NEVER order from here again. The best thing of quarantine is Joe's Pizza. My husband and I just got a double dough from there it's honestly one of the best pizzas we've had in a veryyyy long time! The flavor was out of this world, the toppings were very proportional, and it was cooked perfectly. We've tried many pizza places and I have to say Joe's winds hands down for us. Oh hell yes. Best pizza in Jefferson Park, and worth the extra cardio. Get their white pizza. Per their website: Ricotta, parmigiano, and mozzarella blanketing a layer of caramelized onions and roasted garlic on top of a garlic buttered crust. Per me: Crack. Delicious crack. Words cannot describe the deliciousness of their white pizza. And even more importantly, it heats up well ;) I've also rocked their cheese pizza and it was just as good. The staff here are friendly, and didn't give me shit when I forgot my wallet (but I did have my husband for the save). Also, I could prob eat 5 of their nutella and banana panzerotti and consider that a good dinner on a cheat day, but that might not be for everyone.
