Chopped salad - large serving due to abundance of lettuce.

We came here on a whim. We were hungry so we sat down and ordered drinks and calamari. The bread--- absolute highlight of the show! Came with oil, parm and some seasoning already mixed. Yummm!!! Really if you're a bread snob, this was worth the seating. The calamari ($19) was really underwhelming. The sauce was a little off and the calamari was short of nothing special. I ordered the chopped salad. I don't eat bacon so I subbed bacon for cucumbers. It was a generous salad but 90% was lettuce and only a 10% everything else. I'm a salad girl, I could eat a salad everyday. This one was okay, but to bump it to the next level, the lettuce to everything else % needs to be a little more even. Everyone, I mean everyone around us ordered pizza. People were walking in and picking up pizza. So this seems to be more of a pizza joint. Next time, that's what we'll go for! They have a great outdoor patio and inside large windows that are open to the air. Great environment and service was very attentive and punctual. We'll be back, just not for the calamari.

We got mild chicken wings, fried really well and the sauce was amazing. Also tried fried burrata for the first time and yes! that vodka sauce and fried cheese ratio was amazing! For our entrees, I got the braised short rib pasta -- it was cooked well, just not really my preference. My friend had the seafood pasta aka PLATTER! That entree is enough to feed three people, packed with Mediterranean mussels, calamari, Manila clams, and jumbo shrimp! We finished our meal with their chocolate cake and that sealed the deal! The restaurant's ambiance is nice and the service was great!

Wonderfully delicious birthday dinner for my husband: Filet Medallions seasoned and cooked to perfection, freshly made flavorful Arancini and delicately Fried Calamari. Charming and talented musical duo masterfully singing timeless classics. All bifold windows open and restaurant and patio filled to capacity, overflowing with happiness, chatter, and patrons, all with very pleased tummies. Service always 10/10 with this harmonious Team, that thrives in the busiest times, while efficiently maintaining their standard warm, energetic, engaging qualities. The girls went above and beyond and perfectly timed, and surprised, my reserved husband, with an impromptu birthday singing and his favorite vanilla Cheesecake!! Best of the best!

I used to love coming to Joe's on Higgins -- it was easily a 5-star spot for the food, ambiance, and service. The food is still solid, and the new patio seating is definitely a plus, adding to the nice ambiance. Unfortunately, the service has really gone downhill. The server we've had multiple times now seems tired of serving and doesn't take feedback well. On more than one occasion, she's ignored us, delayed bringing drinks, and made us feel like we were asking for too much when we simply wanted to enjoy our meal. It's disappointing because this used to be a go-to place, but the attitude and lack of attentiveness from the server take away from the overall experience. I truly hope management addresses this, because Joe's has the potential to get back to the 5-star level it once had.

Joes is a great pizza place for a drink or two and a great pizza! The service is very friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to help with their somewhat unique pizza styles. The place is very clean, plenty of seating, and occasionally some live music. Their pizzas speak for themselves. No matter which style you prefer, they make it to the best of their ability. I've ordered from here many times and you should too!

07/15/23 - Last night I went here w/my wife. I heard about Joe's Pizza from my sister & have been wanting to check it out. They are located on Higgins close to Jefferson Park. Evidently this is a different location then the one my sister ate at as they have been at this location about 8 weeks. We ordered a white pizza on an excellent thin crust pizza that has 3 cheeses, mozzarella, Parmesan & ricotta cheeses. We also asked for sausage & mushrooms on it. The crust was exceptional as was the pizza. While the pizza was awesome the service was not very good. We waited over 15 minutes until a server came up and took our order. The pizza seemed to take a very long time (approximately 30 minutes) considering it was a thin crust I thought it might be quicker. After we finished I aske 3 different people for the check. The first woman said she would bring it then continued around the restaurant helping other customers. The second was our server who was cute and very friendly but same thing I asked for a box and the bill & she said she would bring it and continued around the restaurant going to other tables. I was beginning to think they were going to comp us the pizza (yeah right). While I absolutely loved their thin crust cheese pizza I felt their service wasn't very good. Would I come back again probably as the pizza was excellent. I give them 5 stars for the food but deduct a star for their slow service

Decent solid pizza. But.... considering there are lots of other equally good pizza's in the area. My gripe is the dessert we ordered. Tasted o.k. but $10.95 and it was miniscule. See my picture with a quarter on top for comparison. I mean this was a joke. Almost half the price of the pizza for a "sampler" slice. C'mon. read more

The food here is good and there is a variety of offererings. The service is good, and the wait stff are very friendly. The food is a bit pricey for a neighborhood restaurant. This is a good place to bring the family. The decor is pizza joint with nothing too fancy about it. When it is nice out, the windows open so it feels like you are outside. I would recommed this place for a casual eveing out. read more

Don't bother ordering from Joe's on Higgins. We did a $70 take out order. The hot sauce opened up and was all over everything. I'm the only one that wants hot sauce so 2 other peoples meals were ruined. The food was not hot barely luke warm. The manager offered to send me more hot sauce and another Italian beef. He can keep my $70 cause he will never get a dime out of us again. Don't bother ordering from here. Total waste of time and money. read more

I was new to Joes before tonight . I think they have really great Chicago tavern style pizza. They showed up speedy quick and the food was still hot. I actually didn't eat it, but my kids and their friends did and if they're happy, well so are the adults. But they have RC and that's a HUGE selling point. Thanks read more

I started ordering Joe's back in 2005 when I lived on Higgins Ave. I've always enjoyed their pastas and fried shrimp. I moved further away and forgot about this pizza place. Last night we decided to order again meatballs, linguine with garlic, and the pasta Bolognese everything-was delicious as always the bread is was soft and warm. It's still one of my favorites small gems in Jefferson park. read more

New favorite pizza in Chicago. I'll take this over Lou's, Pizzano's, Gino's, Bacci's etc... If Salerno's were closer, it would be a tie. Regardless, check this place out if you haven't yet (we've only gotten pizza so I don't know about the rest of the menu... but the pizza is money). read more

This spot was great. I had order for delivery directly with there website. 16"x3 toppings(Sausage, pepperoni, green pepper) $27 and some change. It had the perfect amount of ingredients, fresh peppers, the sauce tasted great. It came with a coupon also(Save 20 coupons, you get a free 12"thin). 1 hour delivery, totally worth the wait. This is my go to pizza delivery place. They are pretty quick and always good! Our favorite is the buffalo chicken pizza. It is ridiculously good! Also noteworthy is the white pizza. It has ricotta cheese on it and caramelized onions. I sometimes have them add hot giardinara and it's great! Now I'm hungry for pizza! read more

Been a while but realized why I stopped here. Always messing up orders and new spot is not an excuse. I was told they messed up my order and is it ok for them to remake my pizza? "I Already payed!!!!!" She looks confused. " can I have a beer while I wait? ". Uuuhhhhm they can get you one for the price!!"" I usually order from Dinos and the 1 time they messed up I was offered a drink for the inconvenience! Will not be returning. I suggest the same. read more

Stopped by today and I have to say I have been pleased with everything I get for take out! Pizza, Chicken wings, Beef Combo with sweet peppers and my number 1 is the Panzarotti which is fried dough filled with your choice. So delicious with generous amounts of filling and always hot. Family owned and operated for 3 generations. They started out on the south side way back in the day, and the brothers were from parts of Italy, Try it, you won't be sorry. It's in the sauce, definitley in the sauce! read more

First time trying Joe's and it was great. I got the white pizza and my husband got a pep and pineapple thin crust. My husband likes his pizza with very easy sauce and Joe's is the first place to get this spot on! The pizzas were excellent but the cashier asked for a tip? I was standing there waiting for my change and then after the awkward pause she asked if I needed change?? I felt pressured and said no. I've never tipped for a pick up order in my life nor did I ever receive tips when working in a pizza place. Weird and uncomfortable read more

We randomly tried this delivery and were surprised how delicious the pizzas are! Check out their website for fantastic coupons! Cheap delivery, fast delivery, pizzas have lots of cheese and sauce is perfect. We ordered a small cheese stuffed pizza that was big and tasty! Also ordered a small chicken alfredo and cheese pizza, both were excellent. For like $32 we got these 3 pizzas using a coupon. Impressive and will be ordering again soon! We have ordered from Joe's three times now per the advice of a neighborhood friend and I think I'm sufficiently ready to write a review. The first couple times we ordered sausage and mushroom pizzas. They were good, a little greasy, but good. Tonight my dear husband, who is horrified by the idea of BLT pizza, was out and I decided I would give it a try on my own. Sweet Jesus, I'm 7 months pregnant and I'm so thankful I didn't find this earlier because I would have gained a bazillion pounds consuming these every night. As it is, I'm going to have to use some serious self control and not get another one tomorrow. The BLT pizza was all I dreamed it would be and more. My order tonight boosted this from a "meh" three star rating to a solid 4. You gotta try it. Edited to add: My husband came home and polished off the rest of my pizza and pronounced it, "AMAZING!". We're ordering another one tonight. read more

Stay away from the minestrone here and the panzerotti. Mushy and old. What a disappointment. The soup was like someone chewed it and spit it back out in the pot. I think they use the same sauce for every entree here. It all tastes the same. I'll be taking rolaids for a week. If I could vote no stars I would. Terrible. read more

Pizza is ok but this time my pizza was way undercooked cheese was barely melted in the middle and crust was not cooked. Only end pieces were edible. I had to take the rest and finish cooking it in my oven. read more

Ordered an extra large pepperoni, sausage and onion pizza from Joes through door dash. Pizza came and had green peppers instead of pepperoni. None of the people eating like green peppers, $39 for the pizza after delivery and tip. Called joes to let them know about the mistake. Woman on the phone said "we can't deliver a new one you have to pick it up". Wait what? You just delivered one...2.7 miles away from the restaurant. I ask for a refund and am told they will issue one, then am quickly told they are unsure if they can offer one. Then I'm given an excuse that I ordered through door dash and that's why they can't fix it. Even the hand written paper says the right ingredients. Why try to blame door dash? I am a restaurant manager and I have personally delivered meals to customers who got the wrong order through our third party apps. This was more than disappointing and I'm left feeling robbed of nearly $40. Never again Joe's. Shame on you guys. Not even an apology!!! Terrible business. read more

What's that joke about how pizza and sex are similar in that even when it's bad, it's still pretty good? The pizza was OK, though a little greasy. They actually got our order wrong, but we didn't want to wait for another pizza. What got me was how they actually had the audacity to call us back and tell us that we held up their delivery. Yes. They called us up and told us how to order next time. Well, guess what? There isn't going to BE a next time! With so many other great pizza places (One is right next door to me), why would I order from here again? The only reason we even ordered from here was through a recommendation. I like Little Caesar's better! read more

How Joes Pizza isn't a five star restaurant is beyond me... I've had every pizzza across the board when it comes to Chicagoland area. Nothing beats Joes. Ask for well done on top of whatever pizza you prefer. No other pizza will taste the same. read more

It's been at least 18 years since we came to Joe's for pizza. Today's pizza was exactly as we remembered. Stuffed sausage, ground beef and tomatoes! Yum! The sauce is a sweet sauce. Not overpowering! Only downside: I really dislike DietRite so had to order iced tea. Ordering from home for the stuffed pizza is the way to go. It won't another 18 years before we come back! read more

My wife and I just tried Joe's Pizza. Dine in. Great friendly service. Old school Chicago. We ordered a small Caesar salad and a 14" supreme thin crust pizza. All of it was good. The pizza was great. I really liked everything about the pizza. The crust was exceptional, being very thin yet with a crisp and slight chew. The sauce was great and the cheese was just the right amount. Ingredients seemed fresh too. All good! Can't wait to try another pie. read more

We love this place. The pizza always is awesome (best in the hood in our opinion) but beyond that everything else on the menu is solid! Most little places like this u expect the pizza and the Italian beef to be good but not much else but with Joe's everything is good. Even the salads... not the normal weird hunks of tomatoes and peppers you see at so many other pizzerias. The chopped salad legit and really tasty. All the speciality pizza are awesome... again just never disappointed and we tried a good bit of the menu. read more

If you have seen any of my other reviews, I always get a meatball when I'm at a place that has them. They almost never live up to my expectation. But this place has the new gold standard for a meatball. It was everything you want. It is fork tender, full of flavor, no chewy ground up bits. The pizzas were authentic and thin. With fabulous house made red sauce that wasn't too thick and overwhelming. The flavor was A+ The cocktails were so good! All made from scratch with love. The ambiance was cozy and comfortable. Perfect for a group or a date. They have a full bar, and also great seating with perfect lighting. This is a new favorite for me in the city.

Overall a solid space, and I look forward to going back and trying more of the menu

We had visited Florence last year, and one of the numerous wonderful moments of our trip to Italy was seeing "Il Porcellino" - the lucky bronze boar fountain that draws tourists from around the world. A copy of the boar stands proudly near the entrance of the restaurant, and though it is not as old as the original 1634 sculpture, it was a charming reminder of our amazing Italian holiday. Did I mention that the weekday Happy Hour (4-6PM) specials are quite good? The specials are served only at the bar area, so you might have to wait a few minutes for available seating. We started with some drinks, including two kinds of Negroni. The wild mushroom arancini (5 little balls for $6) were the smallest I've tried, but they were creamy and melt-in-your mouth delicious. The whipped ricotta and jam beautifully served on a strip of toasty focaccia was a unique taste sensation. Prime beef meatballs and short rib sliders on toasted ciabatta bread also hit the spot. Even though we were merely dining at the bar, we enjoyed the overall vibe of the restaurant. There are lots of photos on the walls, interesting lighting from the ceiling, nice serving dishes, and servers who seem to know who their regular diners are. We look forward to returning to Il Porcellino, to bask in that indescribable feeling of being in Italy again.

Between the two of us, we've had lasagna at countless restaurants, and nothing has come close to this one. It's hands down the best lasagna we've ever had. Perfect layers, incredible flavor, and the kind of comfort food that makes you want to savor every bite. Their Grey Goose espresso martini is also unmatched. We've tried espresso martinis all over Chicago, and this one is still our favorite. It's smooth, perfectly balanced, and the ideal way to start or end the meal. The atmosphere is another reason we love coming here. The restaurant is gorgeous inside, with a dark, moody vibe that makes it feel special without being stuffy. It's the perfect date night spot whether you're celebrating something or just looking for a great night out together. If you're visiting Chicago and love Italian food, Il Porcellino is a must. The potato salad as a side was the perfect pair. Portion sizes were great and overall a good experience! I would go again to try some of the other options.

I write this review with an honest assessment of food and service. So here it goes! My family and I have been customers of this place for over 20 years. We called one evening to have our order delivered. It was a pretty good size order and we happened to have a coupon that said we could get an appetizer for up to $6.00 for free. We asked the girl if we could get the calamari appetizer and just pay the extra dollar of the cost of the calamari and she said NO! We asked to speak to the owner. She came to the phone, and when we asked her if this was possible, she said NO as well. We reminded her that we were prepared to pay the difference and all that we were asking for was our $6.00 to be honored towards the price of the calamari. The answer was still NO and she went into a lengthy explanation of how their calamari was fresh not frozen and there was a lot of work that went into making it, and she could not give away the calamari, but she could give us an appetizer that we didn't want for our coupon. So to us that coupon was worthless! We reminded her that we are good customers that have been ordering for a very long time on a weekly basis if not more often. She still could not seem to part with her precious calamari. It's not like we were asking for it for free. Anyhow, we did inform her that we would take the order we had placed but we would not be ordering again, and we haven't. It bothers us that customer relations were not honored. We weren't pain in the butt customers or constant complainers. We were good, regular customers. When we said we wouldn't order again, her comment was okay then go and order from somewhere else. Really lady? Maybe your business is doing well now, because other restaurants in the area have closed but, I'm sorry if I was a business owner I would value each and every one of my customers. After all that's why you are in business and successful to begin with. Now with that being said, we had always enjoyed the food at Joe's. It's the customer service that needs drastic improvement and it's on the part of the owner. Remember who built your business. Without the customer you are nothing, continue to treat people that are good customers the way you treated us and you won't have any left. read more

Lived in Jeff Park area for my whole life. Been going to Joe's since early early childhood. Can't say enough about how good the food is!! The pizza is outstanding! Just a small place with a cute, newly remodeled dining area and bar, but the food and service is excellent. Lots of new additions to menu. Tried em all.....Margherita pizza is to DIE FOR! Everybody who passes thru Jeff Park cannot leave without trying this hidden gem. Enough said; you havent had a pizza unless you had one from Joes. read more
