We won a raffle so thought, why not use the gift card here? We checked the menu, which is pretty varied. It looked "fine," and we weren't expecting much. The art installations in the parking lot and the beautiful outdoor patio got us thinking that maybe we needed to raise those expectations. What we got inside was excellent and responsive service, and a team willing to make a few modest modifications to the menu for us. Yay! When I asked if the herb-crusted haddock was breaded - and if so, could I get the herbs but not the breading - our server Ava said she wasn't certain, and would confirm this before I ordered. She promptly let me know the kitchen could make that adjustment for me. Iced coffee not on the menu? We'll bring a large mug of hot coffee and a glass of ice. When the food came, my husband wasn't impressed at first with the look of his pizza. He thought the cheese was kind of overcooked and the crust maybe underdone. Nope! The pie was made with cheddar, which melts differently from the mozzarella he'd been expecting. The crust had that finished outside, chewy inside that he likes, and he thought the pizza was really tasty. (It had to be since he ate several slices, even after indulging in a few pieces of the DELICIOUS complementary ciabatta with spicy cheesy dipping oil on the side.) I very much enjoyed my fish. The waiter spinach was a great accompaniment, and I'm pretty confident that the mashed potatoes were made in house. All in all, we had an unexpected good lunch! read more

Haven't been there for a long long time and wanted to give them a try. Out experience weren't all positive so probably won't return anytime soon. Wife and I went there on a Wednesday night around 5ish. Given it's a holiday season, I was expected to see abit of a crowd. I was told the wait would be 30min and I am ok with it. Gave the hostess my number, got a text confirmation, then went and sat outside for our ping. 45min went by and parties who arrived later than us were all seated, I walked in to check my seating status only to see empty tables in the dining area. Hostess said yeah we have a table for you and proceed to get help to clean it up. I was pretty frustrated at that point since it's very obvious to me she forgot about us. No apologies. Gave us a middle table smack in the middle of all the tables (I can already see waiting staff can't get to us easily) and took them a good minute to clean up while we waited longer. We were finally seated and took the another good minute to stop by for order on drinks. Food was very very salty. Both wife and I ordered pasta related dishes and cannot finish. Would not order the same dish again. Waitress was nice, but as expected she didn't come often for water refill or check up on us. The middle table limited the access to us. All things considered Joes offered a unique experience and menu selection. Always loved their bread. But based on being forgotten and salty food, I won't be returning anytime too soon. read more

I'm a frequent visitor to Joe's,The Black Whale',The Sail Loft,Candela Cuchina,and several others.Four years ago I was introduced to this restaurant chain by the Owner's Aunt.She and I play together in the same Symphony Orchestra.For over three years I've tried to reach out to him to complement him on his success and wonderful restaurants with fine food,great atmosphere,varied menus,and very well qualified staff .I've called to reach him,left messages when in the restaurants with assistant and primary managers, even leaving notes on one occasion.He has never had the decency to reply.He and his outside staff comment on many positive and some negative reviews on a regular basis,but apparently when family gets involved he becomes silent.The most recent event occured three weeks ago when I called to reorder two quarts of salad dressing that I enjoy from the Waldorf Salad.In April I paid $30.00 for both quarts and when I reordered less than two months later in June 2026, the price didn't go up in line with manufacturers printed increases of 25-30%, but 66.7% to $50.00 for both quarts,plus $2.50 for packaging for take out.Take note that if you eat there and ask for food not consumed to be wrapped for take out,there is no charge.Making the total increase 75%.This is wrong and is Predatory Pricing.If the owner had been a gentleman and called me back,I could have possibly overlooked the salad dressing issue, but not this time.I would like a response from Steve Silverstein and not one of his paid responders.......StephenB.Fall River,Ma. read more

This place is packed. You might want to get a reservation on the weekend. We waited about 20 minutes. I don't fault them for that. The bread and oil before dinner are outstanding. The drink menu is a little pricey. A mid-tier tequila cost $17 and a beer was like 12 for a draft IPA. The food was reasonably priced and it tasted really good. I had the jambalaya. The service was good too. Unfortunately I can't give five stars for two reasons: first, I think the prices on the drinks are a little high. I got take out from here and got two pizzas. Hot honey pepperoni and the Rita's. I was able to eat two pieces when on the third piece I bit down on a piece of metal in the pizza. Well, I am on my usual vacation to Newport RI. I am here for the relaxation and the food. There is 6 a list of restaurants that I always go to every time I come. I dont need a menu unless I feel like trying something different. At the hotel that I'm staying at, I asked Paige at the front desk if there are any other restaurants in the area worth trying. She suggested Joe's Original. Said the bread and dip is amazing amd the food is excellent. Well, I took the drive, which was only 40 min and in another state, but it was well worth it. My server TIFFANY T, was the most amazing server/bar tender ever. Honeat about the items on the menu and gave great suggestions on what should try seeing as it was my first time there. She was friendly personable and attentive. Finding out she was pretty my working a double shift. She never stopped moving and always had a smile on her face and engaged with all the guest at the bar where she was working. I narrowed my meal and dessert to two items and got her opinions on each. She did not disappoint. Great size portions and the food had amazing flavor. I truly highly recommend this resturant if your in Dartmouth or anywhere close. It's worth the drive. read more

Went here for a work lunch with coworkers and we were treated straight away and seated with no fuss. The interior was pleasant and our server was very nice. We didn't order an appetizer but I am glad they gave us bread and oil which was tasty. I had the mustard chicken club and it was really good, the fries were fantastic as well. Joe's is a family favorite go to, whether it's for dine in or take out. Fun art deco walls and bright colors create a welcoming environment bringing people back for more time and time again. The service is always top notch, and they really know how to accommodate every one. The patio when in season is absolutely beautiful, surrounded by colorful wild flowers. Dogs are more than welcome and they will bring your pups water bowls. Everything on the menu is delicious from the pizza to the pasta. Always offering new special menus and drinks. The lavender lemonade is my personal favorite, fresh, light, and refreshing. Pros: Cleanliness is spot on. Service was decent. N/A drinks were delicious. Bread & oil was delicious as always. Cons: - Ordered the steak and cheese egg rolls, came out cold in the center. Waitresses comped them and gave us a fresh batch which was appreciated! - Chicken parm was not the greatest, chicken was rubbery and breadcrumbs were overcooked and burnt. We love this place! We were served by Ginelle and Amber and can't say enough good things about them. They were both so friendly and personable. It makes such a big difference to spend time in a restaurant where you really feel welcomed and taken care of. Our lunch was fabulous and the gluten free carrot cake was the consummate cherry on top! I came to NYAJ (now known as Joe's Original Kitchen and Bar) tonight for one of my first nights out since COVID - I was extremely impressed! The restaurant has adapted to COVID times, and has created the cutest outdoor seating area with umbrellas, lighting, and colorful flower boxes everywhere! All employees were wearing masks, and seemed to be properly following COVID protocols. My newest obsession on their menu is their chicken enchiladas - I cannot get enough of them! I think they are a seasonal special for the summer, but I am hoping they keep them on the menu for good! Food is always hit or miss but the takeout service is atrocious. In the last few visits, undercooked chicken. Missing salad dressing. So my most recent visit, I got a little attitude from an employee. I had an order of Caribbean tenders. I get home, no bleu cheese. I call to make sure, "hey is it supposed to be included?" The person on the phone says yes. I ask why it wasn't? She said do u want me to get the manager? I say not needed (cuz I was just there and it was busy). So I just say, tell your manager it's getting a little sloppy over there and clean it up. So she gives an "okayyyyy" and I say please do and I'll call back later in the week, and she snips "yea go for it!" And the call ends. Just a horrible experience AGAIN from a place that makes good food terrible due to the service. Who eats chicken tender appetizer with no sauce. Salad with no dressing. I read the reviews and stopped in with two young once's for lunch and boy was I disappointed. We started which nachos that came out literally as much as a small bag of chips and they were burnt. My kid ate one and yelped that it tasted like "burnt". I asked the waitress if they usually look like that or if the cook burnt them and she said they usually come burnt by accident and laughed. Apparently they get out in the brick oven which is why they look like that...the manager agreed with me that they were burnt and refunded which was nice. Then the main course came and the Nashville hot taste super ghost peppery instead of other Nashville hot flavors I have tasted but it was mediocre at best. The grilled cheese was more disappointing. The cheese was like prepackaged wax cheese which you could see the super shine in the pictures. $60+ for three ppl for this trash was super disappointing I won't be back! read more

We go to OJ several times a yr, almost always, no problem. Last night, there were a few. First, friend ordered her usual certain pizza which she really likes. Server was at 1st, pleasant but the further along we got w.these issues, she seemed annoyed tho not her fault. For a Tues., place was busy. The biggest offense? When the bill came, I was overcharged $5 so informed server. She seemed doubtful but did, indeed, bring back corrected bill. Our other friend just paid hers, didn't chk.menu price. She, too, overcharged by $5 which she discovered this a.m. If this overcharging was consistent all day, the overcharges would have amounted to quite a pretty penny. Am sorry having to write this review as we've been coming here for yrs. But someone on the management side needs to wake up. The unappetizing, burned pizza was removed from bill (good).
