As much as it pains me to do so, I can't fake the funk. When Joes opened in Wynwood, I was ecstatic. As a Joe's Pizza (6th Ave) afficionado, I gladly welcomed the Joe's version to South Florida. This is twice in a row I go to this location, the Fresh Mozzarella is floppy, COLD and the worst part of it, super ACIDY! Tomatoes tasted "canny" if thats such a thing. My stomach was on fire the whole night. Now say what you will about the water in florida, the dough, the sauce, but it does NOT compare to the NY location. Obivously, different strokes for different folks, but this is my opinion on what should be a staple. I couldnt even eat the second slice. Super disappointing. But the only reason I say this is because it is the 2nd time in a row it has happened. Service was blah, not that I was expecting folks to be jumping up and down, but at least a bit more friendly. Even while getting rushed out of the NYC spot it has more interaction. The kicker??? I ordered the bottled Coca Cola. No offer to open the bottle, as it should be an option. But I tried the place. I tried twice. It just didn't work for me. Glad to see others enjoy, but I guess I just expect it to be just like the original. NO JOE.. I mean NO GO! read more

This pizza was on point! Typically when I see the photos of celebrities on the wall I get a tourist trap feeling but it definitely lived up to the hype. Would highly recommend again! read more

I was wandering around Wynwood after going to the Perez museum. As I was driving to find a spot I noticed Joe's. I was super excited because I miss good pizza. I've been to a couple of Joe's locations back north and I had been wanting to come here since they opened. I started with one deluxe slice and a Diet Coke. The pizza was as good as I've had it from NY. I ordered another deluxe slice. It was hot, crispy and delicious. The sauce was good and just the right amount of cheese. My only wish would be fresh mushrooms instead of canned. The service was excellent and I wish they were a bit closer to home but now I have a place for an easy quick meal if I'm in the neighborhood. read more

Almost exactly like their Carmine Street location. Only difference is the sauce is a tad bit sweeter. The pizza was delicious. Debunks the myth that you can't make great NY pizza out of the city because of the water. read more

The original Joe's in the Village is my favorite pizza place on the planet. Used to live right by it. This place is good for Miami but not exactly the real thing. Not nearly enough Sauce on the pie. The bottom was almost all black instead of the leopard spotting you want ideally. Joe (Pino) would not be proud of the slice I had. read more

This has easily become a top pizza place for me. Yes, I usually go after a night out but you can never go wrong with Joe's for a good pie or slice. I wish I had pictures, I promise to get some next time but I scarfed down the pizzas too fast. Let's just say the quality is unparalleled while also producing huge quantities. Every time I go to Joe's there's a huge line and every one is always excited entering the place both for the smell and the taste. I will certainly be back. read more

Thought I'd compare the competition to my favorite Miami Slice. JOE's is an Institution in NYC for a reason and I can see why. Wanted to try a regular slice to compare 'apples to apples' but the Caprese & Spinach w. Ricotta looked too good. Tasted as good as they seemed. Definite AUTHENTIC NY Style pie. LOTS of different offerings. Very nice size slices at reasonable prices and service was good. Very cool location in the heart of Wynwood on NW 25th street and cool overall vibe with all the pictures of the characters that have frequented both NYC and MIA locations. I'll definitely be back. No wonder PORTNOY rated it an 8.2! read more

Well, what can you say......the delivery person must've been auditioning for an episode of Dukes of Hazard because our pizza arrived looking like they had jumped the Brickell Bridge and landed upside down. Pizza was stone cold and left for dead on my door. Opened the box and holy cow, just look at the picture......road kill. We're going to give them a 5.0 for the attempt and a 1.0 for presentation for a combined score of 2.5. We hope that the governing body takes into account that going into the physical location in Miami is a much better experience. The dismount was a total failure and hope no one was hurt in the process. Joe, get your drivers *#%$ together. read more

I don't get the good reviews. Ordered for delivery and it was so mediocre it's not funny. Pizza was barely flavorful, it was cold and not like it got cold in during delivery but it sat for a while before it even got to me. It was soggy. Literally a disappointment. Definitely one of the top 10 pizza spots to go to in Miami!! The pizza was exactly what you would want in a New York slice like I enjoy. Ordered in from Joe's Pizza last night and it was so good! It was still warm when we got it and definitely was one of the best delivery pizzas I've had! One of my friends has a severe allergy to mushrooms so we decided to call the restaurant after placing our order to make sure they would be careful when preparing our pizza and the staff was very understanding and made us feel comfortable about our order. This pizza is terrible. Sauce is sweet, too crowded (how many dirty hands have touched those gross cheese & red pepper shakers??), staff is ummm....not hospitality focused, and the toppings just sit on the crust in clumps (likely because the slices sit around for long periods of time - nothing is ever good after sitting). Another half baked NYC import for all the Miami transplants to enjoy. Plus, I absolutely hate all the celebrity photos of the NYC restaurant they hang. None of them are from Miami. Whatever happened to hot bubbling pizza with melted cheese, fresh toppings, and delicious marinara sauce??? Why is that so hard?? Please, oh please....don't New York my Miami. read more

Should have read the reviews. Pizza was burnt, on the thin side. Sauce had a lot of acid, not the best cheese went burnt. To be honest it was a tasteless pie with an overwhelming burnt flavor. I prefer Steve's less money, sauces, a little sweeter pies, a little thicker and less money.. also, not a big fan of the big pepperoni I like the small tastier version read more

Completely decent by the slice pizzeria by NYC standards, great by the slice pizzeria by Miami standards. I've been to several of their locations in the NY area. In Miami the crust was just a little lest crunchy due to either not enough time in the oven or Miami's notorious humidity. I'd go back if I was in the area, but wouldn't make a special trip. Service was very accommodating and loved the attention they gave my little ones. Seating is very limited but I'd definitely recommend eating it in house so it's as hot and fresh as possible. read more

Say it ain't so Joe... :-(. Every business trip to NYC (4 in the last year) means that I make the effort crossing town, no matter what time of day to stop at Joe's in Times Square for a slice of cheese. When I saw that you opened in Wynwood I rushed over on Sunday, brought friends and we had great slices of cheese, spinach and Sicilian. I am 1,000% a fan so imagine my disappointment late yesterday (Wednesday) when I decided to go on a pizza-run for a slice of cheese to discover that Joe's has taken a page out of Mister 01's book, and for cost savings during the week reduced the amount of cheese and dough! !@#*. It was the lamest slice ever and I drove across town for it! Shame on me for thinking you wouldn't compromise! Shame on you for underestimating your recipe! Don't disrespect the power of a slice of cheese and don't mess with what's GREAT about Joe's! read more

I always thought Joe's in the West Village was better than average pizza but overrated and more of a touristy place but when I was a student at NYU it more than served its purpose - however being from The Bronx I always knew that there was better NYC pizza than Joe's. The Joe's in Wynwood looks like the real deal and the employees are nicer than in NY. I ordered two pies, a regular and a Sicilian (in local parlance that would be a square) and was disappointed with both. The regular pie was not crispy at all and the dough was a little too thick. In essence it did have a nice but vaguely NYC flavor but the execution was off. The Sicilian Pie was a failure with dough that had no crunch at all and was too bready. Also, what's up with the sauce? It is way too sweet and I don't recall the sugar overkill in the NY location. What was interesting was the already prepared slices behind the counter looked better than the two pies I ordered so perhaps I just got unlucky or maybe it was an off night but I still prefer Lucali's in Miami Beach (also a NYC Pizza Place). read more

I'd say they excel in that category. There aren't many toppings to choose from, many points lost from me in that regard. The slice portion feels on par with what you pay for, it's not overpriced for what it's worth. Also, there was no line and very little wait time contrary to what I expected it to be, according to other reports. Overall, I think I need to try it again, maybe on those Monday Chef curated nights and see if they are more extraordinary.

If you miss the authentic no-frills vibe of Gramps in Wynwood, then you likely also miss the best…read morepart of their bohemian courtyard, Pizza Tropical. I was bummed for a few weeks after I learned about their January shutdown. That was until I found out recently that this pizza haven has opened their own stand-alone establishment on Biscayne and 70th just next to Dogma. Lucky for me, today was Pizza Tropical (or PT) day. The first thing that struck me was their outdoor seating area which was suspiciously familiar... in fact, if they didn't snag the furnishings right out of Gramps' courtyard, then they came from a close cousin. The inside was more polished up, but still showcased a couple of the colorful shabby tables. We made friendly with the cashier/pizza prepper who dressed the part with an oversized Blondie T. We confessed that we had been raptured by their unique pizza recipe for some time and how jazzed we were that they had found a permanent home of their own beyond Gandaddy's (and I use the term endearingly) back yard. She had a confession of her own - they tinkered with the goods. But she spilled the beans with a confident grin, so Joe and I never panicked, but our concern was likely perceived. The pepperoni slices came to our table within 3 or 4 minutes. Ahhh yes, just the way I remembered - curled up pepperoni loosely lounging in a shallow sea of cheese and tangy sauce. The crust edge just a wee singed to perfection. But the fresh basil leaf that once adorned the wedge like a shiny green Christmas ribbon was now chopped into slices that covered a greater area of real estate. We helped ourselves to the oregano and crushed pepper before our Blondiephile offered up some parm which she scooped from a plastic container. Upon closer inspection, I noticed this was not their former finely grated Parmesan I had been a fan of. Nope, these resembled hunky shards or even crack rocks of the Parmesanian variety. I spread them strategically over my slice so as not to get too high on parm. Then the bite. Wham-o! Instantly, I knew Esteeve's was going to have a couple of extra seats at their disposal for the foreseeable future. Whatever PT did to their recipe, and perhaps it was those shards of parm rocks, but it was like eating pizza out of a crack pipe. The combo of super zesty curled up pep and the healthy bath of tomato tang was like a surge of electricity - flashback to 7-year old me giving a lick to the top of a 9-volt Rayovac battery. Every bite consistent from front to back. The crust - perfection. Light as a feather but crackling like a Fourth of July sparkler. The crust edge alone deserves an Oscar for best supporting role in a kick-ass slice with its complex portrayal of nooks and crannies in toasty pockets filled with baked aroma. I can't say anymore than what've tried my best to convey here except for this - there are lots of trendy slices in Miami that get a lot of print and make a lot of noise. But you may want to get a hearing aid and tune in to the quieter frequency that dominates Miami's pizza space. A nod to Gramps for first turning me on to Pizza Tropical.

And the toppings are really delicious too. They have the standard flavors, plus some interesting ones like pear and ricotta, prosciutto and fig, hot honey. The carbonara is definitely a favorite of ours, with sweet caramelized onion, stretchy mozzarella, and savory crunchy bites of bacon. The 10" size is perfect for one, the large for two or three. You can also order any pizza as a calzone, and they have a few choices of pasta too. As it's a busy place, be prepared to wait a little for the pizza.

I'm holding back one star because when I went they had run out of their burrata salad (though in a way that would be good because that means they keep ingredients fresh). I like the fact that unlike other restaurants, they sell personal pizzas (roughly 4 slices). Mine was the hot honey pizza, with lots of pepperoni, a good spread of cheese and of course seasoned sweet & spicy! Since I was loading for a fitness event, I had also ordered their bbq chicken wings as well as nice and crispy fries to munch on. The serving of fries was generous, as there was more than enough to take home.
