I've been to every Joe's pizza in NYC and it's always amazing and consistent. When I heard they were coming to Miami I couldn't wait to go when I'm down for business. Best pizza in Miami! Went last night after a birthday and there was a line but it was worth the wait. It went by quickly. We had two slices of pepperoni pizza and one square cheese. The gentleman heated them up quickly. They were perfect, not burnt, not cold. The square pizza had incredible , crispy dough. The pepperoni pizza was spread evenly throughout pizza. My goal in life is to find the best pizza, in south Florida, so I'll try anywhere. I ended up in Wynwood and had heard this place is where I need to be, it brings in water from New York and that's what gives it the delicious taste. Nice pizza spot in Wynwood. Slices were reasonably priced, but the price for drinks was outlandish. I kept it simple and grabbed a slice of pepperoni and a slice of cheese. They do have the cheese, pepper, spices to add to your food, before leaving. Slices were ready in about 7 minutes, and were hot. I hated how it was packaged my slices on a cheapo paper plate and in a paper bag, grease galore which was not insulated. As I walked back towards my car I ran into the ice cream place next door and grabbed a treat (judge ya mammy, I'm pregnant). Finally made it to my car on the next street b/c parking in Wynwood is the pits, sat down and said, "Eff it, let's see what the hype is about." My slices of course did not travel well and were rolled up, grease was everywhere, and were only mildly tepid in temperature. I took a bite and wasn't disappointed, but wasn't madly in love. The crust was too crunchy and the sauce too sweet. The pepperoni was the star, salty, and chewy and plentiful. Is this the best pizza in South Florida, naw, my spot in Miramar (next to Perry Education Center) still holds my heart and top spot, but will I stop back in, if I'm in Wynwood, craving a slice? After visiting Wynwood Walls museum we were hungry and saw Joe's Pizza and I just love New York style pizza do we decided to try. The place was full and took us almost 20 minutes to place an order. While waiting I saw all of the walls decorated with pictures of celebrities and sports players. Now, I'm not sure if these pictures were taken at Miami location or at NYC. As a Joe's Pizza fanatic, it really pains me to write this review. I'm not from New York & have yet to experience the super authentic pies that bless the streets of Brooklyn, Manhattan, etc -- but I have spent an almost worrying amount of money at the multiple Joe's Pizza locations throughout Los Angeles, CA. I know good pizza and I love good pizza. I know each location makes their pies a bit differently, and of course, it depends on the day -- but I've always been able to count on a certain consistency in flavor & texture, even on those off days. I got a very hot and fresh cheese pie from here yesterday, so big it almost didn't even fit in the box -- but the flavor of this pizza tastes as if someone was trying to replicate the recipe from an online copycat recipes of Joe's that made the sauce way too sweet & the texture not as pillowy. I've seen a few bad reviews and figured (and hoped) it was just people being too critical, and I'm super disappointed to find out that these folks are right. Since Joe's is so close to my heart, I wish I could say that I would come back to this location simply because I'm familiar with it, but I could get a better pizza at a chain restaurant. As a New Yorker now living in Florida, there's nothing like having a taste of home. Joe's pizza hits the spot every time I'm in Wynwood.

Make no mistake about it: Joe's Pizza on Carmine St in New York is the best pizza I've ever tasted. ( I consider myself to be fairly well-versed in all pizza styles.) There's always a line to grab a slice, but it moves very quickly and allows you a few moments to contemplate what goodness lies ahead. I didn't know of the Miami Joe's until very recently (I'm a transplanted NYer, a real rarity in S FL), and was eager to try it. I was in Wynwood, so the plan came together easily. Except it was late afternoon--too late for lunch, too early for dinner. So I chose to order a half-cooked plain cheese pie that I'd heat up at home. The pie was waiting for me when I arrived. I couldn't but notice the work ethic at this place. Miami restaurant workers can be very slow, but the people at Joe's were cranking. When I was ready to eat, I preheated my oven to 400 degrees and popped the pie in. In short order, the outer crust was crispy and the cheese was bubbling hot, just like when they pull a pie out of the oven at Joe's NY. The pie is NY-style, which is to say very thin, cheesy/oily, and conducive to folding in half the long way. There's always a sort of existential question you'll ponder when you have this cauldron of goodness awaiting: do I wait until it cools off or do I risk third degree burns to my upper palate? Sort of a metaphor for life, isn't it? There's only one answer for me, always, and that is to accept the challenge and take the first bite (which is always the best) right away. Like most everything good, it's the simplicity of the preparation matched with impeccable execution and first-class ingredients that deliver the best results (the exception, of course, is French cooking which is intricate, involved and exacting). This is a solid pizza chain in NYC. I'd rate them four stars up there. Not the best in NYC for the money, but solid. In Miami (and especially Wynwood) that is otherwise full of fake, trendy, overpriced nonsense, I'll give it five stars for being among the best in the city. I only buy the full pie for my family, and they have been rock solid consistent over at least a dozen visits. I do think the prices are a bit high, but not insanely high like some of their competition. Also, service is hit or miss, some of the staff are friendly, which I always am and appreciate, while others give cold vibes. read more
