Last September, we came to JOEY at Sherway Gardens to send our two co-op students on their merry way back to university. Our team had to vote between two restaurant choices. This one won by a convincing margin! I made reservations over the phone. The person said that she would send me a photo by e-mail of the exact table where we would be seated. I was impressed! You also got an e-mail reminder about you reservation. We were a group of eight. We got there, I gave the hostess my name, and we were led to the table. Yes, it looked exactly like the photo! Both co-op students ordered the filet mignon that came with grilled zucchini, crispy mashed potatoes, and blue cheese butter. Everything looked so good that one of them let me take a photo of it. It helps that we are all foodies. I went with the miso ramen. It was so good! It tasted authentic. There is a lot of variety on the menu. I think that it would appease even the pickiest person. The two students had indicated that they were going back to school to our server. All three of us ordered the molten lava cake that came with vanilla bean ice cream and raspberries. Their plates had raspberry and chocolate sauce that said good luck. It was a nice touch. The molten lava cake was delicious. It is probably one of the best lava cakes that I have sampled in years. The washrooms are on the top floor, which means that you have to climb a set of stairs to get there. I saw a couple of folks in their sixties slowly make the ascent. I don't know whether there are elevators for accessibility. I hope so! It was a wonderful farewell for them and an excellent lunch had by all. (32) read more

This Joey is located on the north side of Sherway Gardens close to the Williams Sonoma side of the mall. The north side of Sherway has been renovated before the south side which includes the Nordstrom area of the mall where the food court used to be. This north side now includes 3 large chain restaurants which are the Keg and Cactus Club Café which are across from one another near the central parking structure on the north west side of the mall and this Joey location which is not far from the valet parking section on the north side. These large chain restaurants on a weekend evening are very busy. Take into account that this was the 2nd last weekend before Christmas and it's easy to understand why the mall and these places would be extremely busy. I have fond memories of the Cactus Club so we decided to try them first. The hostess told me there was no promise time as there were 48 other parties ahead of us. The Keg had a queue of over an hour. We walked to Joey and the wait was only about 30 minutes. I mean don't get me wrong, the place was also packed but my wife said she wanted to pop into Williams Sonoma which was close by so I thought this is doable. I was able to put our names in the queue and be notified via text. I like that feature because it gives you a chance to go into the mall and not have to wait in the rather limited waiting area and come back when they say the table is ready. The waiting area has a bench that can perhaps seat 6 people. Beyond that the area is cramped with a revolving door that can't be blocked. I decided to go to the bar for a beer to wait for my wife and our friend. The bar was busy as well but I did manage to grab a seat. While it seemed there were 3 bartenders taking care of the entire bar it was busy but the closest one to me seemed to be preoccupied discussing something with two other patrons. Eventually I was able to order a drink before I ended up sitting. Just over 30 minutes and I received the text that the table was ready. We were seated in a booth next to the bar while there were 3 of us. The booth is nice and comfortable and probably could have seated 5 max. We started with drinks and ordered some apps while our server Jennifer all poured water for us as well. For us I had ordered the gyoza, rainbow roll and calamari. I like the fact that there's a handful of options for starters which are all large enough for sharing and while we had 3 starters there were the three of us to share. I really liked all 3 apps. For a place that doesn't specialize in sushi rolls this one was really good and I liked the presentation of each. While I had ended up going with a medium NY strip with peppercorn sauce both my wife and friend ended up ordering the steak frites. The steak was a decent size but what made the starch different was the fact that they made the mashed potatoes into spring rolls and covered them with the loaded baked potato fixings (chives, cheese, bacon, etc). They included some asparagus spears as well. Cutting into the steak it may have been a bit closer to medium well but I didn't mind. I liked the peppercorn they included but the plate looked a bit stark. Really though I didn't finish the plate so it's not like it wasn't enough food. The portion was deceivingly sufficient so I shouldn't have let the real estate on the plate fool me. Our server Jennifer was very attentive and checked in regularly but gave us enough time between check ins to not be disturbing our converations. For dessert we decided to share the doughnuts and I have to say they were nice, fluffy and light. The mascarpone was a nice way to add richness to the flavor and it really worked well. So even though Joey may not have been our first choice for dinner at Sherway it wasn't a disappointment. I really liked the ambiance, service and choices on the menu. The menu does have an Asian fusion thing but not the entire menu. It's almost as if it's a chain menu with Asian options on the side which does add a bit of variety on top of just steak. Joeys is one of my favourite restaurants. It was my first time coming to the Sherway location. Went on a Saturday night. My friends and I were able to get a table right away. This location is really nice and spacious. There was also a live DJ. I usually get the pesto or tandoori flat bread when I go. Both are just amazing. The pesto flat bread has shrimp, sun dried tomato's and chipotle sauce on it. The tandoori flat bread has red onion, cilantro and yogurt on it. If your vegetarian you can substitute the chicken/shrimp for tofu. For starters, I usually get the lecture wraps or the mushroom soup. The soup is really creamy and rich. The lecture wraps come with the filling on the side. The filling consists of vegetables and crispy noodles. Definitely one of the best lecture wraps I've had. This time I decided to try something new got the ravioli with lobster cream. It was just WOW. So amazing! But the portion size was a bit small. So if your really hungry would recommend ordering a side with it. read more

This was my favorite place in Toronto during my 4 days visit. The menu is very interesting and diverse. We had the Lettuce Wraps, Tandoori Chicken Flat Bread and the Sealed Tuna Salad, all of the dishes were fresh and delicious. We also tried the red sangria, very nice, cold and refreshing. The price was adequate for a party of 3, around $120 including the sangrias; a good price/quality balance. The ambiance was also great, nice decoration and service. Totally recommend. read more

Server was late, We ordered to two different people, drinks were really late (how long does it take to pour two glasses of wine?) and it took a while to take our order for food. I have only ever been to Joey Eatons (downtown Toronto) before and I love it. I have done 2 large group bookings there and it was planned perfectly by the staff. The Sherway location was my first time and it maintains the same great quality food and service as its other location. My friend and I shared an order of sweet potato fries and shrimp/lobster ravioli. The pasta was DELICIOUS! If nobody was looking I would have (definitely) licked my plate clean (kidding, but seriously). Perfectly cooked pasta and a flavourful sauce- its a no brainer. The restaurant itself is HUGE. There was an upstairs but we did not go up. A DJ was playing music but this may be because it was Halloween weekend. I am not sure if there is always a DJ there. My go-to dish is always the Katsu salad but the ravioli may be a new contender. Both are amazing dishes to try! If you are in the area, definitely check out Joeys! read more

Menu seemed seafood forward which was not expected but really like the healthier options on the menu and the staff and atmosphere are very welcoming, even when seated with a stroller. Service staff is very polite and seem genuinely happy and professional. The vibe is light and fun and menu has proved to be very good and delivers on flavour. I've been to Joey's a couple times. First time coming to this location. Decor: 10/10 - Just like the one at Yorkdale it is really nice inside Food: Ravioli w/ Lobster cream & Grilled Prawns - 5/10. The only thing I liked was the sauce and the prawns. The ravioli lacked flavour, tasted like water (frozen ravioli, I'm assuming). The lobster in the ravioli was very minimal; very tiny lobster bits, couldn't taste lobster at all. Pricey for a dish with barely any lobster. Presentation was good. Overall, I wouldn't order this again. Came here for a Birthday dinner & champagne was served to all guests, which I thought was nice since they don't serve cake on your birthday. Joey Sherway has hit its stride. I've dined at this location twice in the last few weeks (as set forth below) and the service was exceptional. My first visit (with my family) was great, but there were 2 issues (a sink was clogged up, leading to some flooding and our dessert order was delayed). The manager, Katherine, handled our concerns promptly and professionally. Our second visit was, in a word, perfect. The service from Katherine and Sarah was top-tier, the food was delicious (we enjoyed a number of mains including a steak, the Mediterranean bowl and Sushi rolls) and the vibe was great. The setting is a mix of high-end supper club and Financial District bar. This is now one of our favourite restaurants. read more

Had to make a pit stop at joeys before the year ended and on the last Saturday of the year I ran in for my plateful of Lobster Cream ravioli which is my go to. I've had this after almost 6 months and it felt a little different from before- not bad different but not great either... I've been to many Joey's locations across the country and my favourite still has to be on the West Coast. Popped in here for dinner prior to going to the movies, it was me and 3 girls. We were seated in a timely manner as we had made reservations in advance as it was a Saturday. I had taco's for dinner and they were over cooked, soft taco's should be sitting around for the sauce to seep through and make the shell soggy. Service was okay, there were two specific times we were looking for the server, once to get a top up on water and a second to get cutlery. I'll admit that our trip to Joey Sherway didn't get off to the best start, since we checked in just before our reservation and didn't get our table for another 15 minutes or so - despite the fact that the table we did get was sitting empty the entire time. (Service was otherwise quite efficient and friendly, so I'm not sure what happened there.) Anyway, after perusing the extensive menu, I finally decided to go with The Butcher's Sandwich ("smoky jus, crispy onions, dijon, rosemary salt, Certified Angus Beef"). This is actually a far better sandwich than I was expecting. (It's certainly a cut above other chain joints like Kelsey's and Montana's.) I was a little worried when the dish first arrived to the table, as the bread looked way too crusty for my liking. But it was actually pretty perfect: it had a certain amount of crust but was mostly soft and delicious. The beef was definitely the star attraction here. It was juicy and flavorful, and even better, it never became difficult to chew (as is sometimes the case with this kind of meat). The accompanying mustard and crispy onions proved a perfect complement, and the jus was good but perhaps the weakest element in the dish (i.e. it wasn't smoky in the slightest). Joey's is always nice to visit and thanks to COVID every thought they were all full for reservations, they still had spots available for walk-ins. They're a little on the pricier side compared to other cheaper alternatives but worth it as well. They did a good job with social distancing measures and cleanliness. read more

Great hostesses! They give out free champagne while you wait. There are three seating areas: the high tops (kinda noisy by the bar), the dining room (pretty cozy chairs and normal dark dining room vibes), and the lounge upstairs (super cute closed patio vibes w string lights and green plants errywhere). We had to wait 40 mins for a table in the dining room. Food was alright. The calamari and japanese gyozas were normal. The steak frites was tiny but tasty. I got the house salad which was better than a normal regular mixed greens salad. The steak and sushi was tinier lol. I prefer my steak grilled over the tataki style. I didn't like how the rice in the torched sushi wasn't warm. Maybe I'm used to japanese styled sushi!? The Apple pie with maple ice cream was sooo tasty. Good wine and drink selection. I really liked the Louis cab sauv vs the merlot. It had more grip and body! The merlot was way too fruity and juicy for my liking hehe. Came for my actual bday with the bf because we happened to be shopping here. I didn't even realize they had a Joey's at Sherway, so I was pleasantly surprised. I do enjoy the other locations (yorkdale and shops at don mills). I felt this one was consistent. Food: Hot wings - The presentation was fine, but it would have looked more appetizing had it been on a slightly smaller plate. Chicken wings themselves were juicy and tender. Marinated with franks red hot. Came with blue cheese dressing. My personal preference would be for ranch or dill. I will ask them if these are options next time. I also wish it came with some carrot and or celery sticks. Server brought us a bowl of hot water and there expanding wet naps which I thought was cool. Filet mignon - Came with crispy mash potatoes and veggies. I always thought these "crispy mash potatoes" were a bit strange. I'd be happy with just regular mash potatoes instead of these "fancier" ones. Not comparable to going to an actual steakhouse, but the dish was still good over all. Yellowfin tuna salad - Consistent with the other locations. I love this salad. The dressing is so simple. The salad is well balanced with the perfect portion of veggies, tuna, nuts and dressing. I don't think I could get tired of having this salad. 3x Sangria - It was good, but not as good as having it during happy hour ($4.00 at happy hour, $9.00 all other times ). I also noticed that they put more fruit at the other locations (unless they stopped doing this too). The sangria at this joeys only had an orange slice and no other fruit. 1x Henderson's best - First time trying this beer. I really enjoy amber ales over all other types, so enjoyed this one thoroughly. 2x corona - The lime wedge in the second corona was too fat and was a struggle to put into the beer bottle. Service: 20 minute wait for a dinner table, we had no reservations as I don't ever plan anything for my actual bday (normally lands on a weekday). They took my phone number and told me they will text me when the table is ready. We decided to have some drinks at the bar while we waited. Luckily there were exactly 2 seats left. As we ordered some drinks, we told the bartender we were waiting for seating elsewhere. He was nice enough to give us the dinner menus to look at so we can decide what to eat while we had some drinks at the bar. He also let us know that we can settle the bill as soon as our table was ready (making a smooth transition). As we were seated at our table, we noticed it was slightly small.. Maybe I felt this way since two ppl just vacated a large booth right across from us. I felt bad for asking since our server had just seated us, but she checked with the front counter to make sure we can move and they let us without any issues. Moving seats did mean we had a new server though.. too bad because she was super sweet. Our next server did take some time to come around, but it was fine because the first girl already took our drink order. We also had some time to appreciate the brickwork and large art piece hanging in front of us. Once he finally came, the whole service went smoothly. He was a bit chatty, but I can't knock a server for being in a good mood or for actually doing their job well. My preference is to have a little more privacy, but I'm sure other ppl really enjoy this type of service. Everything came out quick enough and he made sure we always had drinks. He even brought out an extra round of drinks when we actually declined, but I don't blame him because it was really loud in there. I genuinely think he just misheard us. We also didn't bother correcting him or sending them back, so yolo. Final thoughts: I enjoy joeys over most other likewise chain restaurants. I would come back to this joeys if I happen to be in the area. The wait was not too long, food was all consistently good (with other locations) and the service was exceptional. Heard a great deal about this place and I was hoping the hype was real and not just smoke. After trying it out, this place is excellent for meet ups, lunches and dinner. Tonight was our anniversary and we decided to hit up Joeys, even though we were here two weeks ago, tonight the staff hit it out of the park. Tonight we were served by Jonita and she was amazing, she was so hospitable she made us feel right at home. When she found out it was our anniversary, she took it upon herself to bring us two glasses of Prosecco - twice! Our dinner was also exceptional as I had the New York strip lion, that was cooked to my liking. The side dish of deep fried mashed potatoes was orgasmic!!! Well done. I've always wanted to check out JOEY and finally had the chance. Upon entering I noticed right away the staircase. The decor is very trendy and gives a nice upscale welcome. I sat in the bar area and had a gin and tonic and my friend had the Bellini. Both were pretty good. The service was a bit lacklustre. We waited longer than usual. The waitress explained that she had 9 tables and they just cut a server. We were understanding but the manager should have planned better. For food I tried the yam fries. The sauce that came with the fries was I incredible. I could drink an entire cup full. The crowd was mixed in the bar area. It was disappointing that the only bathroom was upstairs. When wearing heels it's not very comfortable or convenient climbing 2 flights of a stairs when you have to "powder your nose." It did give me a chance to see the upstairs dining area which was nice but a bathroom on the main floor would have been better. The restaurant was half full but they made us wait 10 minutes , even though we had a reservation. Then they tried to put us at the bar; even though there were three empty tables right in front of us.
