Ordered an alfredo pasta and it was very very bland and there was an ingredient missing from my dish. Told the server, but they didn't care. Ordered GF. My salad had croutons.. no problem I just alerted my waitress so she could get a new one. When I got into the new salad there were croutons underneath on the bottom of the bowl. I just wanted to cry knowing what the consequences of this would mean. at this point I was assuming they may have picked the croutons off of the original salad. Then when the mail meal came the GF noodles were barely cooked. I was fed up and called the manager over. Her solution was to offer me dessert. REALY!?! Like I want to try eating something else?!? They should never have assured me they could accommodate my allergy before I took a seat. I had other options and should have walked out after the salad. The food that my husband and I had was delicious! Very fresh ingredients and everything had flavor. We had their fresh bread, caesar salad, which tasted like the dressing was homemade, fried calamari, which was very soft, not super chewy, and not over breaded, cheese ravioli with this very very fresh basil, and my husband had the margarita calzone with again fresh ingredients. For desert we had the chocolate lava cake which was yummy. Our service was fast, the restaurant was clean, and our waiter was super friendly and funny. I have to say this is the worst experience I have had in Idaho Falls ID dinning out. I orderd off menu then they came back and said not available to order. While that took place I ordered from the most limited bar in town a Malibu and Coke. After 30 minutes of waiting I asked the manager where my drink was and he said " we are out of Malibu" continued to make a joke that he could get me one tomorrow. NOT SO FUNNY when I'm paying a bill for six people to dine and drink with appetizers. This is the worst of the worst for service. I am so disappointed that I'm ready to walk away. I can say that there will never be a Johnny Carionos that receives a dollar of my money again. This is a guarantee. Stay away from this restaurant. I had never been to a Carino's before moving to Idaho, but I decided to go after reading decent reviews. I wanted to try something other than the Olive Garden's unlimited lunch special. Carino's has a similar lunch special which includes unlimited soup, salad, and bread. I actually like the salad better than the Olive Garden because you get to choose between a House or Ceasar salad. The soup may be a bit better at the Olive Garden. However, the bread here is much better! It is a rosemary bread that you get to dip in Olive oil. Carino's has a Pasta Points program where you can get points everytime you dine. You also get 50 points just for signing up (You need to get 100 to get a $10 gift card). Service was so-so, our waiter was distracted and left no plates with the bread, then went to find cheese to grate on our meals, and by the time he returned, we were drooling and our food was cooling. Once properly cheesed, I dug into my spaghetti and meatballs, only to find it so bland that it tasted like raw noodles and plain ground beef. The slide at Carino's seems to continue. I ordered the Italian Nachos for pickup, and could hardly believe it when I got home. I don't know if they've cut the alfredo from the recipe, or if they simply forgot it. But I could clearly see that I was looking at 25% less ingredients on it from the pepperoncini, to the jalepenos, to the chicken, etc. The result was dry/tasteless fried wonton wrappers in an aluminum plate. This has always been a great place. It could have been a four-star place indefinently if the management had simply kept it on auto-pilot. The slide in quality at Carino's is inexcusable. read more

Let me first start by saying that you will be tempted to eat here because while everything else that is good in town has a long wait, Carino's will almost always be ready to seat you immediately or within minutes. There's a reason why, folks. We went here for my wife's birthday because the Olive Garden had an hour and a half wait. Bummed and wanting Italian, we were cruising around town getting ready to head towards the Texas Roadhouse, when we remembered Johnny Carino's. Having never eaten here, we decided to give it a try. What a terrible mistake. The atmosphere right as you walk in is just strange. You are instantly greeted by a bunch of local teenagers working at the restaurant and music that only they would have the mind to play in a sit down restaurant. The wait wasn't long, but after eating there I can understand why. The food was atrocious. My soup came from a can. I know because I could taste the aluminum. The bowl was also piping hot while the soup lukewarm, indicating that it had been microwaved. The Italian Nachos were interesting and probably the highlight of the night. My chicken alfredo was so disgusting, I took about four bites and had to stop. Have you ever had italian food made from those McCormick packets you our over noodles? Imagine that with pre-grilled frozen chicken from Wal-Mart mixed in and you have yourself a meal from Johnny Carino's. This atmosphere sucks, the service is poor, and the food is disgusting. I am beyond disappointed with our service tonight. Our waitress was irritated we only ordered appitizers.. doesnt matter if i am ordering an appitizer or dessert.. i will still give a good tip. I loved my chicken bow tie pasta dish, my husband raved about his calzone and the fresh baked French bread? Warm and yummy!! We would and have been return customers! It was a terrible experience. We ordered a 35$ family platter and when we got home we opened it and there was barely enough for one person. We called and they said to come back and we could talk to a manager. When we got there they were rude and literally rolled their eyes when we asked to see the manager. The manager was too busy. Then the cook came over and looked put out he had to make a bit more noodles to feed more than one person. All customer service was terrible, unfortunately. We made a family promise to not go back again. It wouldn't have been too bad, if they could have just said sure, let us make it right, and not argue with us and make us feel bad and roll their eyes. read more

Really enjoyed the spicy shrimp and chicken dish. Second time we went the dish was literally twice as small as first time around. Place was extremely noisy which made it hard to enjoy. Good news is my wife now makes the shrimp dish even better than Carinos. Won't be back. read more

ONLY GO TO JOHNNY CARINO'S IF YOU WANT AN AWFUL EXPERIENCE. We were there to celebrate our friends birthday and it was the most awful experience I have ever had at any restaurant. When we first got there one of the waitresses said that they were understaffed so we expected a bit of a wait for our food but we were not prepared for what was to come. After a while of being there we finally got to order, and then after ordering we had to wait an hour for our food to come out and we sere still missing our gluten free pizza plus most of our food was cold when it was brought out. They also got my friends order wrong but because she didn't want to eat another hour for her food took what they had made.They were frantically trying to figure out where the pizza was and when they finally brought it out we had them bring it out in a to-go box because everyone was already done. They brought it out and we asked for our checks but they insisted we take a free dessert which ended up being a lava cake that was also ice cold. After we had finished out desserts a bus boy came out with pizza that was actually the gluten free pizza. THEY SERVED MY FRIEND WITH CELIAC'S A PIZZA WITH GLUTEN IN IT. She was already skeptical of the first pizza she received but was assured that it was gluten free so she ate a slice. Because of this huge mistake my friend was violently ill. Mistakes like this are huge. For obvious reasons we will never be back to Johnny Carino's. I wish I could give zero stars. read more

I used to absolutely love going to Johnny Carino's and have been there countless times since it has come to Idaho Falls, but lately I feel like the service and overall experience has gone downhill. The menu keeps shrinking and things that I used to get all the time are no longer offered. I understand not wanting a huge menu and wasting food that goes unordered. However, the spicy calimari salad was a great lunch option for those not wanting a heavy meal and now it is gone. You serve salad and you serve calimari, but not together anymore? I know that it is up to the people on the corporate level to make those decisions, and maybe it wasn't even that popular, but that is not the only thing that has been taken off the menu and it is a little disappointing. Also I have to agree with another poster that the atmosphere has gotten a little strange. The music is all over the place, the wait staff are not as friendly and efficient as they used to be, it seems a little chaotic and messy even when it is slow, and the last couple times I have gone the food wasn't that great. The caesar salad was soggy and the some of the lettuce was brown. I had the artichoke linguine with chicken and it was very bland. To be fair I do love the bread, italian nachos, and my husband tried the smoked chicken and jalapeno ravioli the last time we were there and it was very good. I don't usually write reviews but I am today in the hopes that a manager reads it and can see what your frequent customers are thinking. I used to feel like it was great every time now only so so. I just ate at Johnny Carino's. It was a disappointment. We had a large combo nachos. The chips had a funny flavor and were kind of greasy but at least they were hot. The alfredo sauce on them was cold. There was a total of three pieces of chicken on them. We cut the three pieces of chicken up and spread it around. Their bread is not my favorite either. Then we had the skillitini combo. The chicken had no flavor and the peppers were hard, a little undercooked. There was one chunck of onion in it. The waiter took forever even though there were hardly any people in the restaurant. Also the restaurant was freezing and I am always hot. When they first opened in Idaho Falls it was delicious but it definitely has gone downhill. I will not go back for a long time. read more

I would give 0 stars if possible. We went Saturday night and were seated right away. The waitress asked if we wanted drinks, my husband asked about appetizers and she suggested mozzarella sticks. They were ok. our drinks had ice in them but the 2 waters, lemonade and coke were all warm. Make the drinks last, refills (even water) have to asked for and reminded before being grudgingly given. We ordered, they used to have unlimited soup or salad with your meal now if you want soup instead of salad it is 3.99 more and none of it is unlimited. We waited quite a while for our food and when it came it was cold. The steak I ordered med rare was super well done but no one asked if everything was ok. It was not worth having them do it right; I didn't want to wait while everyone else ate. I took it home for the cat. The box was tossed on the table. We wanted dessert to go; she guessed she could do that- all we asked for was a piece of cake in a box. Food was over priced, over cooked, under flavored, and small portions. Husband's rosemary lemon chicken tasted like oil not lemon or rosemary. Fettuccini was over cooked and cold. I think the seafood pasta was ok. I agree with Tom C. This place is DISGUSTING-If the Health Dept. saw what I saw, they would close it. I was seated one table away from the Host who watches for customers while he wraps silverware in folded napkins. When customers arrive,he gets up, goes to greet them, grabs some menus from the holder on the wall, seats them at a table then comes back to wrap more silver ware. At one point a fellow hostess dropped a menu on the floor, the wrapper host picked it up,put it with the others & went back to wrapping silverware. As he's waiting for customers he stands up, tucks in his shirt down the back of his pants, sits down, rubs his hands across his hair, & wraps some more silverware. He disappeared a couple times..maybe to the bathroom. Here's the SICKENING part ..he's PICKING UP the forks, knifes & spoons BY THE TINES, BLADE & SPOON ends,NOT THE HANDLES, AND, he's NOT WEARING GLOVES-(nor did I see a bottle of Purell anywhere)...I doubt you would even see this in a truck stop cafe.. by now I've lost my appetite. The food was way salty, no vegetables, my coffee was delivered luke warm, I was never offered a warm-up. The waiter was pleasant but lacked experience. Atmosphere, COLD, ate with my coat on the entire time, & the music? so damn loud you couldn't visit with the person next to you. I can't see what keeps 'em open. WHAT A WASTE OF GOOD MONEY.
