We like the food; however, our visit today was very uncomfortable due to the smoke and heat in the restaurant. High above the counter where you place your order you can see multiple vents. Some are larger than others, clearly, they do not work. No air conditioning no smoke ventilation at all. The smoke rises from the grill up to the height of the vents, but ceiling fans pull it out into the restaurant. Again, we like the food, but the smoke is very thick and unhealthy. Please fix your ventilation and air conditioning for your customers and your workers. read more

It is a nice diner, but needs a little more customer service. This place has not just burgers but also they have a wide variety of menu including full breakfast, full dinner menu and also various different sandwiches. They have really good vegetarian menu as well. And its not just burgers, they have a lot of different dishes. But, overall the vegetarian menu is pretty good. Now talking about their regular menu, its huge and has a lot of variety. Their gravy is to die for. Their country fried steak is very good and tender. I was a meat eater before and I am not gonna say that I won't eat meat ever, hence I always try different dishes (meat or n meat). And I have tried their steaks and other meat dishes and they are pretty good. Their fries are good and always make sure to tell them to make them extra crispy. Again, these mom and pop restaurants always are lacking of customer service. This diner is no different, they need to definitely work on their customer service and they will get more customers. Noticed this burger joint literally always has a line for their drive through so my bf and I decided to come give it a try and to also support local businesses. It's pretty much an average burger place and can satisfy your burger needs. The burger itself was okay and had a charcoal grilled taste to it but that's about it. Not so amazing or unique that would make me want to return again. read more

This is one of the best overall food spots. There's a drive thru, prices are decent, customer service is great, and the food is appetizing and filling. Granted, I've only had the veggie burger and fries but my friends and a whole lot of other university students in the area love Johnny's burgers. I can only honestly speak to the veggie burger but the hamburger patty is thin and looks juicy. The burgers are filling so expect to get full and barely be able to finish the fries assuming you ordered that too because I definitely recommend it. I like the fries here more than most franchises. It's just not the same... aside from the decor not being as fun as it used to be, the quality has gone out the door. For over 10 years I have been a patron to this specific Jonny's Burgers and a good portion of my life I regularly ate at the location on Madison. As I sat waiting for my oatmeal to be finished, I listened to multiple customer voice concern about not only the quality of what they ordered but also when their food was coming out (they must have been waiting a very long time...). When I placed my order I specifically asked if they still served brewed ice tea. He advised that they do so I purchased a large drink. When I went to go look for the tea, it was no where to be found. I asked the cashier where it was and he walked me over to the button of fountain drink ice tea. I was without words in disappointment. My oatmeal eventually came out 20 minutes later. Which was a little confusing because it mainly milk with a TINY amount of oatmeal. I waited for the oats to absorb the milk but that never happened. You don't come to Johnnys Burger because you want the Hollywood treatment. You visit because you want a good burger or meal at a valued price. This burger joint has been around for as long as I can remember, really good food when you are in a hurry or just want to hang. My go to is usually the Johnny Riverside Special, just the perfect mix of burger patty, pastrami and some peppers for flair. This trip we ordered a Country Fried Steak Dinner, as well as the Steak Dinner with a side of Chicken Strips with Ranch. Again, keeping in mind that this isn't some Michelin rated restaurant, the food wasn't that bad of a deal. Unfortunately the Chicken Strips were over fried, but the Ranch sauce was more then ample for the side order. The Steak Dinner was on par for a diner, which is what I like to compare Johnnys Burger to. The Country Fried Steak Dinner was also on par with a diner, although they served it with more then enough gravy, which isn't as much a complaint for most. The restaurant itself is a bit dated but well kept. The single pane windows does make it noticeably warm on hot California days, but the outside shade is a treat during the Fall! Come check out Johnnys Burger if you are in the La Sierra area, I don't think most people will be disappointed. read more

So disappointed today.. We are frequent customers here only because I always bug my honey to take me. I love this place because of the fried Zucchini.. It's usually fresh. Girl that took our order at the drive thru got both of our burgers wrong today. Neither of them had cheese and they left out the avocado for mine. I been coming to Johnny's for years! The food is great and the price is even better, so you get high value. I usually get the Cheeseburger combo with Fries and a Diet Coke. 2 stars for bad service. We're dealing with a food allergy and they can't have sesame buns. Johhny's offers brioche(no sesame) on some of their sandwiches so I asked if we could switch the sesame bun for brioche on 1 of the cheeseburgers. We were told no. It's available but they were unwilling to switch the buns. I even offered to pay an upcharge but they said we should just order a Jr. Cheeseburger. Personally I think Johnny's burger is a hidden gem. I've had nothing but good experiences there, and the food is top notch. They have a huge menu with lots of options, but the old standby is a greasy grilled cheese and some of the best onion rings I've ever had. If you've ever been craving a mountain on onion rings with the best ranch you've ever had, Johnny's delivers. It's comfort food at its finest and hits the spot. I will say I've never eaten inside the restaurant, as the drive through is quick and easy to go through. It does look a little run down, but don't let the outside scare you. I got hooked on the food at Johhny's about two months ago. I don't have a complaint about the food. But there's a problem with the service and getting the orders correct. At first, I'd get home, notice the error, and just let it go. Everyone makes mistakes. But after it continued to happen, I started going back with my food (and wasting gas in the process) to get the order corrected. After the long wait (and wait times are extreme at this place) that's a major inconvenience. In fact, to combat the problem, I made a point of carefully inspecting the orders before I pulled away. It became a necessity. Drinks were a major issue. I'd be halfway home and discover it was the wrong drink. Today, though, I'm disturbed. I ordered a large root beer, started sipping it on the way home and there was something soapy to the taste. Then it started to burn the top of my throat.
