There is nothing I dislike more than having such an awful experience with a business that I feel I absolutely MUST leave a negative review and share what happened with the world, but here we are. Up until today I was a loyal client of Johnny's for more than 2 years. I bring my dog in regularly, 1-2 times a month. After today, I will never bring my dog back. I'm not sure what's happened recently for such a drastic change in how this business is run, but I absolutely WOULD NOT recommend bringing your pet here. I have 2 close friends who have become regular clients here based on my recommendation, and they will not be bringing their pets back anymore either. Here's a list of how Johnny's failed at every possible opportunity during my very last transaction with them today: 1. I left voicemails & sent booking requests through the website for almost 2 weeks and never received a call back at all, despite receiving texts saying I would. I finally drove there, and scheduled this grooming appointment in person. First availability was 5 days later. Fine. 2. Arrived to drop my dog off when they're supposed to open at 8:30AM on the appointment day, giving myself more than enough time to make it to work by 9:00AM. After waiting 15 minutes and no one showing up to open the business by 8:30AM as posted in their business hours, I had to take my dog home, and as a result, show up 20 minutes late for work because of the whole ordeal. SO NOT OKAY. 3. My husband took off work to bring our dog back once they opened. After 4 hours of not hearing from them past her appointment time, he called multiple times and no one would answer the phone. He drove there to find out that after having dropped her off 4.5 hours earlier, she still hadn't been groomed. 4. See photos to find out what my dog looked like when we picked her up this time compared to what she normally looks like after being groomed at Johnny's. The photos speak for themselves. It's terrible. I don't know what's going on here. There obviously are staffing issues, and as a result customer service & quality has gone straight out the window. My patience and trust in this business has completed evaporated because of this experience. Years of a loyal business relationship has been completely overshadowed by the multitude of failures I was subjected to within this single experience. I encourage anyone who reads this to heavily consider my review before trusting this business with your beloved pet and hard-earned money. Edited to reply to the owner's response: I arrived at 8:30 AM because when I scheduled the appointment, I also scheduled to bring her in at 8:30AM as I literally do every single time I bring my dog in, because I do it on my way to work. Nice try trying to cover it up, but no one need buy the BS you're trying to sell. Also, I would never trust your business to touch my dog again, but if I did, exactly how would you fix shaving my dog's hair off? Give me a break. read more

First time going to Johnny's Doghouse Pet Grooming, but not the first time with our groomer Brenton. He's amazing, my little guy is always so happy when he comes home after seeing Brenton and now he can socialize a bit because there's so much room for him to walk around and see other dogs. There's a little spa menu to chose from and also doggie day care for him at such a reasonable price. When you find a quality, attentive groomer you follow them and that's what we did!! read more

Just had to share how great our experience was at Johnny's Doghouse in Gilbert was! My girl has never looked better and she had a blast spending the day there. She was so excited to see me when I picked her up, but don't get me wrong she looked like she was in the middle of playing and having fun. It was the first time I've dropped her off for a groom and left her somewhere all day and she did great Definitely recommend! Vicente did her cut exactly the way I wanted and identical to the wish pics I showed him. Doodles are a challenge and he rocked it. We will definitely be back and pricing was reasonable. read more

Just moved to Chandler and we were looking for a groomer for our dogs! I checked out the reviews and they all had positive things to say. That brought comfort to me. Vicente is who groomed our two dogs ( a poodle and a schnauzer) Our schnauzer is older and I was told that he does not do so well at the groomers. I did not have the pleasure of meeting Vicente, but from what my husband told me he was very kind and patient with our schnauzer. I'm very happy with the result of both of our dogs. So here's the deal...I really want to like this place. It's close to me, availability has been good the two times I have scheduled, and the prices are reasonable. But this second visit was kind of a mess. Initial appt was scheduled and then day of needed to be rescheduled due to staffing issues (this happens and can't always be controlled by the biz ‍), appreciated the call and reschedule for next day. I dropped off my dog at the scheduled time and explained that I wanted it shorter around her face. She said ok, it will be a couple hours and we will call you when she's done. Hadn't received a call by closing, 5 hours later so I called to check and they said they were working on her and would be done if 15-20 min. Got there before they finished and paid while I waited (including the tip) and when they brought her out, she definitely had shorter hair around her face, but they also SHAVED her body! I didn't even have the time to respond and deal with it in the moment because I had to get to another appointment, but seriously...who shaves a dog without confirming that is what the owner wants? At the end of the day, I know her hair will grow back but she and I were both unhappy with the outcome. read more

Johnny's is amazing! My dog absolutely loves going to when she gets to visit. She gets excited when we pull up and she realizes where she is and she can't wait to get inside and play with all the other dogs. We have used them for overnight boarding and for just day visits since she is young and we don't want to leave her home for too long alone. We are picky about where and who we leave our baby with but they make us feel comfortable in knowing she is being cared for well. RESPONSE: Johnny's Doghouse: I have never received an email. There have been more than one price increase (and I have discussed with Johnny after the charges on two of those increases) and you still do not provide pricing upon drop-off. So odd that in three years I have never seen the same groomer or front desk staff (20+ visits, what are the odds?). Boomer's haircut was a complete hack job (uneven around his face and not blended) and they cut him too short this last visit. This isn't just $30. Two years ago I paid $115 for three dogs. I was asked to pay $265 last week. I said no way! Then the front desk staff said $215. I said no way! I was told $185 was the lowest she could go. So I paid $185. $150 more for poor quality and terrible service, no thank you. I wish you all the best. I have been taking my three dogs to Johnny's Doghouse since 2017 (when it was called Alo's Doghouse). Alo's was absolutely fantastic! When new management arrived, the quality of care, customer service, communication, and value has plummeted. There are new people (receptionist, groomers) every visit; I don't think they can retain staff or groomers. Their groomers are nowhere near the talent of the original groomers at Alo's (i.e. Vicente was amazing!). They have increased their prices five times since taking ownership (and the value and quality has gone down tremendously) AND they never communicate the price increases. Today, they are now charging for every single service separately that I used to receive as a package, nothing is included in my pup's service now (ear cleaning, nail trims, bath, cut, anal gland expression, etc) is all charged separately now. Again, no communication of this change upon drop-off or email communications. My dogs used to be provided a caring experience that wasn't rushed; it was always a four-hour visit for my three dogs. The visits are now less than two hours and the quality of the cut and nail trim has clearly diminished. The service is clearly rushed and there is no care or pampering for the dogs like we used to receive. I will not be a customer of Johnny's Doghouse anymore. read more

I am simply updating my review now to a 1-star review because the owner is a liar and it really speaks volumes to the kind of business man he is. Wife never agreed to any bs matting fee until you told her it was required to pay. What was she going to do? Not pay you? What a pathetic and lousy way to conduct business. Just tact on random fees after the service is done. I hope you used that extra $20 for something special- you seem like you need it. -- We have been supporting Johnny's ever since they transitioned from Alo's. Our Himalayan cat is a nuisance so it's not easy cutting him. My wife took him in today and they did a great job. However, COVID must've really taken Johnny for a ride because they took advantage of us horribly. Firstly, a $20 matting fee? This is the first time we have ever been charged something like this. And this cat has had TERRIBLE matting before. I mean bad. So, that's absurd. Secondly, the total came to $117!!!! ONE HUNDRED AND A SEVENTEEN. Yes, you read that correctly. They charged me over a bill to groom a 12 pound cat. The haircut took them a mere 30 minutes. No nail cutting, no bath, a SIMPLE HAIRCUT for $117. I was bent over backward and robbed. But they atleast gave me the decency to give my wallet back to me after taking all my money. This is the final time we will ever be taking our animals to this groomer. I hope the $50+ upcharge was worth losing a very loyal client. read more

I received a call from The owner of Johnny's Doghouse. who noted they were still using the same collar restraints that choked my Westy. He said he had never heard of the restraint my current pet groomer uses. it goes under the armpit of the dog rather than the neck for all the reasons i mentioned. he said he'd look into it and thanked me for taking his call. i was very impressed with his positive attitude and would give them a chance if they have made those restraint changes. read more

This place is the best place I have found for grooming. My big guy gets groomed and was having dry skin issues. They recommended a mud bath for him and he comes home with no dandruff! They do a deshed on him as well which really helps with the hair in the house. read more

I wanted an experienced shop to take care of my baby. I got exactly what I wanted. My Shih Tzu has really bad separation anxiety but they took care of her as if she was their own. Her haircut was perfectly done and they even have a play area for the dogs that are waiting to be picked up, Destiny loved it. Terrible experience! Was recommended this company by a neighbor who has a small breed dog. I have two large dogs and take them to get groomed regularly and wanted to try a smaller business instead of a corporation. I reached out to the company to get a quote and was advised for my dog breed-size they charge between 120-150. I asked if it would be more than 150 or if that was the max expected, as I currently pay 120/each. They asked me to send pictures and dogs weight, I sent them both as requested and they advised me that they would honor the 120 each and we then scheduled. I drove 40 min away (which is not an easy thing with two large dogs) get to the facility and instantly greeted with a disgusted look the minute we walked through the door. The two men at the counter asked what we wanted done, we explained and showed a few pictures. The one man (I believe the groomer) looked at the front desk guy and was giving him a look, which I could see! I already knew at this point I should have already said Nevermind but we were already there, they said okay we will call you when ready. Left the facility and got a call 3 min later stating regardless what we were told they need to charge us more. I then just went with my gut feeling and picked our dogs up. It was very poor customer service. First being greeted the way we were, the looks, then not honoring what was stated previously, all was unacceptable! read more

They are fantastic and Shawn is the best. He will greet you when you come in. He is so good with the dogs. Lola is a regular there and goes a couple times a week just to socialize and work off some energy. I also have her groomed there and they do a great job. So my appointment got forgotten because I made it via email and the staff on duty didn't know I was coming which made me a little nervous at first. But they still honored my appointment time. I have a short haired dog, so the appointment itself didn't take long at all. All the dogs there looked happy as can be and when I picked up my dog she was in good spirits, happy, and smelled good and trimmed perfectly. Toenails cut to a great length, the only reason it's not 5 stars is because of the scheduling confusion. Overall I would recommend, but maybe schedule on the phone. read more
