Although Johnny may be new to the Forest, he's doing a great job and training a green staff. Food is very good! The pizza is nearly just like Jersey pizza. (The crust is different than home.) Nonetheless delicious! I had the Penna a la Vodka with sun-dried tomatoes and grilled chicken the other night and it was amazing! CrEven better the next day since their portion size is very generous I had plenty to take home for lunch the next day. Even the side of bread that comes with the pasta is literally off the hook delicious! Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. I was sad I had to share it with my husband it was that good. I have a child with a heavy gluten allergy, and I was pleased and surprised to find out that they make their gluten pizzas in a separate oven with a crust that already comes prepared to reduce cross-contamination. My son said it was some of the best GF pizza he has ever had. The regular pizza is also very good. The service was somewhat slow but I am going to give them a pass on that considering they are fairly new and because one of my pizzas was specially made. Enjoyed a large NY style pizza and wings while visiting the area. We got curbside take out. The order came out hot and well packaged. The pizza was large, really yummy and a good foldable slice. The crust was quite good too! The meat lovers was overloaded with different meats and the margherita pizza was also well topped and very tasty. It was the favorite out of the two. Fantastic authentic pizza! The crust was stretchy and soft without a lot of flavor, and sauce had just the right kick to it. The cheese was high quality and the options were amazing. My only beef? So there I was, camping outside the door like it's Black Friday waiting for this location to open. Not really, but I was desperate. Many times we have gone to the Cary location and brought it home (Youngsville). Their salads are the bomb and the pizza is great. I'm very impressed with the dedication to customer service. Between the food, the service, and enthusiasm. I'd be hard pressed to go anywhere else. The pepperoni bombs were a unique dipping appetizers. And the garlic knots, oh those knots. I have been in love with this place since they opened up but the pizza I received last night was worse than Little Cesar's quality, worse than cheap frozen pizza. Buffalo shrimp great as usual, chicken wings, my first and last time ordering, not very flavorful. But I always count on the pizza being as close to real NY quality, we usually order every week but Idk when and if I will order again. Even my son who tolerates Little Cesar's said it was not good. I could not finish half a slice. Idk if its a new cook or off night but we usually or 1 or 2 times a week. I wish places would maintain the same quality they had when opened. But it cost too much money for on and off consistency! My husband wanted to try this place again because we have not gotten anything since my last review, I said NO but he insisted. Well believe it or not the food has gotten worse. There was a slash of buffalo sauce on the shrimp but they were better than the pizza. The pizza contained imitation mozzarella. I could not finish the first slice, my husband could not either. He had ordered 2 large pizzas for movie night they both went in the trash. Once again money was wasted $56. I've eaten here three times in the past two months once I discovered they had gluten free pizza. I was so happy I could enjoy pizza again. The past two times I had no issues and everything was right however, this time when I went to pick up my pizza (one of them being gluten free for me) they looked puzzled. I placed everything online so it was very clearly stated and picked online as "gluten free". The girl upfront looks at another guy and goes "oh that's my bad" and they're like "it wasn't made gluten free so we have to remake it". No apologies or anything. He asked if I wanted the regular one and obviously since I can't eat it I said no. I waited another twenty minutes for my new gluten free pizza to be made right. I had to ask for ranch that comes with the buffalo chicken since they forgot that too and got no apologizes for the error at all. If you mess up say you're sorry it's not that hard. They looked at me like I was the one with the issue. After having to wait so long for this pizza to be made right the other pizza for my family members was cold and they said it wasn't good. Not sure if it's worth it to even come back. Crappy service ruins everything else. read more

I always like to try out new restaurants by myself first, especially if they have great ratings. So Saturday night I headed out from Rolesville to north of Wake Forest to try Johnny's, since people seem to talk them up so much on Yelp. I like to go a little after the dinner rush, to see what service is like when they have time to attend to it. So as they close at ten, I got there at about 8:45 pm. The place was nearly empty, a big open room with booths along both walls, bright glaring lights and a batch of TVs all above nine feet up, with no sound from any of them. Nor was there any music playing. There was a fair amount of staff around, and virtually all were busy breaking down for the night. I sat down at a table and was ignored for about 8 or nine minutes, until I figured out that there was no table service, you have to go up and order at the counter. A kid I figured for the Assistant Manager who had been watching me wait sheepishly said, "Yeah, I was about to come tell you you have to order up here." (I almost replied, "well, almost thank you", but reconsidered.) Perhaps a sign somewhere near the door telling people that all those seats didn't really mean there were any waiters, as they might be expecting. So faced with a fairly huge menu stuck up on the wall behind him, and time ticking away, I decided to just order what I wanted rather than than stand there blocking the counter for ten minutes. I just wanted a medium NY style pizza with four ingredients (Pepperoni,mushrooms, fresh garlic, and anchovies), and a fountain drink. "Oh, we don't have anchovies", came the reply. Which was disappointing, what kind of NY style pizza place doesn't have anchovies? "Allright, give me black olives instead." "That'll be 32.84, said the young man. Astounded, I said, "Uh, that seems like a lot for a medium pizza". He checked his math and realized "Oh, I rang it up as a large..." and started again. I said, "that's good, because if my mother ever found out I paid 32 bucks for a medium pizza she'd come here and kick both our asses." Smiling , he hit me with the new total, almost 28 dollars, which while still ridiculous, wasn't worth stomping out over, as it was nine oclock already, and if I left I'd be imposing on some other staff just before closing. "OK, just make it." So he rings me up, and hands me the credit card receipt, complete with a line for Tips, and is standing there watching to see how much I'm going to add for no table service, music, TV sound, ambience or anchovies, which was ZERO. I was doing my own math, figuring how many Domino's average pizzas I could have gotten delivered for 27 bucks and change, without getting dressed or driving ten miles. (answer: Four) So, wondering if I'd be getting a sabotaged pizza, (who ever knows), I waited in the silence as the crew banged around doing dishes and stacking up the chairs. I expected to just get a call when it was done about 17 minutes later, but a girl brought it out just as I was getting up to go check on it. Here's the thing, the pizza was pretty good, I'd give it a B+. Good crust, cooked well, and tasty, but nothing spectacular really. And not what I'd wanted. I sat and ate about half of it in the silence, craning my neck to see if anything on the TVs up by the ceiling was interesting (there wasn't), as the cleaning went on around me. Finally, I got up and got a box from the fixings station and cleared out, just as the manager kid asked if there was anything else he could do for me, which was a bit too little, too late. Admittedly I'm from a bigger city and fairly new here, but for a pizza place with pretty good food to be empty at nine o'clock on a Saturday night told me what I'd just learned,-- the customer experience is not uppermost on their minds at Johnny's. It seemed rather like I was there to serve their needs--sparing them hiring waitstaff, filling my own drink, etc... If you go, don't sit there expecting service like I did. Grab a paper menu (again, only up at the counter) and study it a while before getting surprised with ten bucks in added charges for four items on top of 14 dollars for the crust, sauce and cheese. I probably won't be back, I can get a better pizza closer to home with a waitress and lighting and music for much less. I understand, most of my disappointment came from my own expectations being dashed, but going for pizza is a ritualistic thing and people have these ingrained desires they want filled. I could have left, but I didn't, so I'm partly to blame I guess. If you go, chances are you can have a good meal, as long as you agree to do half the work, and you aren't on a budget. read more

Survive was alright just a bunch of "bros" working there having a good time which isn't a big deal, just the pizza is what hurt this experience, very bland, very dull, nothing that puts it above the larger chains. read more

Finally a pizzeria I can count on day in, day out! Cheese Steaks, slices, and pies have all been outstanding so far! The customer service is above and beyond. Gave this place another try, 3 hours to get a large pizza and cheese steak. Cheesesteaks are always excellent. While delivery is pretty bad, but not sure why Pizza is inconsistent. $6.95 delivery charge and the tip. I think I have given them a fair shake. Just not for merry trrrtr read more

I had a very bad experience here and maybe they don't deserve a 2 star review for their food but they do for how they treat their customers. I ordered a foot long sub, plain...only with cheese. I asked for a little extra cheese since I wasn't getting anything else on the sub and the clerk said ok. The last few times I'd been they were really stingy with the cheese. I also asked for some marinara in a cup to dip the sub in. The clerk ran the card for $14.88. I went to make my drink. Then it hit me what she said and I asked why was it so much? Then I saw where they charged $1.00 for the cheese and .75 for the marinara. The last few times I had been there was no change for the marinara or the cheese. The sub by itself is $10.00 which is bad enough. I asked why and some guy said they always charge extra. But they hadn't in the past and I told him so. "I've worked here for 2 years and we do" he said sternly. They haven't been open 2 years in WF!!! He said he would refund the extra charge "this time" but... NO I told him to refund the whole damn order and I would take my business somewhere else. When they first opened the owner (Johnny I assume) was there and things were pretty great. He was even the one that recommended the marinara! Now he's nowhere to be seen and and the people working have no idea how to treat a customer. Never was an apology uttered for any misunderstanding nor was any kindness shown. They acted as if they didn't care whether I came back or not. They won't have to worry about that. read more

My family and I ate here tonight and we have absolutely fallen in love with it. The staff was kind, helpful, and amazing and the food was delicious. The atmosphere was relaxed and everything was clean, comfortable, and easy to find. When our food came out, we were surprised to actually find extra garlic knots in our order. We had two pizzas, one cheese and one buffalo, but everything was cooked to perfection. The crusts had a nice crisp to them but were still soft inside and the quality of the ingredients was amazing. I loved the fact that our appetizer was sent out first and our pizzas came out not even 10 minutes later -perfect timing! Since we had our toddler with us, I was also thrilled when the gentleman who brought us our appetizer came back with plates. Even better the staff made sure to check on us while we ate, which was wonderful. We will absolutely be back here again and are already making plans to do so. I love that even though the atmosphere is casual, the staff made sure to treat every single guest as though they were being waited on. It really gives a cozy and caring feel. I ordered large pepperoni, cheese sticks and a 2 litre from there last night for family dinner. After taxes & delivery cost it was close to $60. The order came quick through Slice app but when received, my pizza was hard like a cracker with very little sauce & cheese. I could of purchased a box of pizza flavored crackers for $4. No consistency between orders. One out of three you wasted your $$$. I just bragged on them last order to, what a disappointment & waste of money!!!! read more

The crust was chewy and rubbery. The meat pizza with sausage, pepperoni and bacon was just an odd flavor and really didn't like it. The kids had cheese and one with pepperoni, they didn't eat all of the pizza. I asked them if they wanted to save the pizza for tomorrow and they said no. These kids love pizza and I have never heard them say no to saving pizza. This pizza is overrated. Kids didn't even like it. Maybe the deep dish is better, we will try that next time and update the review. read more
