I'm a Buffalo, NY native folks, and thus have had my share of great chicken wings. Johnny's wings were on par with anything I've had in the Queen City. My only suggestion to make it real Buffalo style is thick blue cheese dip. The other meals served were amazing - two pasta dishes and the fried chicken. All tasty. Everyone loved their dishes. The prices were very fair for the quality and quantity of food brought to the table. I'm surprised at the 4.1 Yelper average. The meal and service we had tonight was excellent.

We ordered the calamari for an appetizer and it was very good as usual. Calamari (fried) is served atop an aioli that's heavy with garlic. For my main course I opted for the branzino with seafood risotto. I would not recommend this dish. The branzino came out slightly warmer than room temperature with a big dollop of room temp butter on it. I wonder if the intention was to put the plate under the salamander to warm / crisp things up prior to service but was forgotten. So I scraped the butter off the fish and onto the side plate it went. I was hoping for crispy skin but alas it was not to be found on this dish. Off came the skin and onto the side plate as well. The fish did have a good flavor to it. The seafood risotto was swimming in butter and was not edible. There were several mussels (in the shell) in the risotto, as well as small bay scallops, and several shrimp. The scallops and shrimp were incredibly overcooked and the mussels so gritty that they were inedible. This place used to be my favorite restaurant. I think that this is the last time that I'll dine at Johnny's in Amherst.

Like Ron Swanson, I rarely post public reviews. However, I feel compelled ... Johnny's Roadside is hands-down the best diner I have ever visited - it has even supplanted my hometown diner as my absolute favorite! Service: The servers are always courteous and jovial. I find that they also respect their patrons' privacy more than other restaurants - they checked in at the start of the meal to make sure everything was up to snuff, then they let us enjoy breakfast in peace. Atmosphere and Accessibility: When I visit in parties of two, it's easy to get a table. However, it's clear that the diner is popular! Nearly every table is full. This means that there is some clinking and clanking and hustle and bustle, but the din never rises above a pleasant background hum. I can still have a conversation. Food: I've saved the best for last. One of my goals in life is now to recreate the quality of breakfast food made here. I always get one of the Eggs Benedict platters - their eggs are always cooked such that they are silky and creamy. Split open the egg, and the yolk perfectly coats the meat and biscuit beneath. The biscuits are always rich and buttery, but not cloying. The home fries are evenly seasoned. I have nothing but glowing things to say about Johnny's, I take my 12 year old Son out for dinner to Johnny's every Wednesday night, it's our "Mom-Son special night". The quality of the food is ALWAYS fantastic (I recommend the Salmon whenever it's available, as it's as good if not better than any "fine dining" restaurant in the area), the portion size is INSANELY generous (I have yet to come close to finishing a meal, so I always have a great lunch for my following day). The waitstaff are always friendly, available and define "great service". Tim (head Chef) is a hidden gem. I came with a friend and we could not enjoy the food or experience due to an extremely rude/disrespectful waitress. We are both people of color (female college students) and she made us feel extremely uncomfortable. She made insensitive comments about our presence and acted as though we were inconveniencing her. She accused us of bothering the other customers (who defended us when they overheard her comments). We really should've left because I bet she spit in our food... She was an old lady with glasses, white, almost bald with thin brown hair, and on the heavier side. Everyone else was very nice, but this one waitress ruined the whole experience. Will not return. We are two months new to the Amherst/ Hadley area. We have been trying out places in the nearby area. Last night we tried Johnny's Roadhouse for the first time. We almost did not eat there as the word "Diner" does not hold a positive image. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We cannot believe the INCREDIBLE QUALITY of the FOOD!!!!!! I went here with my boys and we had an awesome time! The atmosphere was fun and welcoming, perfect for a night out. The food was absolutely delicious--everything we ordered came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. Our server, Zackary, really went above and beyond. Don't listen to any of the bozos in the comments, this place is INCREDIBLE. I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE HUNGOVER AND ENJOYED BREAKFAST BEFORE. Also, there's an entire menu for alcoholic drinks in the morning. Like, where else can you find that? The food is outstanding. Get the eggs benny and never turn back.
