I come here to eat breakfast on the weekend. The place is always packed and the waitresses are always moving. This is the one place that Yucca has that I can't find something of comparable quality in Twentynine. The food is very good and portions are just right. Just walk in and grab a table, even if it hasn't been cleaned yet, someone will be along shortly. I have never been disappointed here, and return whenever the feeling moves me. read more

Food's so so...customer service is bad bad !! I can't eat sesame seeds, so I asked if I could get a substituton. They offered me wheat bread ? Yuk...they could have done sourdough, or even 2 bottom buns, but, I was told wheat bread was it. Also, I asked for grilled onions on my burger (yes it was a burger special day ) and was told....do you know how busy we are ? by the cashier at the counter! Probably one of the stupidest places I've ever been to. You order your food and then try to find your own seat. If your food is ready before you get a seat well, you're going to stand up and eat. The food was decent, the milkshakes are very good though. I don't know man, this place is decent for milkshakes and probably cheeseburgers, but I got breakfast. Which was okay at best. I love the food and the people are great but MAN the slamming of dishes and cutlery needs to be pointed out. I can only pick up food to go or my nerves are shattered by end of the meal. We roll into town every few weeks and we always look forward to stopping in for a late supper. My favorite stand by is the carne asada taco salad, the vegetables are always fresh and I feel like I had a well rounded meal. We tried the sweet potato fries tonight and they were awesome! My all time favorite though are the beef ribs there some of the best I've had. So if your really hungry order a side or something to tide you over ther so worth the wait. I use to love johns place but I recently went in there a few times and I was treated horribly. The waitress who took my order acted like she had something better to do, as soon as I arrived they were all very rude and were more concerned with going in and chatting with eachother I have never felt so uncomfortable I certainly miss the friendly environment they use to have I don't believe I will be going back they certainly made a mistake with the new change in workers. read more

I love Johns Place. I come often with a variety of company. We always get great service and yummy foods. My son and I come once a week if not every other week. I recommend this restaurant. Okay. Stooped here with three friends. I had the pastrami. Uck! It was so tuff I had to cut it with a knife and eat it with a fork. The onion rings were good but not great. My wife had a blt which was really good. One friend had the chicken strips which were very good and another had the country fried steak sandwich and enjoyed it very much. So maybe I was just the biggest loser. I probably won't return but if I do I will certainly not order the Pastrami sandwich. read more

I've eaten at John's place before, the food is good, you could do a lot worse in Yucca. I did however have a bad experience on a recent Sunday. I went there for lunch while working and passing through the area (I'm from the Coachella Valley). The dining room was about 1/2 full and at least half of the tables had their food and we're eating. I ordered a Reuben and zucchini, shouldn't take too long right? I walked up to the counter 25 minutes into my 30 minute lunch and asked them to package it to go. They acted confused and perturbed that they had already dirtied a plate. I told them that I now had to eat it later since my 30 minute lunch was over. One of the servers apologized and refilled my drink for the road, the other acted annoyed and said that I should have called my order in. I'm sorry, but 30 minute ticket times just don't work for me. It will probably be awhile before I go back, if I do. I like to support local and family owned business but there are other choices nearby. read more

So I've been to Yucca Valley a couple of times to visit family and whenever i go i make it a point to go eat at John's Place. With the friendly staff and great food, John's Place is a great place to eat when your in the mood for a hardy meal. The thing that i liked the most about this place is that although they make flippen awesome burgers and other American type dishes, they also have really cool Greek type dishes that are surprisingly very delicious. All in all, great place, and i recommend whoever decides to go to not be be afraid to explore the menu, try something different! You'll be surprised what you find! ;D read more

I have to be honest, as a longtime resident of Yucca Valley I have experienced Johns at its best. But today's experience was disappointing. Maybe it's the fact that I had breakfast at another local place C&S Coffee shop just yesterday and have something to directly compare it to. When I go out to breakfast, I want just the basics, executed well. I'm not super picky, but I want decent coffee and good food. I don't like flavored creamers, I just want half and half. I don't think that's asking too much. Also, I want jam on my toast not grape jelly. That's it. I got my coffee, it was terrible. They said they don't have halfnhalf, so my only options were 2% milk or non dairy creamer. I was bummed. Decent coffee is half the experience of going out to breakfast. The sausage just didn't taste good, again it could be the breakfast yesterday that has gone from average to excellent in my mind since eating Johns today. Whatever the case, if a restaurant doesn't execute the basics well, it's really not worth a visit right? Go to C&S for breakfast, or make some decent coffee and eggs at home. While visiting Joshua Tree, we stayed in Yucca Valley...and ate at John's Place for dinner one night; had lunch the next day, and dessert later that evening! The dinner (chicken fried steak for him; liver and onions for me) was good and not too expensive; the burgers for lunch (classic blue cheese for him; veggie with avocado for me) were yummy; and the ice cream sundaes were excellent! Over 20 years of visiting the area and nearly a decade as a resident and until today never tried John's Place. While in town running other errands decided to try it out. Local radio spots and Yelp reviews paving the way. Lunch was pretty busy for a Friday - tables filled and the grills were stacked with orders but never felt like the wait was long. Ordered at the counter, delivered at the table. Even saw a few people cleaning up tables and offering to clear our tray when we were happy to clean up after ourselves. .99 burger was nice, order fries and Philly cheese steak too. After seeing our neighboring tables onion rings which were huge and looked delicious. Nice menu of breakfast, lunch and dinner items. Liked that dinner items come with coffee and desert after 4pm which is kinda special if you're doing date night a diner which is totally our style. It may have taken over 20 years to try it, but we'll be back soon. Simple, fast, clean home-style food. Love it! read more

Great place.. reminds me of TOPS in East Pasadena. Came here with a co-worker for dinner a couple weeks back. Atmosphere: Old diner feel.. but a nice one. Very well kept.. You can always appreciate the old school 50's feel. Food: Good! Bacon burger was great... cooked just right. Assembled nicely and presented in a suitable manner. They put a little effort into it and didn't just plop a mess in front of your face. Had me some onion rings to go with it.. YUM!
