I heard this was a big name for shaved ice in Hawaii, so I had to try it before I left. I got the Tropical Breeze (small, local style), and it was delicious. They didn't charge me for the local style upgrade and even charged $1 less than what was listed on the menu, which was a nice surprise. Yum! Needed a bit of a refresher on a muggy day! Shaved ice sure did hit the spot. Not as good as Ululani's but good! The girls were very helpful in picking their top customer fav. The ice was soft, vanilla ice cream yummy and syrup very flavorful! Since it's just a walk up located at the coconut marketplace there wasn't really any dedicated seating. This place has many locations here on Kauai. I will say they have the best shave ice on this island. This is for the location in Coconut Marketplace. This place has about 3 tables around it. Crowded around 2pm so tables were all taken. There is a nice grassy area you can sit at though not too far from the place. Not that much shaded areas outside from the table areas. read more

Jojo's shave ice was the perfect treat on a sunny Kauai evening. I ordered the Hawaiian Breeze, a perfectly sweet mixture of guava, lilikoi, and mango syrups atop a super-fine bed of shave ice. The macadamia nut ice cream on the bottom was so refreshing, and the haupia topping was creamy and delicious. Conveniently located at Coconut Marketplace, it was an easy walk from our resort. The folks at Jojo's were really nice! The line moves quick and we got our shave ice decently quick. There's a couple tables, and seating around the plaza. Jojo's shave ice grew on me as I ate through my first cup. Hear me out- shave ice with the macadamia nut ice cream hits way harder than just shave ice alone. We got the tropical breeze to share because it's actually really big scoops. At first it was okay, but I should've gotten a little shave ice in the spoon with the ice cream. As soon as I hit the ice cream on the bottom, it was way better! I highly recommend trying it out and it will hit so hard after a day in the hot sun! It's pretty big though, I'd share. read more

They say it's the best shaved ice spot in town, and it did not disappoint! I got a coffee-flavored one if I remember correctly? Whatever I got, it was delicious. Maybe not the best shaved ice spot I had been to during my time in Hawaii but maybe that's because I like spots more off the beaten path. OMGeee, yes please!!! We stayed at a hotel that was walking distance that walking distance to this Jojo's and we're guilty of going here every night after dinner. It's really the best shaved ice we've ever had. We kept going back and forth between Haupia special and Tropical Breeze. We loved both flavors, but the cherry on top was the macadamia ice cream surprise on the bottom! It's so creamy and delicious. They have tables and chair right in front of the shack to enjoy the breezy Hawaiian evening. Service is great, the lady working behind the counter was helpful and nice. I felt bad for her because on some nights, it would get really busy and she would be by herself. People were understanding and waited patiently. The wait was worth it! read more

Jojo's Shave Ice is located at the Coconut Marketplace in Kapa'a. They have a lot of flavors to choose from, staff picks & you can also customize your own. We went with the Colada Special which comes with macadamia nut ice cream at the bottom and our daughter got Cherry, Watermelon & Strawberry with vanilla ice cream. There are tables outside. The shave ice is a little more smoother than the icy sno-cone types but it is not the soft ice either. The star was the macadamia nut ice cream! It was so good! Creamy and macadamia nuts in each bite. I would go back just for the ice cream but not the shave ice. I personally prefer the soft and creamy kind. read more

It was such a beautiful day to enjoy a Hawaiian shaved ice. Plenty of parking at this shopping center at Coconut Grove. Menu has recommended flavors. I went with my own. Mango, Piña Colada, and an original with Tigers Blood. The soft shaved ice, was over macadamia ice cream (yum), then all Topped with vanilla cream! It was perfect. Yikes, I'm surprised by the raving reviews -- this shave ice stand is definitely NOT the best one on the island. I ordered the Colada special with macadamia nut ice cream, and it took them over 20 min for my order when there was only one person in front of me. I waited the last 5 min nearby and heard one of the employees screech, "ewww, there's a dead bee in this syrup! I wonder how long it's been in there". I saw her already pour the syrup in the shave ice and still hand it to the customer after.... She didn't bother to make a new one... Colada special was.. okay. Nothing to rave about, not much to remember about it. Would highly recommend Wailua shave ice over Jojo's! You won't be disappointed! read more

Their shaved ice was delicious! Especially with the snow cap and li hing topping! The toppings were generous and the ice cream scoop in the middle was big! Service was pretty quick for 3 orders. Its a cute little building in the middle of the Coconut Marketplace shopping center. The girl was nice enough to give us a Clorox wipe to clean the stickiness off table nearby. We tried 5 different places that served shave ice. This was our most favorite!!! The gal that worked there was also from Colorado (as are we). We had a nice chat with her, super friendly, very customer oriented and just a pleasure. The owners are very lucky to have her as an employee. Now on to the really good stuff!! The menu was easy to ready, the choices were amazing and the Macnut ice cream was the best ever!!! The ice was so smooth, and the portions were very healthy! We are going to be dreaming of this for a long time, until we can return. They are located in the Coconut market place which has plenty of outdoor seating. My only wish is that they would have offered a long sleeve T-shirt!! I love to collect tshirts or patches from our travels. They did have a few shirts, but they did seem a little old and outdated, and they were short sleeved. Think about all the folks who come to the island from somewhere else. Jojo's has a nice array of creative recommendations on their menu board, and an extensive list of DIY choices. First time I've ever seen a coffee-based suggestion, so of course I had to try it. Not bad (like an icy frappe), but having grown up with fruity flavors, I think I'm gonna stick with those in the future. I was impressed to read that the syrups are locally made so they don't have HFCS, and the cups are cardboard and easy on the landfill. Servings are generous, so come hungry or prepare to share. They are open till 8:00, which is perfect for an after dinner treat. There are plenty of places to sit and relax outdoors in this little strip mall if it's not raining. read more

One of the best shave ice spots we've been to in Kauai. Would recommend getting one of the combinations - we were told tropical breeze, locals south shore, and locals north shore are the most popular. Got the tropical breeze - it has guava, liloikoi (a passion fruit) and mango as the syrup then a macadamia nut ice cream and a haupia cream topping. Would recommend sharing this cause it's a lot, but more power to you if you want to try more flavors! read more

I love shave ice and their flavors were great. Downside is their website says they have vegan non dairy coconut ice cream so we specifically came here for that, and they told me their website menu is super outdated and they don't offer that anymore. That's a bummer. Please update your website or bring back the vegan non dairy ice cream. read more

I loved the mac nut ice cream at the bottom and while I don't like nut pieces in my dessert, I really liked this one. I am actually curious to know what ice cream they use. The staff here was so friendly and I loved how you could get souvenirs and shaved ice at this spot. I'll definitely come back here for shaved ice when I am in the Kapaa area. There is some street parking and a tiny lot near by. We got lucky going on a weekday afternoon to find parking. There is a small bench outside for eating the shaved ice.

Being in line for a bit, gave me time to study the menu, and I landed on ordering a S'mores Sundae ($11.75), described as 4 piece Graham crackers, 2 scoops of Macadamia ice cream, marshmallows (roasted) + Hot Fudge. After my order, she immediately to make it. What I really appreciated was that she put plenty of small marshmallows on top, and then used a small blow torch to roast the tops. My wife and I shared it, and we both agreed that it tasted like a freshly made Smores, but with really good ice cream added to it. It was delicious. It was the first time having it this way, and it really worked. Kudo's to whoever created this sundae.

My kids predictably ordered something bright blue - Cookie Monster and another flavor that could only have been invented by either a six-year-old or a marketing genius. Whoever came up with those flavors is probably laughing all the way to the bank. I went with mint chocolate chip and toasted coconut topped with hot fudge, and it was absolutely fantastic. Rich, creamy, and exactly what vacation ice cream should be. The only reason this isn't five stars was the service. Let's just say the welcome felt a little more "Who sent you?" than "Aloha." Maybe we accidentally wandered into a locals-only witness protection program. Hard to say. Still, the ice cream was so good I'd happily endure another soul-piercing stare for a second scoop.

Over the years, I've tried a multitude of flavors, but there's one classic that always beckons me--the Haupia (coconut) with macadamia nut ice cream. This combination is nothing short of heavenly, and I can confidently say it's worth every bite. It's a taste of Kauai that's simply to die for. During our visit, we also indulged in some other classic flavors, including Li Hing Mui and passion fruit. Each one was a burst of tropical delight that brought back memories of carefree island days. On the way back, we couldn't resist stopping for another round. This time, I savored the cold brew coffee, which provided a refreshing and caffeinated pick-me-up.
