Pura Vida is a perfect spot to meet your little sister for a quick bite. The food is clean, thoughtfully prepared, and well-portioned, with good flavor and quality ingredients. It's slightly overpriced, but still worth it. During peak hours it can be hard to find a table or even a place to sit, and the space can feel tight--especially with lots of strollers, as it's very much a mom-friendly spot. That said, it has great summer vibes all year round and is definitely a solid go-to for something fresh and easy.

Pretty good place and the atmosphere is good for crowds. Prices are not too bad but a little classy but petty filling for i had the feel salad and it wad devoured. You order and they bring you the food. Everyone should keep a friendly attitude

When this place opened, I was a hater. I was weary of a bigger, grander "slop" bowl restaurant. Do we really need another Sweetgreens? Much to my chagrin, I came in today, lured by its laptop-friendly bar seating, free wifi, and clean bathrooms. It hurts my pride to say this, especially after being such a naysayer, but...I might actually like this place?? It's hard to be a hater sitting in such a nice, inviting environment with plenty of seating and large glass windows overlooking the street. It's also hard to be a hater when the vegan chocolate chip walnut cookie you ordered as a vegan-food skeptic tasted just like any other cookie - nay, tasted BETTER than any other cookie at a cafe. And it's hard to complain when the $5 summer peach iced tea you ordered was twice the size you expected and was actually a really great deal. Or that the breakfast burrito that the guy sitting next to you was enjoying actually smelled so good, you're tempted to return for their full meals. I think what really sealed the deal for me were the bathrooms. I came in and thought, "Wow, this is NOIIIICEEE." A dirty bathroom can give you trauma, but the bathrooms at Pura Vida had that "come in, stay a while" feel. Yea, I'll be back tomorrow.

Stumbled into this place on a Sunday for brunch one day so glad we did! Everything we got was fresh and delicious! Really loved the açaí bowl, strawberry matcha and tahini chocolate chip cookie, my husband got the egg sandwich and banana espresso latte which were really great as well!

They always forget to include utensils. I usually check before I leave, but sometimes I'm in a rush, like today. Looks like I'm eating my lunch with my fingers!

The food here is great! Always feel healthy and good about what I am eating. We came right when they opened and couldn't wait to try. The best things we tried were the tehina cookie, the hibiscus tea, and my friend loved her acai bowl. The service is good, they bring the food to the table. The drinks take a while to come but they were great. I love the chic miami vibes and cant wait to make this a weekly lunch spot.

The Vibes here are great. This is an awesome addition to the Upper East Side. They have a good amount of outdoor seating and indoor as well. Staff here are very nice. I got the perfect egg sandwich. Sesame bagel is what I got with soft boiled eggs, arugula, tomato, avocado, olive oil and I got it without red pepper flakes. It is very bright inside, clean and welcoming. Glad this has finally come to the UES!

Heard about Pura Vida coming to NYC, but this is my first time trying their food! Overall I think their food was pretty standard but nothing stood out. I can see it being a reliable place when you're craving a healthy bowl/salad or smoothie. I did like how staff were super smiley! The spicy tuna bowl featured pretty fresh tuna slices and very fresh vegetables. The spicy mayo sauce was pretty standard. I added some seaweed myself to make it more a poke bowl vibe. The rice unfortunately was overcooked and some parts chunky. The pesto chicken sandwich was also pretty solid. Pesto sauce was tasty and ratio of ingredients appropriate. The cookies were better than expected! Really enjoyed the tahini, white sesame, and dark chocolate combination, as well as the matcha + white chocolate + pistachio action. This UES location has a good amount of seating and love the palm tree Miami vibes. I came during lunch rush hour and didn't see any seats available so I opted for take-out. Food came out at a reasonable time and they inform you via a buzzer device. Otherwise they bring it to your table with your number. I'd be interested in coming back for their smoothies!

If it's your dream to sip pink smoothies in an overly perfumed movie set, then look no further. The long-awaited Pura Vida Miami has made it to the Upper East Side. It's certainly eye-catching with its abundant outdoor seating, large fake plants, and crowd of well-manicured Equinox types and euro-chic tourists wrapping around the corner. Since my husband and I are big health food fans, we were very excited about this addition to the neighborhood, especially since they are seed oil-free. And the food is actually pretty good. But we found the experience really disappointing overall, for several reasons:   (1) Surprisingly limited amount of vegan options. For a health food joint like this, I would really expect the vast majority of the menu to be plant-based. On the contrary, there is just ONE vegan wrap, zero vegan sandwiches, and zero vegan bowls. What's worse, the vegan wrap was apparently redesigned to eliminate the savory veggie protein bites it used to contain. Now a little hummus is the only source of protein in there. I simply do not understand why they don't offer grilled tofu or something as a protein addition to the salads, wraps, etc. So basically, if you want to eat vegan here, you are largely limited to the açaí bowls and smoothies. And if you're vegan and want to avoid coconut, forget it. You should eat somewhere else. This is clearly one of those restaurants geared toward people who want to pretend they're going for a healthy option when really they're chowing down on a croissant stuffed with mozzarella. (2) Overpowering scent in the restaurant. We were initially confused at why there was such a strong perfume smell upon walking in. We quickly realized they are marketing a "room mist" that is for sale in the checkout line. I guess they think pumping this mist into the dining area at regular intervals will add to the beach vibes. (3) Fake commitment to being eco-friendly. When we ordered at the register, we were asked whether we had a table. We said we plan on getting a table. (The restaurant was busy, but there was a ton of turnover and we were confident we would find somewhere to sit.) However, the cashier insisted that our order be logged as "to go." Almost immediately after placing our order, we found a table. I found a staff member and requested that the order be changed to "for here" so we could be served on reusable plates/utensils, but they absolutely refused. They offered to bring us plates and utensils so we could transfer the food from our takeout boxes onto plates when it arrived. No thanks. So we were forced to eat out of a mountain of cardboard boxes and plastic containers. A meal for two created so much waste that it would barely fit into the undersized trash cans in the restaurant. They should put a full-size dumpster underneath the fake palm trees to accommodate all the garbage that is generated here.   (4) Poorly functioning rewards platform. I downloaded the app and scanned it when we placed our order, but I never got my rewards points credited on the app, even after reaching out to customer service.   Things we did like - the house kombucha (brewed by Radiate, a brewer in Miami) is super tasty. Also, all the food we ordered was pretty tasty and fresh. But based on the lack of variety in things that we could order, as well as all the issues described above, I doubt we will return often enough to make use of the supposed rewards program. If you want clean, fresh, plant-forward food served in bright surroundings, you'd be much better off heading downtown to Spring Cafe Aspen.

Watching them build this from the ground up is actually pretty insane. My favorite Miami gem has made its way to the UES. Ofc I had to try it. Wasn't too packed and there is ample seating both inside and out. One thing about Pura Vida - it is consistent!

I feel bad writing this review because the staff is so great! But anyway, the place is skimpy with the coffee when I order to go, and I've tried the spicy tuna bowl, the egg sandwich, and the tuna sandwich. Everything I've eaten here was extremely bland, I had to take them home and add seasoning. Just added salt and pepper. The tuna sandwich was particularly very very dry and bland. I was excited about this place because it opened near me, but the food is not worth the price. I do like the decor and the hours tho.

definitely get the PSL... (Once you try it, you'll never have another bc you'll know the diff between one made with real ingredients and the sugary syrup things that you normally get at other cafes). Fresh pressed juices, delicious salads, and snacks - my new favorite staple on the upper east side

Most Asian…read morerestaurants in this neighborhood are fancy sit-downs, so it was exciting to see a quick, casual stop for Asian "finger food" (for a lack of better word) within my vicinity. Joju specializes in modern Vietnamese cuisine, serving meals like bahn mi, loaded fries, and rice meals. The menu recently added soy garlic wings, and since I am a fiend for Asian-style fried chicken, I of course had to have it. While all of the beverages looked tempting, especially their non-alcoholic soju refreshers, I needed caffeine to offset the afternoon slump that was about to follow, so I ordered a Vietnamese coffee. The wings were huge! It was notably crunchy, saucy, and juicy. There was a decent skin to meat ratio, (I so hate biting into a mouthful of breading), and the meal came out piping hot. It was clear the chicken had been fried per order. Those who know me know that I can't live without rice and would eat it with almost any meal, including fried chicken, so I did request it on the side, although the wings don't come with it. The man who took my order did me a solid and served it with mine, anyway. Good lad! I've been wanting to try Vietnamese coffee for a while now, and it was everything I imagined it would be. Sweet with a bitter backend - but not too bitter! I'm still new to coffee, and I pucker up at anything too intense. This was just right. My meal at Joju satisfied me, mind, body, and soul. I hope it is here to stay, and I hope that a shop like this is a catalyst for other quick Asian food stops to follow. Korean and Filipino restaurants - I'll be waiting!

There are a few locations, but I decided to visit this one because it was the most convenient for getting to and from home. I got there around 7:00 PM, which felt a little close to closing time since Google said they close at 9:00 PM, but it wasn't busy at all. In fact, I was only the third customer to place an order. I ordered the La Summer sandwich and added pesto. After sitting down and taking my first bite, I immediately understood the hype. Without a doubt, this is one of the best sandwiches I've had in a very long time. I'm not even a huge sandwich person when it comes to subs and deli meats, but everything tasted incredibly fresh. The ingredients paired together perfectly, and you could still taste each one individually. The only thing I'd change next time is the meat. I had no idea prosciutto was a type of ham, but honestly, it didn't even taste like ham to me. It was sliced paper-thin, slightly salty, and worked surprisingly well with everything else. Next time, though, I'll probably add salami just to see how it compares. Overall, this sandwich was a solid 10/10, and I will absolutely be back--whether it's to try a different sandwich or, if we're being honest, order the exact same one again with salami added. I will say it's on the expensive side, but that's New York City for you. Apparently, all of the ingredients are flown in from Italy. After tax and tip, I paid a whopping $28 for a single sandwich. That said, it was incredibly filling and definitely kept me satisfied. The workers were also really nice and accommodating, and the indoor seating was beautiful. The atmosphere felt like a fancy Italian café, complete with couches and artwork throughout the space.
