To be honest, the first time I had Jollibee in SoCal years ago I was not impressed. And I've never gone back since that time. Until we moved to Las Vegas, my girlfriend had brought home some Jollibee. And I was actually kind of excited about it. Then they did that collaboration with the Korean pop group, offering a really great spicy Korean chicken sandwich. That changed the game forever. I wish they still had it, because I would eat that everyday until I exploded. That being said, went back to have some lunch, and checked this place out. Is super clean, plenty of parking, and everything is very neat. When you walk inside, the front counter is right there and ready for you to make your order. Guy behind the counter was okay, not stellar, but okay he got the job done so I have no real complaints about that. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich which came with jalapeno and Sriracha mayo. I decided to order some bacon on that as well. I thought this was easily going to be a $20 meal with the addition of the bacon, but I was pleasantly surprised when it came in at under $15. For that $15, I got a sandwich, french fries, a drink, and a mango peach pie. In this day and age of fast food meals costing upwards of $18 to $20 and all you get is a burger frying small drink, this was actually a total surprise. The food itself was hot, not just seasoning, but temperature wise. The fries could have been a little bit hotter, but they were definitely crispy and that's a bonus to me. The flavors on everything were completely balanced, and what a surprise that peach mango pie was! Super tasty and delicious with a very crunchy outer shell. Bottom line? I have totally changed my opinion of Jollibee, and they can consider me a customer for life. This was my first time going to Jollibee. The customer service is outstanding. The spicy chicken sandwich is totally the bomb. I also ordered an Angus cheeseburger, which was perfect in every way. So I decided to do some grocery shopping in the Anthem area -- you know, where Trader Joe's and Seafood City are in the same plaza -- and suddenly, my cravings kicked in... I've been meaning to try Jollibee for quite a while now and always forgot that there was one on my side of town. After being poked and prodded by a few friends, I decided to give it a shot. I got the two-piece, one side combo with a pineapple quencher. I got my combo half and half meaning one piece of chicken was spicy and the other piece was normal. The combo comes with a biscuit and side of gravy and I got adobo rice as my side as it was recommended by the cashier. I also got a spicy chicken sandwich a la carte. The spicy chicken sandwich was not bad at all. It definitely had a little bit of a kick to it though, I'm not sure if that was the chicken or the sauce and the jalapenos that were on the sandwich. Definitely not unbearable though. Smaller than I expected, but filling. The combo surprised me a bit. I was surprised first off that it came with a biscuit and side of gravy and besides dipping my biscuit in the gravy, was unsure what to do with it. I ended up trying it on the chicken and on the adobo rice. The gravy itself was fine and tasted like a very simple Thanksgiving gravy. The biscuit was okay but elevated by the gravy for sure. The adobo rice was surprisingly bland and seemed a bit mushy but again, putting the gravy on it helped it greatly. I was really surprised though by the original fried chicken. It was incredibly crispy and very moist and had a good amount of flavor to it. The spicy piece on the other hand, though good and had a nice kick of spice, was more bland. It's like they were focusing more on the spice than on the flavor. Overall, I was satisfied with my meal and was quite full. This was dinner and it did not disappoint. We placed our order almost an hour in advance of the pick up time. Once we arrived, the order wasn't ready. In fact we waited an additional 30 minutes beyond our pick up time. When asked what the wait was for, the manager replied "the order was coming out." I really hate writing bad reviews, and if you follow me you know I only do it when it's repeatedly deserved. I have an unhealthy addiction to this chicken, so I do admit to indulging more often than I should. This year, unlike in the past, is always an unpleasant experience. The wait times are unacceptable. Jollibee and Zippy's are my two comfort food spots. A heads-up for those who think this is a new spot: Filipino spaghetti is quite different from other types of spaghetti. It's sweet, which is how we enjoy it, but it's an acquired taste. In my opinion, their aloha chicken sandwich is better than most fast food chicken sandwiches (don't come for me). However, the fries are probably the most disappointing side they have to offer, depending on how you rank your top five fries (if you put in-n-out up there, then maybe you'll like the blandness of these fries). Jollibee isn't exactly top of mind when I want fast food but sometimes I get a craving. They have one of the only fried chicken offerings that I like. And I mean like real fried chicken. All good things but pretty standard. It hit the spot and got me through the evening. That is the important thing. But I kind of missed the spaghetti after all. To round out my meal I ordered an ube pie. Well, they asked me if I wanted an ube pie or a peach mango pie. I've had both and both are good. But ube is one of those things that is just a little extra special that nobody else has. Fruit pies by comparison are fairly common. Tonight Jollibee served me well. There was no line in the drive-thru so that was nice. Food took a few minutes to get to me. I could see several other orders being worked on. It must have been more busy inside. Nevertheless I got my food, got to my destination up the hilland had plenty of time to eat before my meeting. I may stop by again in a couple of weeks when I go back for meeting part 2.
