The place is small. Which I like. There isn't a lot ppl making noise beside the people Thea work there.. they play jazz music . I would love to study here.. but it doesn't have any Wi-Fi. I have to use mine.... But one of my studying here... the meal that I ordered with a Hawaiian barbecue chicken in the regular price $11.50... the chicken is huge!!!! Whenever I come here, they're always cleaning. This place is spotless. They also take great pride in the quality of the food they serve. I always get the regular chicken katsu with curry on the side. We've lived here for over a year now and finally ordered dinner and we have found a new regular spot. IT WAS SO DELICIOUS!! Not to mention, when you walk in - it smells amazing. We finally decided to try it out after friends had said it was good. We put in our order at 5:30pm online for pickup. It said it would be ready by 5:42pm and when I walked in at 5:40pm - it was ready to go! Ordering online was so easy and you could modify as needed for different items. I had the Chicken Katsu and this is the regular size. The portions here are large so next time I would probably order the mini. I order Door Dash from here on a pretty normal occurrence. We always get the short rib, and chicken katsu or the Lulu Fried Noodle. Portions are large, and filling. The food is almost always perfection. We've had a couple instances where the meat on the short rib was too fatty or the portion was smaller than usual (3 pieces instead of 4), but I've only one time had this to where I was disappointed with the quality of meat as it was thin, and dry. I order here at least 3-4 times a month, if not more. The sauce that comes with the short rib is sooooooo good. It's like a soy sauce ginger sauce and it's just the best. Their rice is always perfectly cooked. The kimchi is my favorite from any place, ever. Perfectly spicy and sour/fermented. I'm finding if I order kimchi from other places, it ALWAYS falls short. The portions are enormous for the price you pay! We typically opt to share a family meal rather than individually order our own plates so that we can try a variety of the meats they offer. They are flexible with substitutions so we usually customize our order to include the chicken katsu instead of the BBQ beef. The appetizer: Crab rangoons - basically fried wontons filled with a creamy crab interior. These things are actually freaking DELICIOUS! A must-order! The meats: BBQ chicken - out of all the meats I've tried here the BBQ chicken is by far my favorite. It's tender, flavorful, and probably the healthiest option on the menu. Katsu chicken - my friends really enjoy the katsu chicken here but the way they flatten out their chicken into such thin strips does not appeal to me. The katsu is actually fried to crispy perfection, but the process by which they pound their chicken into oblivion just results in a dense sheet of meat that is not tender or juicy. Not a fan. Galbi (beef short ribs) - I did not find their galbi to be particularly impressive. A bit overdone for my taste and tough to chew, with more of a smokey charcoal flavor indicating that they burned off all the marinade. I personally prefer my galbi to be just cooked through (maybe even slightly on the undercooked side) for better texture and flavor. The sides: Macaroni salad - I appreciate how they keep the macaroni salad in a separate container outside from the rest of the food. This way, the macaroni salad stays at a cool temperature and mayonnaise doesn't get all over the rice. All in all, Lulu's is your typical Chinese-owned Hawaiian BBQ establishment, so if you're looking for authenticity, go someplace else. But for anyone who just wants an affordable meal with generous portions, this place will satisfy your needs just fine. read more

I was excited to see Lulu open up after a much anticipated wait. I frequent the Albertsons next door and was excited to see a new eatery open up close to Inspirada since the area is lacking a selection of quick food. Stopped in one night for dinner and ordered the Hawaiian BBQ chicken plate and a side of fries for my son. The hospitality we received was great and all of the workers seemed eager to please. The regular plate was your typical Hawaiian lunch plate. The teriyaki chicken was moist and flavored well. Served with two scoops of rice and a scoop of macaroni salad. The rice was sticky and the macaroni salad was your average Hawaiian macaroni salad. The teriyaki sauce was more salty and thin like a soy sauce consistency versus a thicker teriyaki sauce for dipping or pouring over your meat and rice. The workers stopped by all the tables to check in on everyone which was nice. I also stopped in another time for lunch and got the mini Hawaiian BBQ chicken plate which was a little less meat and one scoop of rice. Yay!! Finally this place is open! For the longest time I've stared at the Hawaiian BBQ sign and wondered what kind of magical food would be inside. Months passed and I was still left wondering. Although Robertos and China Tango are nearby and in the same Albertsons plaza they didn't serve up Hawaiian Food. I had pretty much given up hope. What was a guy like me to do except to buy King's Hawaiian bread, cans of pineapples, and cans of spam to make a nightmare sandwich and call it Hawaiian. Ugh! BUT LO AND BEHOLD LULU HAWAIIAN BBQ IS FINALLY OPEN FOR BUSINESS!! So the place is pretty easy to find and parking is in the same Albertsons parking lot so there's plenty. My girl and I made it a point to pay Lulu a visit. We made our way out in the treacherous rain and snow on a early Wednesday evening (yesterday) and like a beacon of Hawaiian goodness Lulu's shown bright into the night. We arrived around 7pm and there were about 2 other groups/couple inside eating. We glanced over the menu and placed our To-Go orders. The staff seemed pretty friendly. Overall the place is cozy like a neighborhood diner. Clean with that new restaurant smell. During our wait we noticed 2 other people drop in for To-Go orders as well. This was a good sign. We got our food handed to us by a nice woman with a smile and we booked it back home to eat and watch Survivor because nothing tops of the viewing of deluded neurotic people on an island vying for $1M like Hawaiian food. So what did we order and what did we thing about it? First off the amount of food you get for what you pay is great! Portion sizes were strong. Low Carb BBQ Plate - BBQ Chicken, BBQ Chicken (subbed out the beef), Short Ribs, and 2 eggs. The BBQ chicken was good, tender, and moist. The Short ribs were also seasoned well and tasty. The Eggs were.....well it's hard to screw up eggs and also hard to make them out of this world so the eggs were as you expect - good. I'm sure the chicken that produced them had a good credit score and called her mother every week. Half and Half Combo - BBQ Chicken, Kalua Pork, white rice and macaroni salad. The BBQ Chicken - see above. Kalua Pork - I had the option to have it with cabbage or without. I decided to go without. The kalua pork didn't disappoint. It was pretty tasty, salty (but not too salty), and mounds of it. White rice was standard issue - not much to say about white rice. If you've ever had it, you know what it tastes like. Macaroni salad was good and standard issue. Overall we were pretty happy with our order. Food tasted fresh and delicious. We'll certainly be going back and Lulu will make it into our rotation with China Tango and Robertos. All that plaza needs now is an Italian place and we're all set. read more

It's a mayo based sweet sauce that drowns the katsu. Think the honey walnut shrimp from Panda Express. It was overpowering and not at all appetizing. Had to throw out half of the food since since the honey-mayo sauce made a lot of the food inedible. Like other reviews, they give a lot, but when you're throwing it away because you can't eat it, it's not at all a value. Having lived my entire life in Hawaii, this is a step down from L&L. Additionally, the garlic chicken was good with a strong garlic taste. It was, however, dripping in oil. Once I blotted it with paper towels to soak up the oil, it was good. The beef lumpia was also oily, but because it was deep fried, it's to be expected. Overall, thought this would be a better experience.
