Decided to stop in and grab an acai bowl. I got the PB lover bowl. This place is a lot bigger than I thought it was. The service was okay. Nothing super special. But I was able to get my order taken and the girl handed me my order pretty quickly. They have a lot of space to sit down and eat which is nice. Even a small little patio if you want to sit outside. This one was surprisingly underwhelming. We went with very high hopes and left out $60 The garlic chicken is wonderful but we did order it spicy and it wasn't at all. Mac salad was below average. We had to order a whole plate because they didn't have a kids menu, Barbecue chicken was tough and dry. I had ordered the ahi sandwhich and 9th island fries. I was told the fries had 3 sauces, pink ginger and meat and scallions and got a plate of tiny oily fries with barbecue and mayo. My ahi tuna sandwich was flavorless, grey and the slaw wasn't flavorful much less spicy. The bun was tasty but covered in oil. Service was also very slow despite there only being two other families and the kids food came out last, they barely knew what we ordered. I love 9th Island Grill, and this is the only location I've been to for it. Depending when you come, the shopping area can be a nightmare, but it's always worth it to me. All of my interactions with the ladies who work there have always been very pleasant and they get me out pretty quickly for how fresh everything is. This last time Jennifer was the one to help me out. I always order the 9th Island poke bowl with tuna and an extra side of sauce and it never disappoints. The tuna always tastes amazing and every single time I forget how big the bowl is. I like to get the extra sauce because there's a good amount of rice in there, and it can be pretty dry since the sauce is all up top. The flavor combos are wonderful and I could eat this every week. We walked in and the place was empty at 5pm. Dining area was filthy! Tables and floor dirty. Trash cans were full! Last time we came it was dirty too. I ordered the poke nachos. Amazing as usual. The staff continues to be amazing - friendly and helpful! This time we tried the Garlic chicken plate - crispy and very tasty. The garlic sauce can be a little sweet for our taste, but the chicken itself was great; and the extra crispy chicken skin makes this dish! Also got the Loco Moco - the eggs don't travel great all the way home, but the dish is very tasty and serving size is huge! Lastly we tried the Tonkatau Ramen - this was good even taking it home! Visited again on a Sunday night to give it another shot as Josh invited us back to make things right. We decided to dine in and got the chicken katsu, seared ahi tuna plate, tonkatsu ramen and the loco moco along with 5 Hawaiian Sun drinks. My kiddo was bummed as the egg on his loco moco was already cracked. Doesn't matter to me but it may for others as it did for him. Other than that, my kid enjoyed the loco moco and I liked the roasted garlic garnish. My partner said his ahi tuna steak was stringy and didn't enjoy it. I thought it was alright and quite enjoyed the tangy flavored mustard dip. The rice was dry but not hard like last time. The tonkatsu ramen was flavorful and they give a good amount of chasu but the meat was tougher than I like. My other kiddo finally got to enjoy the chicken katsu and said it was good but thought the katsu sauce was ketchup. Our free entrees that Josh comped us were the chicken katsu and loco moco. Thanks for making it right, Josh! The dining room was clean and the two servers were friendly. We noticed that most parties coming in were getting açaí bowls. The flavor has been consistent across my last few visits. I still find their BBQ chicken overly marinated. If it weren't the only thing my son eats here, I wouldn't order it. This was our 2nd visit to this location. The 1st time we both ordered the bowls with chicken, and they were amazing! Based on our 1st experience, we went back and tried the two meat plate. Talk about customer service. The team here is AMAZING! The front receptionist Journey took care of me and my girlfriend and she was so friendly. I placed a catering order on Friday evening around 6:22 pm for a half pan of BBQ chicken, scheduled for Saturday pickup at 3:30 pm. When I arrived on Saturday at the scheduled time, a woman working there insisted that I had someone already picked up the order on Friday, which was absolutely not true. Another worker eventually brought out the half pan of BBQ chicken, so the order did exist after all. I then asked for teriyaki sauce to go with the chicken. The worker checked with the same woman, and then told me that they don't provide teriyaki sauce with catering orders because they only have the sauce in small containers and my order is to big to receive any teriyaki sauce. I'm honestly confused -- what kind of Hawaiian BBQ place doesn't provide sauce, especially for a catering order? Between the incorrect pickup accusation and the refusal to include sauce, the experience was frustrating. There are far better Hawaiian food options out there. The chicken and beef are both so flavorful and delicious; however, they fall short with the salmon. Today I ordered the mixed steak and fish plate because I was craving salmon, but I was nervous it wasn't going to be good. The beef was delicious as always, but the salmon was a little dry and lacked flavor. I also tried the Peachy PB smoothie and I liked it. It tastes like most shakes with PB. I do like how they have reusable plates. It shows they are trying to conform to greater sustainability and that's definitely a good thing. Now it was pricey. We paid approximately $55 for 1 shake, 1 fountain drink, and 2 steak and fish plates. I feel $40-45 would be more reasonable. Service was average, but the tables were a little dirty and they didn't have anyone wiping any of the tables down. The fried noodles not like Hawaii fried noodles sunny side up chopped eggs. Not much meat. And the noodles no flavor. Lastly the bbq chicken burger rubber and the veggies look old and the fries are soggy and hollow . I just wasted 56 dollars in the trash. Don't think I'll ever eat here again. I'm just upset.
