Have only ever had a cone here...but it is a hokey fun place if you are driving through or camping in the area. Walk up...something kids don't see much anymore. Bathroom is old but clean. Hand dipped is delicious and worth every bit of sugary goodness. read more

I write everything in context. Jolly Kone is like your local Foster Freeze. Basic hamburger, hotdog, fries, but they do it well. They also have chicken strips, curly fries, chicken sandwich, wraps with "green tortilla", tacos. The hamburger are solid, my friend actually thanked the stuff for how good the simple burger was. I have chicken nuggets with fries, basic, but they have good bbq sauce. We all got chocolate dipped cones after, your choice of three classic flavors. $2 with tax. Great deal. For something that you find along 395, this is a good place, food is fresh, basic, but good. Definitely will stop by next time traveling through. read more

Five stars for some awesome customer service! My 6 year old forgot his water bottle there when we lunched there on Tuesday; on the way home on Saturday, we stopped by to inquire if by chance it was turned in. The owner said, "Oh, yes, I took it home for safekeeping!", jumped in her car, and was back in 10 minutes with the water bottle. Yay for businesses run by real humans! read more

After a lukewarm soak at Buckeye or Travertine Springs or a long drive on 395 en route to Death Valley - this is a great spot to pop in for a cold drink and french fries. Good veggie burger, large and filling, about $6.95 I think, and that includes fries... which the Mono Cone in Lee Vining doesn't - there, you have to buy the fries separately. Also had an iced mocha which is unusual for a burger stand to offer. It was a pre-mixed mocha, not made there, and not the best I've ever had, but good enough and a large cup of it for $3. A Starbucks would be pushing $5 for the same thing. Pleasant vibe here, and employees are sincere and polite to you. Only thing keeping me from giving this place 5 stars is the eating area. Just a few red wooden picnic tables jammed between the building and the cars. A crowded-in feeling and not very comfortable. They really need a better eating area with trees, grass and breathing room. Otherwise, it's a good choice for a quick lunch in Bridgeport. According to their sign, they also offer massage! After driving 3 hours through the Sierras we decided to stop for lunch in Bridgeport. Jolly Kone stuck out the most with their giant red sign. We ended up getting the: - Fish Tacos: This was the best! It's a must get. The fish is so crunchy and delicious. - Regular Taco: I didn't like the ground beef so much in here - it was a little overcooked. Each taco comes in a flour tortilla with lettuce, tomatoes and cheese. - Chili Hot Dog: This is impossible to eat with your hands. There's so much chili and cheese goodness. Everything exceeded my expectations. I was so surprised that the food was so good at this little shack! Too bad we were too full to grab a cone, they looked amazing as well. read more

This little dinky burger stand out in the middle of nowhere had the best fries I have ever had in my life. They don't do anything fancy like cooking them in duck fat or adding garlic or truffles. They are, simply, cut into perfect sizes that fries up perfectly. The fries were seasoned just right, too, so I didn't even use the ketchup they gave me. As a former cook, I am more impressed by cooking technique than anything else, and these fries were made using perfect technique. read more

We stopped off for lunch here on our 2nd annual Eastern Sierra trip. The food was just as good as it was last year. My husband again had the ortega burger, and I again had the vegetarian black bean chipotle burger (it comes with an avacado spread)....both very excellent! This year we had the jalapeno poppers. Roadside burger 'n' cone stand, with great fries, lots of other good food, large selection, and veg options. Their umbrellas and bright red picnic tables provide a perfect place to sit and watch the passing parade of humanity, both on Main Street itself (aka 395) and on the sidewalk. They offer their guests free WiFi, and they are close to the other key Bridgeport businesses. We visit Jolly Kone at least twice a year during our trips through town. read more

Bread was moldy. Sent back only to here the cook say it was "fucking flour" it was mold. They gave us new buns . The girls that serves us were great. Cook has a bad attitude. They are hiring at the general store down the street. Maybe he should apply there. read more

Review is for the dipped cone only... A small cone is 2-3 times larger than a McDonald's cone. The ice cream is truly thick and creamy. The dark chocolate shell is thick, real thick. Best dipped cone that I have had. And the three people with me agree. read more

It was crunchy on the outside and tender in inside. I rather enjoyed it. The fries were slender and decent. The menu was extensive for a roadside burger joint. The staff is pleasant and the food came out relatively quick. It is expensive but that's how it goes in semi-remote locations in small towns. I will definitely stop by here again! read more

After a long day of working a poker run I took my four year old daughter down to this establishment to enjoy an ice cream cone as her reward for behaving so well. As we sat and tried to enjoy our ice cream we go the extreme pleasure of listening to the staff of teenage kids hooting and hollering at a very beautiful woman. They continued to talk about her possible professions in the sex industry and they were not so polite with their words. All this within earshot of my child and an elderly couple. The food here was actually pretty good, except for the snowcone (don't waste your money on that). I was just disappointed in how bad the service was. Some of the kids they hired are rude and cannot do math. They must have old fashioned registers behind the counter because they had to add everything up on their note pad. My students and I were on a field trip to Bodie. We came to the Jolly Kone after the Rhino refused to serve us. Fortunately not only was the Jolly Kone willing to serve us. The food was so good my students said they were willing to make the four hour trip just to come back their and eat. They had a great time and they loved eating at a classic hamburger frosty. I particularly loved the Bacon Cheeseburger and my chocolate dipped cone. This will be our go to spot next year when we bring our students again. read more

Do you like small towns, do you like cheap good food, do you like friendly people, if you said yes then the Jolly Cone and any business in Bridgeport is the place to be. My girlfriend and I take a week vacation up here every year and at least four days will have a visit to the Jolly Cone. It is one of the two or three "fast food" place to go. It is run by mostly kids so it is like the place for the jr. high and high school kids to work. Food is delicious no matter what you order. The favorite is the soda freezes, root beer, Dr. Pepper, and even RC Cola. I have tried the cheeseburger, bacon cheeseburger, and mushroom cheeseburger and they are all delicious. The safe fall back is the hot dog with all the fixings. They are not expensive which is nice, I can get a cheeseburger fries, Dr. Pepper freeze, and vanilla cone for around ten bucks. Go here for lunch and walk right across the parking lot and go to Albert's and grab a steak from the butcher for dinner. read more

So I drive into Bridgeport and i saw this inviting junk food place on the side of the highway, thinking im on vacation and having eaten food I shouldn't have the entire trip, i figured i'd continue my gluttony. WOW - Terrible, got horribly sick eating at this junk food shack, uncooked meat, horrible service and arrogant. I figure if im eating bad food, it should taste sort of good, boy was I wrong. Stay away and if your going Southbound, go to Lee Vining or Mammoth Lakes for food TRUST me, it's worth it. If you're going Northbound, go to any food place rather than this one. read more
