Fried chicken special
Angie H.

Went for lunch near the end of the lunch hour. We all tried the specials (had all 3). All were delicious and good portions. Service was good and we didn't have the "smokey" problem that some other reviewers spoke of.

Great food. Great service. This will be a new go-to on our frequent road trips down I-44. At the…read moreHen House you are warmly greeted. The food comes very quick considering it's fried chicken. Prices are so low! I had chicken and waffles with a side of Cole slaw. That was only 8.99. I normally pay $15 or more for less food. The chicken was delicious and you get two nice, hot waffles. You have a choice between tenders or bone in chicken with the waffles. My husband had both fried chicken and a bowl. He is super picky about fried chicken and gave it full approval. I will have a bowl next time because it was fantastic. And the biscuit is crazy good. They play music videos - great eclectic mix. Kind of a dive bar feel, but in the best way. If you are on I-44 by St Robert/Ft Leonard Wood it's worth the five minutes off the interstate it takes to get here.

It is…read morenothing fancy, but then I don't go to a restaurant for fancy, I go for great food and Willowes does not disappoint. The waitress Desirae was promptly taking my drink order and recommending the onion straws for an appetizer. She delivered it with both a homemade ranch as well as a homemade Cajun ranch for dipping. Make sure to try the Cajun ranch sauce. I the ordered the Cajun Pasta and did it deliver. Shrimp, sausage, peppers, onions and mushrooms in Cajun white sauce served over penned pasta. It came with 2 pieces of Texas toast. I required 2 more pieces to soak up all that lovely sauce. The meal was very reasonably priced. They serve Pepsi products. Looking forward to returning with friends in a couple weeks.

There wasn't a lot to choose from but I found this place and am so glad I did. Being a big-city gal and a female traveling alone I can feel a little apprehensive when stopping in small towns. It was obvious all the customers were regulars and they all knew each other, but the staff made me feel welcome. I had the meatloaf and mashed potatoes. I had never had meatloaf smothered with brown gravy before but it was great! They have a full bar and a great selection of beer. I loved the ambiance of the place, it felt like a throw-back in time. The menu was a combination of good old-fashioned comfort foods and some exotic items on the menu. They have something for everybody.

I stopped by today to kill time and have some breakfast while waiting on some local businesses to open. I decided to keep it simple and get the ham and cheese omelet. They exceeded my expectations. The toast was fresh and well buttered, the hash browns cooked to just a little bit of a crunch, and the omelette was packed full of flavor and ham. There's not many places you can get a full meal for less than $10. I may have to make this a more frequent stop.

On our first visit, it took a while to be greeted and it took forever to receive our food. I think we were there for two hours altogether on our first trip and we did not think that we would be returning. Fast-forward a few months and we came here because it was one of the few places open that had down home cooking, which we were wanting. I'm so glad we came again because it was such a great experience and we've gone again a handful of times since. I've had a few things here, but my favorites are their burgers, hand cut fries, the fried zucchini, and the lemon meringue pie. All of them are delicious. They also make a mean club sandwich, although sometimes they forget to cut it in quarters and just cut it in half. Not a big deal, but I personally prefer mine in quarters. The staff are friendly for the most part. There is one lady who I assume is the manager, who is almost always being rude to someone, whether it be her own staff or the customers. She always has something grouchy and negative to say, or she's belittling her staff in front of everyone. I personally would hate to work for someone like that. Hopefully she will have some joy in her life so she can turn things around. We can always tell when we get her on the phone for our call-in orders because she is the only one who is grumpy about having to type in the fact that we want to make a substitution for a burger topping. It's kind of sad that she stands out in this way, but that does not make it any less true. Anyway, the tables could use a bit of cleaning, especially the ones nearest the wall where there is dirt and dust. Aside from that, I really have no complaints about Rosie Jo's. It is one of our favorite places to eat in Ozark and we will definitely be back.
