We went for the Beggars Banquet menu aka Happy Hour Menu which runs every Sun-Thurs from 10:30P - 1:30P. We went on a Thursday and it was packed! Would definitely recommend their pastas and pizzas - both very solid and filling. The only thing disappointing was their Burrata Caprese where the Burrata didn't taste as fresh and creamy as other places, but still okay. Bartenders are typical LA douches. They make you wait 15 or 20 minutes when you're sitting right in front of them, then give you attitude for even ordering a drink. They white guy with the brown hair is the worst. He literally told a customer who was waiting that he "was lucky I even came over to you" after he repeatedly tried to get his attention to order. I finally flagged her down for another drink but that was about it. Probably because they do a mass seating at 7 and of course are slammed at that point. As for the food. Let's start with the good. My wife had the gluten free pasta dish and was surprised that it seemed to be home made gluten free penne. Very good, as was the sauce. I orders the Ahi tuna. It was bland and completely tasteless. Like easing an eraser. Usually Ahi Tuna is served with spicy Cajun seasoning. It was sitting on wasabi mashed potatoes that were so spicy it made my eyes water. Also ordered the charcuterie board. A few squares of cheese, some grapes and a bunch of dried meats that were so dried they were almost impossible to chew. Wouldn't eat that again. It would be great if they had gluten free pizza crust but that's their choice of course. All in all it was a pleasant time but I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to come back. After the Warriors won, the growling from my stomach for Italian grew. I checked for a late night spot (on Yelp, of course) and found Jones. Grabbed a rideshare up Santa Monica, had my ID checked (really, mate, which sub-21 year old bloke has a white goatee on brown skin naturally?), went inside, took an empty seat at the bar, tailed by a lady, poured myself a glass of water, had a few sips, went to the restroom, came back, and resumed my seat. The bartender pointed to my glass of water with a napkin on it and said the seat was taken. Yes, it was taken, mister bartender, by... me. Avoiding a scene, I found the lady who had been tailing me and asked her to find me a table, which she obliged. A waiter came by, took my order (light, but filling -- so, top marks for that. I asked for a glass of wine. And received it, after a bit of banter, where I mentioned I was celebrating the Warriors and the chap told me that this is worth the cost of the more expensive Primitivo, instead of the cheaper Sangiovese that I'd ordered. The thin-crust pizza was fine, the bruschetta decent, the bread looked more like pita than sourdough. Come to think of it, just order extra bruschetta, don't put any tomatoes on it, and serving this as bread would have been ace. Maybe having olive oil and balsamic vinegar available would also make it more palatable. The place was a bit loud for me, but I suppose this is what the place was going for. I was finally swayed away from the bolognese I would get during Beggars Banquet and have tried various pizzas, soup, and other items and they have all been winners. Most recently was the white pizza-minus sun dried tomatoes-with added artichokes (which I don't believe I've ever tried before but I liked them). Also gave the apple pie a second try and this time, it was better than the first if that is even possible (they may or may not use French Vanilla ice cream on the side, which is my #1). The bread is best while warm, but I usually overindulge on this, which I should cut back on (willpower). Jones never fails! I want to gatekeep and have this as a cute lowkey neighborhood spot but it is too good not to leave a praise Perfect for GNO. We had a resy at 745pm, came early at 715pm so we hung out at the bar area until our table was ready. The hostess was lovely, so was our server. This is my fave dish here (but i have a soft spot for calamari so this might be bias). * ravioli - this is listed in the appetizer section but it can easily be a main pasta dish. delicious! our server suggested fries to dip in the sauce and she def knew what she was talking about * fries - larger steak fries. not heavily salted. perfect for dipping in pasta sauces. specifically the ravioli pesto mentioned above * cabonara - lighter than most carbonara, with pieces of ham and peas. i liked this iteration. the rigatoni was al dente and perfectly chewy. * drinks - we ordered 2 rounds of dirty sue (their version of dirty martini). came with sidecars (shakers) with extra martini that you can pour yourself. bang for buck at $16. I had the gin dirty sue and my girl friend had vodka. we both loved it for the yummy heavy olive brine taste! My girl friend actually had a birthday dinner reservation elsewhere in West Hollywood in a few weeks, but after tonight's dinner, she made a resy for a party of 10 at Jones and will cancel the other one. We happen to get into a very minor fender bender on the way there so we arrived just at 2 o'clock in the morning and I asked the gentleman at the front door if it was okay if we could come in still after calling and making sure we'd be able to be seated. They want above and beyond with their service. The ambience of the restaurant was dark and dreamy and perfect for a late night dinner date like we were hoping for. This was the worst experience I've ever had. I came in on a Tuesday and upon cashing out, the server lost my credit card before bringing it back to the table and could not find it. She looked for it for 10 minutes, before I said don't worry about it, these things happen. They called me the next day saying they found it, which was great. Thursday I had time after work to go get it. It was 10pm and I called to try to speak with someone to tell them I was coming to get it. They put me on hold for several minutes twice, and when I called back the man who answered the phone said it was super busy. I was 5 minutes away at that point, so I just went in. When I got there it was not very busy and I tried telling the man the story about how I was here to pick up a card the server lost and he just disappeared without me finishing the story. So I tell the host, I'm like hey I'm trying to sit down but I need my card the server lost. The host thinks I'm demanding a table so seats us right away. I'm confused at this point and just want to speak to the manager and get my card and feel like I have been heard. The man comes back to the table with my card and is basically like "here" quickly and rudely. I'm like thanks? But don't you need to see my id to make sure it matches? He rolls his eyes and is like sure? Then gets out a flashlight and checks it before just leaving. I'm like what?! Are you the manager? Who is the manager? He then stands by the table jingling his keys. My friend is visibly annoyed. The server comes up to the table and I'm like I'm so sorry can I speak to your manager, and she quickly moves and points to the man jingling his keys who then comes over and I try explaining, yet again, that the server lost my card Tuesday night and I was just trying to come get it and have a nice meal with a friend in the meantime. He gets immediately aggressive and is like what is it you want?! I'm like excuse me? He's like what do you want? I'm like your server lost my credit card the other night, id think the manager would at least apologize for the trouble and maybe even send a small appetizer like bruschetta as a thank you for returning. He leans over and in the nastiest way says "IM SORRY!" My friend audibly gasps and I'm like wow, really? I repeat again, your server lost my credit card, then it must click. He's like wait what? I'm like yes. I told you 4 times now, once when I got in to the restaurant, and 3 times just now. He's like oh well I didn't know that. The server is mortified, I'm mortified, and so is my friend. We paid and left with the intention of speaking to the general manager. I called yesterday to speak to Keith their general manager, and he returned my phone call today. I was hopeful that I could calmly explain the situation to their general manager in the hopes of getting at least an apology and to use it as a trainable moment for their staff. What I got was berated, again. Keith was incredulous that I found it bizarre that, when handing back my credit card, the manager did not check my id to confirm it was my credit card. I said well per the credit card companies it is against your agreement regarding fraud to not check that, and actually as a policy it's pretty universal in every establishment. He sneered and asked, are you industry? It devolved from there. When I was explaining how rude the manager Rowley (spelling?) was when I said at the very least you all could apologize for losing my card, Keith was like wow okay I don't believe that. I was like what do you mean? He said, well the manager said that is not what happened. The server apologized several times and even removed a round of drinks because of how rude he was. At this point I thanked Keith for his time and told him I would write a review of my experience. Never in my life have I experienced something so dehumanizing and inappropriate when I was just trying to dine out. I did not lose my credit card, the server did, and when I tried to go pick it up I was berated by their MOD and a week later when I spoke to their GM I was essentially called a liar. With the economy the way it is, we should choose smarter where we spend money. I was really hopeful that this would be a new spot to hang, but wow. Avoid at all costs. read more

Was here a couple of months ago. The food and service are great, but the photos in the bathroom made me exponentially uncomfortable. The sheer objectification of women isn't sexual or empowering. It's just disgustingly patriarchal. I wish they'd keep the classic or neutral photos and get rid of the one-sided imagery that screams male dominance. It's SUCH a vibe here and love all the vintage decor. We had to wait a little bit for a table, but we got a drink at the bar, which was very fun and the crowd was incredibly lively. Once we got seated, I ordered the Spaghetti and Meatballs and we also shared a salad. The Spaghetti and Meatballs are some of the best I've ever had.
