While the vibe and food were decent, and the manager was an understanding hero, the patio staff's behavior was completely unacceptable. Before we even sat down, my boyfriend overheard a tattooed server say he "didn't want to serve us" and was passing our table to someone else. We chose to sit outside and asked for the heater to be turned on because it was cold. When a larger family arrived, **the tattooed server told another server to turn the heat off without even considering us, even though we were there first.** When we questioned it, he indifferently told us to "talk to the manager." It was glaringly obvious the staff was catering to the larger party at our expense. We felt uncomfortable. The manager was wonderful and immediately turned the heat back on, but the staff completely ignored us--service after that was nonexistent. Literally , they poured our water and never asked again. The male patio staff carried awful attitudes and were openly bickering with one another. To the staff: you need to be far more self-aware. Customers can see and hear everything. read more

The cedar plank salmon is divine. Moist, flavorful and huge portions. It's not even what I ordered and that dish is a stand out. We had dinner reservations at 7. We were 40 minutes late and they still accommodated us. I was humbly impressed. We were late because I got off work at 547 and still had to shower, dress and drive to my date's house. It was chaotic and I apologized. They were very kind. We were seated across from the aquarium and the layout bothered me. They had an Angel fish in with huge Gourami and that is a mistake as these 2 will fight due to being territorial, semi aggressive and too alike. The Angel fish kept chasing the biggest Gourami around the tank. They also had single fish that need to be in schools to feel secure. Like a lone neon tetra is just sad. Etc. I do not like this. They can afford better care and consideration of their aquarium. Period. It bothered me and my date made me shut up about it and not say anything to the staff because they probably wouldn't get it. I ordered the 88 dollar ribeye Medium rare. It came out more Medium but it was good so I kept my peace. I had roasted potatoes and kale. The kale was okay. The potatoes were tasty. I would return it just pray they show more compassion and care to the fish they keep. Staff is a finely tuned machine. Initial customer service was not a warm welcome at hostess desk or bar. After being seated the waitress eventually warmed up w/ a smile only after we ordered. The food was delicious. The white beans were very favorable, but too salty - I'd rather they be too salty than unseasoned. The green beans were very nice, as was the rosemary bread. Wow! This is an amazing, intimate dining experience. Tucked away in Laurel Canyon underneath the Country Store is this gem of a restaurant. We didn't have reservations but were luckily able to be seated. It was busy. We ordered some bread and mussels for appetizers. Very good. The main courses we decided on were Seafood ravioli, salmon and a burger for my daughter. My wife said the ravioli was amazing. I thought the same about the salmon dish. My daughter ordered her burger medium, but was under for her liking, but good. She thought the bun was a little too much bread for her. Desert was spectacular. Crème Brûlée, Tiramisu and warm chocolate cake. We couldn't have been happier. Fantastic service and exquisite food and decor. Definitely five stars! read more

I love this side of town, it's in a secluded neighborhood with a storied history of days of yore! We were celebrating a friend's birthday and were given what seems to have been the top notch one in the outside dining area. The place has a rustic vibe that permeates through its walls! Our server Kimberly was an added plus who exuded a really nice demeanor, you could tell that she was proud of her establishment! She observed that I had made a Dulce de leche Rogel cake for the birthday girl, and offered to take it to the kitchen, it was a lovely gesture! Kimberly took our drink orders and since three at the table drank red wine, they opted for the super Tuscan bottle. I ordered a Hendricks gin martini, all of which were swiftly delivered with my martini perfectly cold, 2 olives and a twist. As an appetizer we opted for the wonderfully tasty mushroom pizza with a perfectly puffed boarder, it was devine! My main course was Red Snapper perfectly paired with sautéed spinach and roasted potatoes, it was sumptuous! The others ordered, lasagna, spaghetti bolognese and pasta pomarola they were very pleased with their choices. It was a lovely surprise when later on our server came out with the cake with birthday candle glowing, it was magical. I Will definitely return to try the myriad of other choices! Came here for dinner on a weekday. We made reservation, the ambience is very unique, kinda like a cave house. It's in the middle of the Hollywood hills, there's valet parking. I don't think there's a whole lot of restaurants out there that are similar in terms of the location, the restaurant itself is a vibe. We ordered Caesar salad (7.5/10): it's a nice Caesar salad, not overly saucey. Normal portion. Waiter asked if we want anchovies, great. Lobster Papardelle (Daily special) (3.5/5): Pasta is perfectly al-Dante. But overall it's very alright, nothing special. I think their pasta on the regular menu is probably better. Sauce is great but won't really hang onto the pasta-- sauce is sauce, pasta is pasta. Green peas also don't really complement the flavours. They substituted with fettuccini without telling, which is alright but expecting higher standard of hospitality in this restaurant. Lamb Entree (7/10): We ordered medium, but turns out to be medium rare. Meat quality is good, comes with two lamb chops. Meat quality is decent, comes with two side of your choice (grilled potatoes and asparagus- nothing special). Served with pesto sauce. Snapper fish entree (6.8/10): it's good but nothing special, basic grill fish. Comes with mashed potatoes and green beans (green bean is alright, mashed potatoes is not bad). Cocktails (7.8-8/10): we ordered drinks as we were waiting to get seated. Dirty martini, mojito and gin cocktail. All of them are decent, not watered down and up to standard. Chocolate lava cake (9.5/10): BEST thing of the night. If you would like to order this, you've to do it once you seat down because it'll take time to prepare. Comes with berries and ice cream, the one we had was undercooked so it's super creamy inside! Yum! We sat outdoor and the ambience on a summer night is really cozy and intimate. This place is great for date night/ birthday celebration if you want a more intimate atmosphere, no loud music and you can have conversations. Service is decent, our server is attentive and gives good recommendations. There are no views or any photo spots in this place, but I think the establishment itself is a vibe and worth check out at least once. Best dining experience we've ever had . Family of six ( four children ) were pleased and impressed at every level imaginable. Kimberly and Alejandro were amazing , Sandy and Sammy were wonderful. The whole team at Pacé provided a memorable evening with exceptional service and great recommendations. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection (one of the best filets I've ever had; comparable to the Golden Steer and Del Frisco's). The Halibut was full of flavor and flaky with a nice crust. Easy to miss while driving along Laurel Canyon, this hidden gem is well worth seeking out. We're so glad we spotted it and made reservations to celebrate our holiday dinner. Valet parking is available just north of the grocery store attached to the restaurant; however, if you arrive early, street parking may also be available. Our evening was truly elevated by the exceptionel hospitality of Ruben. He was patient while taking our order and shared heart warming stories about the history of the restaurant, the chef and the staff. From start to finish we were made to feel genuienly welcomed and cared for, and every recommendation he offered was sincere. His personal attention was truly the highlight of our evening. Originally a pizzeria, Pace now makes its own pasta and it shows in the freshness and silkiness of every decadent bite. I especially loved the tortellini di zucca e ricotta, served with a sage white wine cream sauce that was delicate, slghtly sweet and simply delicious. The nightly special filet mignon was perfectly tender, cooked to the ideal temperature, beautifully charred and full of flavor. Finished with truffle butter, the steak developed a deeper, richer taste and was served in a very generous portion. It was accompanied by mushroom gratin and broccolini, both equally generous and delicious. The cocktail selection is fair. We ordered Pace's version of a margarita and a basil infused vodka cocktail, both refreshing and well balanced, with just the right amount of alcohol. Overall, a wonderful dinning experience marked by excellent food, warm hospitality and an inviting atmosphere. I ordered the cedar wood salmon plate which is one of their more popular dishes- it was so delicious and flavorful. We also tried one of their pizzas and it was also really good. Pro-tip: why pay the $25 valet fee when you can find a spot on a side street up laurel canyon? Pro-tip 2: visibility is lowered at night, and walking on laurel canyon can be dangerous, so why put your safety in danger when you can pay $25 and have valet do it for you! Took a date here. There are so many reasons to love this place! 1. The ambiance is both inviting and trendy. It feels like the super-secret neighborhood gem that you only tell your favorite friends about. I particularly love the fact that it's literally half underground. 2. The service is excellent- attentive but not overbearing. You aren't rushed or ignored. 3. The food. I'm pretty sure the Hercules's Pie is the best pizza I've ever had. You think you're in for a simple meat pizza- you are not. The ingredients are the best of the best, and it shows. The Chocolate molten cake is also noteworthy- make sure you order it at the same time as you do your main dish, to give them time to make it. The drinks are inspired and delicious. I especially liked that they incorporated a lot of herbs into their drinks- rosemary, basil, etc. 4. Love that they have valet parking that is easy, accessible and close by. 5. Reservations are usually available in a timely fashion. It's not impossible to get in the door, but a reservation lends itself to patrons with an intentional interest in dining there. 6. The location is welcoming and diverse- be yourself in jeans, a suit, a tutu, a t-shirt with Alice Cooper on the front. You do you. **Note** The stairs... from valet to the front door of the restaurant, you will encounter some stairs- not many, maybe 5, followed by another 2-3. The stairs are stupid steep- like there's an abnormal amount of distance from one step to the next. It's a canyon thing. Don't be a hero, hold on to the hand-rail. If you have a family member/friend with mobility issues, they may need additional help maneuvering these steps. Maybe drop them off at the front entrance and then park with the valet. read more

I can't believe we never tried Pace before! We live by Sunset so it's only a 5 minute drive. A friend recommended it and we're so glad she did. Pizza was absolutely unreal (we had the peace pie). We loved everything about our meal. But what made the experience extra special was the manager Chris. He went above and beyond to tell us all about the history of the place, show us around, and gave us some insider tips on what the best dishes on the menu are. We loved it so much we came back a week later - and Chris again took special care of us and shared more culinary and beverage delights with us. Highly recommend the Canyon Fog cocktail. First time back to Pace in a while, and it's even better than before. We were seated on the covered, heated patio, which was very comfortable despite the restaurant being "Saturday night busy." This was a surprise, as we came on a whim without a reservation, and were originally told we would be seated at a communal table -- but the friendly Host found us a 2-top, and we still had a nice time chatting with the people seated next to us. In addition to the great care we received from the Host, our waiter was very attentive and took very good care of us from start to finish. Something new to us, given that it's been a couple of beats since we dined at Pace, they've now gotten a full liquor license. Their cocktail list is very interesting, and I'll make my way through the options soon enough -- but this time I was in the mood for a traditional Gin martini, and they whipped up a perfect specimen, served with blue cheese olives and just the right chill. A simple appetizer of olives and pecorino was a great, light accompaniment to the cocktails and fresh baguette that came hot from the oven. For mains, my wife ordered her favorite: the cedar plank salmon with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Garlicky and herbaceous, with a squeeze of lime, the salmon has a terrific balance of spice and citrus, making the entree somehow substantial and light at the same time. I ordered the Mamma G's Pizza, which is topped with homemade pork sausage, caramelized fennel & fresh mozzarella. The crust was light and crispy, and the toppings were packed with flavor -- the sausage was lean and meaty, and the caramelized fennel added a nice, Earthy sweetness. This is an excellent pizza that may have to move into the "appetizer for the table" slot the next time we visit with other people. Pace is a bustling and convivial place to dine, with a genial staff and fellow customers that are poised to have a good time. The atmosphere is calming despite the bustle thanks to muted lighting and a communal warmth that edges into every corner of the space. This was a tough one because I feel like this is a tale of two restaurants. The food was outstanding. My lovely companion and I shared a Caesar salad and it was definitely a large enough portion for both of us. The dressing in particular was very good and was just the right amount. No croutons if that's your thing. She had the salmon and it was cooked on one of those planks and served that way as well. I had a taste of it and it had a smoky type flavor to it so if you enjoy that sort of thing, you should order it it comes with two sides and she got the Potatoes and broccoli and both were good. I had the pasta special which was lobster and it was excellent. Their pasta is homemade and very tasty. Now for the other side... from everything I read this was billed as a cozy and intimate restaurant. It was intimate in the sense that it's fairly small, but it is certainly not cozy. It was extremely loud and I should've written that in all capital letters because we almost decided to leave after we ordered because it was so intense. Lucky for us, there was a nice couple at the table next to us and we struck up a conversation with them, and although we were all yelling at each other, it somehow made the experience a bit better. The service was OK... The server was friendly, but we didn't see her much after she took the order and I had to flag her down to fill my water which if you have read other reviews from me, you will know that is a pet peeve. This place is in the middle of Laurel Canyon, and parking is very difficult so the only real option is valet for $14. Thankfully, they take Venmo and Zelle. Being raised in LA and not knowing about this place--I really need to get out more! Located in the canyons, this restaurant is truly hidden. You pass it all the time when driving down Laurel Canyon near the Country Mart, but what you don't see is the stairwell leading down to PACE. Upon entering, you're welcomed into a chic, warm, dimly lit, and stylish space. Reservations are a must. I was greeted warmly and escorted to my table, which was in the back by the covered patio. On the way, I walked through the restaurant and got a glimpse of the open kitchen--it was beautiful. The tables are placed close together, so be prepared for a cozy dining experience. There aren't many booths available. The service was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend trying the salmon. It was cooked perfectly--moist, flavorful, and a generous portion. I chose green beans and brown rice as my sides. The green beans were fresh, and the brown rice was fluffy and flavorful--a rare find! Another must-try is the lobster ravioli. The sauce was delicious, and the pasta tasted fresh and handmade--absolutely outstanding. For dessert, something as simple as fresh berries and cream was delightful--the berries were incredibly fresh. However, you must try the bread pudding. I'm typically not a fan, but after one bite, I was hooked. If every bread pudding tasted like this one, I'd be a fan for life. A Few Notes: * Ladies, if you're wearing heels, walk carefully down the stairs. * Valet parking is available, but the lot is very small. I'd recommend taking an Uber. * Restroom details: * There is only one women's and one men's restroom, so be prepared to wait. * There's no hook in the ladies' restroom, so if you have a jacket, keep it at your chair. Pace is one of the best restaurants in Los Angeles. The food is outstanding, the service is exceptional, and the eclectic, artsy aesthetic is interesting and unique. I got married on my parents' 50th wedding anniversary, and we celebrated that night with dinner here. The management was congratulatory and brought us complimentary champagne. We've come back for anniversaries as well, and they offer us a special dessert with a candle. The rigatoni and lasagna are favourite dishes. The place is tucked away in a little brick building right off Laurel Canyon, adjacent to Laurel Canyon Country Market. There's some parking nearby. I'm sure just popping in for dinner would be lovely, but Pace is a magical spot at which celebrating a major milestone will become one of your favourite memories. read more

I love this place! Fabulous date night. Salmon: 10000/10... literally the best thing I've ever had to eat. Rigatoni Pasta: 9/10 Bread Pudding: 9/10 Drinks: 10/10 I first went place in 2009. I recently went and it was even better than I remember. To be fair I was 22 and now I'm nearing 40... I'm also better at ordering. Highly recommend sharing a pasta dish as your starter. My husband and I started doing something like this a few years back and I'll never stop. The bread pudding surprised me! So good! FYI the chocolate soufflé takes a bit to cook, so make sure you order that with your meal, or else you'll need to wait. Ubers have a hard time with this place, but it's worth it, if you plan to drink, as the roads are a bit twisty getting there from the valley. read more
