We had a great time at Osteria Mamma! Went here to try out their dine la menu and it did not disappoint. Parking was super easy on Lucerne, you can also valet if that's your thing. Inside it was super cute and cozy and everyone was super friendly. For apps we got the cauliflower soufflé and the crostini and both were amazing! For meals we got the chicken tagliatelle and the gnocchi both were delicious and were good sized portions. For dessert we had the panna cotta and the chocolate cake. It had been quite a while since I have been here. The food is excellent as is the service! Filippo greeted me as if I had never left, I met his mom while I was working International arrivals at LAX for Delta Airlines. I made my announcements in various languages including Italian. Loredana came up to me and we instantly clicked. She told me about her new venture in her Italian restaurant where she was taking on the reins of Executive Chef. She has since passed away but she left an imprint on many lives including mine. She has left an unforgettable imprint that exudes magic in her kitchen! Her son Filippo has continued her legacy by recently becoming a Sommelier that further enhances the dishes his mom painstakingly orchestrated. The ambience was very cozy yet classic and inviting with soft Italian music further softening the atmosphere. Luigi was our waiter per eccelenza, he was so jovial, patient and very professional. He was truly faithful to the food and mentioned his appreciation of eating here which was a tribute to excellence. We started with a wonderful bottle of Franciacorta (a premium prosecco that is testament to a terroir, rivaling a fine French champagne) Our selection started with a Pinza margherita which is a square pizza with a dough that is rested up to 18 hours, the crunch was superbly softened by the pillowy texture imbibed by the tomato sauce and cheese. The rest included a wonderfully crisp tricolore salad with just the right amount of dressing. The pasta is made in house and the sauces are perfectly balanced, and enjoyed by 3 of us. I opted for the Frutti di Mare risotto which was a delight, It was perfectly balanced with tender seafood and rice that melted in your mouth! I visited Osteria Mamma after seeing so many good reviews, and it truly lived up to the hype. They had a carrot soup as the special of the day, and since the weather was chilly, I ordered it -- it was absolutely delicious. The bread you drizzle oil on felt a bit greasy, but the soup itself was incredible. I also tried the squid ink pasta, which I'd been really looking forward to, and it was so good. The shrimp was super fresh, and the flavors were spot on -- you can tell they really know how to cook. I went on a weekday evening and the service was wonderful. The ambiance was beautiful too, and I thought it would be a great place to come back for a date. Valet parking is $15, but there's plenty of street parking in the surrounding residential area. Overall, if you're craving truly delicious Italian food, I highly recommend this place. I came because of the great reviews, and it ended up being even better than expected. Had a very enjoyable dining experience for dinner! I appreciate the unpretentious setting that you get with the authentic culinary experience. Service was good, they were always clearing plates and checking in on our drinks. The crostini di burrata was my absolute favoriteeee oh my goodness. It took me back to Italy. The sweet honey drizzle with the creaminess of burrata to juxtapose the savory prosciutto. Mamma Mia!! SO GOOD. Also ordered the pappardelle Al Fumo and carbonara. Papardelle was meh in terms of flavor. Carbonara tasted very good. Both could've been a bit more al dente. Tiramisu was delicious. Hate to be a snob but it's one of my favorite desserts, when it's done right. This one hit the mark. Came here during Dine LA on a Friday night. Street parking was super easy and the restaurant wasn't too crowded when we got there but became crowded and pretty loud/hard to hear as the night went on. Our server was friendly and attentive. Overall, the food is good but not great. I enjoyed the flavor of the dishes we tried: arancini, maltagliati alla vodka and tagliatelle alla norcina, but the pasta was a little undercooked for some bites. The panna cotta was probably my favorite with the raspberry sauce. Nothing was bad there are just tons of great Italian spots in LA and I didn't feel that any of the dishes that we tried outdid other spots. read more

Easy five stars for Osteria Mamma. We were both extremely impressed by the food here. To eat, we split a variety of dishes including the Focaccia, Farro Salad, Maltagliati alla Vodka, Pappardelle al Brasato, Bigolotto Nero, and Tiramisu. I've been constantly disappointed by Italian food in LA. So much of it is Americanized and not authentic or actual Italian dishes. I'm SO glad I found out about Osteria Mamma. Every single thing we ordered was incredible and tasted just like it would in Italy. If you come there is limited street parking but we had no issues finding a spot. They have a gorgeous outdoor patio and plenty of space inside as well. It does get super busy so I recommend making a reservation ahead of time. I do plan to come back! In crowded, congested, and car packed Los Angeles, I was pleasantly surprised this charming Italian restaurant was away from the busy streets and in quiet neighborhood with plenty of free street parking...fabulous! At least on a Sunday night. I learned about Osteria Mamma on the Youtube show "Worth It"...and it is worth it! Service was friendly, ambience was warm dark and romantic, with Italian chic design. Frittura Mista, $22...deep fried, calamari, shrimp, zucchini, carrots, red and yellow peppers...a tasty, fun, fresh, and unique combination of deep fried happiness. I just though the portion size would be a bit larger for the price. Pappardelle al Brasato, $28...quite possibly the best tomato red sauce I've ever eaten! Rich, robust, and flavorful! Braised short ribs, porcini mushrooms, fresh ricotta cheese, and parmigiano reggiano. I was able to sub in the restaurant's signature green spinach pasta, made in house, and absolutely delicious! Trucioli $32...a wonderful, creamy and cheesy white sauce loaded with Porcini mushroom, fresh black truffle, and a generous scoop of fresh Burrata. Went here for DineLA. I had the crostini followed by the straccetti di vitello and the panna cotta for dessert. Crostini was excellent with folds of prosciutto and creamy stracciatella and shavings of black truffle. The veal was ok, a little tough to the bite but the sauce was flavorful. The panna cotta was a nice finish. Really enjoyed the texture and that it wasn't overly sweet. My companion goes there regularly for the lasagna and she loved every bite (she ate all of it!). She also thoroughly enjoyed the big portion of burrata and tomatoes with a balsamic jam (?). DineLA came with a glass of the house red wine, which was very good. We had a window table in the second room which was the perfect spot. Service was attentive with food pacing and plate clearing. Truly a great authentic Italian dining experience in a cozy environment, suitable for every day or special occasion dining. Fantastic DineLA option I have shockingly never been here before. Shame on me. Came in as a party of 4 for dinner on a Friday. Our entire party opted for the DineLA dinner special. Worked out perfectly for our group that got to order everything we wanted. Of the 4 starters, my personal favorite was the tuna tartare. We were all fighting for that last bite. For our mains, we got 2 pastas a chicken and a fish dish. The spicy penne was my favorite. The fish was a close second. There were only 2 options for dessert so we ended up getting 2 of each. Had this place listed on places I needed to go try, and they had a DineLA menu, so we went to finally check it out. Had a reservation so we were seated right away. The restaurant was pretty crowded, but it was the weekend, so... expected. When our server for to the take, he brought water and we were ready to order. We started with the tuna tartar and the meat balls. The meatballs were bite sized and very moist, with good flavor. A nice bite each time. The tuna tartar was presented very nicely sitting on a bed of avocado which gave it that extra life in terms of flavor. For entrees, the Gnocchetti al Fumo was recommended and, while decent, it really didn't stand out to me. The guanciale pink sauce was good but it just didn't hit like I had hoped based on the enthusiasm of the recommendation. The branzino, likewise, was underwhelming. Just felt very basic and would have loved to have a crispy skin on the fish. As for dessert, the Panna Cotta also felt underwhelming, yet the salame di Cioccolata was different and tasty. Overall, the restaurant, at least the DineLA menu, didn't live up to the expectations I had for the place. I may go back and try a pizza or two but, with so many Italian restaurants in LA, hard to recommend you running out and eating here read more

I celebrated my Birthday here last night with a friend and I had (2) glasses of House Chardonnay with my meal. My friend does not drink, and just had water with his meal. While the food is always good and likewise, the service is great, I was rather shocked when the bill came and I was charged $25 per glass for the House Chardonnay, which was roughly the price of each of our entrees. $50 for (2) rather normal size glasses of an ordinary Chardonnay seems rather steep! I guess the takeaway, is to always inquire about the price of something before you order here (and I would include daily specials in that, too, sine they are just rattled off, and not on any printed material for you to glance at.) I must say as much as I enjoyed the meal, I feel rather "ripped off", and it did not leave a great, lasting impression with me. A cozy spot in Melrose perfect for catching up with friends and family. The spot is not that big, so I recommend reserving a table. The place gets busy at dinner time. Our server was attentive, even if the place was packed that night we were there. Food-wise, I loved what I've ordered. For pasta, I got the Cacio E Pepe (final touches were prepped at the cheese wheel). Their waiter Luigi was so kind and knowledgeable, always changing out our plates and silverware and making sure we were well taken care of. A friend booked dinner reservations for a few of us here and I was intrigued since I hadn't been to Osteria Mamma, but I would quickly wish we hadn't eaten here at all. The service wasn't bad, and the ambiance was cozy (although the restaurant did get a little warm and stuffy). The food was very disappointing, most of it was bland and not that appetizing, paired with the fact it wasn't really worth the prices and it really added to the disappointment. I would skip this place and save yourself the trouble. I could maybe recommend coming here for a drink or something, but even then I think there are many better options in the area. I have yet to receive my refund from Uber Eats, so they're both scamming customers. Do yourself a favor and do not order from here. Also, the food I did get was sub-par.
