I will not bring my business to this establishment again. I read the reviews and saw the pictures and was excited to try a new breakfast spot. I came to try the food by myself and when I walked in, I was told to take a seat at any of the tables to the right. I sat for 5 minutes without anyone acknowledging me. I did not have a menu or water and four waitresses walked by me multiple times. I watched three other parties get menus and water once they were seated. Finally a waitress approached me ( not one of the four) and gave me water and coffee. My waitress was very attentive and she would be the reason for the two stars. I ordered eggs, sausage, hash browns and the fruitopia pancakes. The sausage was over done, hash browns undercooked and my pancakes were burned at the bottom. Not impressed at all. We came in on a Friday at 10:30am and it was pretty busy. We got seated right away but then forgot. Finally after 10 minutes we flagged down a waitress to get our order. She was very nice and took it right away. My mom and I both decided to get a skillet. The food came out pretty fast with the exception on my side of pancakes those came out when I was requesting a box. THe skillet was so dry, from the sounds of it all the ingredients sounds fabulous chicken, potato chunks, corn, onion , and cheese. The chicken was teeny tiny pieces and the potatoes where cubed has brown style that where dropped in a fryer. The combo of those two items and a couple. Spoon fulls of corn made for one dry dish. There was hardly any cheese mixed in. On the top was scrambled eggs . The eggs where okay but the over all dish was a bummer. The waitress did not say anything or ask how the food really was. We paid or bill leaving all the food behind what you see in the pictures is what was left. The menu to this place is very unique so I may give it another try and change my rating. I love the food here and it's close to home. The service could be better. If you put your name in For the wait list make sure you are paying attention. They tell everyone 5-10mins, even if there's 20 parties ahead of you. They tend to sit randomly. Example: Sandy puts her name in, 4 parties back Bobby puts his name in. The host comes up to Bobby and asks if he's sandy, he says sure, he's seated. When I questioned him, he said I'm further down the list and shows me Senny....not my name and he told me yes it is. I think I know my name, I promptly show him my name 5 parties back. I guess my name is now Bob. Oh well, I'll just skip this place for awhile. Shame because it was a weekly breakfast stop. read more

Normal looking diner, first come first serve, no reservations they did call exactly in 20mins like they said. They were able to accommodate our large party. Took a while for the waitress to take our orders but the food came out fast and everything was plated nicely. I got the $10 egg meal that came with two eggs, bacon, potatoes and 2 pancakes. I'm not quite sure where the 'rave reviews' are coming from. They were busy when I got there even after having only been open for an hour at that point, but honestly... I'm not sure why. I say that politely and slightly confused. I ordered $50.00 worth of food for my fam. One of them being only 1 and still it was about $10.00 a plate, but the food was only mediocre at best. It's not like I ordered one meal and am saying it's awful. We had a few to choose from. I got the Eggs Benedict that many spoke about and it was tasteless. Just bland and blah. The egg on top was overdone. My hash browns were undercooked. I had a few that I couldn't even eat. 3 other family members, also got pancakes, two being chocolate chips, which literally just had mini-chocolate-chips sprinkled on top. Why pay for that? The last meal was the chicken Florentine and it was dry and chewy chicken. So, again - lots of food and it wasn't great. I probbbbbably wouldn't go back myself. Three fluffy pancakes topped with banana, strawberries, blueberries and drizzled with chocolate syrup mmmm. Waited another 15 minutes for 30 minutes at this point to ask on status - was told it wasn't done yet. Kept watching orders made and carried to tables. After a little over 40 minutes nothing was said and no food - so ended up leaving the restaurant. Was a big waste of time. After saying it'd be ready in 15 minutes to nothing at nearly triple the time at over 40 minutes. Will not try them out when in the area again - due to this poor service. read more

This place always has me leaving with the most horribly amazing stomach ache because I hate bringing home leftovers-- the portions are huge! I've attached three pictures of past orders: red velvet pancakes with strawberries no whip or powdered sugar, a vegetable egg white omelette with a side of Oreo pancakes and fruit, and a half order of apple cinnamon sauté pancakes w/ a (not pictured) veggie omelette. Other things I've ordered in the past are the bowl of oatmeal order (largest bowl I've ever had in my life) and a red velvet waffle with berries. All good stuff! I really liked the foods, both savory and sweet! Loved the southwestern cause I just love jalapeño, and cannot find a word to explain the crepes... It was kind-of a cheat day for me so probably it tasted better but it's really good I also had some of the most famous red velvet pancake because all of us shared our plates. It is soooooo delicious!! The one star I took off was just because our server wasn't that nice and friendly? She wasn't rude, but definitely not friendly.. 5 stars? I almost never give a restaurant 5 stars. But this place deserves no less. I had finished an early morning appointment and was looking for a quick breakfast and was about to just go to a McDonalds or some other fast food place to just get "fueled." But then I thought that I should find a more diner-like place. I found some nearby delis that looked mildly promising, but on inspection of other Yelp reviews, I saw that they really didn't offer anything special for breakfast. Then I found Jonny Cakes Café. And I looked at the on-line menu. The menu had lots of choices seemingly focused on breakfasts. So although this places location was in the wrong direction for the rest of my travels that morning, it wasn't too far. So I headed there. The place was hopping. I was able to get a small table and I sat down and looked over the printed menu at the restaurant. The printed menu was on the table. My server came by almost immediately and asked if I knew what I wanted. She was attentive and interested, but not pushy. She was a perfect balance. I decided on a Meat Lovers Omelet and decided on home fries as my included side and pancakes as my selected starch. So I ruled out mixed fruit and various breads. I also ordered regular coffee. The waitress brought out the pancakes first and I asked for and got sugar free syrup. The sugar-free syrup was served hot. The pancakes were large, hot and tasty. So far, so good. Then my omelet plate was delivered. They must use at least 3 eggs, because the omelet was large and it was well stuffed. The home fries were nice and crispy and the omelet tasted terrific. The coffee was very good too. I saw that butter and side jellies were already on the table as were all colors of artificial non-sugar sweetener. So I didn't have to ask for anything. So let me summarize: - Great, attentive and fast service - Great menu with lots of breakfast choices - Great omelets - Great home fries - Nice big and hot pancakes - Everything I needed at arms length - Good coffee As far as I can determine, there was not a single thing I would change or want from this place. I found the place on Yelp. The service was great. The menu has a variety of things to try. I ordered the chicken and waffle and my friend the Mexican omelette. The waffle was prepared perfectly, crispy on the outside and tasty on the inside. They served it with warm syrup. The chicken breast nuggets were fried hard like they were purchased from a food services company and reheated in the kitchen. Homemade chicken deserves 5 stars.
