The best catering experience ever. We had Jonny C's cater two back to back events for us. They were amazing to work with. They are flexible and literally cater to the customer's ideas/needs. Jonny C's catered my wedding this past weekend, everything went smoothly and the food tasted great. They managed all their setup without needing a ton of direction, using good common sense and discretion to make sure the buffet was in the right place and hot and fresh when it was time for dinner. I've been to Jonny C's a few times and I think it's safe to say that this is one of the best sandwich places we have in the region. East Amherst is so lucky to have this sandwich/sub place. I'm sure if it was closer I would probably be in here multiple times a week... When I first came into Jonny C's, I didn't really know what to expect, except a long listing of different sub choices. I'm still completely overwhelmed by the full menu. It's about fifty items long, not including wraps and salads. The go-to for me is always chicken so I consumed the Casey the first time I went there. Holy wow, explosion of taste in the mouth. It's chicken and portobello mushrooms/lettuce/other toppings with mayo. It leaves you melting for more, chomping at the bit (literally) for the next bite. The cravings started right after I finished it. Needless to say, a week or two later I was running back in. I thought to myself, "I should try something new and yelp about it" but no, I ran back to Casey and fell into its sinful (oh yes) goodness. After caving in to my desires, I decided to hold off on my review until I tried something else. I stayed true to my word the next time and followed through with a turkey, red pepper and hummus sub. Hummus is my third favorite food ever, so needless to say it was fantastic. The thickening texture of the hummus made it go down quite easily. Yummy yum. Although I'm a chicken fan until my last breath, I think you can trust that any one of their subs is going to be fantastic. Their customer service is stellar (although the where to wait/line situation is slightly awkward), their ingredients are fresh, and they take the time to make your sub super delectable. Go go! I'm really disappointed to have to write this review but after hearing how good this place is I have to say both the sandwiches I tried fell flat. I ordered the chicken parm sub and it was probably the blandest parm sub I've ever had - there wasn't enough sauce or cheese to cover the over cooked cutlet. I ended up having to dump sauce on it when I got home to try to make it remotely tasty. My boyfriend ordered the Casey and he said it was okay but after reading the description I expected it to be extreme flavorful and it was a little bland and sparse - the bread meet end to end to give you some idea of how limited the ingredients were. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt it was around 7:30/7:45pm and they close at 8:30pm so maybe things weren't as fresh or plentiful as they would be during lunch but I still had much higher expectations. read more

I am obsessed with this place! I would have a picture to show but everyone ate scarfed their food in minutes. On a hot summer day what is better than a cold deli sandwich, NOTHING(besides a pool). I love their Park Avenue sandwich consisting of Turkey, bacon, cheese lettuce, tomato and BASIL MAYO. You May have had other flavored mayos but I assure you this is the best Basil mayo you have ever had. I like to smother and cover my sandwich with it. Their portion sizes are huge and make my husband a very happy man. They have like 60 subs to choose from all made with high quality Boars Head deli meat. If you don't know Boars Head, you haven't lived. Other home runs include their chicken cutlets, stuffed Italian hot peppers, potato salad, chicken salad, and I could go on. This shop has the best deli sandwiches around! I personally love a simple roast beef on rye- they use great bread and meat. They also do awesome specialty sandwiches and have a nice assortment of chips and beverages. The people who work there are super nice too. Definitely my favorite lunch spot around! read more

I blame UB for my obsession with Jonny C's, as I used to venture to the one on campus at least once a week. Since that location shut down I try to make my way out to the location in east Amherst frequently. The number 3, I believe it's called the vegetarian, is really good for those of you who don't eat meat. It comes with roasted vegetables and the pesto mayo that's served on the bread is amazing. The Casey is definitely my favorite sandwich though, again probably because of the pesto mayo but hey it's delicious! Sometimes I ask for the chicken cutlet on the Casey instead of the grilled chicken and they're more than happy to accommodate. The only downside is this location is really busy during lunch hours but they're pretty quick! read more

Normally, I love this place. The sandwiches are great and the service is spot-on. Today, however (Friday night), it the service was unbelievably slow. There were three young guys who "working." One socialized with the customer who came after us (knocking over our side orders, but continuing to socialize), another moved so slow, he had to lean his elbows on the cutting board (ew!!) to put his gloves on. Huge menu that is a little overwhelming at first but everything looks fantastic. I'm a New Yorker, and yes, I'm one of those snooty "it's not as good as the REAL thing" people. Jonny C's classics aren't bad at all, but the best part of the pastrami on rye is the rye. That said, I've eaten here something like 10 times in the past few weeks despite my supposed "diet" for a reason. They really shine with their more creative offerings--the #42 (the Ultimate Pizza Sub) is one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. My mouth waters just thinking about it, and I just might get one as soon as I finish this review. This place isn't mind-blowing, but it easily beats other area sandwich shops now that Nosh is gone. The quality and prices are better than Jim's Steak-Out--if it were open late like Jim's, I'd probably be here at least twice a week until my doctor (or my heart) kills me. I am sorry, I have to pick up my brain from the floor. One moment. Okay, that's better. That happens when your mind is blown. Like what I did there? Okay, moving on...The Pittsburgh. Oh my Lord, the Pittsburgh. Steak, Provolone, Tomato, Mayo, FRIES and coleslaw. I opted out of the coleslaw on this one but let me just say this has to be the clear winner of any steak sub that I have had anywhere ever. I don't know if it was the steak, if it was the perfectly toasted roll, the fries or the mish-mosh combination of all of the ingredients that made me want to bronze this thing and put it on my mantle. All I know is that I am going to have a very difficult time trying any other sub at this point. I mean, I will do it, because I owe it to Yelp and its reviewers, but I do not know where you can go from here with any other subs. If the bar is at the ceiling, can another sub break through the ceiling....? Only time and 13,000 future calories can tell. read more

Ordered two subs for takeout, service was fast and friendly. My wife had a #15 cubano was delicious. I had a #41 Pittsburgh sub and it was also delicious. Whoever said pricey doesn't know what lunch-meat costs. $10.50 for a full whatever it is you want and you get what I'd say is 1.5lbs+ of lunch-meat, then add cheese, bread, toppings and about 10lbs of flavor. Their stuff is great and yummy, and you get a lot of meat for your lunch money. Now don't get me wrong.. I'm trying to cross sandwiches off the list so I don't just order "A whole kosher, small onion rings please". I've gotten some Jonny Cs and Johnny C+s from there, but I've never felt like what I got wasn't a good sub or sandwhich. My problem is I'm chasing the dragon that is finding somehting that compares to the Kosher... Good luck all read more

I tried this deli last year and was told after I called to complain about it, that someone made my food that wasn't a regular worker there. The Fish Fry was totally burnt to a crisp as well as the french fries, when I asked for it to be fried "light." It was so saturated with grease I had to throw it all away. I also ordered a hot grilled chicken sandwich parm on a toasted bun. I got instead cold sliced chicken on a cold bun with very little sauce and very little cheese. So cold and dry I had to throw it away as well. I called and the owner sent me a coupon to try again. I tried the Fish Fry last week and the fish was perfect, light like I asked for. I went again today and ordered just 2 Fish Fried as light as they could get it, with no fries this time, and when I got home the fish was so dark and crispy I couldn't eat the batter. I can't have a lot of grease so I order it light. I called the owner and he said he made it the same as last week, but 1 was fine and the other burnt to a crisp. I told him I can't eat the batter now, just the fish and his reply was "I'm sorry." Well, I think because I'm a senior and disabled in a wheelchair, complained once and can't eat certain foods these days that he made it very well done on purpose. I will NEVER go back again and I truly think he did that on purpose so I won't return, because that was my complaint last year. I guess he just wants the regular folk that can eat anything put on their plate. read more

Pretty good Beef on Weck. That is all I'm commenting about. Staff is friendly and personable. You feel like a valued customer. We got a dry beef on weck and we asked for rare as possible. They delivered on both. They gave us side of horseradish and au jus sauce on the side no problem. Bun was fresh and "wecky". Meat was thick and good. These are on the expensive side for sandwich, but it too much for one person to eat... probably just right for an average American. oink oink. read more

Be ready to wait 25 minutes for your order. I went there to oder two sandwichs. Walk in there was no body in line or waiting for an order. As I waited for my order more people came in and placed orders. I finally asked what was taking so long and the person up front asked what I order. I told her and she turned around and there sat my sandwichs. Been sitting there for 15mins. So unorganized.
