As much as I liked going to this place, their customer service is trash. No matter what time or day of the week I go in, there's always one specific cashier that's talking to her coworkers as soon as I'm about to order. There have been multiple times that she's done this. What a warm and welcoming little gem. I've never been to San Marcos outside of the outlet mall so when a client suggested we meet halfway (between Austin and where she lives) I took to google searching for a comfy cafe and viola! The barista cashier was adorable and musically savvy. We had a nice chat about bands. The coffee is excellent, not bitter all freshly roasted and aromatic. The mood inside the cafe is chill SF style. 4 Coffee- Creative but they could use some guidance on their cappuccino and latte skills (and temperature). What's your favorite candy bar? Some genius (or complete stoner) has managed to combine flavored syrups, or chocolate or vanilla into blends that resemble serveral different famous candy bars most of us already know! How cool is that?! Also, they make drinks with cow, almond or soy milk. Down side is they only have medium to large sized cups, and the cups are styrofoam. 5 Ambiance- Local artists' art work on display. Love the black cats! Interesting, cute and abstract. Other than the art, the furniture and decor is minimalistic, creating an immaculate space to sip and lounge. The bathroom is really dim, making a good scenario for them, so no one spends anytime in there, I suppose? 5 Cleanliness- The place has almost been open an entire year and looks like who ever is in charge of keeping the dust out and so on, is doing their job, like a good owner or employee. It's super clean! Round of applause! 4 Customer Service- Sweet, good natured (or appear to be) doing the job. I think they are doing okay; good work, kids! It's so confusing in this little town, if you combined two of the coffee shops, you would get a solid 5 star place. Add some foam, latte and cappuccino making skills along with an 8 oz or 12 oz cup and maybe a quick tutorial on how to serve your customer and make them feel welcome while not having a conversation with their friend behind the counter and this place would be a 5. This is a good place to stop if you have plenty of time. Three tacos took about 55 minutes. I was reasonably irritated, and they didn't even apologize. They were out of the most important taco ingredient too! Potatoes! I wouldnt reccomend this place unless you're just buying a regular drip coffee. I love Jo's with all my heart! I go here all the time! The atmosphere is so cute, the food is delicious, and the coffee is scrumptious. They have coffees inspired by candy bars. I like the almond joy best, then the sugar daddy, and then Milky Way. I like them iced best. There are lots of options to make your own breakfast tacos and burritos, but my favorite food item is the coffee cake-cinnamon roll hybrid or the caprese panini with tomato, cheese, and pesto. read more

Love this place. Walking distance for many residents and university students. All kinds of folks flow through here daily. All visits I have enjoyed. Have yet to try breakfast which is raved. Styrofoam cups a bummer, but maybe I'll just bring my own mug next time. I received such a welcome as one of first customers on an early weekday morning. I mused watching the barista carry genuine dialogue with each customer- everyone patiently awaiting their turn with a curious ear for her witty exchanges with each. This place is amazing!!! My new favorite coffee house in San Marcos, for sure :) me and my girlfriend got three tacos between us, along with an iced toddy. All were delicious!!! The salsa is great as well, and the mixed veggies they put on the tacos included zucchini, which I love :D our friend got a panini, which she also raves about, though I didn't try it myself :) it's a LITTLE pricey, but you have to expect that when going to a small, local business :) The cashier who took our order was super nice, she helped us figure out what we wanted and even helped us stay within our restrictive budget :P sorry to people who had a bad experience, but honestly it feels like some people are just looking for a bad time. Coffee is pretty good! However, the breakfast burrito I ordered came with completely raw potatoes. The woman working could have just told me to pick something besides potato. So the coffee isn't that bad (it's overpriced) but story time I had to wait 45 mins for one simple breakfast taco this morning, which was insanely greasy!! It was bad, barley ate half of it. I had the turkey club which was fabulous, for extra "messiness" I added a fried egg on - yum! I'm not entirely sure, chipotle or something, what the sauce was but it was great. It was served on grilled panini bread was perfect and you could tell it was homemade and very fresh. Overall I give the sandwich 5 stars. I have to note that it was absolutely freezing inside, the ac was on with it being 41 outside - the girl working there noticed I put my coat on and turned it off. Likely an oversight when someone tried to turn on the heater. The was super nice and very perky, very pleasant - for this I would give a 4 star. Before we left the snickers latte was calling my name, it was brewed fresh, right then and very tasty. It could have been about 10 degrees hotter though - I only drank half before it was completely cold and tossed the rest. (Went shopping, no microwave) for this I would give a 3 star. read more
