This place was super cute and VERY popular. We had coffee, breakfast burrito, breakfast sandwich, and a homemade pop tart. Our food was decently good, the salsas with he burrito were super tasty and the bacon I added was a key bonus. Breakfast sandwich was pretty good - basic. Honestly, the best part for my boyfriend was the handmade pop tart/hand pie. It was so good, flaky crust, tasty filling. It was so good, we tried to go back the next day only to find out they had sold out which sent us on a quest to find something similar nearby. My latte was served warm which is how I prefer my coffee and tacos were very delicious. The service I got there was fantastic and there was plenty of seating inside and out if you wanted to dine in. Came here with a friend I was visiting. Cute stand with plenty of seating, especially if you walk to the back left of the stand! I got the Belgian Bomber since I wanted a less sweet drink. Good, but nothing special, and slightly watery. I didn't feel like the coffee and other additions tasted as fresh as my drink from Summer Moon the day before. First, this places is extremely over hyped. The food is less than mediocre and the coffee is disgusting. I don't know why this place is rated top coffee places because the coffee is nasty. Second, I ordered 2 bacon, egg, & cheese tacos, and 3 of the fried eggs sandwiches.... My son loves bacon but the food was very bland. Also my son ended up vomiting up all of his food. I'm not sure what they put in their tacos and sandwiches but my son never had issues with eggs or bacon but whatever it was it up set his stomach to the point he threw it all up. This place is super over priced, $9 for a bacon egg cheese sandwich is ridiculous. I can but 4 cartons of eggs and a pack of bacon for $9. Over I'm disgusted with this place, the person taking my order had dirty finger nails. So I don't think this place is the cleanest which is a turn off especially with Covid. We came around noon to Jo's and there wasn't too long of a wait to order (maybe 5 minutes) There is a lot of seating options (inside and outside) so we sat outside because we could move/combine tables with our friends. I got the potato taco and the local legend beer. The potato taco could have had more flavor, but they a variety of hot sauces that you could put on it. The avocado toast was good, but the eggs were a little too runny for me (more runny than the eggs on a Benedict). If you choose to come here, definitely budget some time because it took a great deal of time for our food to come out. read more

I have been a few times to both get some coffee and eat. This place is describes Austin in a nutty shell with artwork, unique design, and great atmosphere. The food is quite good and so was the coffee. There is seating inside and outside. Outdoor seating is nice where you can watch people walk by and enjoy the outdoors. This is a downtown street business so they have no parking so best place to park is at City Hall. This recent visit was to grab a cup of coffee to go. Jo's has consistently good coffee and I've stopped in many times for a quick cup. They are well known for their Iced Turbo which is their twist on an iced coffee. It's good but he warned its very sweet. Yesterday we decided to stay a bit and order food which we were disappointed in. We ordered the nachos, a burger, and the turkey sandwich. The nachos came out cold and we did not finish them. One of the workers later admitted that they had left the nachos sitting in the kitchen for a while because they have been told not to bring out any food until the full order is prepared. The turkey sandwich was nothing special -- could have made the same thing at home. They listed the sandwich as coming with avocado, but don't expect any slices here. The sandwich has a VERY thin spread of mashed avocado that you could not taste. The burger was very greasy and soaked all of the toppings in grease. Would not recommend. On a positive note, the fries were great! In short, I would recommend Jo's for a quick drink but would not suggest sticking around for a full meal. read more

Jo's is located in a very pleasant neighborhood. We stopped in for a quick breakfast before heading down to the river. There was a line but it moved fairly quickly. Placed my order and took a seat on the front patio. The menu here is fairly extensive. And you can also order beer and wine if that's to your liking. I had an iced turbino to help with the heat of the day. I also had a Miga breakfast taco. It's a small taco filled with scrambled eggs, bacon bits and potato. We came to Jo's specifically for breakfast on NYE 2019. The menu states extended holiday breakfast hours. The lady directly in front of us was allowed to order breakfast. When our turn to order came up, we were informed that regular breakfast hours applied and we could only order lunch. Note, the lady in front of us ordered her breakfast after their normal breakfast hours (ends at 11, yet she ordered at 11:07) #inconsistent with your service and stated policies (breakfast served later on holidays). All I really wanted to do was run to the bathroom. But the strong aromas of the food here got the best of my stomach's cries, so I eventually gave in. When my eyes wandered on the menu, the Mushroom Patty Melt was the very first thing that caught my eye and I went with in. I didn't think much when I ordered it--I love almost anything and everything in the fungi family tree, so naturally, I knew it couldn't be bad no matter what. Let me tell you, this was absolutely delicious and probably one of the most memorable food experiences in my short time in Austin--beef patty with melted (READ: STRINGY) swiss cheese, topped with mushrooms, sandwiched with Texas toast breads and herb aioli spread--it was amazing. Granted, I felt like shit afterwards but it was worth it. It was juicy, flavorful, and the toast was cooked perfectly and the herb aioli went well with the mushrooms. If this had potato buns, I think I'd be overwhelmed but since it was on a toast, it wasn't heavy and was just the right amount of food I needed to refuel since I'd been walking around Downtown Austin for hours. A bit pricey for the sandwich itself ($10.50), which doesn't come with any sides. The outside seating is really nice and chill, especially for people watching, but beware of the pigeons since the trees hang above the seats and you can see pigeon droppings on the tables and chairs. I came here in search for their pink beet latte. I got sidetracked by their turbo iced coffee. Turbo is pre-made, I was disappointed. I guess I expected consistency in every fresh cup made. We only had to wait behind one person and there already were a few people at the tables/bars drinking their mornin' jo. We made our order (latte, stroopwafels!, and a mimosa) and sat at the bar (all outside obviously). There were quite a few people that followed, and not many with masks; also, the tables were very close to each other (not us - we were in a fairly separated spot), and lots of dogs in a small area, so lots of close contact. I'm not sure if outdoor seating qualifies as requiring masks, or when they need to be worn, but given that the tables were very close, it seems like at least that should have been adjusted a bit. I've heard great things about Jo's. It was a relatively hot day when I went in. I was shopping around the 2nd street area and needed a cold drink. Decided to stop in and grab a quick drink. When I walked in, it was empty. There were a couple tables with one or two people but otherwise empty. The counter to order was also not attended to, so I had to wait a couple minutes which gave me time to look at the menu. I decided on an iced tea since it was a little late for caffeine. I ended up ordering the hibiscus tea - unsweetened. When I first got the tea, it was, I kid you not, full of ice. If I took out the ice, I'm sure that it would be only half a cup of actual tea. For a $3.00+ tea, that's pretty hefty. The tea itself wasn't the most flavorful, and I had to add some honey and sugar in order to make it taste better.
