We did not realize there were two different locations. We first went to the other location and they were really busy. It had an older feel to it and I am not a fan of the layout. I did not know how it worked to find a table because there were no open tables or staff available. When we finally found a table to sit, there was no one to get us menus and the one staff we saw was busy helping a few other tables. We got frustrated so we left. I saw a couple other customers leave during that time as well. They really need more people working and I am surprised they have such high ratings. At the second location on Plumb Ln, they were crazy busy as well, but they had a manager managing to help speed up cleaning tables and finding tables that were empty for anyone that came in. It felt a lot more welcoming than the first location. As we were waiting, the interior is more modern and has high ceilings which makes it feel a lot more open and comfortable. The wait was about 20 minutes. Once we got a table, our server did not get our drink or food orders for a while. She was busy. I ordered the Fresh Mushroom and Spinach Omelet and it was good; however, everything else on the plate was not visually appetizing or tasted as good as the omelet. My boyfriend ordered the Hungry Man Waffle Combo which come with 2 waffles, 2 eggs, 2 pieces of bacon, and 2 pieces of sausage. He did the get the sausage and was given 2 extra pieces of bacon instead. This is fine, but we wish someone notified him of the swap. Not sure why they did not have any more sausage either. Overall, I would not come back because both locations are out of the way, and the service and food was not at the level that makes me want to go back. read more

We haven't been here in a long time and unfortunately won't be back. Service is very slow. My drink wasn't ice tea but some flavored tea that was very sweet. I ordered the eggs Benedict and was so disappointed. The potatoes were cold, the eggs overcooked and I couldn't cut through the muffin. My friend ordered the grilled eggplant and the sandwich had about 5 times as much bread as eggplant. We used to love this place. Not any more. The only reason I have given 2 stars is because our servers were nice and the manager came out and told me I wouldn't be charged for the meal. read more

Waited 15 minutes for lattes while we noticed the table next to us that sat down after us get served theirs. Ordered a chorizo omelette and it was the worst I've ever had. Obviously pre-batched scrambled egg patty with a pile of dry old and not hot chorizo folded into it. What a joke. I didn't complain but when the waitress asked if I wanted a box for it I said "no way". She walked away and in their defense, didn't charge me for the entree. But also she didn't ask anything, didn't offer any apology or even an explanation of the no-charge. Strange behavior. I'm guessing they get my reaction more than you can tell by reading the reviews here. No manager so speak of or see. Understaffed and underwhelming people. New ownership seems to be turn and burn mentality. Don't think I'll be headed to Bricks any time soon either as I understand he owns that now. A girlfriend invited me to breakfast here and from my previous experience I knew they had no specific GF items... but perusing the online menu there were omelettes which I figure are gluten free so agreed to come. This restaurant is located in the doomed prior Rattlesnake Club restaurant...Open and nice outdoor where we sat. I ordered a peach lemonade. Super sweet upon first sip then settled into a refreshing beverage. Ordered black jam omelette with cheddar instead of Swiss. Came with potatoes and she did offer me corn tortillas instead of non gluten free toast., CORN TORTILLAS??? Can you make some breakfast tacos on your menu!! Because all I did was put my omelette into the tortillas and it was DELICIOUS! The tortillas are just warmed but the cheese egg and ham was excellent. Unfortunately comes smothered in hollandaise sauce which I was able to scrape most of it off. I simply didn't like the potatoes very much. I had to put a generous helping of salt and pepper on them, they had sort of a dull onion taste and I hate onions but they were also sort of bland I dunno.... THIS location is a wonderful little place. I took the hubby's aunt out to try both Josef's locations, this was our second day out. Location isn't super convenient for me, but well worth the trip. The staff is so friendly and helpful and service was excellent. We sat outside on the patio and had a lovely brunch. The blended chai has to be one of my favorite things! Any pastry I've tried has been simply divine, and the pastry cream is silky and luxurious. The creamy breakfast sando is amazing! So much melty havarti make is so ooey gooey good. A friend of mine and I went to the Joseph's on Plum Lane. It was quite roomy and there's patio seating. It was pretty tasty. We had omelettes and there was plenty of food. Their desserts look good on our way out but some of my experience at the other restaurant on Moana I have had not great success at that store. This was the second visit our group made to Josef's and it was just as good as the first. Both times we were lucky enough to have Leslie as our server. Today I had the shrimp tacos on the daily special menu. They were absolutely delicious. It was just the three tacos on the plate and I thought I wasn't going to be able to eat them all but I was wrong! Each bite was so full of flavor that I just kept going back! Another special was the Salmon Eggs Benedict that 2 people at our table ordered and the presentation was so pretty you almost didn't want to cut into it plus they said it was delicious. I can't wait for my next visit because I have my eye on the mushroom spinach crepes. The space offers inside and outside seating along with the awesome bakery in the front. Stopped by Josef's Vienna Bakery and Cafe recently and had one of those easy, relaxed meals where you end up staying longer than planned. The interior has that cozy European café feel people mention, warm and a little old school in the best way. We had been looking for a new place to try for brunch and Josef's on Plumb was suggested to us by a friend, who joined us for a mid-morning Sunday brunch. We sat ourselves per their request, with lots of options for seating (high and low 2-tops, low 4- to 6-tops, and patio seating), and were brought some menus shortly thereafter. We requested some waters and asked the server about some of the menu items, which she was incredibly helpful with. We put in our drink orders and finally decided on some food items to order (lots of great breakfast and lunch options to choose from), which our food order was take by a different server. Our food and drinks were brought out by separate food/drink runners while our server(s) were helping with other tables. The food and drinks were delicious! We had some vanilla lattes, a breve latte, and tried the green apple mimosa, made with fresh squeezed green apple juice - a unique and refreshing option for a mimosa! The mixed berry crepes were large and filled with berries and whipped cream. The smoked salmon Benedict was incredibly flavorful with the charred asparagus, sautéed spinach, poached eggs, hollandaise, balsamic drizzle, and capers atop brioche bread. The waffles were quite simple but still yummy. Unfortunately, our server(s) did not come back to check on us and we had to flag someone down for more water and for our check after our plates had been cleared for quite some time. First time at this location but won't be the last. Also, first time trying the berry waffles. Two large waffles with yogurt and tons of berries between them. Seriously so many berries it was amazing. With fresh coffee it was such a great start to the day. My wife had the French toast combo: toast, two eggs and sausage links, with coffee of course! Service was quick and follow up was as well. This location has high ceilings and maybe a little more room than the Moana restaurant. Still the same great food. Least I forget the desserts. Seems like we never get out the door without something. Let me tell you about the Yule Log cake that I bought at Josef. Here are the pictures I took, and I was so disgusted at how it fell apart in front of my guest for Christmas Day dinner dessert . They say a picture speaks a 1000 words well here's a 1001. This is not the first time a had trouble with their cakes. When I moved her four years ago I needed a birthday cake, and was told to go to Josef. What a mistake that was. So I let it slide and didn't say a word. First time at this location. Very spacious inside with plentiful parking. Patio overlooks the parking lot but looks like they are working on making it more attractive. Bakery is located at the entrance and they offer some wonderful looking treats. We had mimosas, eggs Benedict and berry crepes. This is my second time to visit the new location. I took my husband after my physical therapy appointment. We tried the Apple Mimosa, which they make with a machine to squeeze the green apple juice. They're so good! A must try. The special was the steak omelette that my husband ordered. The steak was super tender and the flavors melted into your mouth with each bite with the hollandaise sauce on the top and inside the omelette. I had the Waffle Combo with scrambled eggs and two sausage links. The waffle comes with honey butter and warm syrup which was a nice blend. The sausage was flavorful and the eggs were fluffy. Pretty exceptional experience at Josef's Vienna Bakery & Cafe on Plumb. If you enter through the little mall, you walk into the bright and clean bakery, which then opens up to a spacious restaurant with high ceilings, a bar, and ample outdoor seating (surrounded by a parking lot, so not the most scenic, but the wide stone water fountain they have there creates a nice ambience). What really set this place apart for us was the quality of the food. My wife got a green apple juice (they must have a juicer in the back, since it came out frothy and very fresh), and I got a black coffee. On its own the coffee was fine, but I found it complemented my food especially well. I ordered the French baked eggs with applewood smoked bacon . . . and I did not know to expect what might be one of the best things I've ever eaten. It came out with perfectly cut and toasted rye soldiers (I ordered them unbuttered), a brimming cup of ripe fresh fruit, and the baked eggs in a small bowl, surrounded by shredded/chipped bacon and a sumptuous egg broth. With the first dipped soldier, I was a little stunned at the flavor. I wasn't even that hungry, but the depth and richness of the bacon and egg broth--neither too salty nor heavy--honestly surprised me. If I'm ever on death row, this will be what I order for my last meal. We were a bit overwhelmed by the interesting selections on the menu and in the pastry case up front, so we'll definitely be back to try more options (or maybe just order the same thing over and over again). read more

Finally had the opportunity to check out the new location and I love it! Much more spacious, better parking lot, and better outdoor patio than the original location. It is self seating but we easily found a nice spot in the shade outside. Consistent with the other location, they always seem to run slightly understaffed. We still had good service, but the waiter seemed overwhelmed and I think they could use more help. We got the lattes which are my favorite! Such a yummy treat with the foam and sprinkled topping. We've come here several times now and it's been hit and miss. For the most part the breakfasts have been good. There are definitely several things to choose from. On one breakfast excursion we chose a muffin from the bakery and it was brought to the table. It was clearly not baked that day or even the day before as it was stale. On their "Special" menu they have something called a "Tenderloin Sandwich". What came out was a hamburger. The person at the next table also ordered it and had a just as puzzled look on her face as I did. It's a hamburger. When I imagine a tenderloin sandwich I expect sliced pieces of beef. If the patty is made with tenderloin, which is debatable, then say that it is a "tenderloin patty". It was a tasty hamburger, but a tenderloin sandwich it was not. The main reason for my 3 star review is the service. I would call it lacking. We had coffee with our breakfasts on this last visit and while the waitress came by to bring us our food and presumably could have seen the lack of coffee in my cup that was sitting at the edge of the table I was not offered another cup until it was time to leave. I heard about a new Josef's Vienna Bakery & Cafe opening a few months ago but it slipped my mind until we came back from a vacation in France and needed to ease the pain of being back in the states. My wife made the suggestion and we both jumped on it. They have a very nice patio. With both bar height tables and many standard tables. We came in with some iced coffees that we had picked up earlier and they were nice enough to accommodate us by giving us glasses. The server was quick on the spot and very attentive, checking in numerous times. I ordered up the Lobster Benedict as soon as I saw it on the menu. My wife Found the French Baked Eggs. We added a fine mimosa to share making a very pleasant meal. Not sure what process they do to cook their eggs for the benedict, but they were perfectly shaped and cooked. I would eat these eggs every day if I could. My wife enjoyed her French Baked Eggs. I think I may try those next time if I am able to resist re-ordering the Lobster Benedict. Reno has many Brunch Places....but the best seem to not last.
