THIS location is a wonderful little place. I took the hubby's aunt out to try both Josef's locations, this was our second day out. Location isn't super convenient for me, but well worth the trip. The staff is so friendly and helpful and service was excellent. We sat outside on the patio and had a lovely brunch. The blended chai has to be one of my favorite things! Any pastry I've tried has been simply divine, and the pastry cream is silky and luxurious. The creamy breakfast sando is amazing! So much melty havarti make is so ooey gooey good. I'd have it again and again.

Stopped by Josef's Vienna Bakery and Cafe recently and had one of those easy, relaxed meals where you end up staying longer than planned. The interior has that cozy European café feel people mention, warm and a little old school in the best way. It's not trying to be trendy, more of a neighborhood spot with a bakery counter, the smell of fresh pastries, and a comfortable, lived in vibe. It can get a bit busy, but it still feels welcoming. Service was great. Friendly, patient, and attentive without being over the top. Even when things picked up, we never felt overlooked, and everything moved along smoothly. It felt genuine, which really fits the overall atmosphere. For food, we had the chicken fried steak and the quiche with tomato soup. The chicken fried steak was hearty and satisfying, and the quiche was lighter but still full of flavor. The tomato soup paired really well with it and tied everything together. It's the kind of place you come to for comforting, well made food, and we'll definitely be back.

First time at this location but won't be the last. Also, first time trying the berry waffles. Two large waffles with yogurt and tons of berries between them. Seriously so many berries it was amazing. With fresh coffee it was such a great start to the day. My wife had the French toast combo: toast, two eggs and sausage links, with coffee of course! Service was quick and follow up was as well. This location has high ceilings and maybe a little more room than the Moana restaurant. Still the same great food. Least I forget the desserts. Seems like we never get out the door without something. This time it was six flavors of macarons. Fantastic is all I can say. Drop in to either location for breakfast, brunch or lunch and be sure to take home a sweet treat.

Delicious food with friendly and efficient service in an airy and updated environment. Good for brunch and lunch occasions with groups of 2-4 or solo. The cafe side has a mix of two and four high and low tops, and some counter seating. No need for a reservation and you seat yourself (at least the Sunday we visited).

Great bakery/restaurant with a ton of space and all of the yummy sweets you could ask for! We came in for brunch and had a few mimosas, eggs Benedict and the berry crepes. All of the food was wonderful! Service was a bit slow, but friendly, and the interior is really nice!

First time at this location. Very spacious inside with plentiful parking. Patio overlooks the parking lot but looks like they are working on making it more attractive. Bakery is located at the entrance and they offer some wonderful looking treats. We had mimosas, eggs Benedict and berry crepes. The breakfast potatoes with the Benedict was delicious and it was also served with a little pastry, which was a nice touch but it was dry and tasteless so we didn't eat it. Everything else was very good and we will be back

Was convinced by a friend to try this place in the midst of a whole bunch of runaround errands The service was professional and quick, and it's not really a complaint to say there were too many amazing choices on the menu I ended up going with something that I cannot easily produce at home a chicken fried steak and it and the potatoes that came with it were some of the best I had ever had My friends food was a bagel and smoked salmon and looked delightful The ceiling is high and the space is huge and is surprisingly chill in a really great way

The Yule Log cake in question.
    Matthew Y.

Let me tell you about the Yule Log cake that I bought at Josef. Here are the pictures I took, and I was so disgusted at how it fell apart in front of my guest for Christmas Day dinner dessert . They say a picture speaks a 1000 words well here's a 1001. This is not the first time a had trouble with their cakes. When I moved her four years ago I needed a birthday cake, and was told to go to Josef. What a mistake that was. So I let it slide and didn't say a word. Well, I really needed to find a Yule Log and unfortunately no bakeries make them around here except for this bakery. So I thought I'd give it a try I had no other choice. That was a mistake a $50 mistake save your money and go to one of the casino bakeries. Much better.

This is my second time to visit the new location. I took my husband after my physical therapy appointment. We tried the Apple Mimosa, which they make with a machine to squeeze the green apple juice. They're so good! A must try. The special was the steak omelette that my husband ordered. The steak was super tender and the flavors melted into your mouth with each bite with the hollandaise sauce on the top and inside the omelette. I had the Waffle Combo with scrambled eggs and two sausage links. The waffle comes with honey butter and warm syrup which was a nice blend. The sausage was flavorful and the eggs were fluffy. I liked it better than the French toast. We look forward to coming back. Easy access to park and it's seat yourself when you go in. The service is impressive and the patio looks inviting when Spring arrives.

Oh boy am I SO EXCITED that they opened this new location! Love love love. I have been a Josef's customer for many years but have felt like the og location was a little overwhelming and chaotic when I went in. This new location though - BEAUTIFUL! Very simple but much more open with a large patio to sit on also! The service has been great both times I have come while the restaurant continues to stay busy. Food is priced well and appropriate and SO YUMMY! I haven't had a dish I haven't liked yet. The bagel sandwich with a hazelnut latte AND mixed berry crepes - THE PERFECT COMBO. They also offer many different fresh baked pastries, breads, and desserts (cookies, cakes); that can be pre-ordered for a special occasion. A go-to spot for brunch that I never regret and you won't either!

I'm just so confused, see AI info from RGJ about a dedicated gluten free bakery... but when I went in and asked they said no such thing exists ... and pointed me to macaroons which were cute but I don't like macaroons. Ladies working were very nice so I got myself a hot chocolate. It was okay. My dogs liked their peanut butter biscuit and it was nice and soft. I have no reason to return unfortunately but the place was packed and it smelled good, with cute and yummy looking treats that I can't have.

Josef's is a local treasure for amazing breakfast food. I stopped in about a week ago for breakfast. The delicious smell of the bakery hits you as you walk through the door like the memory of a joyful yet forgotten childhood. Their baked goods are treasures and works of art in their own right but I had to skip that for breakfast. In the dining room the heavenly smells from the kitchen entice you to want to try everything. I ordered the Lobster Benedict This dish was nothing short of amazing. The eggs were cooked to perfection the lobster was spectacular and the potatoes were fluffy and prefect. The mini Danish was a nice finish Their coffee is on point, more European bistro style than American diner. This is a solid breakfast or lunch spot! Service is stellat

The BBQ Pork Bun was good with nice flavor. I would order it again, especially since I don't know of many other places in Reno where I can get one of my favorite dim sum items. The Minced Pork Dumplings, however, were not for us. I believe the flavor of the Chinese leek may have been what turned us off. As for the Napoleon, it wasn't very sweet or particularly flavorful, and it made quite a mess to eat. Not something I'd reorder. The Sui Mai was delicious, and I would definitely order it again. This was the winner of our take home feast. While not everything was a hit for us, we'd return for the Sui Mai and BBQ Pork Buns and other explore some other items that we have yet to try.

YELP REVIEW PROMPT…read more Checked on Yelp for a dessert spot that I haven't tried before. Sierra Nevada Creamery and Bakery was a quick four minute walk from our lunch spot so we thought why not! It's located right next to the Pioneer Center for Performing Arts and has a very small parking area. There are restaurants on either side so there is also street parking. It was a warm day so I decided on a double scoop in a cup, one pistachio and one sea salt caramel. The double scoop was huge, definitely no skimping and only $10. There was one person ahead of us and then tons of people piled in after we did so we got there at a really good time! There was only employee working (I think he may have been the owner). I felt so bad because it was just him and he had a line almost out the door but if he was stressed he did not show it. He was friendly and so professional. The inside is pretty small but there some places to sit and if the inside is full the grass area right outside isn't a bad place to enjoy your treats. I would recommend for sure and I definitely want to go back and try a chocolate chip cookie. Things to note: Read his story on the ice cream menu. I enjoyed it and that is what makes me want to return to try the chocolate chip cookie.

I was surprised to see this place as I've driven by this strip of businesses many times and never noticed this particular spot. They offer homemade treats, but mostly ice cream. They have an almost unmatched selection of non-dairy ice creams and sorbets. A nice surprise. The gentleman helping us was very nice and gave us a full rundown of how they make everything in house. He offered samples and suggestions. I sampled the flavor of the week, Lavender Honey Matcha, and the coconut cream coffee. My kids decided on the mango sorbet and the classic strawberry. Everything was delicious. The coconut cream ice cream had great flavor and texture given that it was non dairy. My wife and I decided on the matcha flavor of the week. It was very refreshing. The strawberry had real chunks of strawberry which is always a treat. My biggest critique is the texture of the ice cream. This stuff seemed very crumbly. I prefer a much more "chewy" or "sticky" ice cream if that makes sense. This stuff was more "dry" and less "creamy". There are some other local shops in the area that make great ice cream exactly how I like it, which is the only reason for 4 stars. I'm not sure this would be my top place for ice cream again. The smallest "one scoop" size is actually nearly two full scoops. Could be a good thing for some, but a kids scoop is always appreciated for my toddlers, especially a a slightly discounted price. That is not an option here. There are a few small tables inside to enjoy your treats and lots of to-go options which is always nice. The place was clean and well decorated. It was steadily busy while we visited, indicating that this place is likely here to stay. Overall, worth stopping in if you're in the area. The flavors are unique and tasty and the non-dairy selection is fantastic.

I love watching the people and cars go by in Midtown while enjoying a great meal. We started with drinks. I ordered the Limoncello Spritz, and wow--it was absolutely out of this world! My husband ordered the Chardonnay, and owner Claudio explained that it's made in the traditional Italian style. Instead of being buttery like many California Chardonnays, it's slightly sweeter and very smooth. After trying my cocktail, my husband decided to order a Limoncello Spritz too, and he ended up enjoying it even more than the wine. We skipped the appetizers and salads and went straight to the main event. I ordered the mushroom ravioli, which I had been dreaming about all day. It was light, delicate, and packed with incredible flavor. My husband, who is from New Zealand, chose the lamb chops. They were cooked to perfection, so tender you could cut them with a butter knife. He paired them with the asparagus risotto, which was delicious but a little heavy alongside the lamb. We ended up taking some home, and next time I'd recommend pairing the lamb with a salad instead. To finish, we shared the large ricotta cannoli topped with chocolate chips. It was heavenly, light, creamy, and it practically melted in our mouths.
