I was excited to try this place because I love Eggs Benny's and they had multiple options on the menu. Full disclosure I'm a snob about hollandaise sauce because for me that's the benchmark for a good Benny. This one was a little disappointing to be honest. Not really any flavor to it. With that being said there were other items on the menu that looked good, so I'm definitely going to give it another chance, because the service was good and I love to support local restaurants. Can't really find a fault with this hole-in-the-wall-ish breakfast and lunch place. The food is good! Lots of Benedicts and omelets on the menu, and everything we've had here is tasty and thoughtfully made. They occasionally have creative seasons additions to the menu, but the old standbys, like their huevos rancheros and their coffee drinks, are solid and consistent. Service and atmosphere are chill and pleasant; light holiday music in the background adds to the vibe without being intrusive. It feels somewhat like you've stepped back in time here, in a good way. You could be put off by the dated interior and concrete floors, but I think it adds to the charm. Little cafe in the Safeway parking lot. Went in here to have lunch and it's kinda divey and small with about 8 or so tables packed into a rectangular space. Service was kinda lukewarm, our server was a man of very few words but he was fast and efficient. Got the French Dip with Swiss and my co worker got the biscuits and gravy. This being one of his favorite places to order it. French dip was good, fries were hot and crispy, meal was inexpensive, not much else to say. read more

If you want super casual, delicious, and reasonably priced breakfast...look no further. This is a perfect example of a neighborhood, locally run breakfast spot, serving American and Mexican classics. Everything I've had here has been spot-on comfort food, and the daily specials are really good value. Friendly, quick service, and serving fresh coffee and fresh OJ...hard to ask for more. You might not have high expectations for a cafe diner nestled in a business strip mall, but this place absolutely delivers! Exceptional service, kind and efficient servers, and most importantly the food was fantastic. The cafe theme and food itself has colombian inspiration and Westside has a great selection of coffee beans they use to make delicious coffee drinks (you can also buy the beans in bulk). I enjoyed a delicious and perfectly prepared custom omelet. The other two entrees were huevos rancheros and chile rellenos, both which were exceptionally seasoned and the breakfast potatoes had that crispy outer crust with a soft buttery interior. Highly recommend Westside for your next weekend breakfast pit stop and I know I'll be back for one of their many benedict's and a strong cup of joe! read more

This cafe is so close to my house, I'm ashamed to say this is only my second time coming! Now that I remember how great it is, I will definitely be back more often. The Yelp description of this being a "no-frills setting" is pretty spot on. It is located in a strip mall and is easy to miss when driving by. The inside is also not impressive and continues to give the hole-in-the-wall vibe. However, sometimes those are the best places! They serve breakfast all day until they close at 3pm! We came on a snowy Sunday and there was no wait for a table. They have a few patio tables when the weather is warmer. Their menu is large and consists of all the main brunch staples. I went with the Amber's Benedict which comes with chorizo and chipotle hollandaise! The hollandaise flavor is such a unique twist on the original, I thought it paired really nicely with the chorizo. My husband got the Divorced Chilaquiles which were half green and half red! He wanted over easy eggs which were just a tad overdone, but it was hardly a problem as the rest of the entree was so well made. We also split one of their homemade blueberry scones! It was more like a cornbread consistency but we thought it was really good, it went so well with my coffee. They only had one server and he checked on us frequently, including giving us water and coffee refills. Our food came out super quickly, I think we were in and out in just over 30 mins which is impressive for a sit down breakfast cafe! Prices are affordable, serving sizes are great, food is delicious. We got quite a bit of food and our total was $43 before tip. This is a solid brunch spot that should not be overlooked! read more

3.5 Star I decided to have breakfast delivered this morning. Wife was gone, just didn't feel like getting out of the house. I had a special offer from one of the delivery companies. So I searched up on yelp eggs Benedict in Westside café popped up. I had never tried this place, so I thought why not. Delivery fee was only $7.00. With all respect to the Delivery company, the food arrived fresh and hot. That's a pretty good feat considering I live in the North Vallys. What I ordered: Eggs Benedict Blueberry scone The eggs were cooked perfect. I was a bit worried that delivery would caused the yolks to be over cooked, however they arrived perfect. The hollandaise sauce, not sure if it's fresh, did not quite have enough lemon. Also, it was not traditional Canadian bacon but two thin slices of smoked ham. potatoes or perfect, The only thing that kept this from five star review was the 2 thin slices of ham. Just not enough ham. It's OK to use non-traditional Canadian bacon, however it should be meaty enough to be on par with the Canadian style bacon. Two eggs with thin slices of ham and some sauce just not quite satisfying. The flavor was good though. The scone was a little overcooked compared to what I've had in the past. I'm not a real scone eater so not sure, however for a biscuit, you can see how dark it is. read more

I had company at my house this weekend and decided I wasn't up for cooking a big breakfast. Instead, we placed an order to-go: 2 biscuits and gravy, two country fried steaks, and waffles. This cute little cafe is located in NW Reno. I haven't been here in years, and I forgot how good the food was and their prices. Service has never been an issue. I love that even when we have placed orders for delivery here; they will pack everything you need to complete your meal. We enjoyed our hearty meals today. This was our first time trying Westside Cafe! We had a hankering for a comfort food breakfast and Westside showed up on the Uber Eats app. Food delivery can often leave a lot to be desired but this order was perfect! Our family enjoyed the all meat omelet, divorced benedict, burger, fries, chicken fried steak, and sides of bacon and sausage. Everything was made to perfection and (unlike a lot of delivery orders) they included plenty of condiments, napkins, and utensils. Not happy with out experience for breakfast. First of all, this is a tiny little spot stuffed into a shopping center. I have seen their sign for years and decided we should try them out. I am an AARP member and there was a coupon in their food section for this restaurant. It was for BOGO on their meals and of course up to $7, the lower cost meal is the free one. But this gave us the incentive to try them out. We shop in this strip center and we would have come more often if it was a good experience. The tables were dirty with crumbs and stickiness. Not only was that a big turn off but the waiter took the menu's right off the table where people were sitting and handed them to us, dirty. I guess they don't wipe down menu's between customers or ever. It was quite dirty and smudged. Next, I showed the waiter the coupon, and boldly and loud he told us he would not accept it for the daily specials. Now just what made him think we were ordering the specials? Was it his assumption that we were cheap because we are Seniors? I was shocked with his attitude and told him no where on the coupon did it state "no specials". So he took out a pen and marked a line that said anything on sale may not be included. Everything on the menu was around $13 and up except the drinks so how was the measly $7.00 any value at all to try the food. My husband was going to order the steak and eggs and I was going to order an omelet plus coffee and a specialty coffee. Even with the deal we were going to spend $40. It is a noisy spot with a bland cold atmosphere. You could hear all the noise in back plus everyone talking. I can get better in so many other restaurants so because of his rude manner, we just got up and walked out. We went down to Gold Dust West to their restaurant where we get treated right. I would NEVER suggest anyone to eat here. I have no idea how they have any good reviews. We eat out often but I won't be back here. read more

If you're looking for some quick breakfast, friendly price, this might a place for you. The hollandaise sauce was missing in flavor, but kept the omelet from being dry. I opted for the veggie sandwich. It was priced reasonably and I was even more pleased to learn it came with a side of salad, fries or soup. The ingredients were fresh and the flavors popped. HUGE disappointment for a 4 star Yelp reviewed restaurant. We were looking for a Sunday brunch place to take my 86 year old mother, and they had 4 star reviews. Service: We called ahead to ask how long the wait was, and we were told about 15 minutes. When we got there, it took them 10 minutes to give us menus. A waitress came by 10 minutes later to take our order, and it took another 30+ minutes to get our food (after I asked after 20 minutes what was going on). After they served the food, they didn't check how our food was or if we needed anything. Ambiance: sticky vinyl "tablecloths", unknown liquids and food/stuff on the floor. Food: we ordered a Combo Breakfast (bland and greasy), Chilaquiles (soggy fried corn tortillas), Huevos Rancheros, (served cold with burnt potatoes), Huevos a la Mexicana, and a breakfast burritos (only tasty item). We are big fans of Mexican food, but we won't be coming back here. read more

Waited 40 minutes for lunch. The steak was like jerky. The bread had finger prints, the toast never came. The only thing the fries were missing was taste. Rather then air they open the door. It's MUCH TO HOT IN THERE . this place has gone down hill fast. It used to be good. But that has changed. The lady behind us mentioned how burnt her bacon was. And who doesn't like cold fried eggs. Delicious and a great value. Only thing that kept this from being a 5 star experience was the interior/ambiance. Let's talk about what was delicious. The huevos rancheros had a slightly smoky and vinegary salsa (mild but verging on medium spicy) that sat atop over-easy eggs that were floating in a thin layer of refried beans and melted cheese with a corn tortilla as the base. The potatoes were diced and cooked to perfection. They were fully cooked, slightly crispy on the outside, a perfectly seasoned. The pancakes were that staple fluffy with a slight chew diner style (yes, yum!). The huevos rancheros came with bacon but they let me sub for ham-- and it was a delicious thick ham steak. The kids shared a blueberry scone and I added a side of scrambled eggs and a side of fruit. I asked for an extra plate which I was not charged for (thank you, nice!). The fruit was a generous portion of cantaloupe, strawberries, and blueberries (not sure how they make any money on that since berries are getting pricey). Lastly, the service was warm and welcoming. I did not feel shamed for ordering just waters to drink and asking for a plate to split things for my young children. That kind of gracious atmosphere from the server was much appreciated. I'd certainly return and I think sprucing up the interior some would really help this business do well. read more

The smell when we first walked in was exactly what you would expect for a busy spot that is seemingly struggling with staffing issues. I ordered the huevos rancheros, which got served with a side of bacon. First time I've seen that. My eggs were borderline undercooked. There were a couple of spots with runny whites. It was the 4 of us at 8:00 AM, as we entered there was only 1 other gentlemen already eating. We stood to the side looking at the whiteboard with the specials. An older man behind the counter asked my friend if we wanted menus. Neither of us could hear him so we thought he was asking us if we were ready. My friend declined and let him know we were still looking. After a couple minutes my friend asked him if they had any physical menus available, to which the older man replied "That's what I already asked you." And gave the 4 of us only 3 menus and went to the back. Already off putting but my friend said they have good food so we sat down. After a couple minutes another woman comes in and sits down. The older man comes out with a cup and a water pitcher, he completely skips us and refills the person's water who already got their meal, and gives the woman the cup and water. We weren't even offered water nor greeted actually. I'm not sure what we did wrong to upset him, in total there was two people in the restaurant, we weren't loud, we tried not to take any space looking at the specials. I grabbed all our menus and set them back in the counter while he was chatting with the woman who had just sat down and we walked out, none of us ordered anything. If he's already upset I can't imagine what he'd do to our food. Which is sad because I've been eyeing this place for a couple years and was excited that I got a chance to try it. read more

Just found this hole in the wall cafe between Kohl's and Safeway off of Mae Anne and North McCarren. Westside has an extensive menu, the food/coffee was AMAZING and very friendly service! I had the all meat omelette (added spinach) and my mom had the breakfast combo, they were both delish! I usually don't like the coffee most restaurants serve, but they actually sell the coffee they serve, so I decided to try it and it was sooooo good! Having been turned on to this place by friends (took us over a decade!!), we were hankering for breakfast burritos and figured ordering from Westside Cafe was way easier than making from scratch, especially at their reasonable prices. We ordered through DoorDash, super simple (free delivery on first order). They arrived ahead of schedule and hot. We also ordered 2 of their blueberry scones. The burritos were as ordered, both with chorizo. As stated in their menu, they include scrambled eggs, country potatoes, cheddar cheese and your choice of bacon, sausage, ham or chorizo all wrapped in a flour tortilla. The only negative was they were a little on the dry side. Still flavorful and sizable. Their unique salsa that comes with the order is super tasty with a mild kick that really added to the overall experience. Best part....the blueberry scones. Yeah, that good! Westside Cafe is in a convenient location for the greater northwest Reno area which played a part in finding it! Walking in gives you coffee shop vibes with the friendly greetings and everyday specials board. I chose the special of the day which was a waffle, eggs and bacon. This place was my absolute favorite spot before I had kids and when I lived over this direction. I came here all the time when I lived at my condo off old Virginia st. It's a small family owned business. I never would get eggs Benedict anywhere because I always knew I could make it better but I tried theirs and it was pretty amazing. I noticed now they microwave their poached eggs now which is a bummer but I get it I guess. I got their chicken fried steak and it was perfectly crispy and full of meat. I had some time to kill while I was waiting for my car being serviced, so I thought I'd try their special, Waffle with eggs and a choice of sausage, ham or bacon for $9.99. I've been in here before, and I have never experienced any wait time to sit down or have my order taken. They took my order right away, and I also got an Irish Cream Breve with my breakfast. I waited about 15 minutes for it to be brought out to me. Food was good - good size waffle, egg and sausage were tasty. Irish Cream Breve, served in a glass was great.
