The restaurant was very clean, tables and chairs/booths were clean not sticky. I always notice if there is dust on the light fixtures and happily there was none. The service was great, friendly. The servers came by to check on us a few times but were not intrusive or overly solicitous. I hate being constantly interrupted by servers. We were there for breakfast and the food was exactly as we expected. Good, plentiful, basic breakfast food. The pancakes were great, the biscuits were the best- not too salty, tender crumb. I love Josey's so much!! My favorite meat and 3 in Greenville! I've been here quite a few times but haven't written a review until now. Josey's is a cute little restaurant with a great staff. I've never had an issue with them and they've always been so polite! But the FOOD is where it's at. It's all the classic southern style food with all the fixins. But my absolute favorite thing to get here is the squash casserole!!! Do not sleep on this squash casserole! I thought it was going to be something super healthy but alas, it is smothered in creamy, cheesy goodness. I usually get the Chuck Wagon which is the boneless pork chop fried similar to country fried steak style. Their rice and gravy is great, Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, etc. can't go wrong here! Also they have nice desserts - I love their strawberry cake, it's just like those strawberry shortcake ice cream bars but in cake form. Soooo good! I'm drooling. This place reminds me of a meat + 2 cafeteria with the difference being that you place your order with the waitress rather than go through a serving line. The entrees and side dishes focus on comfort food and southern cuisine. Many side dish choices with lots of options you rarely see on a menu. Prices are very reasonable and the place is clean. Wait staff are friendly and prompt. The shrimp and grits that I got was not very good. The sauce was very bland and had little flavor. The fried clam strip appetizer was not good either. Very small pieces of clam resulting in more breading than clam. My wife was happy with her turkey and dressing plate. I made an online order with Josey's Chuckwagon of Taylors recently. Spaghetti was the special of the day with a side salad and bread. The website offered choices for bread and salad dressing. I opted for cornbread and thousand island. When I got home to enjoy what I thought would be a good meal, I was very disappointed to see no cornbread and no salad dressing. I called to register my concern and someone who identified themselves as a shift leader said we will give you 20% off on your next purchase. I believe 50% off would have been fair and most restaurants would have replaced the entire meal when such mistakes are made. The offer of 20% was a very poor response indicating this organization's willingness to take care of the customer is greatly lacking. Solid meat and three (or rather two) type restaurant located out near the Target in Greer. Good price and value at $9.71 plus tip for one meat, two sides, bread and tea or lemonade. Sides were many and included Mac n cheese of course, cabbage, turnip greens, Lima beans, etc. I had the Santa Fe chicken which was a fried chicken cutlet with pepper jack cheese and queso cheese with limas and cabbage. Next time I'll shoot for something not fried but that's just my choice. Waitress kept our drinks filled and was pleasant. Grilled pork chops my friend had looked tasty as well. He's been to this spot a number of times. Pretty crowded for a Thursday night I thought and they just celebrated their third anniversary at this location. Will definitely return. I had visited this place shortly after it opened, maybe two and a half years ago and been disappointed. Hubby and I went here today to find it somewhat different. The menu seems to have expanded to include soup, sandwiches, and meat and two. I had the single 4 oz pork chop, grilled onions, and fresh corn on the cob, plus a cup of soup. The soup was piping hot and flavorful, a ground beef, macaroni, veggies (corn, lima beans, peas, cabbage, more) in a beef-tomato base. Unfortunately the rest of the meal was barely lukewarm. The pork chop was pretty tough. Husband said his Philly cheesesteak was also lukewarm but tasty. On the upside, our waiter Beau was super attentive and pleasant, willing to answer questions and go back to the kitchen to get answers for what he didn't know. The corn wasn't hot and he offered to nuke it for us. Once the corn was hot, it was delicious. By far, the best part of the meal. And Beau kept the iced tea flowing for my husband, who drank 6 or 7 big glasses. One note, it was terribly cold in the restaurant. Like freezing. Other people were mentioning it as well. Total check was $22. With tip, $27. Not too bad. We'll be back and I'll try ordering something different. read more

Josey's is a dinner on Wade Hampton in Greer. You can either sit down and eat in their dining area or use their drive through. The menu has a southern influence and considered a meat and two. Or, you can order a hamburger and other sandwiches off the grill. Lunch time was busy but we were immediately seated. Our drinks were quickly brought to the table. The liver was perfect and the grilled chicken was delicious and moist. All the sides were enjoyed but the macaroni and cheese was phenomenal. I had the pork chuckwagon. Very well cooked. Crispy and not greasy. The gravy was very good. I would say this was an above average restaurant, a 3, but the Okra was out of this world. Fried Okra usually comes in two varieties, falling apart with no breading, or a nugget of Okra within a breading bomb. This was neither. It was lightly breaded and fried to perfection. We visited this establishment this morning for breakfast. The first thing we noticed when we walked in was that the host/waitress standing near the door did not speak even after we stood there for a few minutes. I decided to speak and she did respond. We were seated but no one came over to greet us or take our orders. We were about to leave and a gentleman seated near us called a waitress and told her we needed help. Even he noticed that we had not been waited on. Susan came, even though we were not sitting in her area, and took our orders. Susan was very kind and attentive. As we left, the same lady, Katrina, was still by the door. I stood near her and waited for my husband to catch up with me. Still she did not speak to say thanks for coming, hope you enjoyed your meal or anything at all. The other waitress whose area we were seated spoke to everyone around us except us. I give one star for the food which was mediocre and 2 stars for Susan who has to work with openly racist people. read more

Josey's is one of those places that I'm always nervous about as far as business goes. I do see it packed sometimes, but I don't know anyone outside of the Taylors/Greer area who eats it. I worry that they'll close as a part of the major group of restaurants closing their doors lately. I do love their food, particularly the squash casserole and mac and cheese. I typically get the chuck wagon, which is basically a fried boneless porkchop with white gravy. It's really delicious, and so are the chicken fingers. It's pretty underrated in terms of meat and three places in Greenville, and I hope it's here to stay. read more

We ordered two vegetables plates to go. Neither of us could finish. We ordered Mac n cheese, turnip greens, green beans on one plate and turnip greens, potatoes n gravy, and fried okra on the other. Mac n cheese not very good, green beans were tough and 'woody', turnip greens were horrible. Both of us took only one bite. Potatoes were just ok. Okra was the best thing. We threw most of the food in the trash. It will be a while before we go back which is disappointing because Josey's is convenIent for us. Family and I LOVE Josey's Chuck Wagon - their signature dish - the Chuck Wagon is a fried pork tenderloin with white gravy over mashed potatoes.......hmmmmm mmmm gooood! Fried chicken is out of this world also, great burgers, fish, even BBQ. Oh, and don't forget their vegetable beef soup on these cold days - with a grilled cheese sandwich for about $5. Always get your moneys worth. My family always have to get to go boxes. Today my son and I went and it was no exception. Staff recognized us and asked where the wife was. She was still at work. I was passing thru SC on my way back to NC and decided to stop in. I asked the ladies what they recommended and they said the Chicken Fried Chicken....so that's what I had. Being that I love okra I had it for both my sides and a sweet tea. All the ladies that worked there were really friendly and the waitress was really cute and always checked on me.
