I have been taking my daughter to Doc Breslers since she was 4 years old. The staff is amazing. The wait times can sometimes be long if you have an appointment during a peak time-- evenings and weekends but I don't mind because it keeps me from having to miss work and my daughter from missing school. If you get a Saturday appointment you can show up early as not to plan your day around a trip to the dentist. For instance, I had a 1pm appointment last Saturday, called at 8:30 am and they said I could come whenever I was ready! We were in and out by 10. Once you get checked in, the staff briefs you and your child on the procedure they will be doing for the day and then you head back to the lobby and your child heads to the exam area. The office is decorated with whimsical themes from underwater aquariums, sponge bob and other children's characters. There are old school video games like Pac Man and Qpert in the lobu which are free of charge. The tv plays the latest in Disney/Pixar while you wait. Once your child is done the tech calls you tower with your child again and reviews any further work that needs to be done, answers your questions and suggests your follow up appointment. I've never seen a child unhappy before entering or leaving Doc Bresler's. The kids also get to pick prizes when they are finished their sppointment and always get a new toothbrush! I would definitely recommend if you have a child who is a first timer or who is fearful of the dentist. They have an orthodontist and they also see adults! read more

After reading the other review on here, I needed to give my opinion immediately. In short: THIS PLACE IS A CHILDREN'S DENTAL RIPOFF FACTORY. If there was a way to award 0 stars, I would do so!!! When my daughter was about 4-1/2 to 5 years old, they told me that almost all of her baby-teeth molars had to be capped with these metallic like covers... and that it would run about $3,000+!!! They happily informed me that most of that cost would be covered by my (then) great dental plan through work. It smacked of gold-digging & bullshit. I told them I would have to think about it. They insisted I should not hesitate because the decay could ruin her adult teeth forever. I checked around to get a 2nd opinion and found another pediatric dentist on Butler Pike in Conshohocken, Plymouth-Whitemarsh area. Yes, my daughter had some decay, but because her adult teeth were already starting to push through, there was no need to go through the expense to cap all of her baby teeth, let alone the anxiety it would cause her. Extra attention to her emerging molars, using topical fluoride and clear sealants would protect her adult teeth, along with better brushing techniques. This was 10 years ago. She has absolutely perfectly healthy teeth, thanks to Dr. Daniel Rizzo, who now has his own practice in Andorra, (and a great smile thanks to her Orthodontist Dr. Brogan). The staff at this practice are usually very friendly and helpful. However, this new dentist, Dr Danille Jove, has a horrible personal demeanor. I was frustrated because my kid had an emergency appt for a tooth repair. Once I got to the office, I checked in and waited 40 minutes. I was told they were short staff and weren't able to do the repair. Okay, understandable, but I need a better explanation as to how it is okay to not notify me prior to me leaving work and signing him out early to come to an appointment that wasn't going to happen. Then, to find out they x-ray the broken tooth, but that was all. So I'm livid because now it's seeming as though yell are just tryna get paid for a service. What I didn't appreciate was how short the Dr was. He body language came off as condescending and irritated. She asked if I wanted to speak to the office manager after her offering me no options or alternate I said yes and she than proceeded to storm off , call me hun and say that's all I can offer you. The office manager came out and apologized for the mishap, offered to have all his routine needs completed (since we already here), and scheduled me for a 1st in the morning slot 2 days later. I'm still not happy that nobody could call to state the repair couldn't be completed or to reschedule the appointment, but at the very least, I felt heard by the practice manager. However that young dentist needs to learn how to deal with and speak to patients and parents of in a less condescending and offensive manner read more

Went to see Dr. Jason in the Dresher office. Had a great experience as usual! The office is very beautiful, clean and fun! The video games and television provided entertainment for my little ones. The receptionist was very polite and helpful. The assistant and hygienist were very kind and helpful, even with a scared 2 year old. Dr. Jason was great. Unfortunately my 3 year old has a cavity, but she said she 'I can't wait to go back and have Dr. Jason fix it! It was so much fun!" All in all, a great place to take your kids. read more

My father-in-law is a pediatric dentist. As a kid I needed a ton of dental and orthodontic work - unlucky genes. I know (from him and from my own childhood) that people have very personal feelings about dentists' offices. Probably that explains the very strong but very divergent opinions in the reviews here. We've been taking our son to the Roxborough location of Doc Bresler's for about 6 years (he's ten now) and we think this place is outstanding. Best I can do is explain exactly why. 1) Great bedside manner with kids: Every dentist, tech and assistant we've dealt with has been warm and brightly friendly, never gooey-sweet - just kind and good at talking to kids. They always make my son comfortable right away, and manage to make the whole experience (exam, cleaning, x-rays, whatever) pleasant for him, and as a result he never complains about having to go the dentist. 2) Good with parents, too: After the checkup, the dentist comes out to give you a run-down on what they saw. Turns out they're good at talking to adults, too. Every dentist I've spoken to in the practice has been great about answering questions, talking as long or as briefly as we want, giving us a roadmap for what's coming up as our son's teeth develop, etc. It's been clear they care about their patients. We never feel rushed, despite the fact that it's a high-volume practice. I always come away from those conversations feeling well-treated and well-informed. 3) They seem to treat employees well: when people are taking care of your kid's health, I think it's important that those people are happy in their work - it ups the chances they'll be careful and attentive in the way they treat patients. I've had multiple people tell me they really enjoy working at Doc Bresler's. At my son's last appointment, his son's dentist told me she'd left pediatric dentistry for a time, for professional-development reasons, but ended up coming back to the Cavity Buster's practice because (she said) the owners treat their staff so well, and work so hard themselves, and that it's an unusually good place to work. I know from my father-in-law that that's rare. So I think that helps explain the good attitudes of the people we've dealt with here. Last thing: this is a pretty big practice, and it seems to serve a diverse, working-to-middle class community. Which means it's not the tidy, white-glove sort of office that some people (including some Yelp reviewers) might expect or want. The waiting room is usually full of families, they've got a Disney film playing on a TV and video-game consoles on the wall, and there's lots of talk and noise etc. This is not dim lighting/Highlights magazine/elevator music and people talking in whispers. That atmosphere may rub some people the wrong way or make them feel like they're not at a "top-notch" place. Definitely, reading some of the reviews, I get the feeling some people were judging the place based on those details. For us, the draw has been the quality of the care our kid gets. And honestly the community-center vibe - and knowing that this practice does a lot of community-outreach work - just makes me feel like this is a business that cares more about improving the health of a large swathe of NW Philly families than about running a high-end practice for affluent clients. read more

Well..I took my daughter there once when she was just turning 3 years old and she really love all the games and activities you can do in the waiting area. But the care of the dental assistant was very abrupt and sort of rude. She had got mad at me for asking so many questions and also got an attitude because my daughter wouldn't sit still to get her teeth cleaning done. Please don't even get me started on the process of making an appointment or calling the office and being on hold for up to 15 minutes before a representative even picks up...smh I HATE this place! read more

I took my daughter to this place. They said we would receive paperwork in the mail. We never received the paperwork. I wais a little annoyed because it took me too long to complete paperwork for two kids, even though I tried to arrive early. AnyWho, the waiting room is big however the set up of is pretty crazy. There were people on top of people there. You could hear everyone's conversation. And some of the patients ghetto, loud, and rude. One lady kept dropping the F bomb and that N-bomb so many times. I just wanted to jump up and slap her. There were children there... About their customer service: I don't have a whole lot to say at the front desk. They barely even looked at me when I signed it. Before you go to the patient room there is a tiny, tiny, cubby type room where you physically stand in and wait for the doctor. There is no chair I was with my two daughters 2 and 5. I had to stand and hold their coats while the doctor Came out and stood next to me to talk about my daughters' medical history. And then it was time to take them to a room. I took my two-year-old little private room. My 5-year-old daughter went into a general dental area where there were about five or six other chairs. Now I don't know about you, but I have never been to any type of medical practice where you are in a room with six other patients while you have your exam. I think that is a complete HIPPA violation. Also they really don't want parents arranged when they do the exams, but I do understand that parents can sometimes make the exam issue worse. However I have a two-year-old and a five-year-old. There is no way I am leaving my children unattended with adults I don't even know. WHO DOES THAT? They don't even tell you that that is what they prefer to do. However I do guess that in this day of modern technology you could go on their website or look at other reviews and find out for yourself. After the visit: We went and stood in the reception area for someone to discuss how the visit went. We stood up once again this time in the reception area while this one person is telling me everything about my child's teeth. Meanwhile...other patients are coming back and forth other staff members are moving back and forth and I have to keep dodging them just so I can not be in the way. All the while I'm still trying to focus on what this gentleman was telling me and what I should do to follow up. The more questions I asked the more annoyed he seemed. So I just left there with a very uneasy feeling. I was told that my five-year-old had one cavity and needed a filling. Then I also had a dental appointment that day at my regular dentist. I went there and ask him if he had any suggestions for children's dentist because doc bressler was just absolutely awful. I don't think I would ever go back there again. I had already set up an appointment for my daughter before I left. Once I came on yelp and saw the reviews About fillings and general anesthesia I thought I'm not even going to go back. That is something that they should tell parents beforehand. So my daughters filling will have to wait for another week or two she's not complaining about any pain. But unless you do want to have a painful experience I DO NOT suggest you visit this dental practice. Take your good $$$ and your need to be properly serviced elsewhere!!! read more

We had a very poor experience with Doc Bressler. My daughter is adopted from Taiwan and on the first visit they gave my husband a hard time about whether he was her father. They also told us that when she came in for a procedure that we would need to bring proof that we legally were allowed to make medical decisions for her. We asked it this was required of all parents, and we were told no. Essentially because our daughter didn't look like us, we were required to show proof she was ours. I even asked if they would require proof if I came in with my neighbor's daughter who is white and has brown hair like me, and they said "probably not". Doc Bressler said that my daughter had 4 cavities and that she would require surgery under general anesthesia to repair them. At the surgery they told us that after they did x-rays to determine the extent of the repair needed they would NOT tell us first, they would just do the work and we would have to live with it. They came out after surgery and said our daughter's 4 teeth were so bad that they had to drill most of them away and had to secure crowns to them. They said that because so little of her actual tooth was left that the crowns would not stay on longer than a year. When we asked what we would do if they fell off, they said that we could just keep coming back and getting them glued back on. After the second crown fell off in less than 6 months, we decided to see a new dentist. We ordered our x-rays from Doc Bressler and saw the new dentist yesterday. The new dentist took one look at our daughter's x-rays and said "I hate to tell you this, but your daughter had such minor cavities that they could have been repaired with simple fillings". He told us that she didn't need surgery or all the drilling and root canals and didn't need the crowns. Unfortunately now it is too late as Doc Bressler destroyed her baby teeth and we have no choice but to keep using the crowns until her adult teeth come in. I can't imagine any reason for Doc Bressler to do all this unnessecary work on my daughter other than to be able to bill the insurance company for all the thousands of dollars of work performed. Simple fillings would have been a very cheap procedure. When going to DocBressler, be very careful if they tell you that your child needs to be put under and have extensive work done. I recommend getting a second opinion even if you want Doc Bressler to do the work. It is possible they are recommending more work than your child needs. My daughter cannot bite into any food because of the fragile crowns, and we have to cut all her food up like a baby. She cannot chew with the front of her mouth, and the crowns are likely to fall out every few months because there is so little tooth left for it to be glued to. Don't let this happen to your child. All Doc Bressler's games and fancy offices don't make for good solid decisions for your children. read more

They are a busy office so waits are sometimes inevitable but at any good health care practitioner's office you're going to wait a bit. TERRIBLE; I live an hour away and still wanted to be a patient at this practice. I was 12 minutes late for my appointment after driving an hour there and they cancelled. On top of the fact that I told the receptionist I moved an hour away and that I needed my cleaning before my insurance lapsed the following day. She could care less. I am transferring myself and my child from the practice. They are not as professional as they were when I were a child. Take your insurance somewhere else. read more

The office was extremely crowded on 1-29-14 due to the snow the Week prior. I thought we would be sitting there for hours, but I was happily surprised to only wait about 10 minutes. The hygienist, Dee, was the best. She talks to my son and makes him feel very comfortable. She remembered him from six months ago. She was very nice and explained what she was going to do. He didn't like the flavor of toothpaste at first so she replaced it with one he could tolerate. Dr. Josh came in to give him a look over and informed me His teeth look very good. I have always had an excellent experience at Doc Bressler's in Roxborough. You only get one first time and they made the first experience for both of my sons an excellent one. I am the daughter of a hygienist and practically grew up in a dental office. Doc Bressler's knows how to take care of kids. Brenda was the hygienist for my 2 year old and did an excellent job. Last year my 5 year old needed to have some extractions and the process was painless and pleasant (per my son's mouth!) A previous poster complained about some of the other clientele. Other parents' poor behavior and demeanor should not reflect on Doc Bresslers. They did a great job! read more

My son & I had his first dentist appointment here this morning, he is 3 years old. We recently moved to the Philly area, so the building & signs is what caught my attention, as well as the multiple locations, I figure they must be doing something right. Walking in, the waiting room was set up weird, the chairs seem to divide the room, but are lined up perpendicularly to the desk to only give a space big enough for one person to walk between the chair & the staff desk, not very kid friendly when holding hands, & as would luck would have it an older gentleman was walking out as we were coming in, quite the squeeze. The staff never looked up at us as we walked in, with 3 staff members at the front desk, one on the phone & the other two in conversation about the weekend, we received no hello or direction, being first timers, I managed to find the sign in sheet & sign us in, directly in front of one staff member, who never acknowledge our presence, due to the weekend activity conversation, no doubt. Maybe coming from the South, customer service is only a southern thing? Regardless, they have 4 Xboxes set up for the kids to play, the waiting room was rather thin leaving my son room to hop between 2 of the TVs. After playing for a few minutes, the staff member who early was in conversation called me over to get the paper work, which I had kept in my jacket pocket at sign-in due to no instruction. We handled that, & she told me we would be called back shortly. A short time later we were called back, once there, things were great. The lady that lead us to the exam room went out of her way to find my son Spiderman stickers. He was being shy at the time, & she noticed him smile when she ran through a list of what kind of sticker he would like, I thought that was great service. The dentist then came in & introduced herself, & gave us a run down of what to expect during the exam, & the hygienist followed shortly. The cleaning went great, the hygienist was quick & made sure to make the cleaning seem fun for a first timer, who got a kick out of the water & suction tubes. She gave out compliments of his teeth & dental care, this was very reassuring & comforting. Then the dentist came in, looked at my son's teeth & gave us the same reassurance & compliments. Then the exam was over, the hygienist then lead us to the check out counter, where we set up another appointment. Of course, on the way out my little one wanted to go back to the Xbox. I think it was a good, successful visit. A little guy who was apprehensive about his first dentist appointment left with a smile, & was happy to tell his mom all about his good time that afternoon. It is definitely a comfortable place for your children to go to. Every child is nervous about a tooth exam. However, it quickly passes while in this office. The staff is great and very understanding of your child's temperament. I recommend all parents to bring their children here. They will need a bigger office soon because they have a lot of patients. DO NOT GO!!!! I have been going to Dr Josh Bressler since my son had his first visit. On the surface, they look appealing, they are okay for basic things...cleanings, flouride treatments ect. 1. They will talk you into not coming back to the room with your child. I strongly expressed my dislike, however, my son did cry (unsure if they were hurting him, or he was having a tantrum) so I left the room after they talked down to me and basically asked me to leave...however, I came back to the room with the technician screaming at my son and telling him if he doesnt stop crying he will not see his mommy! i never raised my voice until that moment and asked her why was she talking to my 5 yr old that way...her response was she dont want him to scare off the other kids... I had enough! I asked for my records and will not look back 2. Had a 6 oclock appt and so did 50 other children. 3. They are all about the $$ my son has 1 loose tooth, however they said they need to take out 3 or 4 teeth...although he was not in any pain and the other teeth are not loose..just didnt make sense...Finally Dr Josh Bressler admitted that most likely they will come out on their own and we can wait it out...( What does that sound like...$$$$$$ is their concern) Last, Im a single parent, and i love my son....They specialize in children denistry and the staff are not children friendly, nor do they care if your child is in pain...my son said they held him down and i personally witness them talking disrespectfully to my son...They thought i was in the waiting room i was right outside in the hall. read more

The rather mediocre decor and waiting room was good if you have children and are waiting for an extended period of time, but it's that. This is strictly a children's dentist. I would feel so awkward if I were to be over the age of 14 here. Now I have to say, they updated the waiting room and operating room immensely since I have previously been there. They usually have have some cheesy movie or Disney channel show for kids to watch in the operating room. The waiting room has a few x-boxes for kids to entertain themselves. Although for my 4 year old and my 6 six year old (both girls) they couldn't really find anything to their liking. Overall it was a OK experience, although, i would not recommend it, if there was a different dentist closer. read more

Horrible experience. I was told my granddaughter needed 10 cavities filed under general anexthesia. I took her to 2 other dentists and was told she had 5 placeses where the enamel didn't form. all 5 were done without anexthesia or novacaine. Who woud subject a 7 year old to unneccesary procedures! my kids have been going here for years. it annoys me sometimes how much volume they do - the place is huge and they churn thru kids quickly - but they made lifelong customers today. i have a very anxious tween who freaked out about getting a filling. but Dr Danielle killed it - she and her team walked us thru each step in a very disarming and engaging way - while being quick and painless and helpful. I brought my three and four year old here because it is close to my home. Unfortunately, it was a terrible experience. We waited almost an hour. When we got to the back it felt more like fast food service. One staff member was extremely rude. I say its unfortunate because when we actually saw a dentist, they were great. Agree with the other 1 star...this is a comple ripoff. We took my 2 year old daughter in after calling in and "verifying" that our insurance would cover the visit. They "looked it up" and assured us it would. Well after seeing the dentist for less than 2 minutes we get a bill for more than 75. Do not go here. We have top notch insurance and dont pay anything near that for our adult visits at a much better place. Stay away and don't believe anything the office staff tells you. read more

This was my first time taking three of my children to this office. I have a 7yo, and twins that are three. The office gets busy but it's doesn't seem to bother the staff at all they move fast. Everyone worker is nice and educated the patients very well. There are games on the wall for the children to play as they wait. My 7yo even told me that his mouth felt no pain compared to other dental offices that we tried. My twins wasn't scared to go in the back to get teeth cleaned. I had a very good experience and will make this my kids dental office. It's a half an hour ride for me to get to. The hours are good with a even better staff. read more

I absolutely love this place. Very kid friendly and my children love it. There is a lot to keep them occupied so you don't feel the need to entertain. The staff has great customer service and even though its about 30 mins from my home it is worth the ride. HORRIBLE !! DO NOT GO to Doc Breslers Cavity Busters ! I am a mom of three young kids. My youngest son had a lot of work done in their surgical center . when they told me my other other two kids would need to go into surgi center because they both had 4 cavities each , i got nervous and went to get second opinion. I was horrified to find out my daughter didn't have any cavities at all and my son had one and they filled it in the office of our new dentist in minutes. Not only was there no need to put them under but they lied about my kids having cavities they never even had ! I would NEVER ever step foot in this place again. My new dentist is wonderful, knows my kids by name and allows me to come back in the room with them if I want. Doc Breslers hands you a beeper puts you in a waiting room and you never know who you will see. My youngest has crowns on his front teeth that are chipped and I found out totally unnecessary, they could have been treated. They will put your child in danger to make more $$$.. I have to be honest that going to the dentist is not one of my children's favorite things or mine to do. I have to also say that they do a pretty good job for an office that is geared towards little kids. The only objection that I have is that the chairs in the waiting area are a bit hard to sit in with the arms, so if you have any hips beware. As far as the receptionists, they seem very nice and accommodating. They could use a bigger area for conference with the employees and the patients. But when it comes to the kids, they are most understanding and patient. I have a son who is autistic who does not like anybody to touch his mouth. Now they worked with me and he just went for his second cleaning and with minimal medication for his nerves, did very well. They are understanding about kids fears and try to alleviate them the best that they can. I would say that they probably could use a bigger office, because they have a lot of patients coming in and out of there. The quarters are a bit cramped. But the experience I can honestly say was a good one and the girls who clean the teeth are so sweet to my boys. Both Dr. Bressler that I have met, are very kind to the kids and for something that is not so fun, they do make it fun. I would say give it a try. I had been taking my 3 children here as long as I can remember, my experiences had been great up until one point when my children and I had been out of the country for a few months when we came back I immediately made an appointment for their routine visit...While in the back one my then 17 years old and 7 years old sons were being seen, not knowing they were together one of the assistants asks my 7 year old "Why haven't you guys been here in a while?" my son being a child gave a response that a 7 years old wold give and he said "my mom didn't bring us"..her response to him was "Well if you had a broken arm would she take you to the hospital?" My 17 years old was LIVID and immediately came out and told me what happened in turn caused me to be very upset....While the manager was apologetic I think that assitant should of apologized...I think they are good with the children but their bedside manner is HORRIBLE!!! read more
