There is a lot to like and overall it's a positive experience. We went on a Saturday at 5 and it was packed. You have to walk through an outside bar patio and walking through with two young kids was weird. Everyone was eyeing us like we had 3 eyeballs and the whole time we were there we saw no other kids. The decor inside is nice. The food was good, not great but worth the money I think. We had a couple cheeseburgers and chicken nuggets. The fried pickles were the best I have had. If I came back again I would be very happy with just pickles and beer. Service sucked, just really slow, took about an hour to get our food and they never filled our water. Park the car... Wait in line... Order your drinks and meal and grab a seat. When it is cold and windy they have heaters and some shelter...still froze my rear though. All three of us ordered the ribs and they were awesome! Perfect smoke, really meaty and juicy. Quality meat with little fat. They came with beans and slaw ( great beans with a nice kick) Ordered a side of onion rings which were awesome with the ranch dipping sauce. I had a margarita and thought it was not very good. I never write reviews but I have to. The service at this place was next level in every way!! It is extremely rare to get such amazing service. We got there and the place was packed yet we were seated within 5 minutes. Our waitress was incredibly attentive but not too attentive if you know what I mean. She was just right attentive. Then there were the runners who were clearing things as soon as we were done with them. Almost always, I have an empty cocktail glass sitting with me for the entire 2nd half of a meal and it annoys me because it's just kinda in the way. But not at this place! I'm telling you, next level! I tipped 30% because I was so happy. Food was great. I had their signature salad and I want to go back tomorrow to eat it again. All I can say is order extra of the dressing that comes with it. You'll want to drink it. Only complaint is the 2-tops are suuuuper tiny so if you're just 2 and can get a booth, you're golden. read more

My boyfriend and I were really excited to go here, we've hit a lot of the restaurants in that area and wanted to try out something new, That was a mistake. We sat near the pool table and bought a pitcher or beer (how is draft beer warm...that was a new one for me) my boyfriend ordered food at the bar like he was told by the host and the bartender goes "We don't take food orders here" very rudely and embarrassing my boyfriend because he was so rude he thought he was joking so he laughed, he moves 3-4 feet over and goes you order here! Than my boyfriend realized he wasn't joking, he came back to our table with out a smile and I asked him what was wrong he explained that to me but now we're stuck waiting for our food I should've told them never mind because the food was cold, and not worth $20 ish for a plate. The place is cool obviously but there are plenty of other restaurants in the area that are more than happy to serve you. Even when we went to pay there was an issue, he sighs and looks over at his coworker and goes "will you ring him up??" What is this personal vendetta with this miserable bartender? Owner needs to step up and reevaluate this person. I'm upset I spent $80 here for rude treatment and not so great food. What an incredible and lively establishment this eatery has for locals and visitors alike. There is plenty of outdoor seating and tons bar the very busy bar. From the moment we walked in and seated, our server and other staff were attentive and fast. Loved the flat iron steak salad was cooked perfectly. Lots of fresh spring greens and they were very careful with making sure my gluten intolerance was addressed. They make all dressings in house and I had their tarragon dressing was delicious. We were hungry after a long drive and a bit of hiking. And I really wanted seafood, but my husband's not a fan. The Joshua Tree Saloon was a good choice for us. This place is not a restaurant in the traditional sense. There are indoor and (larger) outdoor seating areas, but don't expect to sit down and order, even inside. There's a counter outdoors where all orders are placed and you're given a number sign so the waitstaff can find you. When we ordered we were told the wait would be 45 minutes for food. Drinks showed up in 10 minutes, and food arrived ahead of schedule. Portions are a good size, and the food was tasty and well prepared. My fried seafood meal had calamari, shrimp, and 2 pieces of fish. All were properly cooked; the calamari strips were tender and not rubbery. Lemon wedges, cocktail, and tartar sauce were included. The fries were crisp. My husband enjoyed his burger and fries. Drinks are on the pricey side, higher than the menu showed for my draft Stella. If we visit again, I'm likely to order a basket of shrimp. It was my favorite part of the Seafood Trio platter. Atmosphere was funky and eclectic wild west. Outdoor seating was a mostly a mix of bar tables and picnic tables. It was shaded and comfortable outdoors, but dark indoor seating, mainly booths, is also available. Ass backwards. We went Sunday 2/22/26. To enter, you walk to the back, straight in front of the live band and a shit ton of people, then have to walk through the people seated outside on the patio, when you get into the door, the ONE STALL bathroom line is there to greet you. We finally make it to the hostess desk and waited about 20 mins for help. I told the hostess there's a table outside that seemed nice, she said it's for someone else and I said there were a few open tables on the patio but we will take a booth, whatever is easiest.. she was like "great I'll go check." She goes outside and never returns. Then a waitress take on 2-3 other groups to booths that came in after us. I asked her for us to be seated. She seemed annoyed by this. Super weird energy. She sits us in the worst possible spot in the back middle table, servers bumping us with the plates coming out and that are eaten and being cleared off. Burgers were even remotely worth nearly $20.. Neither my wife nor I felt comfortable standing in line and being required to peruse the menu and order meals and drinks, all while a hungry and thirsty line of people was waiting behind. Stopped by for dinner and drinks at 6 pm on a Saturday l. This place was POPPIN'!! Loved the saloon ambiance. Lots of outdoor seating, indoors with a bar area, stage for live music, and a pool table. Despite a 45 minute wait for food (and for a seat! We sat at the bar) I still had a great time. The staff was super friendly and told us early on that there would be a wait. I had the half rack ribs, they were moist and flavorful without being overly slathered in bbq sauce. Cooked excellently!! The mineshaft burger I felt was moist and cooked well but could have been more seasoned (nothing condiments can't fix I suppose). All in all, the food was nothing to write home about but definitely a fun, lively experience with great staff and solid food! read more

I loved this restaurant. When you get to the restaurant, there are plenty of places to park your car. There's usually a long line but it goes pretty fast. The hostess was really amazing. She reminded me of Jane Lynch. She was funny and sassy and just all around seemed like a really cool person. We got our order in with no problems. We ordered a full stack of ribs with steamed broccoli, coleslaw, and black beans as sides. We also ordered some beer, diet cokes, and an Arnold Palmer. My dad ordered a sandwich and we got the regular fries and the sweet potato fries to start. I've never had sweet potato fries as delicious as these. I'm used to good french fries, but this is the first time I've loved sweet potato fries. They had a pretty cool bar in the back, and I also purchased a t-shirt. My sister and my dad got t-shirts as well. I loved my experience at this restaurant, and they have plenty of gluten and dairy-free options available. read more

I have visited this establishment twice prior in the past 6-9 months and the two other experiences were matching of the 3 star average review. The food isn't terrible but slightly overpriced. The service can be understandably bogged with the tourists however I've only had an issue with this visit. The ambiance is rustic and very likeable with a comfortable feel. To simply explain my one star review which has resulted in my decided stance on never returning to this restaurant is that: Happy hour was not explained to be omitted on an observed Friday holiday when advertisement stated plainly as 3-6pm daily with the menu being placed beforehand on the table with the standard menus. When speaking to a manager they explained that there was no fault but a simple misinterpretation; Upon reason that it should've been stated to me when I pointed out a happy hour drink twice; the manager still expressed no fault. Further reasoning conversation prior to the dispute, the manager already had charged my credit card before an agreement or conversation took place. Leaving disappointed in the customer service but not in a disrupting manner, i left out the outdoor exit patio area to see a rat freely next to the fenced area within 10-15 ft of a customer eating outside, unbothered, and seemingly that this isn't a concern for the management of this restaurant. I'm not truly mad or upset, just very disappointed that a local small-town business takes such advantage of and ignores simple customer service. I truly hope this business can move forward with training and centering around a customer service experience to enhance the joshua tree attraction and provide a positive experience for all. For the manager that assisted me I hold no animosity towards you, would just rather hope you can effectively communicate with your customers and offer a respectable outcome for all in the future. read more

When in JT, a visit to the JT Saloon is a must. The employees are always friendly and welcoming. The food is served quickly and I've never been disappointed. And who doesn't love eating outdoors on a huge patio with plenty of room to breathe? If you enjoy a good burger, may I suggest The Mine Shaft? I'm all about a brioche-style bun that holds a well-cooked burger. Did I mention the 1000-Island sauce?! Due to COVID-19, the entrance is now in the back near the colorful bus. I came here with my friends on a birthday trip and they were terrible. The hostess was the only person who was attentive. We were waiting literally over an hour for our food which came out wrong. They said they would do something for my friends birthday but they never did then they kept telling us we were misinformed by a new staff member of that. I had to ask them to take our empty cups and plates that were sitting there for about 45 minutes. They didn't accommodate us at all and then charged us for a drink they told us would be free for her birthday. Very poor customer service and the food was not great. I decided to spend my anniversary in Joshua tree and chose to have dinner here. I arrived at 5pm and got on the list immediately. At 6:05 I went to check how much longer the wait would be. The host who was extremely rude btw tells me we lost our spot because they called us and we didn't show up. I tell her I never received a call and when she showed me the call history, there was a random number she was claiming that was me. Fast forward she apologized and tells me theres still no seats unless we wanna eat outside. So we decide to eat outside. The server takes our order at 6:15. Our sodas were brought out at 6:25 and we didn't receive our food until 7:30. Heres the part that makes me even more mad, a family of 6 shows up and they were offered a seat next to us immediately. This was at 6:50, they ordered their food and then received their food at 7:35, 5 minutes after we got ours. It's hard to say if me and my partner were being discriminated against considering we waited 2 and a half hours to finally start eating meanwhile a family of 6 was eating within 45 minutes of arriving. Overall horrible service, make the host read your phone number back to you considering they've done this to my sister as well. The food is not at all worth the terrible service you'll have to deal with. Go eat at Applebee's down the street and save the headache. I'll never come eat here again. read more

New in town and I live close by so every time I passed this place I'd get curious because the old town look of the building had me intrigued. It's surprisingly large indoors and they have a spacious outdoor dining area as well. The hostess was also our server and man that girl does her job so well. It was so busy last night and she handled her shift like a boss. She sat us promptly and never forgot about our little party of 2 despite the dinner rush. The place was decorated with cute Christmas lights and we sat in a cozy booth in the corner by a window which I loved as I dislike sitting in between packed tables. The menu has a lot of burger options and I'm not a burger person but I did like some of their sandwich options and the fact that you can get ribs here and fish and chips which I really enjoy. They have a great happy hour menu. It's Monday through Friday from 3-6pm. I'm excited to come back for that. I tried their popular Cowgirl Slinger drink ($11) and it was fantastic! Well, as far as flavors go however I didn't taste even the least bit of alcohol in it and it is a rum based cocktail. It also took quite a while to make it to the table as the bartender has to deliver it and not our server. I know they're busy but my boyfriend was on his second drink by the time mine arrived. The menu did not include the drink prices. We ordered the seafood trio ($19.99) that included fried cod, battered shrimp and calamari, fries and it was all delicious, fresh and well battered/fried and not salty and the fries were definitely not your average. Also great. I was pleasantly impressed. The only thing I didn't like was the dark lighting as it can make it slightly difficult to see the menu but I get it. My husband got the western melt and it was mediocre at best. The Au Jus was good but other than that, very bland. Fries were fine but nothing special. The sandwich was also way too soggy. It was falling apart before dipping it. On top of all that, everything was honestly quite expensive. Two entrees and two beers came to $60. Our food took 45 min and we got there around 830pm. I was extremely disappointed with our visit. We were excited to stop by and try the food because it looked good and sounded amazing. We went in with a party of 9, and were immediately told we couldn't order off of the regular menu because the food wouldn't come out fast enough, so we had to order off of a "larger party" menu. The restaurant had maybe 3 tables full at this point so we didn't understand the need to order off this menu, but we eventually obliged because we wanted to try it. After seating us, they never came to take our order, not for food, drinks, anything. We sat waiting for 20 minutes without any service at all before finally deciding to go somewhere else. The bartenders acted pissed off and said "where are they going??" As we were leaving. All in all, non-existent service and rude staff. Take heed of all the other one star reviews and take your business somewhere else. If you're looking for somewhere better, we went to Sky High Pie across the street and it was AMAZING! There au jus was incredibly salty and spicy. The meat was good, but they also spread something spicy on the bun. I was famished after a long day at Joshua Tree so I ate it. My friend ordered fish, calamari and shrimps. She said their was absolutely no flavor to the calamari and shrimp. The fish had really hard spots that were unpalatable.
