My husband ate recently at this spot and told me that we had to go back together. Hands down, probably the best pad Thai I have had, possibly ever. It was just perfect - the sauce and flavor was just right, it came with 5 juicy shrimps, wonderful noodle texture. Just so good. We also ordered the kabocha squash side dish and it was really good - amazing sauce and soft eggs that complimented it so well. My husband also ordered the Penang curry burger from Bam Bam Burgers next door which is owned by the same person and they brought his burger over to him. It was also delicious and very unique with its flavors. Ambience was really great - a bit on the nicer side but still felt really comfortable. Our waiting staff were very kind, warm, and attentive. I ordered delivery through Uber Eats and decided to try Tuk Tuk Thai because they were offering a buy-one-get-one deal on their mango sticky rice. Overall, it was good--the mango was fresh and sweet, though the sticky rice was a little dry and could have used more coconut milk. I also ordered the Pad See Ew with tofu and vegetables, which was excellent. It was loaded with fresh veggies and packed with flavor. Delivery was fast, and the food arrived hot, which is always a plus. My only issue was with the Uber Eats ordering process. There wasn't an option to specify a spice level or request hot sauce and chopsticks. I selected the utensils option, but unfortunately, no utensils were included with my order. Inside, the restaurant is clean as well, though the ambiance is dark and minimalistic. They also offer a fair selection of beer, wine, and specialty drinks. We ordered two lunch specials, though one of our items was unfortunately never served due to a mixup with the order. While our waitress never followed up or offered compensation, it was only a small side dish, so I chose not to make an issue of it. We were especialy impressed with the Pad Thai, which featured authentic tamarind flavor rather than the overly sweet Americanized version often served elsewhere. We ordered it with shrimp and were pleasantly surprised to receive five jumbo shrimp that were perfectly succulent and delicious. The Panang curry with beef was also outstanding ; rich, flavorful, and generously portioned with both sauce and tender beef. The spice level and balance of flavors were spot on. We asked for a house recommendation and our server suggested to try the Ba Mee Tuk Tuk since it is considered one of the house specialties; however, it ended up being our least favorite dish. The flavors were not as robust as we anticipated, and the pork belly was over fried and somewhat difficult to chew. The grilled pork collar, on the other hand, was divine. Staying at a nearby hotel so this was an easy walk. Never really tried Thai before so no real benchmark to compare it to. The service here was great. The waitress made some suggestions for a new-be like me. We started with a dumpling appetizer and then dinner was served quickly afterwards. Ba Mee Tuk Tuk. Noodles with a broth and pork. Very tasty. Had to update my last review because I've been back so many times and tried so many more of their menu items. Tuk Tuk Thai is now my go to on the Westside whenever I want authentic Thai flavors. My most recent visits have included a wonderfully aromatic green curry, a fresh mushroom laarb, beef panang curry, BBQ beef skewers, garlic green beans, Chinese broccoli, Thai dumplings, cucumber salad, fried spring rolls, and garlic eggplant. Every dish hit the mark on flavor, tenderness, and had been blessed with the cooking skill of a seasoned chef (nothing was under or over done). The accommodate for spice tolerance levels, and if your table has different palates, just ask for their hot condiments on the side. Comes with 8 won tons in a delicious broth lots of veggies. We were a party of two seated at a table for four along the wall soup easily sharable. A lovely subtle yet tasty broth, not salty. Which is a huge plus for us. Pineapple fried rice. 3/5 real pineapple, not canned but the sauces or spices on the dish were making the rice gritty like sand and overly seasoned. ... easy fix though when I got it home, just added more white rice to balance out the spice to rice ratio...and some water to smooth out the sandiness from the spice/sauce. Yummy otherwise. Service was friendly and helpful. But after I flagged down three friends who passed by the restaurant...they came in and sat down nearby at a large table. But instead of being happy, our server was upset that we didn't join them as our meal was underway and the seats left by this new party were nearest the bathroom entrance. I was certain more friends would join them, told the server, so she would not be so upset But understandable the server wanted to merge us with the party of our friends who were a party of three at a table for 8. However, that table filled as other friends left the Landmark Nuart Cinema, which was around the corner. I totally understand the need for table management in a small place. But I literally brought in 8 new hungry customers. So my elderly mom and I felt we could retain at our original table. I guess a thank you or a refill of Thai ice coffee or refill of water or some check in for a possible dessert would have been a nice gesture. One star off for trying to force my elderly 80 plus-year-old mom to move for a seat near the bathroom. Otherwise it was a happy experience. The folks I had flagged in were celebs (working actors and even a Hong Kong director and one fine visual artist) so our server would have done well to strike up a chat and take pics for any social media they do. But anyway, she took care of my friends and I knew they would be tipping her well. We left them after some picture-taking still partying on because, you know, I had my mom with me. The red lights and the artwork on the walls makes for a cool ambiance. I love the variety of options in the menu and service was helpful and attentive. Street parking only. Sustenance Saturday at Tuk Tuk Thai! I've heard good things about this place and have seen a line out the door, so it went straight onto the must try list for me. To go order consisted of thai beef jerky, chicken satay and pad zee ew with chicken. Thai beef jerky was ok, with little pads of beef fat at the end. Pretty much dried out beef. I really liked the dipping sauce. I dumped the leftover on my pad zee ew for extra flavor. Chicken satay was standard. 4 skewers of chicken with peanut sauce. I did not detect the coconut spice flavor. Roti was yummy. Pad zee ew was also pretty basic. Wide noodles, sauce, chicken. Bottom line: nothing stood out to me as extraordinary. Everything was fine. Not itching to immediately return and order something again because it was so freaking good. I continue to take offense with the price of food these days. $50 for two appetizers and a noodle dish. $16 for 4 skewers of chicken. $18 for basic pad zee ew with chicken with a portion size for maaaybe 2 people. We have a Tuk Tuk Thai Restaurant within walking distance from our condo in Chicago. I would probably say it's the best Thai food in my "windy city"! That being said, and wanting a Thai dinner this night our L.A. local friends, we are staying with, said we have just the place to take us: Tuk Tuk Thai on Sawyelle Blvd. which is this famous Asian food street in West Los Angeles. Okay, what are the chances of two unaffiliated restaurants having the exact same name 2,000 miles apart? L.A.'s version of this Thai restaurant, was excellent Not quite as good as our Chicago rendition; but I could be a bit bias. Yuk Yuk LA was twice the price of Chicago's Yuk Yuk, but both were not only delicious, but the service was excellent at both places. We ordered : * Chicken Satay on a stick and was very good * Thai Dim Sum was excellent * Green Curry Chicken was spicy and delicious * Drunken Noodles so good we had on more serving * Garlic Green Beans that were crunchy and tasty * Several Singa Premium Lager and one bottle of Pavertte Chardonnay that was really good and paired well with our dinner So as I thinking back, our bar bill raised our tab exponentially, so that was the culprit! Came here a couple of times before but left because we couldn't find parking. This time we got here a bit earlier, around 5 PM, and found a spot in the nearby lot. I'd recommend making a reservation if you can, since Friday nights are mostly reserved seating--but if you don't mind, you can grab a spot on the patio. The dishes we tried were all hits: the Moo Ping is grilled skewers, the Grapow was flavorful (a bit strong in taste）and the Pad Fak Thong has pumpkin--sweet and salty, really tasty. What makes Tuk Tuk Thai a greatest Thai restaurant in LA? My answer is the authenticity and the excellent in service you'll always receive. And I'm writing this with no cap. Although the wait can be quite long and delivery or pick up might seem to take forever sometimes, it's worth the price you'll pay for! It's on you to plan ahead and make sure to call and check in if the restaurant has seats available. I recommend you to make a reservation. Tuk Tuk is a perfect place to have a friend meeting, a date night, or a casual solo dinner. So if you happen to have dinner at this place here's my recommended dish I've always get: Grapow with your choice of meat: it's a very traditional Thai spicy dish. The basils is a highlight and to add authenticity is the real fresh chilis and minced meat (chicken, beef, or pork fits best). If you go to other Thai restaurant you might get a full sliced of meat which isn't what I would call grapow. And be careful when you choose level of spiced! Ba Mee Tuk Tuk/Pork Toro: while I think Pad Thai or Pad See Ew is a basic to go, Ba Mee dish is something different and usually my favorite. It's the egg noodle with many stuff inside (cryspy pork, pork collar, dumplings, etc) and they flavor of the noodle will give you the vibe as you would eat that Thai street food in Thailand! Honestly, I wouldn't know which Thai restaurant can be better than Tuk Tuk Thai. The price isn't crazy expensive in my opinion and with the taste of authenticity of Thai flavor, with Thai chefs and servers, really makes the ambience a warm place. Delicious food filled the heart. I got the pad thai with shrimp. It was incredibly salty and tasted overpoweringly of dried shrimp and fish sauce. I am someone who enjoys both of those flavors but this wasn't well balanced at all. The noodles and fresh shrimp were cooked well but I couldn't get past the taste. It looked great but it did not live up to expectations. The one saving grace was the thai iced tea which was delicious.
