The draw of Joy Macaron should be their macaron ice creams and the cute-ness of the store :) Its location along Lower Greenville also makes it a fun place to visit after a nice meal/stroll in the area! If you dislike macarons in general, you are likely not going to have your mind changed here. However, for those who do enjoy the yummy small treat, Joy macaron offers a good selection of flavors at a somewhat pricey cost (around $13 dollars for a half a dozen, and $25 for a full dozen). You can pick your macarons and impress your friends with the hip containers (and how you color coordinated your macarons), or you can buy a macaron ice cream ($6) that is very appropriately sized, which will likely satisfy your sweet tooth for a good while. I think all of the flavors are yummy, but again, only if you like sweets! After your purchase, you can enjoy your delicious prizes in the front, where a small area decorated by two interestingly shaped couches awaits. Macarons are a delicacy because they are hard to make right, but Joy was able to create the prettiest patties. This Greenville shop was located in the middle of a bustling night life. The smell of Play-doh hit my nose as soon as I entered the shop, which threw me off since I expected a bakery to smell sweeter. However, it did not sway my appetite once I saw the colorful macarons. It was hard not to want to buy every macaron and remind myself that this was not a buffet. There were also macarons with ice cream as an option! Overall, I narrowed it down to three unique flavors: Lavender, Rose with Lychee, and Italian. The Italian macaron is a sweet, creamy macaron filled with nuts. The dessert was truly decadent and enjoyable. The Rose with Lychee was probably my favorite. I thought it was the right balance of sweet, with a light fragrant flavor. Lastly, the Lavender was very strong. Typically, I'm used to lavender scents but I had never imagined something to be lavender flavored. It tastes just as expected, like a flower or perfume. Although this was my least favorite because it resembled eating a bar of soap, it was definitely the most interesting. One thing I enjoyed was looking at their cute franchise items such as the keychains and t-shirts! I wish I had bought a t-shirt but it was $23, which is unfortunately too costly for me. Also, if you decide to walk around lower Greenville and happen to stop by before going to dinner... You'll be too full to eat much of your dinner. It was more filling than we thought. I got a fruity raspberry coconut sorbet? And my fiancé got the dulce de leche. I enjoyed the sorbet one more since it was lighter. The dulce de leche is good but heavy and creamy. I love that there is a Joy Macarons closer to home now! I've been a fan of the Oak Cliff location for a while, and the new Greenville Ave location does not disappoint! I'm a huge macaron fan (I kept a journal of my favorites on my honeymoon in Paris, and had my favorites overnighted from San Fran for our wedding reception), and it's great to finally have great Mac options in Dallas now. Not only is the store super cool and the gal who works there super friendly, but the macarons are delicate, flavorful & consistent. Rose Lychee is my favorite, lemon fleur de sel is insane, and salted caramel is heavenly. I highly recommend you follow the instructions to refrigerate and then let them warm up to room temp before eating (they will taste a little heavy and dense if eaten cold). If you love macarons this is as good as it gets in Dallas. Flavor: 4.5/5 The macarons are amazing. The cookies are crisp on the outside, and soft and chewy on the inside. The fillings are always on point and the flavors are fantastic. They have ones that range from fruit and coffee/chocolate to those that are more unique like lavender. The seasonal flavors never disappoint either. The standout for me though are the macaron ice cream sandwiches--one of the only places I've seen them offered in Texas. The cookies are the same as the normal-sized macarons, just larger, and just as fantastic. The ice creams pair really well and are insta-worthy. My favorites are cereal milk and the matcha (which sadly I believe was a limited-run). Quality control is usually on point, I have had 1-2 ice cream sandwiches where the cookies were a little stale, but not to the point of ruining the experience. Most of the time you can expect a consist product. Value: 4/5 Pricing is comparable to higher end macaron/bake shops. A 6-pack runs about $12 and a dozen is over $20. The sandwiches are ~$5 for one. You definitely won't feel like you're getting a steal but the quality justifies most of the price. Service: 5/5 Employees are friendly and professional. They always know what they're doing. I was walking down the block looking for shops to kill time while waiting for a table reservation and Joy Macaron attracted me. Their macaron flavors looked interesting and the Honey Lavender really appealed to me. My friend got it and I got a bite and I do have to say that it was delicious and they got the lavender taste perfectly down. Now onto why I deducted stars... The kombucha caught my eye because I've never heard of it. The cashier told me it was a cold tea. I asked her if it was sweet and she said yes and that its carbonated. I decided to give it a try because they had a lavender flavor and as you can tell, lavender flavors have really been appealing to me. What she failed to tell me is that it was a fermented tea. If she told me it was fermented and contained any sorts of alcohol, I wouldn't have purchased it. I wasn't expecting it to be so carbonated either. Kombucha is definitely an acquired taste and all she could describe of it was that it was good, carbonated and cold. She didn't mention the alcohol or that kombucha has a vinegar-like taste OR THAT IT WAS SOUR. The one macaron I had was good and if I reviewed on the macaron alone, it would be 5 stars but the Kombucha was a buzzkill for me. First off, very cool door you guys. Very fitting of the area, really stands out. Second, the macarons are delicious and very creative. My boyfriend enjoyed the cookie dough ones the most. Cute little dessert shop on Greenville Avenue. Its pretty inside with all the colors and it makes it hard to choose which flavors to try. I recommend the strawberry, lavender, and pistachio macaroons. I'm sure the other available flavors are just as good and the next time i stop through I'll be sure to try them. These small treats are really good. None of that fake sugary stuff going on here. But of course as all things that taste good, you will have to pay for. This is why this place for me gets a 4 star because it was only a one time try for me and probably wont go back unless i want a really good cake that i seen in this place. But other than that this place is actually a 5 for taste and 4 for price. I joke that I have to be a lawyer so that I can afford my macaroon habit, and it's not far from the truth. These are the only macaroons I've had this side of the Atlantic that I think are good enough to recommend. And by "good enough to recommend" I mean "good enough that I stop by at least once a week." They're not quite as light as Laduree, but I love them just the same. The salted caramel is my favorite, but I've been known to venture out and get a lavender or chocolate from time to time. I'm also a big fan of the pumpkin and goat cheese and fig, but I'm pretty sure those were seasonal. Per their sign indoors: 1 macaroon = $2.20 6 macaroons= $13 12 macaroons= $25 Now I'm no math wizard.... but this looks to me like you only save about 4 cents per macaroon when you get 6, and only about 12 cents per macaroon when you get 12. I was initially a bit annoyed by this, but! When I actually bought a couple of boxes of 6 as gifts, I realized that the sets of macaroons come with a nice, sturdy cardboard box with individual slots for the macaroons. I'm sure the cost of this box went into their calculation, and I can't fault them for that. read more

4 stars - this place on lower greenville is super cute. It's a quaint little shop with bright yellow trimmed glass doors. We were greeted upon entering and the girl who was working the counter was extremely nice. She was extreeeeemely knowledgeable about their products. She knew all the ingredients, how they're made, what benefits come from the charcoal in the charcoal lemonade macaron/ice cream sandwich. It was impressive. She definitely could have sold me anything. We ordered the vanilla and charcoal lemonade macaron ice cream sandwiches. $6 a piece and it was a fairly decent size. A lot of ice cream and the macaron is a little bit larger than their regular macaron cookies. The charcoal lemonade tasted like a frosted lemonade, not like the drink but like one of those lemonade pops you get in the summer time. It was a nice reminiscent flavor. Their ice cream is their own and there's definitely some quality put in the ice cream. For me though, the macaron was already so sweet and paired with the ice cream it was too sweet. Have only been here once, but i would def return again. I will say it's a bit hard to make it back because personally i think there are better options nearby. I havent tried the macrons, but i did try the macron ice cream sandwich, which is amazing! I got the cereal one, and my bf got the vanilla one. He really enjoyed mine, and i def enjoyed mine. The previous week i tried the fruity pebble ice cream sandwich from creamistry and the cereal totally overpowered the flavor of the ice cream. this one however was perfectly balanced and way more enjoyable. one thing i do wish they would do is use the flavors of all the available macarons for their ice cream sandwiches, i would return way more often if they did. can't say ive ever had a craving for a macaron, but i have for ice cream almost daily to tell the truth. read more
